Our Verdict
The Nectar Hybrid Premier is a hybrid mattress with a 13″ profile, 1″ thicker layer of comfort foam than we see on the Nectar Hybrid (original). It has a slightly softer feel than the original Hybrid and can be a good choice for a wide range of sleepers.
In our performance tests, this mattress had excellent cooling, deep sinkage, very high motion transfer, very fast response time, very high bounce, good edge support, excellent sex performance, excellent pressure relief, good off-gassing, and an excellent company score.
The Nectar Hybrid Premier is a mid-tier memory foam hybrid with excellent pressure relief and a great contouring hug around the body. While it loses some points for high motion transfer, in all other categories it had a strong performance.

How is Nectar Premier Hybrid Different?
The Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress has slightly below-average performance, but also a price tag that is also less than average—a savings of 26% off of the average memory foam hybrid (over $360 less).
Advantages
Advantages of the Nectar Hybrid Premier include slightly above-average cooling performance, faster material response time, and a thicker mattress profile (13″ on the Hybrid Premier compared to the 11.9″ average mattress height).
Neutral Factors
Sinkage is deeper on the Premier than it is on the average memory foam hybrid. Bounce is also greater, 36% more bounce than average. These two factors are more preferential matters and not really a case of good vs. bad performance.
Disadvantages
Motion transfer levels are 75% higher on the Nectar Hybrid Premier than average. For couples or sleepers who are more sensitive to movement at night, this may be a factor to consider. Edge support is also slightly worse than average when seated directly on the edge of the mattress.
Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Nectar Hybrid Premier was excellent. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention. The mattress remained comfortable and cool throughout the tests.
Baseline Temp.
80.4° F
Max Temp.
89.0° F
Ending Temp.
82.4° F
Max Temp.
Ending Temp
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Looking at our objective data we measured a surface level temperature of 89.0 degrees F. This is about average compared to all of our mattress tests to date. Heat dissipation was good as well.
From 0 to 1 minute, we saw a temperature decline of 3.6° F, dropping from 89.0 to 85.4° F. The temperature continued a gradual and steady decline from minutes 1 to 5, ending at 82.4°, a total temperature reduction of 6.6° F.
Nectar uses a simple, but effective material layer design. We have 4.0” of comfort foams on top of 8.0” of coils.
Limiting the comfort layer to just 4.0” reduces the total quantity of materials that could absorb and retain heat.
Heat Dissipation Over Time
Meanwhile, the layer of coils provides plenty of airflow and further improves cooling.
At the end of the day, it’s still memory foam on the top, so I won’t go as far as to say the Nectar Premier Hybrid is a miracle worker when it comes to cooling.
Even so, for the vast majority of sleepers, I don’t foresee any major issues with respect to cooling.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a deep level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured 2.35” of sinkage compression.
Sinkage Depth
2325″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
This is slightly more sinkage than the average of 2.18”. The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.
During our sinkage tests, I noted a significant level of sinkage in my mid-section.
For many side sleepers, this is ideal, as it can help to create a neutral spinal alignment. However, some back and stomach sleepers (especially those who carry more weight in the mid-section) may find that it is a little too deep.
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a modern memory foam feel. There is a dramatic and exacting contouring hug around the body wherever your body engages with the mattress.
This type of hug creates fantastic pressure relief and is comfortable to lie on.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier has a very high level of motion transfer. During our tests, I measured 14.73 m/s² of acceleration range. This is nearly double what we have measured on average (8.33 m/s²) comparing all mattresses tested to date.
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
On average, based on all of our tests to date, we have measured an acceleration range of 6.08 m/s². Hybrids do tend to create more motion transfer, however, this is well beyond what we see even if only considering hybrids.
The hybrid mattress category sees an average acceleration range of 6.40 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
6.57 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-8.16 m/s²
Accel. Range
14.73 m/s²
Typically, mattresses with memory foam on top do quite well when it comes to motion transfer. As a result, I expect that much of the motion is the result of the coil system itself.
There are no significant material factors within the foam or cover that would lead me to believe they are having an outsized impact on motion transfer.
As a result, the only culprit left is the coil unit.
If we look at the motion transfer chart we can see the highest levels of motion from 0.00 to 0.22 seconds with a secondary motion spike at 0.57 to 0.71 seconds. By 1.07 seconds motion has returned to near zero levels.
These motion spikes are significant and the duration is considerably longer than what we see from the lowest motion transfer mattresses.
If we compare this test to the test results from the all-foam Nectar Premier the differences are striking (see Nectar Premier all-foam motion transfer chart below).
The all-foam version of the Nectar Premier had significantly less motion peaks and motion returned to near-zero levels by 0.3 seconds.
Response Test
Response time on the Nectar Hybrid Premier is very fast. In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.3 seconds and a fully recovered response time of 0.8 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.8 sec.
Both of these measurements were notably faster than the average response time. On average, based on all of our mattress tests to date, we have measured a mostly recovered time of 0.54 seconds and a fully recovered time of 0.99 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The fastest responding mattresses are able to mostly recover within 0.2 seconds and fully recover by 0.3 seconds. Nectar’s Premier Hybrid isn’t quite that fast, but it’s not far off.
Overall, I’m pleased with the response performance. It’s plenty fast enough that sleepers will not feel stuck or overly enveloped by the memory foam layers.
During our tests, I did not feel that it was difficult to move around or get in / out of bed.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a very high level of bounce. In our tests, we measured 13.11” of total bounce height. This is considerably more than the average.
Max. Depth
6.54″
Max. Rebound
6.57″
Total Bounce
13.11″
On average, based on all of our tests to date, we have measured an average bounce height of 9.362”. Typically, I like to see a bounce in the 8-12” range.
