Our Verdict
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is a 14.50″ hybrid mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and a support coil base.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in three firmness levels — soft, medium, and firm. We tested the medium version, which we found had a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
This mattress has deep sinkage and high levels of bounce. It has a balanced contour, which makes it a solid option for sleepers with a variety of preferences. Furthermore, this mattress is also available with an optional pillow top cover. We tested the version with the pillow top. The pillow top cover will increase sinkage depth moderately compared to the version without the pillow top.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.19, ranking the mattress in the top 8% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is $1,099 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 26% less expensive than average. Given the significantly better than average score combined with the significant below average price, the Signature Hybrid is an extraordinarily good value mattress.

How is Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Different?
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is a 14.50″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is better than average and a price that is significantly below average.
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Signature Hybrid include better cooling, lower levels of motion transfer, and fast response time. Edge support is also very impressive, along with a higher sex score and better pressure relief.
The mattress has a 5.75″ comfort layer, which is 1.44″ thicker than the average mattress. Lastly, the Signature Hybrid off-gasses over 50% faster than the average mattress (3 days on Brooklyn Bedding vs. 7-day average).
Neutral Factors
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has deep sinkage and high levels of bounce. If you enjoy a mattress with deeper engagement and more pushback, the Signature Hybrid can be a great option.

Disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage of the Signature Hybrid is a shorter trial period (only 120 nights) and a $99 return fee if the mattress ends up not working out.
Cooling Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
77.7° F
Max. Temp.
90.5° F
Ending Temp.
80.0° F
This mattress has multiple designs and material choices that work together to improve cooling.
First up, we have the hybrid design, which simply brings more airflow into the mattress and is a layer in which heat isn’t easily retained.
In addition, the mattress is equipped with high-quality foams that all are breathing well. Lastly, the mattress is equipped with a cooling fabric called Glaciotex.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
We’ve tested Glaciotex on numerous other mattress models from Brooklyn Bedding and Helix. While this isn’t the absolute best version of Glaciotex we’ve tested, it does still create a slight to moderate cooling effect on the surface of the mattress.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.5° F. This is 0.3° warmer than the average of 90.2° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 5.1 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.3 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.46″. This is 0.21″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.46″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. This mattress is equipped with a mix of poly foam and memory foam, along with a coil base. This design creates a balanced, even, and non-polarizing feel that many different types of sleepers can enjoy.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

Notably, we tested the version with the optional pillow top. Compared to the non-pillow top version, the pillow top is most likely going to create more sinkage, comfort, pressure relief, and contouring hug.
This isn’t good or bad, but each version, pillow top and no pillow top, will deliver a moderately different type of feel. You should consider which comfort and sinkage dynamic you’ll prefer when deciding whether or not to add the pillow top.
Motion Transfer Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has an extremely low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.05 m/s². This is 43% less motion transfer than the average of 8.80 m/s².
The significantly lower-than-average motion transfer can primarily be attributed to the significantly thicker-than-average comfort layer.
Accel. Range
5.05 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.90 seconds
All of that extra foam, including the thick pillow top, absorbs and disperses a ton of energy. What energy that remains is easily handled by the high-performance pocketed coil unit.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines thereafter, but we do see a small secondary spike from 0.5 to 0.6 seconds.
By 0.90 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.01 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.89 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

