- The deeper sinkage may not be preferred for all stomach and back sleepers
Our Verdict
The WinkBed Plus is a 14.50″ plus-sized mattress made of poly foam, pocketed coils, and support foam. It has a plush 1.5″ pillow top and has excellent support with a weight limit of up to 900 lbs. (450 lbs. per side).
The WinkBed Plus is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm. This is a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
This mattress has very deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. For sleepers who want to sleep more “in the mattress” vs “on the mattress”, the Winkbed Plus is a great option.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.45, ranking the mattress in the top 1% of all mattresses tested to date. Winkbed Plus is the highest performing plus-sized mattress we’ve tested to date.
The WinkBed Plus is $1,999 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 3% more expensive than the average plus-sized mattress. While it’s far from inexpensive, it’s also a fantastic value mattress given the materials, design, quality, and performance.

How is WinkBed Plus Different?
The WinkBed Plus is a 14.50″ plus-sized mattress with an overall performance level that is better than average. It also has a price that is very near-average (a difference of only $65/queen).
Advantages
Specific advantages of the Winkbed Plus include better cooling performance, lower levels of motion transfer, fast material response time, and fantastic edge support.
Pressure relief also earns a 10/10 score. The mattress has a 5.5″ comfort layer, which is 28% thicker than the average comfort layer. Lastly, the total mattress thickness is 14.5″, which is 18% thicker than the average mattress.

Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep sinkage and low levels of bounce, both of which are considered neutral factors since different sleepers will have different preferences.
If you like to sleep “on a mattress”, the Winkbed Plus may not be the right mattress for you, but for deeper engagement and exceptional pressure relief, Winkbed is a solid pick.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Winkbed Plus include a lower sex score (largely due to low bounce) and a shorter trial period. The trial period is only 120 nights, compared to the average trial period of 193 nights (based on all of our tests to date).
Cooling Test
The WinkBed Plus has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not experience any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
78.7° F
Max. Temp.
89.6° F
Ending Temp.
80.4° F
This mattress uses a proven hybrid design with a base layer of pocketed coils. Those coils bring ample airflow into the mattress and, being that they are mostly air, don’t retain much heat.
In addition, we have an all poly foam comfort layer. The foam layers all seem to breathe well and avoid excessive heat retention. Lastly, the mattress is equipped with a Tencel cover. Tencel does a great job at wicking moisture, while also remaining highly breathable, creating a cool feeling cover.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Notably, this mattress is also available with an optional cooling cover. We’ve tested that cooling cover on other Winkbed mattresses and found it does make an impact, giving the mattress a cool-to-the-touch feel. That said, even without the cooling cover, I still found the Winkbed Plus to be perfectly cool.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.6° F. This is 0.6° cooler than the average of 90.2° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.1 degrees less cool than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The WinkBed Plus has very deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.60″. This is 0.35″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.60″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug, despite the deeper-than-average sinkage depth. Overall, I found the mattress has an even, non-polarizing feel and was comfortable in all sleeping positions.
While this mattress is designed for heavier-weighted sleepers, even as a lighter-weighted person, it felt perfectly comfortable and supportive.
As such, the Winkbed Plus is a great choice for solo heavier-weighted sleepers, heavier-weighted couples, and couples of varying body weights and body types.
Motion Transfer Test
The WinkBed Plus has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 8.42 m/s². This is 4% less motion transfer than the average of 8.81 m/s².
Accel. Range
8.42 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.79 seconds
Typically, plus-sized mattresses are quite firm and, as such, also have more bounce, which sets the stage for higher motion transfer.
However, that’s not what we measured here. The Winkbed Plus uses a 5.50” thick comfort layer, which is considerably thicker than average.
Those extra foams do a nice job at mitigating energy, thereby reducing bounce and motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines notably thereafter.
By 0.79 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.10 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.89 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

While motion transfer is far from perfect, the combination of lower than average motion intensity and shorter than average motion duration keep motion held to reasonably low levels. As such, I expect most sleepers will find this level of motion satisfactory.
Response Test
The WinkBed Plus has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.4 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.62 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
This is effectively an instant material recovery speed. The rapid responsiveness ensures the mattress is easy to move around on, change positions, and get in and out of bed. The fast response also ensures there is no “stuck” feeling on the mattress.
Bounce Test
The WinkBed Plus has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.16″. This is 2.55″ less bounce than the average of 8.71″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.19″
Max. Rebound
0.97″
Total Bounce
6.16″
The lower bounce is a product of the thick 5.50” comfort layer. Typically, when a mattress is equipped with more comfort foam, said foam absorbs and disperses more energy, which results in a lower bounce. And that’s exactly what’s happening here with Winkbed Plus.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

At 5.50” of comfort foam, it’s considerably thicker than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.30”.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce is a major reason why we also measured less motion transfer. However, low bounce also makes it more strenuous for amorous activities, so there are pros and cons to consider.
Edge Support Test
The WinkBed Plus has outstanding sitting edge support and outstanding lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
2.00″
Lying Support
Outstanding
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.00″. This is 1.87″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.87″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was outstanding in all sleeping positions. The Winkbed Plus edge support benefits from multiple design choices, including a full perimeter of reinforced 13.75 gauge coils.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

In addition, the combination of a thicker-than-average comfort layer, a thicker-than-average total profile height, and high-quality foams works together to deliver fantastic edge support for both sitting and lying.
Sex Test
The WinkBed Plus has fair sex performance. First, let’s talk through the positives. Winkbed Plus earned 10/10 scores in 4 out of our 5 sex testing categories. We saw outstanding cooling and pressure relief, minimal noise, and a robust edge support.

