Our Verdict
The Leesa Plus Hybrid mattress is 13″ thick and designed for heavier weighted sleepers, supporting up to 500 lbs. per side and 1,000 lbs. for the total mattress.
It is supportive, with a moderate amount of sinkage and fast material response time. The mattress also has moderately high bounce, which all comes together to provide a surface that is incredibly easy to move around on and is great for sex.
In our performance tests, the Leesa Plus Hybrid earned an overall score of 8.75. This ranks it among the top 38% of all mattresses tested to date. But when we look at just plus-sized models, it is actually within the bottom 25% in terms of performance.
However, the Leesa Plus Hybrid price is well below average. At $1,319, you can save 22% or $362.99 by choosing it over the average plus-sized mattress. So all things considered, the Plus Hybrid is a great option to consider, especially when you’re budget is around $1,300.

How is Leesa Plus Hybrid Different?
The Leesa Plus mattress has a better overall performance than average as well as a price that is below average—a savings of 22% compared to the average plus-sized mattress (or $362.99 on the queen-sized mattress).
Advantages
Besides overall performance and price, other advantages to the Leesa Plus Hybrid include better cooling, faster material response time, great edge support, and a thicker overall profile (1.0″ thicker than the average mattress).
Neutral Factors
Sinkage levels are about average (0.03″ less than average) and bounce is slightly more than average (0.08″ higher bounce). These levels are so close to the actual averages they feel pretty negligible.
Disadvantages
The Leesa Plus has 43% higher levels of motion transfer and a slightly longer off-gassing period (by 1 day). The 100 night trial is shorter than average (178 night average).
Cooling Test
The Leesa Plus has excellent cooling performance. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
77.4° F
Max Temp.
91.6° F
Ending Temp.
82.4° F
On the positive side of things, we have a hybrid design with high-quality, non-heat reactive foams. The support coil base does much of the heavy lifting, creating airflow to the foams.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
That said, we don’t have any impressive cooling materials, cooling layers, or a cooling cover (as we see with Leesa’s Chill line of mattresses).
The absence of these materials and design choices limits cooling performance. In our objective testing, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.6°F.
After getting off the mattress the temperature declined by 5.2°, which is 0.66°cooler than average.
From minutes 0 to 5 the temperature reduction was 9.2°F, which is 2.23° cooler than average.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the complete picture of objective data, subjective experience, and material analysis, I’m confident most sleepers will find cooling performance to be acceptable.
Sinkage Test
The Leesa Plus has a moderate level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured a sinkage depth of 2.15”. This is 0.2” less sinkage than the average of 2.17”, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.15″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced and even feel. We have 4.0” of total comfort material including a 1.0” quilted cover and poly foams that are highly responsive and without a significant memory foam feel.
These foam layers work together to create a more restrained level of body contouring hug. This helps avoid any type of a stuck feel and prevents sleepers from feeling overly enveloped in the foam comfort layers.
Motion Transfer Test
The Leesa Plus has a high level of motion transfer. In our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 12.23 m/s². This is 44.4% more motion transfer than the average of 8.47 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
5.89 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-6.34 m/s²
Accel. Range
12.23 m/s²
The higher motion transfer is not particularly surprising. Plus-sized mattresses require firmer support layers to create appropriate support for heavier-weight sleepers.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
These firmer foams and coils create a foundational layer that rebounds more energy back, which creates higher levels of motion transfer.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we see the highest motion spikes from 0 to 0.14 seconds.

Motion declines to a moderate level from 0.14 to 0.62 seconds, but it’s not until 0.99 seconds that we return to near-zero levels of energy. Neither the motion spikes nor motion duration are ideal.
Response Test
The Leesa Plus has a very fast material response time. In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.2 seconds and a fully recovered response time of 0.8 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.8 sec.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The mostly recovered response time is 0.2 seconds faster than the average of 0.40 seconds. The fully recovered time is closer to the average, being 0.04 seconds faster than the average of 0.84 seconds.
In any case, the highly responsive poly foams rebound back to shape extremely quickly. The high responsiveness ensures the mattress is easy to move around on.
Bounce Test
The Leesa Plus has a high level of bounce. In our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 9.73”. This is 0.06” more bounce than the average of 9.67”.
Max. Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Ideally, I like to see 8-12” of total bounce. At this height, we gain most of the benefits of high bounce, including ease of movement and improved sex performance, while also minimizing motion transfer.
At 9.73” the Leesa Plus is in the sweet spot that I like to see. I expect most sleepers will find this level of bounce to be satisfactory.
Edge Support Test
The Leesa Plus has outstanding sitting edge support and good lying edge support. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.0”. This is 1.11” less sitting sinkage than the average of 4.11”.
Max Sinkage
3.00″
Lying Support
Good
For sitting sinkage I like to see 4.0” or less and the Leesa Plus easily exceeded that mark. Lying edge support is good, but not quite amazing.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

