Latex mattresses have a way of striking the balance between comfort, support, and cooling while doing so with more natural materials and a unique feel.
Compared to other foams, latex is made from sap harvested by rubber trees and tends to create bouncier mattresses, with excellent cooling and fast response times.
Our best latex mattress picks showcase the best-performing mattresses at a range of price points, firmnesses, and comfort dynamics. Let’s dive in.

Our Verdict
The Birch Original mattress is a hybrid mattress that is a blend of pocketed coils and Talalay latex.
The natural latex is perforated, which helps the cooling and breathability of this mattress. There is also a layer of natural wool at the top and bottom of this mattress, which also aids in temperature regulation.
In our performance tests, the Birch is the top-scoring latex mattress. Across the board, it charts high scores without having a price tag that breaks the bank.
Type: Latex Hybrid
Firmness: Slightly Firm (7)
Birch Performance
Performance on the Birch Original latex mattress is solid all-around. All scores are in the upper 9’s, with perfect 10’s for excellent cooling, extremely fast response time, minimal off-gassing, and a 9.9 for very low motion transfer levels.
Motion transfer had a max acceleration range of 5.52 m/s², much less than the average 7.92 m/s².
Edge support had a score of 9.3 on the Birch, where it had 4.5″ of sinkage when sitting directly at the edge. This is a bit more sinkage than I would like to see, as I typically like to see 4″ or less.
The average level of sedge sinkage across all mattresses tested to date is 4.29″. All that being said, if you scoot a couple of inches away from the edge, support on this mattress is fantastic.

Birch Luxe
Best For
- Side sleepers who like the Birch Original but want more contour
- Slightly softer feel than the Birch Original, medium-firm (6 out of 10)
Quick Specs
- 11.5″ thick with quilted cover
- 100-night trial period

Birch + 1.5″ Quilted Cover
The Birch Luxe mattress shares many similarities with the Birch Original, but a few notable differences as well.
The biggest difference is that the Luxe has a 1.5″ quilted cover, which gives the Luxe an added level of softness and a deeper level of contour.
Both of these mattresses are high-quality latex hybrids. For sleepers who are looking for better pressure relief or a softer feel, I would recommend the Birch Luxe over the Original.
Awara Luxury Hybrid
Best For
- Extremely low levels of motion transfer
- Excellent response time, 0.3 seconds for full recover
- Sleeper looking for very high bounce
Quick Specs
- 10″ thick
- Organic cotton and wool cover
- 365-night trial
- Lifetime limited warranty
Our Verdict
The Awara natural luxury hybrid, aka the original Awara mattress, is a latex mattress with Dunlop latex and pocketed coils, with a medium-firm feel.
In our performance tests, it had a very fast material response, extremely low levels of motion transfer (max acceleration range of only 3.72 m/s²), and excellent pressure relief (despite only having 2.0″ of latex foam).
Overall performance was excellent. Natural latex mattresses tend to be more expensive, but the Awara keeps the price in check, while still maintaining material quality. It’s a solid latex hybrid mattress from top to bottom, especially at this price point.
Type: Latex Hybrid
Firmness: Medium-Firm (6)
Awara Performance
Performance on the Awara is exceptional. It scored perfect 10s for extremely low levels of motion transfer and an extremely fast response time as well. The perforated Dunlop latex does a fantastic job at isolating motion without giving the mattress a stuck feeling.
The perforated design also aids in cooling and limiting heat retention. Considering preferential factors, this mattress generates moderate levels of sinkage and moderate to high levels of bounce.
In our bounce tests, we measured a total bounce of 15.79″. The average bounce among all mattresses tested to date is 9.62″ so the Awara is quite a bit beyond the average.
While extra high bounce isn’t for everyone, it will undoubtedly improve sex performance.

Our Verdict
The Spindle mattress is an organic natural latex mattress that has three interchange layers of latex foam. It has a zippered cover that allows you to access the foam layers and adjust them in a number of different configurations.
Overall performance on Spindle is fantastic. It’s one of the best latex mattresses we’ve tested to date.

Type: Latex Foam

Spindle Performance
Performance on the Spindle mattress was fantastic, charting perfect scores for extremely low levels of motion transfer as well as extremely fast response time.
Cooling, edge support, and pressure relief were not far behind with scores of 9.5. The three layers of latex provide a nice balance of comfort and support.
That being said, I will note that the Spindle is not recommended for sleepers with a BMI less than 19 or over 31 (these guidelines come from Spindle directly).

Avocado Eco
Best For
- High levels of bounce
- Extremely low motion transfer paired with fast response time
- Organic materials and no toxic additives
Quick Specs
- 10″ thick
- Organic cotton and wool cover
- 100-night trial
- 10-year warranty
Our Verdict
The Avocado Eco mattress is a 10″ thick organic latex hybrid with great performance and a lower price tag than many other organic or all-natural options.
The Avocado Eco has a 2″ latex comfort layer followed by an 8″ pocketed coil layer. Only 2″ of latex may not work for heavier sleepers over 250 lbs, but lightweight sleepers should feel sufficiently supported.
The performance factors of this mattress were well-rounded and revealed solid performance across the board and no major pitfalls
Type: Latex Hybrid
Firmness: Medium (5.5)
Avocado Performance
The Avocado Eco has solid performacne across the board and is another fantastic pick for a great latex mattress. Like most of the other latex mattresses on this list, it had a perfect score for extremely low motion transfer and extremely fast response time.
The Avocado had high levels of bounce at 12.19″ which is higher than the average of 9.62″. It also has 2.48″ of sinkage which is slightly deeper than average.
You’re going to engage a bit more with the layers of the Avocado Eco than you may otherwise with one of the other latex mattresses listed. If you’re looking for that deeper level of contour, the Avocado Eco is a fantastic option (and a great value).

In our performance tests, the EcoSleep had good pressure relief, lightning-fast response time, and moderate levels of sinkage.
The hybrid design, pocketed coils, and latex top create a fairly unique feel among many of the mattresses we’ve tested to date. In addition, the zip-off flippable foam is quite unique as well.

Best For
- Extremely fast response time
- Fantastic cooling performance, despite having moderately deep sinkage
- Excellent pressure relief
Quick Specs
- 11″ thick
- Organic cotton cover

Our Verdict
The Nolah Natural mattress is a latex hybrid that uses hole-punched Talalay latex with pocketed coils to provide comfort, support, and exceptionally good cooling. It has an 11″ profile and a plush feel.
Being latex, the Nolah Natural has a more generalized contouring around the body (unlike memory foam which often creates a more dramatic hug). It’s a more traditional feel that emphasizes pressure relief, cooling, and softness.
In our performance tests, the Nolah Natural was very well-rounded with high bounce, fast response, and excellent pressure relief.

The only real disadvantage to the Sleep EZ mattress is the higher level of motion transfer. In our tests, we measured 13.34 m/s².

Mattresses We Considered
When selecting the best latex mattress, we’re looking at a combination of performance factors, material quality, and price.
We also strived to include a couple of all latex foam options. While latex hybrids are largely more popular than all foam, all foam mattresses are still worth considering for many sleepers.
Of the latex mattresses we’ve tested, 79% have been latex hybrids and only 21% have been 100% foam.
In this list, latex hybrids that scored below a 9.67 were excluded based on performance score alone.
Latex foam mattresses that scored below a 9.52 were excluded based on score.
