How is Bryte Balance Signature Different?

The Bryte Balance Signature is a 15.25″ adjustable mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than average, but a price that is also significantly higher than average. The result of this dynamic is a luxury mattress that costs more but also delivers adjustable firmness, an advantage that few mattresses can match.

Advantages

The Bryte Balance Signature has excellent cooling performance, very fast material responsiveness, better edge support, and exceptional edge support.

Neutral Factors

The Bryte Balance Signature has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. Both sinkage and bounce are considered neutral factors since sleepers have different preferences in these areas.

Disadvantages

The biggest disadvantage of the Bryte is likely the high price tag, 58% more expensive than the average adjustable mattress (a difference of over $1,700 for a queen mattress).

Off-gassing is also a bit slower than average, which contributes to the lower off-gassing score.

The Bryte Balance Signature has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.

First up, this is an adjustable air mattress. The air chambers are filled with air and air naturally doesn’t absorb or retain much heat.

In addition, we have a thin, non-quilted cover. The cover has a slight cool-to-the-touch feel, though it does lose some of that cooling feel after a few minutes of lying on the mattress.

• Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
• Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
• Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes

Even so, it’s cooler when you initially get into bed and the cover seems to breathe well, allowing for airflow in and out of the mattress.

Beyond that, the foams seem to do a nice job at mitigating excess heat retention. Is this mattress perfect for cooling? Certainly not; even so, it’s a strong performer overall.

In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.0° F. This is 0.7° warmer than the average of 90.3° F, based on all of our tests to date.

After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 4.5 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.3 degrees less cool than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.

The Bryte Balance Signature has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.36″ (at the 50% firmness setting). This is 0.11″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date. The mattress creates a dramatic body-contouring hug.

While the adjustable air chamber support layers increase the firmness and support dynamic, this mattress is also topped with a thick 5.0” comfort layer. That 5.0” layer is a mix of memory and poly foam. Those foams are what’s delivering the exacting and precise contouring hug around the body.

We tested the sinkage depth at different firmness options and, while we do see some variation, it’s not an especially large range. The difference between the softest and firmest setting is only 0.17”.

So even at the firmest setting, you’re still going to experience that dramatic hug around the body. All that said, this feel is neither good nor bad, but it is a more specific feel, one you’ll need to enjoy to find this mattress comfortable.

The Bryte Balance Signature has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.26 m/s². This is 6% more motion transfer than the average of 8.76 m/s².

Adjustable air mattresses often struggle more with motion transfer and that’s also what we measured here. The air chamber simply isn’t able to dissipate energy transfer especially well, which is why we see motion a little worse than average.

That said, we do have a silver lining here with the 5.0” comfort layer. All of those foams on top do a nice job at absorbing and dispersing energy. They aren’t perfect, but they still keep the motion transfer held to just a little worse than average.

In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines thereafter, but then remains steady from 0.2 to 0.6 seconds.

By 0.90 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is the same as the average motion duration of 0.90 seconds.

While motion transfer could have certainly been better, it’s also not bad at all. Motion duration is about average and motion intensity is just a bit more than average.

The Bryte Balance Signature has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.

In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.

In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.62 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.

This is nearly tied for the fastest responsiveness we’ve tested to date, only missing that mark by 0.1 seconds on the fully recovered response test.

While the mattress is equipped with a 5.0” comfort layer, those foams are all highly responsive (including the memory foam layer) and spring back to their original shapes quickly.

The rapid recovery speed helps ensure the mattress is easier to move around on, preventing any type of “stuck” feeling in the mattress. Overall, I’m pleased with this level of response time, and I expect most sleepers will find it more than satisfactory.

The Bryte Balance Signature has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.65″.

This is 1.00″ less bounce than the average of 8.65″, based on all of our tests to date. The lower bounce is a product of the thick 5.0” comfort layer, but especially the adjustable air chambers.

Air chambers just don’t create the same type of strong, high resiliency we typically see from coil units. What bounce it is creating is somewhat restrained by the thicker-than-average comfort layer, especially the 2.0” memory foam layer.

For these reasons, we see bounce measuring lower than average.

A lower bounce can sometimes make it harder to move around on the mattress. However, that wasn’t the case here, as the mattress is highly responsive. That said, the lower bounce does make sex performance worse (which we discuss in more depth below).

The Bryte Balance Signature has good sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.

In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.00″. This is 0.15″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.85″, based on all of our tests to date.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with a full perimeter of reinforcing foam along the edge of the mattress.

This foam is 4” wide and 9” tall, which is slightly wider and slightly taller than we typically see. The reinforcing foam has a strong impact on edge support for both sitting and lying.

Beyond the reinforced edge support, this mattress edge performance also benefits from a considerably thicker-than-average total mattress height and a thicker-than-average support layer.

All of those extra materials and layers help to create greater resiliency and support at the edge.

The Bryte Balance Signature has good sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal, pressure relief is outstanding, and cooling is excellent. These attributes mean we have a quiet mattress that’s comfortable to be on.