In our lying edge support tests I felt generally well supported while lying directly on the edge. However, the lying edge support on the Leesa Plus is notably worse compared to the Leesa Sapira and Leesa Legend (in addition to their Chill variants).
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The Leesa Plus Hybrid product page is more vague on the exact specs of the edge support compared to many other Leesa mattresses we’ve tested. This fact, combined with our experiences and tests, makes me think this coil isn’t as robust or high quality as others within Leesa’s lineup for edge support.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.6 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Sex performance is fantastic on the Leesa Plus. It has moderately high bounce and exceptional edge support. These two factors are worth 80% of the sex score and give the Leesa Plus a supportive yet engaging feel.

The mattress is quiet, has good pressure relief, and great cooling too. All in all, the Leesa Plus is everything you’d want in a mattress that is good for sex.
Pressure Relief Test
The Leesa Plus has excellent pressure relief. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of pressure point build-up.
Comfort Layer
4.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
The mattress uses 4.0” of comfort material. This is 0.2” less than the average of 4.2” of comfort material, based on all of our tests to date. Even so, the materials look and feel high quality.

The combined impact of the quilted cover with 3.0” of poly foam creates a balanced and effective level of comfort.
While the coil unit does feel a little more basic (at least compared to many other Leesa mattresses), its 13.5 coil gauge creates more than enough pushback to fully support the pressure relief needs of heavier-weighted bodies.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Leesa Plus is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 6 days before fully dissipating.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
6 days
This is a bit longer than the 5-day off-gassing average. Still, it is nowhere near some of the longest off-gassing we’ve experienced (over 2 weeks!)

For most sleepers, this shouldn’t cause much of a disturbance and once the mattress off-gasses, there are really no long-term effects to note.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 100 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 8.0 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 10 | Outstanding |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Leesa offers a trial period of 100 nights, which is a bit shorter than the 164-night average for a trial period. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.
Of the 180+ mattresses we’ve tested to date, 27% have lifetime warranties. The average of the other 73% of mattresses is 13 years. Compared to this date, the Leesa warranty is longer than average on all accounts.
How firm is Leesa Plus?
The Leesa Plus has a medium-firm feel with a firmness rating of 6 out of 10.

This makes it suitable for a wide range of sleepers, balancing softness and pressure relief with support.
Support & Sleeping Positions
The Leesa Plus has excellent support. In our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is more than thick enough at a 13.0” total profile height and uses a 9.0” support layer (8.0” pocketed coil + 1.0” support foam).
The coils are 13.5 gauge and the mattress is approved to support sleepers up to 500 pounds per side (1,000 pounds total).
Overall, I expect most sleepers will find the level of support to be more than sufficient. The only thing that left something to be desired is the edge support.

During our tests and experiences on the Leesa Plus, the edge support felt notably worse than many other Leesa mattress models we’ve tested.
It’s likely this specific coil unit is creating better overall support for heavier weighted bodies, but may not be as advanced with respect to the reinforced coils along the edges.
The table below shows which sleepers may be right for this mattress:
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Maybe | Maybe | Maybe |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |

Materials
This mattress has 5 layers, the top 3 devoted to comfort and the bottom 2 devoted to support. From top to bottom, here are the layers:
- 1.0″ quilted cover
- 2.0″ poly foam
- 1.0″ poly foam
- 8.0″ pocketed coils
- 1.0″ support foam

The Cover
The cover of the Leesa Plus is 1.0″ thick and made of a blend of materials. It contains 84% polyester and 16% viscose. It’s gel-infused which helps improve the cooling performance.

There are also two handles on the side of the mattress which makes it easier to rotate or move the mattress.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer includes a top 2.0″ layer of poly foam followed by a 1.0″ layer of poly foam.

The lower poly foam has a slightly denser feel and helps transition weight and pressure from the top layer into the support layer below.
The Support Layer
The support layer is an 8.0″ pocketed coil layer followed by a 1.0″ high-density support foam.

The queen-size Leesa Plus has 981 13.5-gauge coils. Each coil is individually encased in a thin fabric, which allows each coil to move independently from each other.
Product Evolution
The Leesa Plus Hybrid was released in the fall of 2023. Since its release, there have been no major changes to the mattress, in design or materials. If or when that changes, we will be sure to circle back and update this section accordingly.
