Best For
- Outstanding cooling performance, especially for memory foam
- Exceptional pressure relief with 7.0″ comfort layer
- Extremely low levels of bounce, 3.85″
Considerations
- Slower material response time
- Extremely deep sinkage may be too much contour, especially for back or stomach sleepers
- Slightly worse edge support when seated at the edge, 4.50″ on Nectar compared to 4.05″ average
Our Verdict
The Nectar Ultra is a 15″ memory foam mattress. Its high-profile thickness is made of a combination of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam.
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage (3.06″) and extremely low levels of bounce. It is the definition of classic memory foam with that high degree of contour, hug, and definition. It is slower to react to changing positions and the low bounce really isolates movement.
The Nectar Ultra comes in a single firmness of 5 out of 10 which gives the mattress a medium feel.
In our performance tests, the Nectar Ultra has an overall score of 8.71, ranking the mattress in the top 44% of all mattresses tested to date and the top 28% if we’re looking exclusively at memory foam mattresses.
Concerning price, the Nectar Ultra is $1,799 for a queen mattress, 57% more than the average memory foam mattress. If you’re on a tight budget, this may not be the mattress for you, but if you want high performance and a thick 15″ profile, the Nectar Ultra is a solid pick.

How is Nectar Ultra Different?
The Nectar Ultra has an overall performance level that is better than average and a price tag that also costs more than average—57% more than the average memory foam mattress ($1,145) for a difference of $654.
Advantages
Specific performance advantages for the Ultra include better cooling performance, slightly less motion transfer than the average mattress, and exceptional pressure relief. This mattress is 15″ thick and has a 7.0″ comfort layer, which is 2.9″ thicker than the average.
For reference, the average mattress we have tested is only 12″ thick and has a 4.1″ comfort layer.
A thicker profile can be a facilitating factor to better pressure relief and ultimately may be a better option for heavier sleepers or side sleepers who are concerned with support or pressure relief.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage, 0.9″ more than the average mattress. The deeper sinkage is paired with an extremely low level of bounce, 60% less than the average mattress.
We expect to see lower levels of bounce with memory foam. In our tests, 67% of memory foam mattresses tested have what we classify to be “Low” or “Very Low” levels of bounce.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Ultra include a slower material response time, worse edge support, and a disappointing sex score.
The sex score is determined by a larger number of factors, but two of the most important being high bounce and strong edge support, of which the Nectar Ultra has neither.

Cooling Test
The Nectar Ultra has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any notable level of heat around my body.
Baseline Temp.
75.5° F
Max Temp.
85.8° F
Ending Temp.
77.3° F
To the contrary, the mattress maintained a cool-to-the-touch feel for the duration of our cooling test. The Nectar Ultra uses a layer of phase change material that sits just below the cover.
This material seems to be having a significant impact on cooling. In addition, the thin knit cover and quality foams all seem to breathe well and avoid excessive heat retention.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 85.8° F. This is 3.9° less than the average of 89.7° F, based on all of our tests to date.
I expected good performance from this mattress, but even still it exceeded my expectations. To have a max temp that is 3.9° cooler than the average is incredibly rare.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

Nectar’s Ultra is one of the best cooling performances from an all foam mattress we’ve tested to date. When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Ultra has extremely deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 3.06″. This is 0.90″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.16″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
3.06″
Sinkage Feel
Extremely Deep
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug and has a more traditional memory foam feel. The Nectar Ultra contours to the precise shape of the sleeper’s body.
Both heavy and lighter weighted parts of my body alike notably sank down into the mattress. For sleepers who like this type of feel the mattress will create amazing pressure relief.
However, it’s fair to say that this is a more polarizing feel. The sinkage depth is significantly deeper than average. When you couple that with a more dramatic contour of memory foam it creates a feel that is more extreme.
In order to feel comfortable on the mattress you’ll need to love the feel of memory foam, love a deeper sinkage, and love a dramatic body contouring hug.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Ultra has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.06 m/s². This is 20% less motion transfer than the average of 8.79 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
3.39 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-3.67 m/s²
Accel. Range
7.06 m/s²
The lower level of motion transfer is exactly what we expect from this type of mattress. The Nectar Ultra’s all-foam design, 4.0” of memory foam on top, thin cover, 15” total profile, and deeper sinkage are all working together to reduce motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion from 0 to 0.21 seconds. Motion plummets thereafter and by 0.50 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy.
Mattresses with the lowest motion duration are around 0.3 seconds. While the Nectar Ultra isn’t quite at that level, it’s not far off and it is notably better than the average motion transfer duration.