With a middling performance, we have edge support, which we measured at 4.00” of sitting edge sinkage. This is about average, but that’s still supportive enough to make the edges a functional and usable part of the mattress.

Lastly, we need to talk about bounce, which we measured at 7.65”. This is notably less bounce than average.

A lower level of bounce makes sex more strenuous, tiring, and difficult on the mattress. We typically see adjustable mattresses like the Bryte struggle more with bounce due to the adjustable air chambers.

Those chambers just don’t create the same type of ideal resiliency we hope for when it comes to sex performance.

The Bryte Balance Signature has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body. Overall, I found the mattress to be incredibly comfortable.

The mattress is equipped with 5.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.65″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.35″, based on all of our tests to date.

This mattress uses a thin, non-quilted cover. That cover allows the sleeper to more directly engage with the foam layers below and also helps you to more notably feel the adjustments that the air chambers are making below.

The 5.0” comfort layer is a mix of poly foam and memory foam. Those layers create a more dramatic and exacting body contouring hug.

While the adjustable air chambers do increase / decrease the firmness and sinkage, in all firmness levels you’ll still feel a dramatic hug around the precise shape of your body.

In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.56, which is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold that I ideally want to see.

When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.

The Bryte Balance Signature had a strong smell upon the initial arrival. The mattress smelled for 14 days. This is 6.4 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.6 days.

Comparing 120+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 193 nights, 93 nights more than Bryte offers. The average warranty is 13 years, which is 3 years more than this mattress, and that’s if we exclude the 40% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.

The Bryte Balance Signature has an adjustable level of firmness that includes 11 different firmness ratings from 0% up to 100%. Adjustments can be made in 5% intervals.

At its softest level, this mattress has a Medium feel (5 out of 10 firmness) and at its firmest, the mattress has a firm feel (8 out of 10). The list below shows exactly how firm each individual level is.

Support on the Bryte Balance Signature is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 10.25″ support layer.

This is 2.29″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.96″, based on all of our tests to date.

Adjustable air mattresses often have incredible support and that’s exactly what we experienced here as well. The adjustability allows each sleeper to create the firmness and sinkage dynamic that matches the precise needs of their body.

In our firmness tests, we measured firmness ranging from as soft as a 5 (on the 0% setting) to as firm as an 8 (on the 100% setting), and every firmness in between. Certainly, this isn’t the largest firmness range we’ve seen. A firmness of 5 is a medium feel and an 8 is a firm feel.

So if you’re someone who loves a soft, plush feel, then you may find it just isn’t soft enough for you.

Likewise, if you want an extra firm feel, this may not be firm enough. Notably, Bryte’s Balance Pro model is notably softer, going as soft as a 4 firmness (see that review here). Let’s move on to material quality.

In all tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open to measure the foam density and material quality. In doing so, I’m generally pleased with what we measured. Our densimeter tests showed comfort layers poly foams ranging from 2.54 to 2.77 PCF and the memory foam at a 2.55 PCF. This is an excellent range for a poly foam. The 2.55 PCF memory foam is a little south of what I want to see, but it’s nothing alarming.

Denser foams typically last long, perform better, and sag less. There’s nothing about the material quality or foam density levels that has me concerned. I expect these foams will hold up well over time.

Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Bryte Balance Signature to be outstanding.

We have not yet tested the Bryte Balance Pro Conform. The Signature remains the most affordable adjustable mattress in the Bryte collection.

The Bryte Balance Signature has a thin cover with an organic, diamond-stitched pattern on the surface.

There are no handles on the sides of the mattress, which, honestly, at this price point, is definitely something I would have liked to have seen.

The comfort layer is 5.00″ thick and contains three levels of foam. Directly below the cover is a 2.0″ memory foam, followed by a 2.0″ poly foam, and lastly, a 1.0″ poly foam.

The density of each of these foam layers varies slightly, but combined altogether, these three layers create a high performance comfort system above the support layer.

The support layer is 10.25″ thick and made of a 6.5″ adjustable air chamber followed by three support foam layers.

Starting with the air cylinders, these are wrapped in a thin foam layer. These cylinders are then glued to the 1.0″ poly foam mentioned at the base of the comfort layer.

Directly below the air cylinders, there is a 1.5″ channel-cut poly foam, followed by a 1.0″ support foam, and lastly, a 1.25″ support foam base.

The air chamber can vary how much air is in the chamber at the touch of a button. Less air helps to create a softer feel, while more air provides more pushback and a firmer feel.

There is also a perimeter foam that encases all of these inner materials. This foam helps to improve edge support when sitting or lying, and also limits motion transfer.

Product Evolution

Bryte has been around since 2016, but didn’t start shipping smart beds until April 2019. As a company, their focus is on more of the tech side of the mattress market, offering a smart bed, wireless adjustability, and a mobile app with personalized settings, targeted zoned support, and guided meditations.

The Signature model was added to the lineup in April 2025 as part of Bryte’s expanded smart bed lineup, a collection that also included the Bryte Balance Pro.
