Our Verdict
WinkBeds has a number of mattress designs to appeal to a variety of sleeper preferences. Their flagship “WinkBed” is a hybrid, while they also offer a latex hybrid, a memory foam, and a plus-sized model.
WinkBeds offers four distinct firmness levels for its flagship hybrid mattress to accommodate different body types and sleeping styles. You can choose from Softer (4), Luxury Firm (6), Firmer (8), and Plus (7). The first three are essentially different firmnesses of the same mattress, but the WinkBed Plus is specifically engineered with reinforced support for heavier individuals.
WinkBeds queen-size mattresses range from $1,799 to $1,999. Rather than choosing between low, mid, and high-tier options, all of WinkBeds’ models are at this luxury level and cater to different preferences. For reference, the average price of a queen mattress is $1,489 based on over 390 mattresses tested to date, so WinkBed is priced slightly more than average.
From our tests, the WinkBeds scored an average of 9.15 out of 10, which is the second-highest company average we’ve seen to date. However, the flagship WinkBed model is the highest score we’ve seen to date. For reference, the average mattress has a performance score of 8.53.
Across the 3 models (WinkBed, WinkBed GravityLux, and WinkBed EcoCloud) and their range of firmness options, WinkBeds has a mattress that should fit nearly all sleepers’ preferred sleeping position and general feel.

Firmness
Looking at all available mattresses we’ve tested, WinkBeds range in firmness from 4 to 8 out of 10.
The soft and firm options come from either a variation of the flagship WinkBed mattress or the GravityLux.
Note: our review and their performance scores are based on the medium-firm (luxury-firm) options, so one’s experience may vary with these soft and firm models.
Check the table below to see the details of each mattress.
| Firmness | Rating | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| WinkBed | 4, 6, 7 | Soft, Medium-Firm, Slightly Firm |
| WinkBed EcoCloud | 5 | Medium |
| WinkBed GravityLux | 4, 6, 8 | Soft, Medium-Firm, Firm |
| WinkBed Plus | 7 | Slightly Firm |
Not sure which firmness you need? Your ideal mattress firmness depends on two major factors—sleeping position and body weight. With the right firmness, your body and spine will maintain proper alignment when sleeping.

Lightweight sleepers or those who sleep on their side tend to need a softer mattress. By comparison, heavier sleepers or those who sleep on their back or stomach tend to need more support and a firmer feel.

Cooling Test
The WinkBed mattresses are universally exceptional when it comes to cooling. The average cooling performance across the Luxury Firm, Soft, and Plus models is a 10, because each one of them received the highest, 10/10 score.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding cooling.
| Cooling Test | Score | Baseline | Max. Temp. | Ending Temp. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 10 | 84.0° | 90.3° | 87.6° |
| WinkBed Soft | 10 | 85.4° | 89.7° | 86.8° |
| WinkBed Plus | 10 | 85.3° | 89.3° | 85.2° |
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (after 5 minutes) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Below, you can watch a video of how the heat dissipates on each mattress during our cooling test. For this test, we lie on the mattress for 15 minutes, get off the mattress, and then take periodic surface-level temperature measurements.
WinkBed Luxury Firm
WinkBed Soft
WinkBed Plus
The average cooling score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6.
Compared to the average cooling level, the flagship WinkBed is outstanding in all of its optional forms (except for the Firmer version, which we have not tested yet).
Their hybrid design, gel foam, and quality Tencel cover all have improved breathability and resist heat buildup. In the WinkBed Plus model, they switch out the poly foam for perforated latex foam, which is also highly breathable and heat-resistant.
The WinkBed models achieve this despite offering deep sinkage. If you’re looking for a plush mattress with deeper sinkage that doesn’t compromise on cooling, any of the WinkBed options are fantastic mattresses to choose.
Sinkage Test
When it comes to sinkage, the WinkBed models vary quite a bit, but they all tend to offer deep sinkage. This feels consistent with their branding about their plush euro top cover.
Across the three variants, the WinkBed has an average sinkage depth of 2.7, with measurements ranging from 2.38″ (deep) to 3.16″ (extremely deep).
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sinkage.
| Sinkage Test | Sinkage Feel | Sinkage Depth |
|---|---|---|
| WinkBed | Deep | 2.38″ |
| WinkBed Soft | Extremely Deep | 3.16″ |
| WinkBed Plus | Deep | 2.50″ |
The level of sinkage for each mattress is documented in the images below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm

