How is Nectar Different?
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is slightly above average performance, but also a price that is slightly higher than average—16% more than the average memory foam mattress.
Advantages
Motion transfer levels were significantly better than average—measuring 79% less motion than average. Cooling performance and material response time were slightly better than average as well.
Neutral Factors
Considering preferential factors, the Nectar Premier Copper had sinkage that was very near average and bounce levels that were 46% below average.
Disadvantages
Where the mattress struggled was with edge support and sex. The materials failed to provide a supportive edge and this, paired with low bounce, doesn’t do any favors for sex performance.

Cooling Test
Overall, I was impressed with the cooling performance. Looking at our objective data the Nectar Premier Copper mattress performed excellent.
Its max temperature of 90.6°F was only slightly above the average of 89.6° after our 263+ mattress tests.
Generally, memory foam mattresses struggle more with cooling and heat retention issues, so it was great to see a decent performance from the objective data. Looking at the heat dissipation over time it was good, but not great.
Baseline Temp.
84.4° F
Max. Temp.
90.6° F
Ending Temp.
87.2° F
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Heat Dissipation Over Time

By the 3-minute-mark it had only dropped 2° , and after 4 minutes it was still hovering at 87.2°F.
It appears to certainly be holding onto heat more than other mattresses we’ve tested, however, it does still get that temperature to a more reasonable level.
Speaking subjectively, I found the mattress to be comfortably cool during our tests. I did not feel any heating issues. All things considered, Nectar’s Premier Copper really lives up to the high expectations with respect to cooling.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Premier Copper has a moderate level of sinkage. We experienced 2.22” of sinkage in our pressure point sinkage test. This is just slightly higher than the average sinkage of 2.20” across all mattresses we’ve tested to date.

The Premier Copper has a comfortable level of sinkage that relieves pressure and creates excellent contour around the body.
Motion Transfer Test
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
Motion transfer for the Nectar Premier Copper is extraordinarily low. In fact, it’s the 2nd lowest motion transfer of any mattress we’ve tested to date (just narrowly edged out by the Tempur memory foam mattress from the UK).
Max. Acceleration
0.8 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-1.08 m/s²
Accel. Range
1.88 m/s²
The Premier Copper had an acceleration range of 1.88 m/s^2. The softer memory foam layers on top do an excellent job at absorbing and rapidly dissipating energy.

This keeps motion transfer extraordinarily low so there is little danger of partners disturbing each other during the night.
Response Test
Response times for the Nectar Premier Copper are very fast. We were pleasantly surprised by the speed of the response time. The mattress only takes 0.3 seconds to mostly recover and a full recovery of the materials is complete by 0.5 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.5 sec.
This is a massively improved performance compared to Nectar’s classic memory foam mattress, which we tested at a full 5 seconds for a complete recovery. Compared to the average mattress, the mostly recovered time is 0.11 seconds faster and the fully recovered time is 0.4 seconds faster.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Having the faster response time on the Nectar Premier Copper mattress ensures that sleepers never feel “stuck” or trapped by the foams during the night.
This makes it easier to move around, get in or out of bed, and change positions during the night.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Premier Copper had very low levels of bounce. The bounce height was 5.14” in totality. Among all the mattresses we’ve tested to date the average bounce height is 9.54”.
Max. Depth
4.66″
Max. Rebound
0.48″
Total Bounce
5.14″
The level of bounce is documented in the video below.
While the bounce height is low, it is not unexpected. Memory foam mattresses like the Premier Copper dissipate energy quickly, resulting in very little rebound or bounce back after energy is applied.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

Bounce is a preferential factor. Some sleepers want lots of it, others want none. However, more bounce is almost always better for sex, which we’ll touch on it a bit.
Edge Support Test
Edge support for the Nectar Premier Copper is fair, and a bit of a mixed bag. While sitting on the edge of the mattress we measured a compression depth of 6.25”.
This is among the deepest compression we’ve seen to date (we’ve only seen deeper sinkage in a handful of other mattresses). Overall, sitting edge support isn’t great.
Max. Sinkage

Lying Support
Excellent
So for watching TV, getting ready in the morning, and doing the dance with no pants, sitting on the edge leaves something to be desired.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Despite this fact, we found the edge support while lying on the mattress to be excellent. The mattress very well supported my entire body weight while lying directly on the edge.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 5.7 | Very Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 5.9 | Poor |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Per the factors above, the Nectar Premier Copper has mediocre sex performance.
Being a memory foam mattress, this is pretty expected. Areas where it really excelled includes: lack of noise during sex, excellent pressure relief, and excellent cooling.

