Our Verdict
The Molecule Reflex Elite is a 14.00″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam, memory foam, and a pocketed coil support base. It has a thin, cool-to-the-touch cover.
The Molecule Reflex Elite is available in two firmness levels — Plush and Firm. We tested the Plush version and found it to be closer to a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
The Plush version of this mattress has deep sinkage and high levels of bounce. Its balanced body contour makes it more appealing to a wider range of sleepers.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.10, ranking the mattress in the top 17% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Molecule Reflex Elite is $2,799 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 79% more expensive than the average hybrid we’ve tested. This costs sleepers over $1,200 extra, compared to the average. While the price is high, you’re also getting a mattress that performs significantly better than average. If you’re looking for a luxury hybrid designed specifically for muscle recovery, the Molecule Reflex Elite could be a good option.

How is Molecule Reflex Elite Different?
The Molecule Reflex Elite is a 14.00″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than average, but also a price tag that is notably higher than average as well.
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Molecule Reflex Elite include better cooling performance, a more restrained level of motion transfer, and faster material responsiveness.
For couples, the sex score is also significantly higher than average, largely thanks to its higher level of bounce.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has a deep level of sinkage and a high level of bounce. Both bounce and sinkage are considered neutral factors since different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas.

Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Molecule Reflex Elite include slightly worse edge support, a shorter 100-night trial period, and a higher price (79% more than the average hybrid).
Cooling Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not experience any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
79.2° F
Max. Temp.
90.7° F
Ending Temp.
83.8° F
This mattress has a few different design attributes that are helping to improve cooling. First, we have a thin, non-quilted cover. Said cover is highly breathable and is also woven with cooling fibers. Those cooling fibers give it a significant cool-to-the-touch feel, and the cover was able to maintain much of that cooler feel for the duration of our cooling tests.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In addition, the foam layers have more of an open cell design, which improves their breathability. And arguably more impactful, the poly foam layer (which is the topmost comfort foam) is infused with phase change materials, which help to draw heat away from the surface.
Lastly, the mattress has a hybrid design, bringing more airflow into the mattress.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.7° F. This is 0.4° warmer than the average of 90.3° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 2.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 2.1 degrees less cool than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.47″. This is 0.21″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.26″, based on all of our tests to date. The mattress creates a balanced body-contouring hug.
Moreover, this mattress has a bit of a unique feel. I can certainly feel the viscoelastic properties of the memory foam layer activating in the core of the mattress.
Sinkage Depth
2.47″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

There is a nice degree of body contouring hug and pressure relief coming from that layer. And yet, the topmost foam is highly responsive and has a higher degree of pushback.
As a result, the mattress rides a line between feeling more buoyant and resilient, while still creating an underlying feeling of hug around the body. It’s a bit of a unique feel, but one that I think many types of sleepers can enjoy.
Motion Transfer Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 6.32 m/s². This is 28% less motion transfer than the average of 8.82 m/s².
Accel. Range
6.32 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.34 seconds
The lower motion transfer is primarily a product of the super-thick comfort layer. The comfort layer is considerably thicker than average at 7.25”. All of that extra foam does a nice job of absorbing and dispersing energy.
While the Reflex Elite does use a coil unit, said coil unit is only 6.0” thick, which is notably thinner than the more typical 8.0” coil unit we see. A super-thick foam comfort layer combined with a thinner coil unit sets the stage for excellent motion transfer mitigation.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines notably thereafter, but we do see a modest secondary energy spike around 0.6 seconds.
By 1.34 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero energy levels, 0.42 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.92 seconds. I’m certainly less than thrilled with the motion duration, which is considerably higher than average.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Even so, given the motion intensity is significantly better than average, it’s hard to complain too much. Overall, I’m pleased with this level of motion and I expect most sleepers will find it more than satisfactory.
Response Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has an extremely fast material response.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.3 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.72 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds. These material recovery speeds are as fast as it gets and they are tied for 1st as the fastest we’ve tested to date.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The effective instant material recovery speed ensures the mattress is easy to move around on and you’ll never feel “stuck” in the foam layers. Overall, this is a really impressive response time, especially considering the mattress uses a memory foam layer within the core of the design.
Bounce Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 10.76″. This is 2.16″ more bounce than the average of 8.60″, based on all of our tests to date. I was quite surprised at this level of bounce.
Max. Depth
4.62″
Max. Rebound
6.14″
Total Bounce
10.76″
Typically, mattresses with a super thick comfort layer don’t create a high degree of resiliency or bounce. However, that’s not what we measured here. The foams used are all highly responsive and quickly spring back to shape. Those types of foams, in combination with a thin, non-quilted cover and supportive coil unit, create the right conditions to create higher bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Higher bounce is beneficial for ease of movement and sex performance. And in most cases, it also negatively impacts motion transfer. However, the Molecule Reflect Elite managed to keep motion intensity well below average, while still delivering higher-than-average bounce.
This is a best-case scenario when it comes to bounce, as we get the benefits, like ease of movement and sex, while also keeping motion transfer acceptably low.
Edge Support Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has good sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.25″. This is 0.43″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.82″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with a full perimeter of reinforced support foam. That foam is 3” wide and 9” tall. Said foam is having a significant positive impact on both sitting and lying edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

While it’s fair to say there is room for improvement when it comes to edge support, the overall edge performance is still reasonably good and I expect will be sufficiently supportive for most sleepers.
Sex Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has excellent sex performance. First up, let’s talk about the biggest win, which was noise, earning a perfect 10/10 score.
In addition, cooling, pressure relief, and bounce all earned excellent scores. In our bounce test, we measured a total bounce height of 10.76”, which is considerably more bounce than average. All of that extra bounce helps make sex easier, less tiring, and more fun.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 9.2 | Very High |
| Edge Support | 20% | 8.4 | Good |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Lastly, we have edge support, which earned a good score, but also one that is far from great. In our edge test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.25”. This is notably worse than average. A less supportive edge means we have less usable surface area on the mattress, which is detrimental to sex performance.

