How is Leesa Natural Luxe Different?
The Leesa Natural Luxe is a 12.50″ latex hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than average, with a price that is lower than average. This results in a mattress that is an exceptional value.
Advantages
Beyond the low price, the Leesa Natural Luxe offers better cooling, faster material responsiveness, better edge support, better sex performance, and better pressure relief. This mattress off-gases in only 1 day, a full week shorter than the average duration.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep sinkage and high levels of bounce. The body contour is balanced and it has a more generalized contour, like other latex hybrids that we’ve tested.

Disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage of the Leesa Natural Luxe mattress is higher levels of motion transfer. In our tests, we measured 10% higher levels of motion than the average mattress.
Cooling Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not experience any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
78.1° F
Max. Temp.
90.7° F
Ending Temp.
83.1° F
While cooling wasn’t perfect, it was still better than average. This mattress has a few material and design choices helping to improve cooling. First up, we have the latex, which naturally resists heat buildup.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In addition, the other poly foam layers, while not immune to heat build-up, do appear to be fairly breathable. Lastly, we have the coil support base, which brings plenty of airflow into the mattress. This combination works to deliver solid cooling performance.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.7° F. This is 0.4° warmer than the average of 90.3° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.9 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.9 degrees less cool than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has very deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.87″. This is 0.61″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.26″, based on all of our tests to date. The mattress creates a balanced body-contouring hug.
Sinkage Depth
2.87″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The Leesa Natural Luxe uses a mix of wool quilted cover, latex foam, poly foam, and coils. Those materials work together to create a more blended feel. While this mattress does use latex, it doesn’t feel like a latex or latex hybrid mattress. The poly foams in the mattress are adding their own feel to the mix and creating the more blended feel.
Latex by itself can create a more significant polarizing feel. Not everyone loves the feel of latex, which can be more buoyant, restrained in its body-contouring hug, and create more of a floating feel. By blending latex with two other poly foam layers, we get a more balanced and even feel that many types of sleepers can enjoy.
Motion Transfer Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.65 m/s². This is 9% more motion transfer than the average of 8.84 m/s².
Accel. Range
9.65 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.19 seconds
The higher than average motion transfer is pretty typical for a hybrid mattress that uses latex. Both latex and coils are highly resilient, springy, and highly responsive. This combination delivers more bounce and isn’t able to disperse energy as well as many other mattress types.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.25 seconds. Motion declines thereafter, but we do see a secondary energy spike from 0.5 to 0.6 seconds.
After which, motion declines and then remains fairly steady until around 1.0 seconds. By 1.19 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.27 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.92 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

When we look at the complete motion transfer picture it’s fair to say this mattress leaves much to be desired. Both the motion intensity and duration are worse than average.
Response Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.6 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date. In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.6 seconds, which is 0.43 seconds faster than the average of 1.03 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
While the fully recovered response time wasn’t quite instant, it’s also not far from it. These material recovery speeds are more than fast enough to facilitate excellent ease of movement on the mattress and will help prevent feeling any type of “stuck” feeling in the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 10.19″. This is 1.59″ more bounce than the average of 8.60″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
6.89″
Max. Rebound
3.30″
Total Bounce
10.19″
The higher than average level of bounce is a product of the hybrid design, latex comfort layer, and other poly foam layers that are both highly responsive and resilient. Together these materials deliver a higher degree of pushback, creating more bounce on the surface of the mattress.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The higher bounce is especially beneficial for sex performance and ease of movement. That said, more bounce is also the reason we see motion transfer being worse than average.
Edge Support Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has excellent sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.50″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.50″. This is 0.31″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.81″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with two rows of reinforced coils running along the left and right sides of the mattress. Those coils are 15.5 gauge (according to Leesa).
Those reinforced coils, in combination with the quality materials and thicker-than-average total mattress height, create the right material conditions to create strong edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Even so, it’s important to note that there are no reinforced coils on the head or foot of the mattress. So while edge support is quite good on the sides of the mattress, it’s less impressive along the head and foot.
Sex Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has excellent sex performance. First up, let’s talk through what the mattress does best, which includes creating minimal noise and delivering excellent edge support.
In our sitting edge tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.50”, which is notably better than average. The more robust edge extends the usable surface area of the mattress, which is beneficial for amorous activities.

