Best For
- Fantastic pressure relief—buttery smooth and comfortable
- Ultra low motion transfer
- Rapid heat dissipation, especially for memory foam
- Ultra-thick 6” comfort layer
Considerations
- Sitting edge support leaves much to be desired
- Slightly slower response time for a full recovery of all materials (0.8 seconds)
Our Verdict
The Nectar Premier has a classic memory foam feel, high contour, excellent hug, excellent pressure relief, lower bounce, and ultra-low motion transfer.
The edge support is not great while sitting, but redeems itself a bit while lying down. It also has a faster-than-expected response time (considering the memory foam top layers). The contouring pressure relief is the real story about the Nectar Premier mattress. It is absolutely fantastic when it comes to pressure relief and a delight to lie on.

Performance Tests
At NapLab, we put each mattress to the test.
We test 9 different factors that impact the comfort and feel of the mattress. Testing categories include:
Test | Rating |
---|---|
Cooling | Excellent |
Sinkage | Moderate |
Motion Transfer | Extremely Low |
Response Time | Extremely Fast |
Bounce | Low |
Edge Support | Poor |
Sex | Very Good |

How Is The Nectar Premier Different?
The Nectar Premier mattress has an overall performance that was below average, but a price point that is also below average—a savings of 10% compared to the average memory foam mattress.
Advantages
Advantages for the Premier include slightly better cooling than average, very low levels of motion transfer, and a thicker-than-average comfort layer and overall thickness (2.1″ thicker than average).
Neutral Factors
Sinkage levels are just slightly more than average (0.05″ difference) and it has 26% less bounce than average. These factors are neither good nor bad, but certainly worth mentioning and do contribute to the feel of the mattress.
Disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage of the Premier mattress is likely poor edge support. In our tests, we measured 7.25″ edge sinkage, over 3″ more sinkage than average.
This much sinkage negatively affects the sex score, which in turn brings down the overall score a bit.
Factor | Nectar Premier | Average |

Cooling Test
Phase change material gives the mattress a cool-to-the-touch feel when you first lie down, and also when you change positions onto segments of the mattress that haven’t yet been lied upon. Our objective data showed a maximum temperature of 90.5° F on the surface.
This is a full 1.1° cooler than the average max temperature across all the mattresses we’ve tested, which is 91.6° F.
Baseline Temp.
80.7° F
Max. Temp.
90.5° F
Ending Temp.
86.6° F
Max. Temp.
Ending Temp.
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Memory foam mattresses are typically more susceptible to heat retention, so it was great to see a relatively cool surface-level temperature.
Heat Dissipation Over Time
Heat dissipation is pretty good, especially for a memory foam mattress. Within 1 minute after getting off of the mattress the temperature had dropped by 2.9°, after which it continued a more gradual decline to 86.6° F after 5 minutes.
I was generally impressed with the level of heat dissipation. Subjectively speaking, I felt cool during my test on the Nectar Premier mattress.
My body didn’t feel hot, despite a greater contour and hug around the body, and a top layer of memory foam.
In my view, most sleepers will find the Nectar Premier to be a cool enough mattress. However, some sleepers who sleep naturally warm, as well as heavier sleepers, may find it doesn’t offer as much cooling as they need.
Sinkage Test
In our pressure point sinkage tests, we measured the Nectar Premier’s sinkage at 2.23”.
Sinkage Depth
2.23″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
This is very slightly higher than the average sinkage of across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, which is 2.20”.
The sinkage level on the Premier creates excellent pressure relief, body contouring, and an appropriate hug.
Motion Transfer Test
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
Motion transfer is very low. This ensures that if you sleep with a partner you’ll be less likely to disturb their sleep.
Max. Acceleration
1.3 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-1.5 m/s²
Accel. Range
2.8 m/s²
Our accelerometer tests measured an acceleration range of 2.8 m/s². This is among the lowest we have tested to date, and considerably lower than the average.
On average our motion transfer test typically measures a level of 8.33 m/s².
Response Test
Response time was fast. In our tests, the response time measured 0.4 seconds before the materials had mostly recovered—full recovery took 0.8 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.4 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.8 sec.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
While the full recovery time isn’t quite as fast as what we’ve seen from many other mattresses, the “mostly” recovered metric is very near the fastest times we’ve measured.
For many sleepers, this means that you will not experience a “stuck” feeling while sleeping during the night.
The Nectar Premier mattress does a nice job at adapting quickly to changes in your movement and contouring your body in whatever position you happen to be sleeping in.
Bounce Test
We measured a bounce height of 7.1”, which is fairly high, especially for a memory foam mattress. However, most of that bounce height results from the initial drop, and not the rebound.
Max. Depth
6.12″
Max. Rebound
0.98″
Total Bounce
7.1″
Our total bounce height measurement is the sum of the maximum sinkage depth and maximum rebound height from dropping a medicine ball.
Max. Sinkage Depth
Max. Bounce Height
The level of bounce is documented in the video below.
The maximum depth on the drop sank to 6.12”, with the max height on the rebound hitting 0.98”. For general-purpose use, this type of bounce dynamic will most likely be fine for many sleepers.
However, for sex, it’s the type of feel that creates lots of give but not much pushback.
As a result, when you’re doing the dance without pants you may find that there is something lacking on the bounce.
Edge Support Test
Edge support just wasn’t great. While sitting we measured a sinkage depth of 7.25” under the legs.
Max. Sinkage
7.25″
Lying Support
Very Good
This is the most compression we have measured in any mattress to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.
Sitting, 200 lbs.
If you frequently use the mattress edge to watch tv, get ready in the morning, or for amorous activities, you are likely to be less than thrilled by the performance.
While sitting edge performance leaves much to be desired, the support while lying on the edge was definitely better.
It’s not quite to the high-performance level that we experienced with the Nectar Premier Copper mattress, however, it’s respectably good enough for most sleepers.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.
Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.
If you lie directly on the mattress and/or you have a heavy body, you may find it’s not good enough. In this case, I’d suggest considering the Nectar Premier Copper instead.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 60% | 9.3 | Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 7.9 | Poor |
Noise | 10% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.5 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.5 | Excellent |
For Nectar, these individual factors generated a sex score of 9.1.
Let’s break down the good and bad.
First off, the bounce on the Nectar Premier is excellent. Especially for a memory foam mattress, I was surprised by how good it was. Combined with a flawless noise score, and good pressure relief and cooling, the Nectar is likely to be a very comfortable mattress to get some action on.
The biggest disadvantage of the Premier has got to be the edge support, it’s just really lacking there—especially when seated directly on the edge.
If sex on the edge of the mattress isn’t in your playbook, the poor support may be a non-issue, but definitely worth pointing out.
Pressure Relief Test
Overall, we found pressure relief to be fantastic. The Nectar Premier offers a buttery smooth feel.
The mattress does a fantastic job in all sleeping positions of alleviating pressure, creating a nice supportive and comfortable contour around the body.
Comfort Layer
6.0″
Support Layer
7.0″
The comfort layer is 3.0″ of gel memory foam, which may not seem too impressive, but it is coupled by a secondary layer of 3.0″ transitional foam.
Together, that’s 6.0″ of material that sits atop the support foams.
This strategy helps relieve pressure points and is likely a more comfortable feel for all sleeping positions, especially side sleepers.
Off-Gassing Test
There was a strong smell upon the initial unboxing of the Premier, but it dissipated relatively quickly (about 4 days).
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
4 days
For a memory foam mattress, these results are pretty typical of what we see across the board.