Despite the limited edge support performance, the overall sex score is excellent and notably better than average.
Pressure Relief Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body. The mattress is equipped with 7.25″ of comfort material, which is 2.87″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.38″, based on all of our tests to date.
Comfort Layer
7.25″
Support Layer
6.75″
The Reflex Elite is equipped with a thin, non-quilted cover. This type of cover creates a more pronounced and immediate body-contouring hug, as the thin cover lets the body make greater contact with the comfort foams below.
In our testing, I found the mattress has a bit of a unique feel. You can definitely feel the memory foam layer within the core of the mattress. That layer is creating a nice degree of body-contouring hug.

However, we have a thicker, highly responsive poly foam layer immediately atop that layer. That poly foam layer creates a higher degree of pushback, nearly pushing into more of a buoyant and resilient feel. That said, together they create more of a blended and unique feel that delivers some of the feel of body-contouring memory foam and some of the feel of highly responsive, resilient poly foam.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.26 | 0.82 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |

| Back Sleepers | 0.19 | 0.53 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.17 | 0.82 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be excellent.
Off-Gassing Test
The Molecule Reflex Elite had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 7 days. This is 0.6 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.6 days.

Company
Molecule mattresses come with a 100-night trial period and a 15-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 8.0 | 100 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 15 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 122+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 241 nights, 118 nights more than Molecule offers. The trial period is shorter than I would have liked, but it’s not unheard of in the industry and still gives sleepers over three months to try the mattress. If you don’t love it, you can initiate a return for a 100% refund.
The Molecule mattress has a 15-year warranty, compared with the average of 13 years, 2 years less than this mattress. This excludes the 43% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.

How firm is Molecule Reflex Elite?
The Molecule Reflex Elite is offered in two different firmness options, which they call “Plush” and “Firm.” We tested the Plush model. However, I wouldn’t describe it as having a particularly soft or plush feel.
The Plush option has a medium-firm feel, which is a rating of 6 out of 10. To be clear, that’s a perfectly fine firmness level, and it’s ideal for most sleepers. However, calling it “plush” while having a medium-firm feel could cause some confusion.

We did not test the Firm option. That being said, I would estimate the firmness at an 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale.

Support & Sleeping Positions
The Molecule Reflex Elite offers excellent support. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 6.75″ support layer. This is 1.23″ thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.98″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 7.25″ |
| Support Layer | 6.75″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm and Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
Mattresses that deliver the best support do so by meeting two major requirements. First, they support the body, creating a neutral spinal alignment. And second, they comfort the body, creating sufficient pressure relief. The Reflex Elite met those requirements without any issues.
This mattress is available in two firmnesses, plush and firm. We tested the plush version, which we rated at a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, giving it a medium-firm feel. This feel is appropriate for all sleeping positions and the vast majority of sleepers.

If you sleep exclusively on your stomach or back and/or if you just know you absolutely love a firm feel, then the firm version could be an option. That said, most sleepers will be best served by the plush version.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Plush Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | No | No | No |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Moving on, in all mattress tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open to assess the material quality. In doing so, we found the memory foam at a 2.89 PCF (pounds per cubic foot). That’s quite a bit south of what we ideally hope to see. A 4.0 PCF memory foam is what I’d consider an excellent density level.
Poly foams ranged from 2.03 to 2.99 PCF. That’s a better density range for poly foam, so no issues there. Typically, denser foams perform better, last longer, and sag less.

The coil gauge measured at 16.5. That’s fairly thin wire and notably thinner than what I’d expect for a mattress at this price point. Similar to foams, thicker wires (lower gauge) provide better support and durability. Overall, I’d say the material specs are a bit of a mixed bag.
Yes, I’m happy with the poly foam densities, but I’m less-than-thrilled by the 2.89 PCF memory foam or a 16.5 gauge coil unit, especially at this luxury-level pricing tier.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Molecule Reflex Elite is excellent.

The Cover
The Molecule Reflex Elite has a thin, stretch knit cover that is 0.25″ thick and has a cool-to-the-touch feel. It is made up of a blend of polyester and polyethylene fibers.

This cover is non-removable. Molecule recommends spot cleaning with mild detergent and cold water as needed.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 7.25″, which does include the thin cover. Beneath the cover is a 2.50″ polyfoam (gray foam) followed by a 1.50″ memory foam (blue foam).

Beneath these layers, there are two additional layers of 1.50″ poly foam. These two layers are a bit of a transitional layer. From our tests, you can see how they are positioned within the reinforced edge support foam, above the support coils.
These materials help to provide comfort and transitional support as sleepers engage more deeply with the base materials.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 6.75″ thick and made of a 6.00″ pocketed coil unit followed by a 0.75″ support foam base.

Product Evolution
Molecule first released the Reflex collection in 2023, which included four models. In 2024, an additional model was released at the January Las Vegas market. This rounded out the collection with three foam mattresses and two hybrids.
Today (2026), there are six models listed in the Reflex collection, with the top-tier option being the Reflex Elite Hybrid.