As a result, Nectar’s 13.11” is a good bit beyond that.
Max Sinkage Depth
Max Bounce Height
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
At this level, there are some sleepers who would find the bounce to be excessive. It seems clear the bounce is having a negative impact on the motion transfer (which is the 3rd highest motion we’ve tested to date).
While bounce is beneficial for helping to make the mattress easier to move around on and for sex, it can be detrimental to motion and comfort for some sleepers.
Edge Support Test
Edge support on the Nectar Premier Hybrid is a bit of a mixed bag. Sitting edge support is great, but I did find lying edge support to be less than amazing.
Max Sinkage
4.25″
Lying Support
Good
In our sitting edge support tests, we measured 4.25” of sinkage compression at the edge. In general, I like to see 4.0” of edge sinkage or less.
The Hybrid Premier is a bit beyond my preferred threshold, but nothing crazy.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.
Sitting, 200 lbs.
While sitting directly on the edge I felt well-supported and there was no sensation of material collapse.
Lying edge support is good, but not great. As with some other Nectar / DreamCloud mattresses we’ve tested there is a tapering of the foams towards the edge.
This tapering, combined with the relative softness of the top layers, creates less than great support at the absolute edge.
It was most notable when lying on my back, where I felt a lack of support on the portion of my back that was closest to the edge, with more support for the portion of my back that was closer to the middle of the mattress.
Edge support is better when lying on my side on the edge, as the support is consistent. For most sleepers, I expect the edge support will be sufficient.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.
Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.
For heavier-weight sleepers who enjoy sleeping very close to the edge, they may find it not supportive enough.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 10 | Extremely High |
Edge Support | 20% | 8.4 | Good |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
The big win for this mattress is the bounce—it’s on the higher side and bouncier than average. While this bounce didn’t really do any favors for the motion transfer scoring, the extra bounce was fantastic for enhancing good sex.
Edge support was also good with sufficient support when sitting directly on the edge. Concerning noise, this mattress was very quiet, pressure relief was good, and there was limited heat retention.
Pressure Relief Test
Pressure relief on the Nectar Premier Hybrid is excellent. During our tests, I felt plenty of pressure relief in all sleeping positions. The Nectar Premier Hybrid uses 4.0” of comfort memory and poly foams.
Comfort Layer
4.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
That’s sufficient for most body types and sleeping positions. The foams create a modern memory foam feel.
There is a high degree of hug and contour, but I never feel stuck or overly enveloped by the materials.
The foams quickly respond to changes in movement, so you always feel immediate pressure relief even when quickly changing positions during the night.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Nectar Hybrid Premier was strong right out of the box. It smelled for 4 days, which is slightly longer than the average we typically see.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
4 days
Nectar included a couple of deodorizer packs, which certainly helped reduce the smell duration and strength.
These deodorizer packs are something that I’ve really only seen with Nectar mattresses.
It’s pretty simple and smart—an appreciated touch when unboxing a brand new mattress.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | China |
Nectar has a good company score. They offer an extended 365-night trial period with a lifetime warranty.
Shipping is free and returns are free as well. Overall, Nectar has a history of positive company policies, terms, and conditions.
How firm is the Nectar Hybrid Premier?
The Nectar Hybrid Premier is a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale.
This is a standard medium-firm feel. It is firm enough to support heavier-weighted sleepers while not being so firm that lightweight sleepers feel too much pushback.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Nectar Hybrid Premier is excellent. The layered design and material quality give me great confidence in the mattress.
This design is a proven design we’ve seen from countless brands and continues to be a good fit for a wide variety of sleepers, as shown in the table below.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
It has 4.0” of comfort material on top of 9.0” of support coils and foams, which creates plenty of support, even for heavier-weight sleepers.
The 6 out of 10 medium-firm feel is ideal. The vast majority of sleepers prefer a medium to medium-firm feel. Nectar’s Hybrid Premier strikes the right balance between comfort and support.
Sleepers receive plenty of pressure relief, but the deep compression support is still there for heavier bodies, curvier bodies, hips, shoulders, and other areas of the body that need greater support. I don’t have any major complaints with respect to support.
Design
The Nectar Hybrid Premier is a hybrid mattress that combines foam and pocketed coils. It is 13″ high and is designed to be a good fit for a wide range of sleepers.

Materials
The Nectar Hybrid Premier mattress is made up of five main layers. These layers are outlined in the bulleted list below. From top to bottom, we have:
- 1.0” memory foam
- 2.0” poly foam
- 1.0” poly foam
- 8.0” pocketed coils
- 1.0” support foam
There is a notable tapering of the foam at the edges, so it doesn’t look quite like we have the thicknesses that Nectar reports in their spec sheet.
However, we do have a total 13” thickness, so the foams appear to be there.
The top two layers are affixed together as a single layer, but you can see the line where they were formed together. That 2nd 2.0” layer is the one with the most significant tapering, as you can see the gap between the foams at the edge.
The Cover
The cover of the Nectar Hybrid Premier is thin, breathable, and has a good amount of stretch to it. This cover is similar to the style of cover we have seen on many other Nectar mattresses.
The sides of the Nectar Hybrid Premier have handles, but the cover does not have a zippered closure.
All foam Nectar mattresses have a zipper, but Nectar advises to not take the cover off so it’s not really an advantage in this case.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer of the Hybrid Premier is 4.0″ thick and made up of three distinct layers of foam. On top there is a 1.0″ layer of memory foam, followed by a 2.0″ layer of poly foam.
Below those two layers is a 1.0″ layer of transitional poly foam, which sits right above the pocketed coils.
The Support Layer
The support coils are directly below the comfort foam and make up the main layer of support. This layer is 8.0″ thick and includes hundreds of fabric-encased springs, which sit tightly against each other.
