Our Verdict
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is a 13.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress made of memory foam, pocketed coils, and a support foam base. This mattress is among the highest end of the all mattresses offered by Tempurpedic.
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is available in three firmness levels — soft, medium hybrid, and firm. We tested the medium hybrid version and found the mattress to have a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
This mattress has minimal sinkage and extremely low levels of bounce. There is a dramatic body contour on this mattress, which is to be expected from Tempurpedic foam. Despite the dramatic hug, the sinkage level is only minimal, meaning you won’t be overly enveloped by the foam layers.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.70, ranking the mattress in the top 46% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is $5,699 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 3.2X more expensive than the average memory foam hybrid we’ve tested. For reference, the average memory foam hybrid is only $1,750, which is $3,948 less than the price of the Luxe Breeze. For the Tempurpedic to be the right fit, you’ll need to be willing to pay a premium price.

How is Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze Different?
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is a 13.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than the average mattress, but also a price that is higher as well. Opting for the Tempurpedic costs nearly $4,000 more than the average memory foam hybrid (comparing all models we’ve tested to date).
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Luxe Breeze include better cooling performance, better motion isolation, better edge support, and exceptional pressure relief.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has minimal sinkage and extremely low levels of bounce. It has the classic memory foam feel that sleepers come to expect from a luxury Tempurpedic mattress.

While sinkage and bounce are neutral factors, the extremely low bounce and viscoelasticity of this mattress do contribute to its extremely slow material response time.
Disadvantages
Slightly slower material responsiveness may sometimes be a neutral factor, but at the level that the Luxe Breeze performs at, it’s a clear and notable disadvantage. It takes the mattress 1.8 seconds to mostly recover in our tests and full recovery doesn’t happen until 3.2 seconds, over 3X longer than the average recovery time.
Low bounce also has a negative impact on sex performance, as intimacy tends to be more strenuous on mattresses with low bounce.
Lastly, the Tempurpedic has a 90-night trial (which is 100 nights shorter than the average). And if things end up not working out, the Tempurpedic requires a $175 return fee to send the mattress back.
Cooling Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body. Quite the opposite, in fact, the mattress felt notably cool throughout our tests.
Baseline Temp.
76.8° F
Max. Temp.
89.3° F
Ending Temp.
82.6° F
This mattress is equipped with multiple cooling design features and materials. First and most impactful, we have a cooling cover, woven with cooling fibers, that has a significant cool-to-the-touch feel.
The cover maintained the cooling feel throughout the test, which is notable, as many lower spec cooling covers feel cool initially, but quickly lose that cooling feel after a few minutes of lying on them.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In addition, we have high-performance memory foams that appear to breathe well and prevent excessive heat retention. Lastly, we have the hybrid design, which brings more airflow into the mattress.
According to Tempurpedic’s product page, the mattress “Feels Up to 10° Cooler”. Based on our objective data and subjective experiences, that 10° mark feels more like marketing speak than reality.
Nevertheless, the mattress does feel cooler than the vast majority of mattresses I’ve tested.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.3° F. This is 0.9° cooler than the average of 90.2° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.6 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.2 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has minimal sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 1.90″. This is 0.35″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
1.90″
Sinkage Feel
Minimal
Body Contour
Dramatic
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug. While the sinkage depth of that hug is more restrained, the mattress still creates a significant and exacting hug around the precise shape of the body.
This is to be expected, as this mattress uses Tempurpedic’s more traditional feeling memory foam.
This foam creates a more classic memory foam feel, meaning it has lots of hug, body contour, a slower material recovery speed, and can create a more “stuck” in the mattress feel as the slower material responsiveness makes it harder to easily move around and change positions.

The more dramatic hug and contour of a classic memory foam feel is neither good nor bad, but it is a more specific feel.
Some sleepers love the classic memory foam feel, others not so much. To be comfortable on this mattress, you’ll need to strongly prefer the feel of a more classic memory foam.
Motion Transfer Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.90 m/s². This is 33% less motion transfer than the average of 8.80 m/s².
Accel. Range
5.90 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.83 seconds
The motion transfer on this mattress benefits from the thicker-than-average comfort layer and the all-memory-foam comfort layer. In particular, this type of memory foam has a more classic and traditional feel.
With respect to motion transfer, that means we have more viscoelastic properties, a slower material recovery speed, and lower bounce. These attributes set the stage for the mattress to deliver significantly lower than average motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion continues to gradually decline thereafter. By 0.83 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.06 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.89 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