While motion duration is a whisper beyond average, motion intensity is considerably lower than average. As a result, the total motion transfer experience on the mattress is fantastic.
I expect most sleepers will find this level of motion to be more than satisfactory.
Response Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a fast fully recovered response time.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.8 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.8 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
This mattress is a mix of poly foam, memory foam, and a pocketed coil unit. The coil unit and poly foam spring back to shape effectively instantly.
The memory foam takes a moment to fully recover to its original shape after it has been compressed, which slightly slows down the total responsiveness.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Even so, as far as memory foams go, it’s still quite fast to recover. Overall, these recovery speeds, both mostly and fully recovered, are faster than average and deliver excellent ease of movement across the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 10.16″. This is 1.46″ more bounce than the average of 8.70″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
6.05″
Max. Rebound
4.11″
Total Bounce
10.16″
This mattress is able to deliver a surprisingly high level of bounce. It’s typical for hybrids to be at or slightly above average, but typically with pillow top mattresses and mattresses with considerably thicker than average comfort layers have a little more restrained bounce.
In our measurements, we saw considerably more bounce. Certainly, the high-performance coil unit and highly responsive poly foams are a big part of that bounce.
In addition, the deeper-than-average sinkage is likely a contributing factor, as the extra sinkage brings objects into greater contact with the coil unit, which is able to resiliently spring back with more force and bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
All of that extra bounce is hugely beneficial for ease of movement and sex performance.
Overall, I’m really pleased to see such a high level of bounce, especially in the context of motion transfer, which was kept to a below-average level.
This dynamic is the best-case scenario we can hope for with respect to bounce and motion transfer.
Edge Support Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has excellent sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.25″. This is 0.62″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.87″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress utilizes two rows of reinforced coils along the left and right sides of the mattress.
These coils have a significant positive impact and are working together with larger mattress design, high-quality materials, and a thicker-than-average total profile height to create fantastic edge support performance.
That said, these reinforced coils are only placed on the right and left sides of the mattress.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

There are no reinforced coils at the head or foot, where edge support isn’t as robust. The lack of full perimeter reinforced coils is less-than-great, but it’s also likely a measure designed to keep the price point lower.
In my view, it’s a reasonable design choice to make in the interest of keeping the costs lower. All that to say, I’m pleased with this level of edge support and expect most sleepers will find it more than satisfactory.
Sex Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has excellent sex performance. Let’s start with what the mattress does best. Noise is minimal, pressure relief and cooling are excellent, and edge support is excellent.

In our sitting edge sinkage tests, we measured just 3.25” of compression. This is notably better than average and means we have more robust edge support, which extends the usable surface area for amorous activities.
Lastly, we have bounce, which we measured at 10.16”. This is a good bit more than average. When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 8.8 | High |
| Edge Support | 20% | 9.7 | Excellent |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
That extra bounce helps create a more lively surface that works with couples to make sex easier, less tiring, and more enjoyable. Overall, sex performance is fantastic and considerably better than average.
The Signature Hybrid does not have any notable weak spots when it comes to sex.
Pressure Relief Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
5.75″
Support Layer
8.75″
The mattress is equipped with 5.75″ of comfort material, which is 1.44″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.31″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all mattress tests at NapLab, we cut the mattress open to check out the material quality. Overall, I’m pleased with what I see.
The foam looks and feels high quality, both on the body and in hand. In addition, Brooklyn Bedding shared with us their exact foam density specs.

While these aren’t the absolute highest density foams we’ve seen, given the price point, they are more than fair, in my view. Notably, we tested this mattress with the optional pillow top.
That pillow top is certainly adding a little more sinkage, comfort, and pressure relief. I would recommend that anyone who desires maximum pressure relief should consider including the pillow top.

This mattress uses a mix of different foam types, alongside the pillow top, to create a more balanced, less polarizing type of feel that many different sleepers can enjoy. When we consider the pressure relief and broader performance relative to the price, it is a truly fantastic value.
Lastly, in our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.37, which is well within the maximum 1.0 PSI threshold I want to see.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.27 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.05 | 0.37 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.70 | 0.35 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be excellent.
Off-Gassing Test
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 3 days. This is 4.3 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.3 days.

Comparing 113+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 192 nights, 72 nights more than Brooklyn Bedding offers.