How firm is Nectar?
The firmness of the Nectar Premier mattress is around a 5.5 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm.
It’s basically a true medium, although sleepers of different weights may find it to be slightly softer or firmer
I am a pretty lightweight sleeper, around 140 pounds, so similarly sized sleepers would likely find it to have a softer feel.
Heavier sleepers may experience a firmness closer to the 6-6.5 range.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Size, weight, and sleeping position determine exact preferences, but overall, most people should find the Nectar Premier to be comfortable and supportive.
Here is a table breakdown of who the Nectar Premier may be best for. Find your weight and sleeping position below and see if it’s a good fit below.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |

Design
The Nectar Premier is a foam mattress that is made up of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam base. It has a balanced feel of low motion transfer, fast response, and good cooling.
Type
Memory Foam
Thickness
13″
Firmness
5.5
The edge support is a bit lacking for sitting, but better when lying down.
It has a thicker profile than the original Nectar mattress and may be a nice choice if you’re looking for that thicker profile and an ultra-thick comfort foam layer.
Materials
The Premier is an all-foam mattress with four foam layers and a zipper cover.
The exact material layers break down as follows (from top to bottom):
- 3.0″ gel memory foam
- 3.0″ poly foam
- 7.0″ support foam
The Cover
The cover of the Nectar Premier is thin and stretchy. It has a waffle feel to it and is soft and breathable.
The cover also has a zipper design which makes it easy to remove this cover when it’s time to clean the mattress.
Simply zip off and toss the cover into the washing machine—cold wash, tumble dry (low temp), and zip it back on. The whole process is simple and it’s a nice design add since cleaning mattresses can be notoriously painful.
The Comfort Layer
There are two foam layers that combine to make the comfort layer. The first layer is a 3.0″ thick gel memory foam.
The top layer of gel memory foam is good for that initial compression, hug, and comfort. Gel being infused into this memory foam helps with heat retention as well.
Directly below the gel is a secondary layer comfort foam—a 3.0″ thick poly foam.
The poly foam helps with response time, pressure relief, and breathability.
The Support Layer
The support foam is actually two fused foams that act as one. These foams are ultra-dense and designed to provide deep-level support.
All sleepers, regardless of weight and sleeping position, will interact with the support foams in different ways.
This is a critical layer for the overall mattress composition.
Product Evolution
Nectar Sleep was first established in 2017, hitting the market with a 10″ memory foam mattress.
The Premier lineup, featuring the Premier Copper and the Premier Memory Foam (this review) wasn’t launched until 2021 and are their newest models to date.
Since its launch, there have been no major design changes to the Nectar Premier mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? Here’s a list of some of the most frequently asked questions about the Nectar Premier memory foam mattress.
The cost of a Nectar Premier mattress varies depending on what size you’re looking for. Here are the current prices:
Twin: $799
Twin XL: $849
Full: $1,099
Queen: $1,199
King: $1,499
Cal. King: $1,499
There are four differences: (1) thickness, (2) firmness, (3) phase change material, and (4) price.
(1) The Nectar is 12″ thick and the Nectar Premier is 13″ thick. With that extra inch, the Premier is able to provide 1″ more of transitional comfort material.
(2) This extra material gives the Premier a softer feel—5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale while the original Nectar is closer to 6.5 out of 10.
(3) The Premier also has a phase change material located right below the cover which helps to improve cooling. As a result, the Premier scored a 0.5 point higher in our cooling tests.
(4) The final difference is price—the Nectar Premier is about twice the cost of the original Nectar.
The purchase of any Nectar mattress comes with a 365-night trial period.
No. The best way to try out the Nectar mattress is to take advantage of the 365-night trial period. Nectar believes that sleeping all night on their mattress, instead of a 10-15 minute trial period in a store, is a more accurate representation of whether or not Nectar is a good fit for you.
The Nectar Premier is 13″ thick.