This mattress measured in with lower than average motion intensity and faster than average motion duration. As a result, the total motion transfer level is very low and I expect most sleepers will find it more than satisfactory.
Response Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has a very slow material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.8 seconds, which is 1.38 seconds slower than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 3.2 seconds, which is 2.18 seconds slower than the average of 1.02 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
1.8 sec.
Fully Recovered
3.2 sec.
The slower material recovery speed is the product of Tempurpedic’s particular memory foam formulation. Tempurpedic uses a memory foam that feels more viscoelastic.
Once a person lies on the mattress, changes positions, or gets out of bed, it takes a few seconds for the foams to form to the body’s shape. The slower material recovery speed makes it harder to change positions and get in/out of bed.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Many sleepers may feel more “stuck” or “trapped” in the foams, since it requires more effort to move from the foams as they contour and hug the body. To be fair, this isn’t a problem with Tempurpedic exclusively, but rather a problem for most memory foam mattresses that have a more classic and traditional feel.
If you want the classic feel of memory foam, you should be prepared for a slower material recovery speed.
Bounce Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has an extremely low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 3.65″. This is 5.05″ less bounce than the average of 8.70″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
-0.14″
Max. Rebound
3.79″
Total Bounce
3.65″
The lower-than-average bounce is a product of a thicker-than-average comfort layer and a comfort layer consisting entirely of memory foam.
As we’ve discussed earlier, this particular type of memory foam has a more classic and traditional feel. In addition to having a greater body contouring hug, it also has more viscoelastic properties.
With respect to bounce, those viscoelastic properties greatly absorb and disperse energy, which means there is little energy left to return as bounce on the mattress.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower-than-average level of bounce makes this mattress harder to move around on and change positions. In addition, the lower bounce also makes sex worse.
However, the lower bounce also delivers a motion transfer level that is lower than average. If you prioritize bounce, ease of movement, and sex performance, you’ll likely be disappointed with this level of bounce. On the other hand, if you prioritize lower motion transfer, you’ll find this level of bounce optimal.
Edge Support Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.00″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.00″. This is 0.87″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.87″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions.
This mattress is equipped with a reinforced support foam that runs along the entire perimeter of the mattress. This reinforcing foam is clearly making a notable positive impact on edge support.
The reinforced perimeter foam works alongside the thicker-than-average total profile height and high-performance materials throughout the mattress to deliver fantastic edge support for both sitting and lying.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The only slight con to edge support is the all-memory-foam comfort layer. The memory foam creates a slight weakening of edge support while lying, which prevents this mattress from earning a perfect 10/10 score.
Memory foam, by its nature, creates a high degree of body contouring hug, which is great while in the middle of the mattress. However, along the edge, it’s more problematic, as there isn’t enough material to fully contour and support the body.
As a result, we experienced a slight weakness along the absolute edge. To be fair, it’s nothing extreme, but that feeling of weakened support is certainly there, at least while lying.
As with motion transfer, this isn’t a problem with Tempurpedic specifically, but rather many more classic and traditional memory foam mattresses.
Sex Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has mediocre sex performance. The sex performance on the Luxe Breeze is quite unique in that the mattress earned perfect 10 out of 10 scores in 4 out of our 5 testing categories.
That includes minimal noise and outstanding pressure relief, cooling, and edge support.

In our sitting edge support test, we measured just 3.00” of sitting edge sinkage. That is considerably better than average and ensures there is a robust level of edge support, extending the usable surface of the mattress.
The only weak spot on the Luxe Breeze is bounce, which we measured at 3.65”. This is significantly less bouncy than average. When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better than less.
Ideally, we want to see 10” of bounce or higher. All that to say, the lower level of bounce is a significant detriment to the overall sex performance.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 5.0 | Very Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
Lower bounce makes a mattress harder to move around, harder to change positions, and more tiring and strenuous to have sex on.
The lower bounce is an unfortunate byproduct of memory foam and is less of a problem with Tempurpedic specifically. That said, if you do want a memory foam mattress, you should be prepared for the bounce to be lower.
Across our hundreds of mattress tests, we’ve consistently seen memory foam mattresses have less bounce.
Pressure Relief Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body. Very much the opposite, as I found the mattress to be exceedingly comfortable.
Comfort Layer
5.00″
Support Layer
8.00″
I may be slightly biased in this view, as I personally love the feel of memory foam and have slept on a memory foam mattress since 2017. That said, if you’re a sleeper who loves the feel of memory foam then I have every confidence that you’ll love the feel of the Luxe Breeze.

The mattress is equipped with 5.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.68″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.32″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all mattress tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open to examine the material quality. In doing so, I found the foams to look and feel high quality, both on the body and in the hand.
The foams are a classic memory foam, creating a minimal to moderate sinkage depth with a dramatic and exacting body contouring hug.