How firm is Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid?
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in three different firmness options—soft, medium, and firm. We tested the medium version with the optional pillow top cover.
Soft
We did not test the soft option, that said, based on my experience and analysis of material layers, I estimate that it would be a 4 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

Medium
We tested the medium firmness and found it to be a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm. This is a medium-firm feel and it’s well-suited for the vast majority of sleepers.

Firm
We also haven’t tested the Firm version yet, but I would estimate it would come in at an 8 out of 10.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with an 8.75″ support layer.
This is 0.84″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 5.75″ |
| Support Layer | 8.75″ |
| Firmness | Soft, Medium-Firm, and Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
This mattress is available in 3 firmnesses, including soft, medium, and firm. We tested the medium version, which we rated at a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
This medium-firm feel is the best choice for the vast majority of sleepers and works well for all sleeping positions and most body types.
If you sleep primarily on your side and also strongly prefer more sinkage and a more plush feel, then the soft version is a possible choice. Likewise, if you sleep primarily on your stomach or back and also strongly prefer less sinkage with more pushback, then the firm version is a possible choice.
All that said, the vast majority of sleepers are best served by the medium version.

In addition, this mattress is available with an optional pillow top. The mattress we tested included a pillow top. Having the pillow top will increase sinkage and pressure relief modestly.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for each firmness of this mattress.
Soft Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
| 150-250 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
| 250-300 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
Medium Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Maybe | Yes |
In my view, if you want better pressure relief, it’s worth the extra cost. To create optimal support, a mattress needs to create sufficient pressure relief and comfort, while also keeping the spine in a neutral alignment.
The Signature Hybrid was able to achieve both of these requirements without any issues. Lastly, this mattress does not use any type of zoned support.
Instead, we have a consistent firmness, feel, and support from head to foot of the mattress. Certainly, zoned support is great when it’s present, but it’s also not something we typically see included in mattresses at this price point.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid excellent.
Design
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is a 14.50″ hybrid mattress that comes in three firmness options—Soft, Medium-Firm, and Firm. Within the Brooklyn Bedding collection, the Signature Hybrid is designed as a value option for sleepers who want a hybrid at a low price.

The Cover
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has a standard quilted cover.

For extra contour and softness, you can add the Cloud Pillow Top. This is a 2.5″ pillow top layer—the version that we tested had this pillow top included.
With the pillow top included, the price jumps up to $1,299 for a queen-sized mattress compared to $1,099 for the version with the standard quilted cover.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 5.75″ thick, which includes the pillow top as well as three layers of foam. Directly below the pillow top is a 1.0″ memory foam (swirl foam), followed by a 1.5″ poly foam (green foam), and lastly a 0.75″ poly foam (pink foam).

These three layers work together with the pillow top cover to provide comfort and transitional support.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.75″ thick and made of an 8.0″ pocketed coil unit followed by a 0.75″ support foam.

The coils are not zoned, but there are stronger coils along the outer edge of the mattress for improved support.
Product Evolution
The Signature Hybrid by Brooklyn Bedding has been around since 2017 and remains one of their most popular mattress models.
We have personally tested 3 versions of this mattress—the 2021 version, the 2024 version, and the 2026 version. This mattress has gone through a number of changes, with the most significant changes happening in 2024 and 2026.
2021 Version

2024 Version

2026 Version

In 2024, the Signature Hybrid added an optional cooling cover and a thicker overall profile. It changed from an 11″ mattress to a 12″ mattress, which allows for a thicker comfort layer as well as taller coils (8″ coils on the 2024 version compared to 6″ coils on the 2021 version we tested).
In January 2026, Brooklyn Bedding expanded the foam layers and added a new gel swirl memory foam. The cooling cover was also updated to include a PCM (phase change material). PCM material gives the mattress a cool-to-the-touch feel, improving cooling and limiting heat retention. Brooklyn bedding calls this layer “ThermoPhase”.
The price of the mattress also increased from $999/queen up to $1,099 (with the standard cover). If you opt for the improved pillow top cover, the price jumps up to $1,299 for a queen.
