Do Helix Mattresses Contain Fiberglass?

Derek Hales

Updated

No. As of 2 years ago, all Helix mattresses are fiberglass-free. Previously, the standard models had a layer of fiberglass below the surface as part of their fire retardant, while the Luxe and Elite models contained none.

Fiberglass is a material sometimes found in the fire barrier. Although effective at preventing fire spread, the long-term health risks of fiberglass exposure have led many companies to skip the substance in mattress construction.

Instead of fiberglass, Helix mattresses use a fire-retardant textile that contains silica, a derivative of bamboo fiber.