WinkBed Soft

WinkBed Plus

The average sinkage depth across all mattresses tested to date is 2.23″.
Because all three models are deeper than average, they would typically be best for side sleeping. This is especially true of the WinkBed Soft, whose significant sinkage means we don’t recommend it for back or stomach sleepers weighing over 225 lbs. The soft feel mixed with heavier bodies could mean one’s spine would not rest in a neutral position.
As for the WinkBed Luxury Firm, 2.38″ is a versatile level of sinkage that would be optimal for back, stomach, or side sleeping positions of weights up to 300 lbs.
For those over 300 lbs., the WinkBed Plus is a must. It uses high-density (38 ILD) latex foam to provide more pushback and support while still having the gel and poly foam layers for comfort. It also maintains a deeper level of sinkage from its plush cover.
Motion Transfer Test
For motion transfer, we start to see more variance between the WinkBed models. The three WinkBed mattresses being compared earned an average motion transfer score of 8.5, with scores ranging from 7.9 to 9.6.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding motion transfer.
| Motion Transfer Test | Score | Acc. Range |
|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 9.6 | 5.85 m/s² |
| WinkBed Soft | 8.0 | 9.50 m/s² |
| WinkBed Plus | 7.9 | 9.67 m/s² |
The level of motion transfer on each mattress is also documented in the videos below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm
WinkBed Soft
WinkBed Plus
The average motion transfer score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.2. Based on this average, the WinkBed Soft and Plus models slightly underperformed.
Softer mattresses with deep sinkage can create higher motion by producing a larger slope around compressions and by allowing motion to punch through to support layers like coil units.
In the case of the WinkBed Plus, it has a firmer rating at 7 out of 10 and uses latex foam. Both of these conditions allow for increased motion to ripple across the mattress.
All that said, these scores indicate the Soft and Plus models should be fine for most sleepers. But if you’re someone sensitive to movement, your best bet is the WinkBed Luxury Firm.
Response Test
Moving on, let’s talk about the responsiveness of the WinkBed models. The three mattresses earned an average response time score of 9.6, with no poor scores showing in the bunch.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding response.
| Response Test | Score | Mostly Recovered | Completely Recovered |
|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 10 | 0.2 seconds | 0.3 seconds |
| WinkBed Soft | 9.4 | 0.3 seconds | 0.5 seconds |
| WinkBed Plus | 9.5 | 0.3 seconds | 0.4 seconds |
The level of responsiveness for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm
WinkBed Soft
WinkBed Plus
The average response score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.8.
By this measure, the WinkBed Luxury Firm, WinkBed Soft, and WinkBed Plus all have a significantly faster material response. At these speeds, one should never feel stuck on these mattresses while moving from one position to another.
The gel-foam in the top-most layer of the mattress is a more modern, elastic formulation, as opposed to traditional memory foam. Despite the Luxury Firm model receiving the highest score, all WinkBed variants are exceptionally lively and responsive.
Bounce Test
For bounce, we look at larger movements – ones that are affected by all layers of a mattress’s design. The WinkBed saw an average bounce height of 8.78″, with a range of heights from 6.75″ (low) to 9.91 (moderate-high).
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding bounce.
| Bounce Test | Bounce Feel | Bounce Height |
|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | Moderate | 9.91″ |
| WinkBed Soft | Moderate | 9.68″ |
| WinkBed Plus | Low | 6.75″ |
The bounce level for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm
WinkBed Soft
WinkBed Plus
The average bounce across all mattresses tested to date is 8.76″. From this, we can say that WinkBed models are just about average when it comes to bounce.
I typically look for 8-12″ of bounce, because this is the sweet spot that offers increased mobility without feeling like a trampoline. Some may prefer more or less than this, but the Luxury Firm and Soft models offer moderately high bounce that should work for most sleepers.
If you like the feeling of a calmer, cozier surface, then you may prefer the WinkBed Plus, which has considerably less-than-average bounce.

Generally speaking, mattresses with more bounce are better for ease of movement and increased sex performance. However, higher bounce also typically creates a higher level of motion transfer. So there are pros and cons when it comes to bounce.
Edge Support Test
For an assessment of edge support, we look at both sitting compression and lying support while at the side of each mattress. When it comes to edge support, WinkBed is spectacular.
The three WinkBed variants earned an average of 9.5 for edge support, with scores ranging from 8.6 to 10.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding edge support.
| Edge Support Test | Score | Sitting Sinkage | Lying Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 10 | 2.25″ | Outstanding |
| WinkBed Soft | 8.6 | 4.50″ | Excellent |
| WinkBed Plus | 10 | 2.50″ | Outstanding |
The level of edge support is documented in the images below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm

WinkBed Soft

WinkBed Plus

The average edge support score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.7. Based on this, the WinkBed Luxury Firm and WinkBed Plus have much better edge support than the average mattress.
The WinkBed includes a set of reinforced edge coils, which are a thicker gauge than the rest of the mattress (Interior: 14.75 Gauge, Edge: 13.75 Gauge). This has a huge impact on both sitting and lying at the edge.
However, the softer material of the WinkBed Soft allows for greater edge compression, so that’s a trade-off for this firmness option. However, an 8.6 score still indicates a highly usable edge that has little chance of collapsing or causing you to slide off.
Sex Test
To generate our sex performance scores, we use a weighted formula that factors bounce, edge support, noise, pressure relief, and cooling.
When it comes to sex performance, the WinkBed variants range from fair to excellent.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sex.
| Sex Test | Sex Score | Bounce | Edge Support | Noise | Pressure Relief | Cooling |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 9.1 | 8.7 | 10 | 8.0 | 10 | 10 |
| WinkBed Soft | 8.6 | 8.5 | 8.1 | 10 | 10 | 10 |
| WinkBed Plus | 7.8 | 6.7 | 10 | 8.0 | 10 | 10 |
The average sex score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.2.
The WinkBed Luxury Firm easily beats this average. Its hybrid design, robust edge, and fantastic pressure relief and cooling scores make it excellent for sex. It could have a bit more bounce and be a little quieter, but if sex is your priority, the WinkBed Luxury Firm is the model for you.

The WinkBed Soft is nearly as good, but it loses some points for worse sitting edge support.
The 7.8 sex score on the WinkBed Plus isn’t a showstopper by any means. The lower bounce indicates it may be more strenuous, but this model dd have the advantage of strong edge support. It also creates more noise than you may prefer.
Pressure Relief Test
For pressure relief, we assess the comfort and support dynamics of each mattress. Across each variant of the WinkBed mattress, we found outstanding pressure relief.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding pressure relief.
| Pressure Relief Test | Score | Comfort Layer | Support Layer |
|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 10 | 5.00″ | 9.00″ |
| WinkBed Soft | 10 | 5.00″ | 9.00″ |
| WinkBed Plus | 10 | 5.50″ | 9.00″ |
The average pressure relief score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6.
By this measure, the WinkBed models are well-above the average mattress in terms of comfort and pressure relief. From a design perspective, they are incredibly similar in construction.
The WinkBed Luxury Firm, WinkBed Soft, and WinkBed Plus all have a hybrid construction with zoned support. This means that the level of pushback/support varies in order to provide each major zone of one’s body with the optimal level.
Each WinkBed model is equipped with 5.00″ of comfort material, which is a solid amount more than average (4.20″). This allows for more bodies to sink lower, and the varied layers create a gradual transition from comfort to support.
The materials included in each mattress are documented in the images below.
WinkBed Luxury Firm

WinkBed Soft

WinkBed Plus

Beyond quantity, there’s quality. The foams used in the top layers of each mattress look and feel extremely high quality. We’ve also been provided with the density information by WinkBed. The middle foam layer is particularly dense at 4.0 PCF, where cheaper mattresses use foams at a maximum of 2.5 PCF.
Finally, the WinkBed pillow top adds a satisfying feel that truly brings the comfort up to the luxurious level.
Off-Gassing Test
When it comes to off-gassing intensity and duration, the WinkBed variations are among the best we’ve tested to date.
The average off-gassing score across the three WinkBed variations is 9.7, with their scores ranging from 9.4 to 10.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding off-gassing.
| Off-Gassing Test | Score | Initial Smell | Smell Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| WinkBed Luxury Firm | 10 | None | 0 days |
| WinkBed Soft | 9.4 | Minimal | 2 days |
| WinkBed Plus | 9.7 | Moderate | 1 day |
The average smell duration across all mattresses tested to date is 7.13 days.
While there’s a range of 0 to 2 days between these WinkBed models, they are all so much faster than the average mattress when it comes to completing off-gassing.
The WinkBed Luxury Firm was the fastest among the three, but that’s also because we didn’t perceive any noticeable odor upon the initial unboxing. There simply was no off-gassing to consider.

The Soft and Plus versions took a day or two between them, and these smell durations are practically negligible compared to the average mattress, which takes a full week to finish.
Ultimately, the WinkBed, in all its forms, is one of the best mattresses for those sensitive to synthetic odors.
Company
Finally, let’s review the broad company policies that may influence your decision in choosing the WinkBed.
As a company, WinkBeds offers sleepers a 120-night trial period, a lifetime warranty, free shipping, and free returns. These are near-perfect, consumer-friendly terms for sleepers in the modern mattress industry.
The only nitpick we have that earned them less than 10 is the 120-night trial period. It’s a little shorter than average, and it’s not unheard of for some companies to offer a full-year trial. In every other respect, these terms are everything sleepers could expect.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding company policies.
| Company | WinkBeds |
|---|---|
| Score | 9.4 |
| Trial Period | 120 nights |
| Warranty | Lifetime |
| Shipping | $0 |
| Returns | $0 |
| Country of Origin | USA |
To date, we have tested 395+ mattresses from 106 different brands. The average trial length is 173 nights, and the average warranty is 13 years, excluding 41% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.