In addition, both pressure relief and cooling also earned excellent scores, meaning we have a comfortable feel.
Lastly, we need to talk about bounce, which earned a good score, but one that didn’t quite make it into the excellent performance tier. In our bounce tests, we measured a total bounce height of 10.19”.
That is notably more bounce than average. More bounce is almost always better than less when it comes to sex performance. Ideally, we’ll see 12” or more, which helps to greatly facilitate ideal amorous activity.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 8.9 | High |
| Edge Support | 20% | 9.4 | Excellent |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
While the Leesa Natural Luxe is a bit south of that ideal threshold, it’s still better than average and more than enough (when combined with the strong scores for other testing factors) for the mattress to earn an excellent overall sex score.
Pressure Relief Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
4.00″
Support Layer
8.50″
The mattress is equipped with 4.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.38″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.38″, based on all of our tests to date. The Leesa Natural Luxe uses a quilted cover (with wool and memory foam), latex foam, two different types of poly foam, and coils to create a more blended feel.
This feel delivers a more balanced body-contouring hug with an even, non-polarizing feel that many types of sleepers can enjoy. In some ways, this mattress is a bit of an oddity, as it’s marketed as a natural mattress, while using memory foam and poly foam layers.

While that may make it less similar to other natural mattresses on the market, it’s also the reason the mattress is able to create better pressure relief and a more balanced feel that’s suitable to the needs of most sleepers.
Many natural mattresses only use latex as the primary comfort layer, which is a more polarizing feel that not all sleepers enjoy. The Leesa Natural Luxe’s mix of material types help to solve that problem, and in our tests we found the comfort to be better than average.
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be excellent.
Off-Gassing Test
The Leesa Natural Luxe had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 1 day. This is 6.6 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.6 days.

How firm is Leesa Natural Luxe?
The Leesa Natural Luxe mattress is only available in a single firmness option, which Leesa calls “Medium.”

Based on our tests and personal experience, I rate the Leesa Natural Luxe as a medium-firm feel that is a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Leesa Natural Luxe is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with an 8.5″ support layer. This is 0.51″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.99″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 4.00″ |
| Support Layer | 8.50″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
Mattresses that deliver the best support do so by achieving two major objectives. First, they sufficiently support the body, creating a neutral spinal alignment. Second, they create plenty of pressure relief. The Natural Luxe met both of those objectives without any issues.

This mattress is available in a single firmness that we rated as medium-firm, which is a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. A medium-firm feel works well for most sleepers and all sleeping positions.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Moving on, in all mattress tests at NapLab, we make it a point to cut the mattress open and measure the material quality. In doing so, we found the poly foams measured 1.39 to 2.59 PCF (pounds per cubic foot).
While the 1.39 PCF foam is south of what we ideally want to see, I am more pleased with the 2.59 PCF (which is Leesa’s new plant-based poly foam).

A 2.59 PCF is within the “excellent” quality tier that we look for for poly foams. In addition, the coil gauge measured 14.5 gauge along the interior and 15.5 gauge along the edge. Certainly, I’d like to see a thicker wire along the edge, but I’m mostly pleased with the 14.5 gauge coil thickness for the center coils.
Overall, I’m happy with the material quality we measured. Certainly there is room for improvement, and yet, for a natural mattress at this price point, it’s not bad.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find the support on the Leesa Natural Luxe excellent.
Design
The Leesa Natural Luxe is a 12.50″ latex hybrid mattress that comes in a single firmness option—Medium-Firm.
| Design Factor | Data |

Within the Leesa collection, there are currently two latex hybrid options available—the Leesa Natural Luxe and the Leesa Natural Essential Hybrid.
The Leesa Natural Luxe is aimed at a higher price point and targets sleepers who want a thicker profile and a more luxurious feel. The Leesa Natural Essential Hybrid has a thinner 10.0 thickness and a lower price tag.
We haven’t fully tested this mattress, but I expect its performance to be a bit lower than what we measured on the Leesa Natural Luxe simply due to its thinner profile and lower price tag.

The Cover
The Leesa Natural Luxe has a 0.5″ quilted cover that is made of 100% organic cotton. Beneath the organic cotton cover is a layer of GOTS-certified New Zealand wool, which helps provide moisture-wicking properties as well as a more natural flame barrier.

The cotton and wool layers are quilted in an X-stitched pattern, giving it a tufted look.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 4.00″, which does include the organic cotton cover. Directly under the cover are three layers of foam. The first is a 1.5″ layer of latex foam (ivory foam), followed by a 1.0″ layer of Leesa’s GreenFlex poly foam (green foam). The last layer within the comfort system is a 1.0″ layer of transitional poly foam (orange foam).

These three foam layers work together with the organic cotton cover to give the mattress a balanced feel with more natural materials.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.50″ thick and made of an 8.00″ pocketed coil unit followed by a 0.50″ support foam base.