When we consider both the below-average motion intensity and below-average motion duration it’s exactly what we hope to see. I expect most sleepers will find motion transfer to be a non-issue.
Response Test
The Nectar Ultra has a very slow material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.9 seconds, which is 0.48 seconds slower than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.9 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.8 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.8 seconds, which is 0.87 seconds slower than the average of 0.93 seconds. The Nectar Ultra uses a more traditional memory foam within the top layer. In addition, said layer is extremely thick at 4.0”.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
This memory foam layer creates the body contouring hug, pressure relief, and comfort that sleepers love. However, it’s also the reason for the below-average level of material responsiveness.
The slower response will make it more difficult to move around, change positions, and also negatively impact sex performance.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Ultra has an extremely low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 3.85″. This is 5.63″ less bounce than the average of 9.48″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.28″
Max. Rebound

Max Bounce Height

When it comes to bounce, materials are everything. The Nectar Ultra’s material design is all foam, with a thicker-than-average 7.0” comfort layer (average is 4.0” thick) and a thick 4.0” memory foam layer.
In addition, the slow maternal responsiveness and deep sinkage further reduce bounce. This level of bounce is notably below the overall average but more typical of other memory foam mattresses.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Ideally, I want to see 8-12” of bounce height. Needless to say, Nectar Ultra is far from that mark. The below-average level of bounce makes it more difficult to move around on the mattress and negatively impacts sex performance.
Edge Support Test
The Nectar Ultra has good sitting edge support and good lying edge support. In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.50″. This is 0.45″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.05″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max Sinkage
4.50″
Lying Support
Good
While sitting directly on the edge I felt well-supported and there was no collapse of materials. While the compression depth is deeper than the average, I’m not troubled by it, since the total mattress height is 15.0” thick, which is 3.0” thicker than average.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

All of that extra material helps to further reinforce the total support dynamic. Edge support while lying on the edge was similar.
While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions. That said, it didn’t quite rise to the “excellent” or “outstanding” level.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Lying edge support is impacted by the deeper sinkage and 4.0” memory foam comfort layer. Said memory foam layer creates a more dramatic body contouring hug.
That extra hug feels wonderful while in the middle of the mattress, but while lying on the edge there isn’t enough material to fully contour and support the part of your body nearest the edge.
This results in the total edge support experience feeling somewhat weaker. Even so, the 15.0” total mattress profile gives us enough foams to mean support isn’t bad by any stretch.
Sex Test
The Nectar Ultra has mediocre sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal and both pressure relief and cooling are outstanding. Edge support is good enough, albeit certainly not incredible either.
At 4.50” of sitting edge compression, it’s a deeper sitting sinkage than average, but still supportive enough to be functionally usable. Where the Nectar Ultra struggles is bounce.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 5.0 | Very Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 8.1 | Good |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
In our tests, we measured a bounce height of 5.63”, which is 3.85” less bounce than the average of 9.48”, based on all of our tests.
That lower-than-average level of bounce means that sex is simply more strenuous on the mattress, as the mattress doesn’t enhance sex movements the same way that many coil, hybrid, and latex mattresses do.
This isn’t an issue with Nectar Ultra specifically, but rather a weak spot for a majority of memory foam mattresses.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Ultra has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure points anywhere on my body. On the contrary, the mattress is incredibly and exceptionally comfortable.
Comfort Layer
7.0″
Support Layer
8.0″
The mattress is equipped with 7.0″ of comfort material, including a 4.0” memory foam layer and 3.0” poly foam layer. This 7.0” of comfort material is significantly thicker than the average.
The Nectar Ultra has 2.88″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.12″, based on all of our tests to date.

