Best For
- Low price, under $300 for a queen mattress
- Motion transfer is surprisingly low
- Material responsiveness is reasonably fast
Considerations
- Terrible pressure relief, one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I’ve tested to date
- Longer off-gassing than average (11 days)
- Edge support is incredibly disappointing while lying
Our Verdict
The Vesgantti is an 11.5″ coil mattress that is primarily made of pocketed coils, topped with a thin 1.0″ poly foam and 1.0″ quilted cover. It has a very traditional design that leaves something to be desired in terms of pressure relief and just comfort in general.
This mattress is available in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium-firm feel.
The Vesgantti has moderate sinkage and high levels of bounce. More bounce is pretty typical for coil mattresses as the spring foundation really gives the mattress a high level of energy and pushback.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of only 7.07, ranking in the bottom 3% of all mattresses tested to date.
The advantage of this mattress is certainly the price, costing only $284 for a queen mattress, 70% less than average. But at the end of the day, you get what you pay for and the Vesgantti will leave you with many performance pitfalls in exchange for the low price.

How is Vesgantti Different?
The Vesgantti is a coil mattress with a below-average performance score, but also a price tag that is significantly below average as well. The result is essentially a cheap, low-performing mattress.
Advantages
This mattress has numerous issues but does excel in a few key areas. First, the price tag is very low. A queen mattress is only $285, 70% less expensive than the average mattress. It also has fantastic cooling performance. Response time and edge support are also above average as well.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has moderate sinkage and high levels of bounce. The result is a mattress with a bouncy, yet restrained feel.
Disadvantages
Areas that struggle include higher levels of motion transfer (17% more than average) and slower off-gassing as well.

Upon unboxing, this mattress took 11 nights for all odor to fully dissipate. For reference, the average is 6 days so this is quite a bit slower than average.
The other area where the Vesgantti really struggled is pressure relief. This mattress has a 2.0″ comfort layer, which is 2.2″ thinner than average, and also a thinner overall profile (11.5″ compared to the average of 12.1″).
The limited comfort layer and quality of the materials create a mattress that simply isn’t particularly comfortable.
Cooling Test
The Vesgantti has fair cooling. During our tests, I felt a moderate level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
76.3° F
Max Temp.
90.9° F
Ending Temp.
81.9° F
Some isolated parts of my body, especially under my mid-back, I felt a level of heat retention I would describe as “hot”. However, this was more isolated, with the bulk of the mattress just feeling warm.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
When we consider the material design this is a pretty basic mattress. We have 2.0” of comfort material sitting atop a 9.5” coil unit. Having less foam in the mattress definitely helps to reduce heat retention, as there is simply less material that heat could be easily trapped within.
Even so, the foam comfort layers don’t seem to breathe particularly well and I could notably feel the trapped heat around my body.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.9° F. This is 1.1° more than the average of 89.8° F, based on all of our tests to date.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is fair.
Sinkage Test
The Vesgantti has moderate sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.12″. This is 0.04″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.16″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.12″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a more traditional type of coil feel. While Vesgantti calls this a hybrid, it contains so little foam that I believe this mattress is closer to the coil mattress type than it is a hybrid.
The material construction is just 2.0” of comfort material (1.0” of which is the quilted cover) on top of 9.5” of coil springs. As a result, the substantial feel of the mattress is the metal springs.
Those springs do not create a notable hug around the body. Ultimately, this mattress creates a more traditional coil and spring type of a feel. To be comfortable on this mattress you’ll need to prefer that coil feel and be okay with less hug and less body contour.
Motion Transfer Test
The Vesgantti has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.27 m/s². This is 17% less motion transfer than the average of 8.74 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
3.18 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-4.09 m/s²
Accel. Range
7.27 m/s²
I was surprised by the low level of motion. Typically, mattresses with less foam and a tall spring coil unit will have a higher level of motion. Seemingly, the coil unit is doing a nice job at isolating movement between coils.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.14 seconds.
We see a smaller secondary spike from 0.50 to 0.72 seconds and it’s not until 1.15 seconds that we return to near-zero levels of energy.

