What Is the Tempurpedic Mattress Made of?

Derek Hales

Updated

Tempurpedic mattresses are made from a blend of memory foam and denser support foam for optimal comfort. Hybrid models also have over 1,000 spring coils in the base layer.

Their exact composition depends on the model, but the layers will always be in the same order from top to bottom—comfort material, support material, and a base. Additionally, all mattresses include a moisture-wicking cover.

Tempurpedic Glossary of Terms

Tempurpedic has a number of proprietary material types that can get a little cloudy on the website. Here is a breakdown of what each material is.

  • Original TEMPUR: A proprietary type of memory foam with classic viscoelastic properties and feel
  • TEMPUR-ES (Extra Soft): This material is similar to the original TEMPUR, but has a softer feel
  • TEMPUR-APR: This material is a type of support foam designed for more targeted pressure relief
  • PureCool Foam: This is a memory foam designed for cooling, used on the TEMPUR ProBreeze and ProBreeze Hybrid only.
  • PureCool+ Foam: This is a memory foam designed for better cooling, used on the TEMPUR LuxeBreeze and LuxeBreeze Hybrid only.
  • TEMPUR-CM+: A (Climate Management) cooling material used in the comfort layer of Tempurpedic Breeze mattresses for better airflow. It is unclear what this material is actually made of.
