Considerations
- Limited mattress sizes
(queen + king only) - Extremely slow material response time
- Slow off-gassing may be problematic for sleepers who are sensitive to strong smells
Our Verdict
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is a Costco-exclusive, 11″ memory foam hybrid mattress made of memory foam and a pocketed coil base. This mattress is also available in an all-foam version, which we tested here.
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm. According to Tempurpedic, this mattress has a medium feel, but in our tests, the mattress was slightly firmer than expected—6 out of 10 (medium-firm).
This mattress has very deep sinkage and very low levels of bounce. This type of feel is pretty classic of traditional memory foam. It has deeper engagement and slower response, all tell-tale signs of memory foam.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 7.92, ranking the mattress in the bottom 16% of all mattresses tested to date. If we look exclusively at memory foam hybrids, this rank drops even lower to the bottom 8%.
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is $1,999 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 21% more expensive than the average memory foam hybrid. Given its lower performance, what you’re really paying for here is the name. If you’re looking for a quality memory foam hybrid and are open to non-Tempurpedic models, there are better options out there.

How is Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid Different?
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is an 11″ memory foam hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is significantly below average and a price tag that is notably above average.
If you’re looking for a good value, this is not the balance we like to see from any mattress. Additionally, the Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is only available at Costco, so you’ll need a Costco membership to secure this mattress.

Advantages
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has better cooling than average, lower levels of motion transfer, and better pressure relief than average.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep sinkage and very low bounce. Both of these factors are neutral, as different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages to the Tempurpedic Supreme include a very slow material response time, slightly weaker edge support than average, and a lower sex score as well.
In addition, the mattress took nearly 3 weeks to fully off-gas (20 days), which is significantly slower than the average duration of only 7 days.
Lastly, the Supreme Hybrid is only available via Costco, so sleepers without a Costco membership will not be able to purchase this deal.
Cooling Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
78.5° F
Max. Temp.
89.6° F
Ending Temp.
82.8° F
This mattress utilizes a hybrid design, with layers of memory foam on top of a pocketed coil unit. The coil unit brings ample airflow into the mattress.
In addition, according to the product page, this mattress has a “cool-to-the-touch” feel and features “high density cooling yarn”.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our tests, I did find the cover created a notable cooling feeling. To be fair, it’s far from the best cooling covers I’ve tested, and yet, its performance is still noteworthy.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.6° F. This is 0.4° cooler than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.1 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has very deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.69″. This is 0.45″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.24″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.69″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
Body Contour
Dramatic
The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug and has the classic memory foam feel.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The Supreme Hybrid precisely conforms and contours to the exact shape of your body. In addition, the material recovery speed is slower, which will cause some sleepers to feel more “stuck” in the mattress.
This feel is neither good nor bad, but it is a more specific feel. To be comfortable on this mattress, you’ll need to prefer a dramatic body contouring hug and a more classic memory foam feel.
Motion Transfer Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.13 m/s².
Accel. Range
7.13 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.52 seconds
This is 19% less motion transfer than the average of 8.78 m/s². Memory foam mattresses typically create lower motion transfer than average and that’s exactly what we measured here.
This mattress is equipped with a 2.5” memory foam layer. In addition, this specific memory foam formulation has a more classic feel, which means slower material recovery speed and very low bounce. This combination of material and feel factors helps keep motion to a minimum.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds.
Motion declines dramatically thereafter. By 0.52 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.36 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Both motion duration and motion intensity are better than average. As a result, motion transfer is very low, and I don’t expect motion to be an issue for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has a very slow material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.7 seconds, which is 1.29 seconds slower than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 3.3 seconds, which is 2.29 seconds slower than the average of 1.01 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
1.7 sec.
Fully Recovered
3.3 sec.
This Tempurpedic is using a very classic type of memory foam. It’s got lots of hug and contour, but it’s also incredibly slow to recover back to its original shape after it’s been compressed.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
That slow responsiveness makes it harder to move around on, worse for sex, harder to get out of bed, and creates more of a “stuck” feeling.
This mattress is the 11th slowest responding mattress we’ve tested to date. 384 mattresses we’ve tested have a faster material recovery speed.
Bounce Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 5.78″. This is 2.97″ less bounce than the average of 8.75″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.97″
Max. Rebound
0.81″
Total Bounce
5.78″
The 2.5” layer of classic memory foam on this mattress creates very little bounce. This type of memory foam, with its slow material recovery speed and dense feel, simply doesn’t return much bounce.
Instead, it absorbs and disperses energy. This is great for keeping motion transfer lower, but it also means ease of movement and sex are negatively impacted.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Despite the hybrid design, this mattress has around the same level of bounce as the all-foam version of the Tempurpedic Supreme (see review here).
Edge Support Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has outstanding sitting edge support and fair lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
2.75″
Lying Support
Fair
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.75″. This is 1.18″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was fair in all sleeping positions. Notably, this mattress is equipped with reinforced support foam running along the perimeter of the mattress.
While that support foam seems to make a positive impact for sitting edge sinking, it wasn’t as impactful for lying edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The weaker lying edge support has the same basic problem that many other memory foam mattresses have. The memory foam creates a dramatic body contouring hug, which is great when you’re in the middle of the mattress.
However, along the edge, the contouring memory foam creates a weakening of support, as there just isn’t enough foam to fully contour and support the body.
This isn’t a problem with Tempurpedic specifically, but rather many memory foam mattresses.
Sex Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has fair sex performance. First up, let’s talk through the positives. Noise is minimal and both pressure relief and cooling are excellent. In addition, sitting edge support was outstanding.