It doesn’t have much bounce since much of the energy is absorbed into the foam.
In addition to poorer bounce, the Nectar also has poorer edge support. This is the worst-scoring category for this mattress, so if you’re banking on strong edges to add excitement and support during sex, you may want to consider a different mattress.
Pressure Relief Test
Pressure relief across the entire body was excellent for the Nectar Premier Copper. The copper memory foam really is a delight to lie upon.
In every position, it did a nice job at creating an enjoyable level of contour and fantastic pressure relief. It allows a sufficient level of sinkage, without being too much. Overall, we found the pressure relief to be fantastic.
Comfort Layer
4.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
The comfort layer is primarily a 4.0″ layer of gel memory foam on the top, which makes up 28% of the thickness of the mattress.

As you lie on the mattress, high-pressure areas like back, hips, and shoulders tend to sink deeper into the foam, engaging with the transitional foam and even support foams below the top foam.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Premier Copper is pretty typical, especially for a memory foam mattress.
The smell was pretty strong after the initial unboxing, but odors dissipated after about two days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
2 days
For many high-quality foams I would say that 2-4 days is a standard amount of time for the materials to off-gas.
Off-gassing is a natural process that occurs when compressed gasses are released from vacuum-rolled mattresses.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | China |
Nectar’s policies for the Premier Copper are excellent.
Overall, company terms at Nectar Sleep are pretty favorable. They offer an extended 365-night trial period, which is 105% longer than the average trial period of 178 nights.
The long trial is coupled with a lifetime limited warranty, free shipping, and free returns. These are all really great policies and help you to buy with more confidence.
How firm is Nectar?
The firmness of the Nectar Premier Copper mattress is around a 5 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm.

This is softer than the 6.5 out of 10 rating that Nectar gives their mattress. In my view, it really is a good bit softer than that.
It’s possible that my relatively lighter weight at 140 pounds experiences a slightly softer feel, while heavier sleepers may experience a firmness closer to the 6-6.5 range.
In any case, the top layers of the mattress really do create a higher degree of softness, giving it a true medium 5 out of 10 firmness.
How does it feel?
Overall, this mattress has a modern memory foam feel. While there is a high degree of contour, low bounce, and low motion the response is fast, cooling is good, and pressure relief is fantastic.
There is no “stuck” feel and the mattress feels well balanced and high quality.
While I have always liked the Nectar mattress, the Nectar Premier Copper mattress is a clear and significant improvement. It really is a fantastic mattress with an excellent comfort and support dynamic.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Size, weight, and sleeping position determine exact preferences, but overall, most people should find the Nectar Premier Copper to be comfortable and supportive.

---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
As mentioned above, most users should find this mattress to be comfortable and supportive.
Design
The Nectar Premier Copper is a high-profile mattress (14″ thick) with a memory foam feel, without many of the common disadvantages of traditional memory foam.
For example, the Premier Copper doesn’t retain as much heat and also has a faster response time than traditional memory foam.

Materials
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress uses three layers of foam, designed with different densities and purposes. They work together to provide support, pressure relief, cooling, and overall comfort.
Layers of this Nectar break down as follows (from top to bottom):
- 4.0″ gel memory foam
- 1.0″ poly foam
- 9.0″ support foam

The Cover
The cover of the Nectar Premier Copper is soft and breathable. It is designed with heat-conductive copper fibers woven into the cover, which enhances cooling.

Not only is this cover designed to reduce the internal heat of the mattress, but it also provides cooling for the mattress surface and a cool-to-the-touch feel.
The cover of the Premier Copper has a zipper, but the cover is not machine washable, Furthermore, Nectar doesn’t advise ever even taking the cover off as doing so will void all manufacturer warranties.

The Comfort Layer
There are two foam layers that combine to make the comfort layer. The first layer is a 4.0″ thick gel memory foam.

This layer provides comfort, compression, and pressure relief, allowing your body to sink into the foam where pressure is applied.
Below the gel memory foam is a 1.0″ thick layer of poly foam which acts as a transitional layer between the memory foam and the denser support foam below.
The Support Layer
The support foam is the bottom layer of foam on the Nectar Premier Copper. It is 9.0″ thick and provides support for the foam layers above.
Product Evolution
Nectar Sleep launched its first mattress in 2017, with a classic memory foam. The first Nectar was a 10″ mattress with a 3.0″ gel memory foam comfort layer and a 7.0″ support foam layer.

By comparison, the Nectar Premier Copper is a new mattress, first introduced in 2021. It is the first Nectar to boast a 14″ profile thickness and infused copper cover.
Since its launch in 2021, there have not been any significant changes to the design or material construction of the Nectar Premier Copper mattress.
