Best For
- Excellent cooling performance
- Exceptional pressure relief and two firmness options
- Organic certified—GOTS, GOLS, and GreenGuard Gold
Considerations
- Lacking edge support, not great for sleepers who commonly sit or sleep at the edge of the bed
- Lower sex score (largely due to low bounce)
- Strong odor that took 10 days to fully dissipate
Our Verdict
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is an 11.00″ latex foam mattress made of three layers of organic latex foam. The materials are GOTS, GOLS, and GreenGuard Gold certified, making it a great option for sleepers who prioritize more natural materials.
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is available in two firmness levels — soft and medium-firm. We tested the medium version, which we found to have more of a soft feel (4 out of 10). Although I didn’t test it personally, I would estimate the medium-firm version to have a medium-firm feel (6 out of 10).
This mattress has very deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. It has a balanced contour and a more generalized level of hug to it.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.15, ranking the mattress in the top 11% of all mattresses tested to date. In addition, it is the #2 ranked best all-foam latex mattress we’ve tested to date.
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is $2,649 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 77% more expensive than the average latex foam mattress. Although the price is high, the materials are high-quality, organic, and performance is among the best we’ve tested to date.

How is Plushbeds Botanical Bliss Different?
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is an 11.00″ latex foam mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than average and a price that is also higher than average. The result is a high-performing organic mattress at a premium price that delivers the quality you’d expect at this cost.
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Botanical Bliss include better cooling, low levels of motion transfer, very fast material response time, and exceptional pressure relief. This mattress has a 5.25″ comfort layer (where the average is only 4.33″ thick).
The thicker materials help to provide better support without creating pressure points. For side sleepers specifically, this can be especially advantageous.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. These two factors are considered neutral since different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas.