The thin, non-quilted cover allows for more direct body engagement with the comfort layers, which helps to amplify the feel of the memory foam.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.54 PSI. This is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold that I ideally want all mattresses to be within.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.27 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.35 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.54 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze had a minimal smell upon its initial arrival. The mattress smelled for 1 day. This is 6.3 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.3 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Minimal
Off-Gassing Period
1 day
The shorter-than-average smell is most likely a product of the full-service delivery. The mattress arrived uncompressed, but bagged.
The bag was notably not fully sealed (one end was open to the air), which means the mattress was likely allowed to off-gas and release the vast majority of its memory foam smells during transit.

While our mattress did not have a strong smell, most other Tempurpedic mattresses we’ve tested have had a significantly stronger smell and persisted for anywhere from several days to well over a month.
I would think that had the mattress been fully sealed with a plastic bag, it would have had a much stronger smell.
Company
Tempurpedic mattresses come with a 90-night trial period and a 10-year warranty. Shipping is free. Returns are $175.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 5.0 | $175 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 6.0 | 90 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 10 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 114+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 183 nights, 93 nights more than Tempurpedic offers. The average warranty is 13 years, which is 3 years more than that of Tempurpedic.
Additionally, this data excludes the 42% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.

How firm is Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze?
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is available in three different firmness options—Soft, Medium Hybrid, and Firm.
Soft Version
We did not test the Soft version, but we estimate it to be a 5 out of 10 rating, where 10 is the most firm.

Medium Hybrid Version
We tested the Medium Hybrid version for this review and found it had a medium-firm feel, a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale.

Firm Version
Just like the soft version, our assessment of the Firm version is an estimate, but I would put it at a 7 out of 10, giving it a slightly firm feel.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer.
This is 0.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
For a mattress to create ideal support, it must both keep the spine in a neutral alignment while also providing ample comfort. The Luxe Breeze easily accomplished both of these requirements.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 5.00″ |
| Support Layer | 8.00″ |
| Firmness | Medium, Medium-Firm, and Slightly Firm |
| Body Contour | Dramatic |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
This mattress is available in 3 firmness levels—soft, medium hybrid, and firm. We tested the medium hybrid version and it will be the correct and best choice for the vast majority of sleepers.
The medium hybrid has a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most. This firmness is ideal for all sleeping positions and most sleepers. If you know you prefer a more plush feel, sleep exclusively on your side, and/or you weigh less than 120 pounds, then the soft version is a reasonable choice.

If you know you prefer a firmer feel, sleep exclusively on your stomach or back, and/or if you weigh more than 280 pounds, then the firm version is a reasonable choice.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.

The Luxe Breeze is equipped with high-performance materials from top to bottom.
We used our densimeter to analyze the foam layers and found the memory foam layers had a density of 4.99, 4.53, and 4.75 PCF, respectively (from top to bottom). These density levels at these thicknesses are fantastic and more than dense enough to deliver excellent longevity and overall durability.

Additionally, our digital caliper measured the coil at 1.83 mm, which is a gauge of 15. This thicker wire is sufficient to provide proper support to the heavier foam layers and sleepers alike.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is outstanding.
Design
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze is a 13.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress that comes in three firmness options—Medium (soft version), Medium-Firm (medium hybrid version), and Slightly Firm (firm version).
As mentioned above, we tested the Medium Hybrid, which is considered suitable for the widest range of sleepers.

The Cover
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze has a thin cover that is removable, machine-washable, and cool-to-the-touch. It includes cooling fibers that help to draw heat away from the body when sleeping.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 5.00″ thick and made of three separate layers of memory foam.
Directly below the cover, there is a 1.0″ memory foam layer followed by a 1.5″ memory foam layer, and lastly a 2.0″ memory foam layer.

Visually, there is limited distinction between the different layers, but in our tests, we did measure slightly different densities at each layer (as shown in the table above).
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.00″ thick and made of individually encased pocketed coils, surrounded by an edge support poly foam.

The poly foam helps to contain the coils as well as providing edge support when seated at or near the edge of the mattress.
Product Evolution
The Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze first launched in 2019, introduced along with the Pro Breeze collection. However, there was also an earlier Tempurpedic Contour Luxe Breeze that could be considered a predecessor.
The Luxe Breeze is the top-tier collection for the best cooling performance among all Tempurpedic mattresses.
This review (tested in 2026) is the first time we’ve tested the Luxe Breeze, so it’s unclear how earlier versions may be similar or different.