Both the memory foam and poly foam comfort layers look and feel high quality. They both work together well to create a deep level of sinkage, dramatic body contour hug, and an incredible comfort dynamic.
In our pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 1.12. A PSI of 2.0 is considered a high-pressure point. Needless to say, Nectar’s Ultra didn’t come anywhere near those levels.
In our pressure mapping images, you can see there are no notable high or even moderate pressure points anywhere on the body. When I consider the objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.

Company
Nectar mattresses come with a 365-night trial period, a lifetime warranty, free shipping, and free returns.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |

Across all mattress brands tested, the average trial period is 177 nights, so Nectar is over twice as long as the average. And the lifetime warranty is also longer too.
Among all mattresses tested, only 1 in 4 mattresses offer a lifetime warranty. The average of the other 75% of mattresses is 13 years.
How firm is Nectar Ultra?
The Nectar Ultra is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, giving the mattress a medium feel.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Nectar Ultra is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer. This is 0.11″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.89″, based on all of our tests to date.
Equally importantly, the mattress also has a 7.0″ comfort layer. All of that extra comfort material creates ample comfort and pressure relief, while also serving as a robust transitional layer into the more supportive base foams.

In total, the mattress is 15.0” thick, which is 3.0 thicker than the average total height of 12.0”. All of that extra material is greatly beneficial in creating support. Both the support and comfort foams all look and feel high quality, in my view.
My only support concern about the Nectar Ultra is the polarizing nature of the memory foam. This mattress has an extremely deep sinkage and a dramatic body contouring hug.

Some sleepers may simply find the body hug and sinkage depth are too extreme. To be comfortable on the mattress you’ll need to really love the feel of memory foam and everything that comes with it.

The Cover
The Nectar Ultra has a thin cover cooling cover with a phase-change material that gives it a “cool to the touch” feeling. It has a small amount of stretch to it and sits taut against the surface of the mattress.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer of the Ultra is mostly the huge 4.0″ memory foam layer right beneath the cover. This comfort foam is very thick and performs much like a traditional memory foam.
But being a traditional memory foam, this top layer also allows for deeper sinkage and has a slower response time.

Beneath the memory foam (tan) is a 3.0″ poly foam (white), which acts as a transitional layer between the memory foam and the support layer below (green).
This layer helps prevent sleepers from sinking too far into the mattress or engaging with the support layer too abruptly.
The Support Layer
The support layer is an 8.0″ support foam. At 8.0″ thick, it’s slightly thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.9″.

The thicker support and thicker comfort layer help deliver exceptional pressure relief performance on this mattress.
Product Evolution
The Nectar Ultra was released to their lineup in 2024 as a top-tier, high-profile memory foam mattress. It was also released in a hybrid version. This mattress is designed to fill a gap for sleepers looking for a higher performance memory foam, but one that still doesn’t break the bank.

Other Mattresses to Consider
Not sure if the Nectar Ultra is the right pick for you? Check out these three other top-rated memory foam mattresses for alternatives you may want to consider.
For Performance

GhostBed Luxe
9.19 Overall Score
The GhostBed Luxe is our top-performing memory foam mattress, comparing all mattresses tested to date. It has a medium-firm feel (6), with extremely deep sinkage, moderate bounce, and a 13″ profile. This mattress is just under $1600 for a queen making it slightly less than the Ultra.
For Less Sinkage

Amerisleep AS3
8.99 Overall Score
The Amerisleep AS3 has only a 12″ profile but lacks nothing in performance. The sinkage on the AS3 is only moderate and it retains low levels of bounce. There is a 6.0″ comfort layer, which still allows for outstanding pressure relief. The AS3 is $1299 for a queen, a savings of $500 off the Nectar Ultra.
For Budget

Novosbed
8.87 Overall Score
The Novosbed is an 11″ memory foam mattress that is available in three firmness levels—soft, medium-firm, or firm. Unlike the Nectar, Novosbed has only minimal sinkage. If you’re worried about “sinking in” or “feeling stuck”, the Novosbed is a good option to consider. It is also priced under $1000, making it an attractive option for sleepers on a budget.