If you like to sleep “on” the mattress, you may not enjoy this feel, but for deep engagement and a mattress that “hugs” you, it will be ideal.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Plushbeds Botanical Bliss include weaker edge support and a lower sex score. The low bounce really kills the sex performance, but it’s possible that the firmer version of this mattress could perform better in this category.
The smell is a bit slower than the average as well. The average smell duration is 8 days, and the Plushbeds mattress stopped smelling in 10 days.
While this is a longer smell duration than I’d like to see, it’s not uncommon. The Botanical Bliss has a rubber smell because of the latex, so it’s not a chemical smell, but it’s still strong.
Lastly, the high price could be a disadvantage for budget-conscious sleepers looking for something organic. Priced 77% more than average, the Botanical Bliss may simply be out of reach for sleepers on a budget.
Cooling Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
76.8° F
Max. Temp.
89.9° F
Ending Temp.
79.4° F
Latex as a material type naturally resists heat buildup, so the all-latex design of the Botanical Bliss is the biggest factor helping cooling. Beyond that, we have wool quilted within the cover and an organic cotton exterior fabric.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In some cooling tests on other mattresses, we’ve seen quilted wool struggle more with breathability. However, this cover and fabric seems to breathe well.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.9° F. This is 0.3° cooler than the average of 90.2° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.9 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.9 degrees less cool than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has very deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.68″. This is 0.43″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.68″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. Notably, this mattress has a classic latex feel. There is a more restrained and generalized hugging feel around the body.
The hug of latex is in contrast to the hug of memory foam, which is dramatic, exacting, and precisely forms to the body’s shape. The more relaxed hug of latex creates a more generalized circular depression around the body and does not precisely conform to the body’s shape.
This feel is neither good nor bad, but it is a specific feel, one you’ll need to prefer in order to be comfortable on the Botanical Bliss.
Motion Transfer Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.51 m/s². This is 37% less motion transfer than the average of 8.77 m/s².
Accel. Range
5.51 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.03 seconds
Typically, latex mattresses have more motion transfer; however, that’s not what we measured here.
Seemingly, the thicker 12” design, softer feel, and deeper sinkage are helping to reduce some of the natural resiliency and springiness of latex, which allows for less motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.25 seconds. Motion declines notably immediately thereafter, but remains at non-zero levels until after 1 second.
By 1.03 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.13 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.90 seconds. While the motion duration is a touch worse than average, motion intensity is considerably lower than average.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Overall, I’m pleased with this level of motion. It’s considerably better than the average among all mattresses, but especially compared to other latex mattresses.
Response Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has an extremely fast material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.3 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.72 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
This is effectively an instant material recovery speed. Latex as a material type is incredibly springy and resilient. These material attributes allow it to quickly recover to its original shape after it has been decompressed.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The fast responsiveness ensures the mattress is easy to move around on and you’ll never feel any type of a “stuck” feel in the mattress. These responsiveness speeds are on par with the fastest we’ve tested across all of our tests.
Bounce Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.69″. This is 1.00″ less bounce than the average of 8.69″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
6.73″
Max. Rebound
0.96″
Total Bounce
7.69″
While latex often has more bounce than average, the Botanical Bliss does not. That more restrained level of bounce is most likely caused by the soft feel and deeper sinkage.
These attributes restrain some of the natural resiliency and springiness of latex, thereby reducing bounce. The lower bounce is a major reason why motion transfer is also lower.
However, it’s a double-edged sword, as the lower bounce also makes sex performance worse.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
As such, you should consider what’s most important to you: lower motion transfer or better sex performance? That choice can help you determine if the lower bounce would be problematic or beneficial for you as an individual sleeper.
Edge Support Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has fair sitting edge support and fair lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.75″
Lying Support
Fair
Reinforced Edge
No
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.75″. This is 0.91″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.84″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was fair in all sleeping positions. This mattress lacks any type of reinforced edge support (which is typical for an all-foam latex mattress). That choice is certainly having a negative impact on edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Latex as a material type often struggles more with edge support, but especially in cases with an all-foam latex design, a softer feel, and deeper sinkage.
Those attributes set the stage for less robust edge support, which we measured and experienced in our tests. To be fair, we tested the medium version, which had a soft feel.
I expect the medium-firm version would have less sinkage and therefore create better edge support than what we experienced on the medium version.
Sex Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal, cooling is excellent, and pressure relief is outstanding. The mattress feels great to be on and creates ample comfort.

Moving on to the not-so-great performance areas. First up, we have edge support, which we measured at 4.75” of sitting edge sinkage. This is considerably deeper sinkage than average and as a result means the edge simply isn’t super robust or supportive, thereby reducing the total surface area for amorous activities.
In addition, bounce isn’t especially strong either.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 7.3 | Moderate |
| Edge Support | 20% | 7.8 | Fair |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
We measured bounce at 7.69”. This is less bounce than average. For amorous activities, more bounce is almost always better than less.
The more limited bounce on the Botanical Bliss simply means it’s more tiring and strenuous to have sex on the mattress. Overall sex performance is fine, but it’s also far from great.
Pressure Relief Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of pressure points on my body.
The mattress is equipped with 5.25″ of comfort material, which is 0.65″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.35″, based on all of our tests to date.
Comfort Layer
5.25″
Support Layer
5.75″
In all mattress tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open to examine the material layers. In doing so, I’m pleased with what I see. The layers all look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand.
The combination of high-quality latex, wool, and cotton alongside a considerably thicker-than-average comfort layer creates the right material conditions to deliver incredible pressure relief and comfort.

The all-foam latex design creates a more restrained and generalized body contouring hug, delivering a circular depression where your body lies.
This feel isn’t good or bad, but it is a specific one, one you’ll need to prefer to enjoy the comfort dynamic provided by this mattress.
Lastly, in our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.72, which is within the 1.0 PSI threshold I ideally want to see all mattresses within.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.44 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.72 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.43 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Smell Test
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 10 days. This is 2.6 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.4 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Smell Period
10 days
To be fair, the strong smell coming from the mattress isn’t the same as the intense VOCs coming from poly and memory foam mattresses. Even so, latex mattresses do have a strong rubber smell that many sleepers find offensive.
Fortunately, the smell only lasts a week and a half.