With just 2.00” of sitting edge sinkage, the edge is incredibly supportive, which extends the usable surface area of the mattress. While these 4 categories earned perfect marks, where the mattress is not so great is bounce.
We measured bounce at 6.16”. This is notably less bounce than average and is largely due to the considerably thicker-than-average foam comfort layer.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 6.3 | Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better. The more restrained level of bounce on this mattress makes sex a bit more strenuous and tiring, as the mattress just doesn’t work with you as much as a mattress with greater bounce will. All that to say, sex performance is fine, but also far from great.
Pressure Relief Test
The WinkBed Plus has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure points on my body. Overall, I found the mattress to be incredibly comfortable, even while lying in the same positions for extended durations.
Comfort Layer
5.50″
Support Layer
9.00″
The mattress is equipped with 5.5″ of comfort material, which is 1.2″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.3″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all mattress tests, we make a point to cut the mattress open and examine the material quality.

In doing so, I found the foams look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand. This mattress uses a mix of euro-style pillow top and high-performance poly foams, one of which is Serene foam.
Serene is a specialized, branded poly foam that feels a bit like memory foam, but is still highly responsive, returning to its original shape quickly after being compressed.

We’ve tested a number of mattresses over the years that include Serene foam and in general have always found performance to be excellent or better.
The combination of hybrid design, pillow top, Serene foam, and poly foam creates a balanced, even feel that delivers ample pressure relief.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.44, which is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold I want to see.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.44 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.43 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.41 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The WinkBed Plus had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 1 day. This is 6.3 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.3 days.

Comparing 113+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 193 nights, 73 nights more than WinkBeds offers. Winkbed does offer a lifetime warranty, which helps provide peace of mind over the life of the mattress.

Comparing all mattresses tested to date, only 41% of mattresses come with lifetime warranties. The average of the other 59% of mattresses is only 13 years.
How firm is WinkBed Plus ?
The WinkBed Plus is available in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium-firm feel.

This is a change from the previous design of the Winkbed Plus, which had a slightly firm feel of 7 out of 10. This medium-firm feel makes it more suitable for a wider range of sleepers, as medium-firm is an ideal choice for all sleeping positions.
I will also add, this is a far cry from the 8.5 out of 10 (firm feel) that Winkbed estimates this mattress to have. I have tested two versions of this mattress, one in 2021 and one in 2026, and I have never found this mattress to have a firm feel.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the WinkBed Plus is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 9.0″ support layer. This is 1.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 5.50″ |
| Support Layer | 9.00″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
This mattress has a medium-firm feel, which is a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
A medium-firm feel is ideal for all sleeping positions and works well for the vast majority of sleepers. In addition, the Winkbed Plus is equipped with zoned support.

This simply means the mattress creates more support in the middle of the mattress where most sleepers carry more weight. This helps deliver better support, a more neutral spinal alignment, and provides greater durability over time.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Lastly, for a mattress to deliver optimal support, it must both support the body and deliver sufficient pressure relief. The Winkbed Plus meets both of these requirements with ease.
During our testing, I found the material quality to be excellent, the material quantity to be more than sufficient, and the overall design a proven one.
This combination ensures the mattress feels both comfortable and supportive. Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the WinkBed Plus is outstanding.
Design
The WinkBed Plus is a 14.50″ plus-sized mattress that comes in a single firmness option—Medium-Firm. This mattress is specifically designed for heavier sleepers and can support up to 900 lbs (450 lbs per side).

| Thickness | 14.50″ |
| Cover Type | Pillow Top |
| Weight | 135 lbs. |
| Has Handles | No |

The Cover
The WinkBed Plus has a 1.5″ pillow top cover that is soft and plush, with a density of 1.8 PCF.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 5.50″ thick and made of two layers of poly foam beneath the pillow top. The first poly foam layer (green foam) is 2.0″ thick and is much denser, 4.0″ PCF.

The second layer is 2.0″ thick (pale yellow foam) and it sits directly below the initial comfort foam. This foam is not nearly as dense as the foam above it, only 1.8 PCF, but it does a great job at providing transitional support as heavier sleepers engage more deeply with the foams.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 9.00″ thick and made of an 8.0″ pocketed coil system followed by a 1.0″ support foam. The coils are individually encased in a thin fabric, which helps prevent noise, while also allowing each coil to move independently of each other.

There is a thin perimeter foam that wraps the coils and encases the whole mattress, giving it a more uniform look.
Product Evolution
We have tested the Winkbed Plus twice, once in 2021 and then again in 2026. This review is based on the newest / current design version of the Winkbed Plus.
Overall, the 2026 version offers upgraded performance, but also a price increase of $200/queen mattress. Much of that increase in price is the result of the increase in the cost of materials, which have increased considerably since 2021.
The most notable change between these versions is the move from latex foam to poly foam as the primary comfort layer. I expect that change is also aimed at helping to keep the price to a reasonable level, as the price of latex in particular has increased more so than poly foam in recent years.
Winkbed Plus
2021 Version

Winkbed Plus
2026 Version

In our tests, the 2026 version of the Winkbed Plus scored better than the 2021 version.
In addition, the 2026 version is slightly softer compared to the earlier version of Winkbed Plus we tested. The 2026 version is a medium-firm feel (6 out of 10 firmness), whereas the 2021 version was a slightly firm feel (7 out of 10 firmness).
In addition, the 2026 Winkbed also had better scores for motion transfer and faster material responsiveness. The sex score was slightly lower on the 2026 version due to slightly less bounce than what we measured on the 2021 version.