The more robust sitting edge support extends the usable surface area of the mattress, which is beneficial for amorous activities. All that said, where this mattress struggles is bounce.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 6.1 | Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
In our tests, we measured just 5.78” of total bounce height. This is well below average. The lower bounce simply makes it more tiring, strenuous, and difficult to have sex on the mattress.
The classic memory foam simply absorbs so much energy that the mattress really feels like it’s working against you during amorous activities.
Pressure Relief Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
2.50″
Support Layer
8.50″
The mattress is equipped with 2.50″ of comfort material. The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has 1.80″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.30″, based on all of our tests to date.

Certainly, the biggest weakness for pressure relief on this mattress is simply the limited comfort layer thickness. In general, thicker comfort layers perform better, and it’s clear that while this mattress earned an excellent score, it is also far from perfect.
In all of our mattress tests, we make a point to cut the mattress open to examine the layers and material quality. Overall, I’m pleased with what I see. While I do wish we had a thicker comfort layer, the foams do look and feel great, both on the body and in-hand.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.64. This is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold that we want to see.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.10 | 0.64 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.43 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.23 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be excellent.
Off-Gassing Test
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid had a strong smell upon initial arrival. The mattress smelled for 20 days. This is 12.8 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.2 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
20 days
While the smell was considerably longer than average, it is notably shorter than the all-foam version of the Tempurpedic Supreme, which smelled for 40 days during our tests.

Company
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid mattress is exclusively sold at Costco. Shipping and returns are both free and the mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 0 | 0 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 10 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 106+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 172 nights and the average warranty is 13 years, which is 3 years longer than the Tempurpedic. And that’s not even including the 41% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.

Costco mattresses are backed by a “100% Satisfaction Guarantee,” meaning you can return the mattress after any amount of time and for any reason. The only caveat is that the mattresses must be clean and free of any bed bugs. Dirty mattresses will not be accepted for return.
All that said, this is not the same as a trial period. Tempurpedic does not provide a trial period separate from Costco, and in our chats with Costco customer service, they made it clear that Costco does not provide any trial period for their mattresses.
How firm is Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid?
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is available in a single firmness, which Tempurpedic calls “medium”. We rate this medium feel at a 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm, giving it a medium-firm feel.

The Supreme mattress is also available in an all-foam design, which is available in medium and firm versions. If you’re looking for something softer or firmer than the Supreme Hybrid, this may be a more appropriate option for you.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 2.50″ |
| Support Layer | 8.50″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Dramatic |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
The mattress is equipped with an 8.5″ support layer. This is 0.59″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
This mattress is available in a single firmness, which is a medium-firm feel. This firmness is appropriate to the needs of most body types and sleeping positions.
Notably, there is no zoned support on this mattress. Instead, we have a consistent firmness and support dynamic from the head to the foot on the mattress.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Whether or not you feel well supported will really come down to whether or not you like the feel of classic memory foam. This mattress uses a classic type of memory foam with a dramatic body contouring hug that forms and contours to the precise shape of your body.
This feel is neither good nor bad, but it is a more specific and polarizing feel. Some sleepers love it, others hate it. To feel well supported by this mattress, you’ll need to prefer the dramatic body contouring hug of memory foam alongside the medium-firm feel.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid excellent.
Design
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is an 11.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress that comes in a single firmness option—Medium-Firm. It has a thin cover on top.
| Design Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Type | Memory Foam Hybrid |
| Thickness | 11.00″ |
| Cover Type | Thin |
| Weight | 100 lbs. |
| Has Handles | No |
| Fiberglass-Free | No |
| Ships in a Box | No |
Additionally, the Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid is not fiberglass-free. This mattress contains a fire barrier that uses core-spun glass fiber, in other words, fiberglass.
The fiberglass is not in the memory foam or the cover, but rather encapsulated within the yarn of the fire barrier. Still, fiberglass is not something that I like to see on any mattress, given the science behind the effects of fiberglass exposure in mattresses.

The Cover
The Tempurpedic Supreme Hybrid has a thin cover that Tempurpedic describes as a “cool to the touch cover”. It is a knit cover with white and light blue accents embossed into the surface.

There are no handles on the sides of this mattress, and overall, the Supreme Hybrid has a simple design.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is only 2.50″ thick and made of two layers of memory foam. On top, there is a 1.0″ memory foam layer, which is glued to a 1.5″ memory foam layer directly below.

Joining these layers together allows the memory foam to work together and act as one unified comfort layer.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.50″ thick and made of a 6.0″ pocketed coil unit followed by a 2.5″ support foam base.

There is also a perimeter foam that encases the coils and helps provide better edge support on the mattress.
Product Evolution
Tempurpedic Supreme versions have been sold at Costco as early as 2021. However, those were variants of Tempurpedic’s Contour and Cloud series.
In 2024, Costco dropped all Contour and Cloud versions and instead now only offers what they call the “Tempurpedic Supreme”. This new series-less Supreme mattress is available in medium, medium hybrid (this review), and firm options.
The mattress detailed in this review is the “medium hybrid”.
You can read more about the all-foam Tempurpedic Supreme in the full review here. The all foam version is available in medium and firm versions.
While the Tempurpedic Supreme shares many similarities with the earlier Tempurpedic Contour Supreme and Cloud Supreme, it is its own unique model.