Company
Plushbeds mattresses come with a 365-night trial period and a lifetime warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 10 | 365 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 10 | Lifetime |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 116+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 191 nights, 174 nights shorter than Plushbeds’ trial period.

When we consider the longer trial and the longer warranty, Plushbeds carries a strong company score.
How firm is Plushbeds Botanical Bliss?
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is available in 2 firmness options and 3 height options. They call the two firmness options Medium and Medium-Firm. We tested the Medium 12” version, but it had a softer feel than expected.
The “Medium” actually has a soft feel that we rate at a 4 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm. It’s possible that the thinner variations may feel more firm and line up with their “medium” rating.

I didn’t test the Medium-Firm option personally, but based on my assessment of the materials, I agree with the medium-firm rating and would give it a 6 out of 10 firmness rating.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is excellent. During our tests, I felt reasonably well supported in all sleeping positions, but the soft feel was definitely the most supportive while lying on my side.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 5.25″ |
| Support Layer | 5.75″ |
| Firmness | Soft and Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | No |
The mattress is equipped with a 5.75″ support layer. This is 2.22″ thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.97″, based on all of our tests to date. For a mattress to create great support, it needs to keep the spine supported in a neutral alignment, while also providing enough comfort and pressure relief.
The Botanical Bliss meets both of those requirements without issues. The only thing that gives me pause is the softer feel and deeper sinkage.

That support dynamic is amazing for side sleepers, but can feel uncomfortable for some back and stomach sleepers.
If you’re a back and stomach sleeper, you’ll be better off going with the medium-firm version of the mattress (not the medium version, which is what we tested).
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Medium Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
| 150-250 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
| 250-300 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
Medium-Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Moving on, this mattress does not use any type of zoned support. Instead, we have consistent support from head to foot of the mattress. The lack of zoned support is typical for an all-foam latex hybrid.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is excellent.
Design
The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss is an 11.00″ latex foam mattress that comes in two firmness options—”Medium” and “Medium-Firm. We tested the “Medium” version, which had a soft feel and I would estimate the “Medium-Firm” version has a medium-firm feel.
The mattress is available in 9″, 10″, and 11″ versions.
| Design Factor | Data |

| Type | Latex Foam |
| Thickness | 11.00″ |
| Cover Type | Quilted |
| Weight | 172 lbs. |
| Has Handles | Yes |
| Fiberglass-Free | Yes |
| Ships in a Box | Yes |
This mattress has a quilted cover with grid stitching and handles on the sides of the mattress to help with rotating or transporting your mattress. At 172 lbs, it’s extremely heavy, yet still ships compressed into a box.

Product Evolution
Plushbeds was founded in 2008 and started out of the gate as a direct-to-consumer brand. The Botanical Bliss was launched that same year.
Other “Bliss” models include the Signature Bliss (plush, pillow top cover) and the Luxury Bliss (quilted cover). The Botanical Bliss is the only all-latex option among these Bliss models. The other mattresses are latex hybrids with a pocketed coil support layer.

The Sleep EZ is a 10″ latex foam mattress available in 6 firmness configurations—soft, medium, medium-firm, slightly firm, and firm. When you order this mattress, you select a firmness, but then once it arrives, you can easily unzip the layers and swap them around to customize the firmness. The overall performance is lower than Plushbeds, but so is the price.
For Budget

Latex Mattress Factory Luxerion
Under $1,500 for Queen
The Latex Mattress Factory Luxerion is a 10″ latex foam mattress available in 3 firmness levels—soft, medium-firm, and slightly firm. This mattress has the lowest price among all alternatives mentioned in this review. Motion transfer is lower and it only has a 100-night trial, but overall it’s a great pick for sleepers on a budget.