While I was pleased with the relatively low level of motion intensity, the longer-than-average motion duration is far from ideal. Even so, considering the price point and motion peaks it’s hard to complain too much.
Response Test
The Vesgantti is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a fast mostly recovered response time and a moderate fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.4 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.1 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.03 seconds faster than the average of 0.43 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.1 seconds, which is 0.12 seconds slower than the average of 0.98 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
On the positive side, the bulk of the mattress is able to rebound back to shape incredibly quickly. This makes perfect sense, given that 9.5” of the total 11.5” design is a metal spring unit.
These metal coils rebound back to shape effectively instantly. The 2.0” comfort layer takes a moment or two to fully recover to its original shape.
Certainly, we would have liked to have seen the response time be closer to or better than average, but at 1.1 seconds to recover it’s not excessively slow to fully recover. All things considered, I don’t expect this responsiveness will be an issue for most sleepers.
Bounce Test
The Vesgantti has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 10.33″. This is 1.06″ more bounce than the average of 9.27″, based on all of our tests to date.

Max Bounce Height

Typically, coil mattresses have a higher-than-average level of bounce and that’s exactly what we measured with the Vesgantti. The 9.5” coil unit rebounds ample bounce.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
In addition, having a thinner-than-average comfort layer is also aiding in the higher bounce. The higher bounce is greatly beneficial for sex and ease of movement. However, it’s also the reason that we measured a longer-than-average motion duration.
Edge Support Test
The Vesgantti has good sitting edge support and poor lying edge support.
Max Sinkage
4.50″
Lying Support
Poor
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.50″. This is 0.46″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.04″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While sitting directly on the edge, the mattress did a surprisingly good job at maintaining its shape and providing good support.
While sitting edge support was good, lying edge support left much to be desired. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was poor in all sleeping positions.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

When my body was within even several inches of the edge there was a notable compression of materials, especially under my midsection. The mattress contains no edge support foam and no reinforced edge support coils.
When you couple this fact with the limited 2.0” comfort layer (and those foams being lower quality), you simply have no substantial materials that are capable of supporting sleepers at the edge.
Overall, I found lying edge support to be incredibly disappointing, even so, sitting edge support was still reasonably good.
Sex Test
The Vesgantti has good sex performance. On the positive side, bounce is high and sitting edge support is good. Bounce and edge support are by far the two most critical factors for good bounce.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.9 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 8.1 | Good |
Noise | 5% | 4.0 | Very high |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 4.0 | Terrible |
Cooling | 5% | 7.0 | Fair |
Mattresses that perform well in these two categories can earn a good score, even if performance elsewhere is subpar. Ultimately, that is exactly what we measured with the Vesgantti.

On the negative side, noise was very high, pressure relief was terrible, and cooling was only fair. All of these sex performance categories earned below-average scores.
Even so, the higher-than-average bounce and good enough edge support helped the Vesgantti earn a good score overall for sex.
Pressure Relief Test
The Vesgantti has a terrible level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt excessive pressure points across my body. The mattress only contains 2.0” of comfort materials, with 1.0” of that being within the quilted cover.
Comfort Layer
2.0″
Support Layer
9.5″
The Vesgantti has 2.15″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.15″, based on all of our tests to date. Needless to say, having a comfort layer that is less than average isn’t great.
More distressing though is the quality of the foam layers. These comfort foams are among the worst I have ever seen in a mattress. The feel, the sound, the comfort, the pressure relief, everything about these foams is lacking. Everything about these foams screams poor performance and low quality.

The performance level on day 1 was quite frankly, awful. Even so, given their relative quality, I also am incredibly concerned about foam longevity. This type of foam simply is not going to hold up and will get notably worse over time.
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be terrible.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.15 | 0.97 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.08 | 0.91 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.10 | 0.85 |
Off-Gassing Test
The Vesgantti had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 11 days. This is 4.6 days more than the average of smell duration of 6.4 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
11 days
If you’re sensitive to strong odors, this could be an issue. The good news is that off-gassing is a one-time process and, once complete, should not affect the mattress long-term.

Company
The Vesgantti mattress comes with a 100-night trial period and a 10-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 100 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 8.0 | 10 years |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | China |
Compared to the average trial (179 nights), this is significantly shorter. The warranty is also shorter—the average warranty is 13 years, excluding 1 in 4 mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.
How firm is the Vesgantti?
The Vesgantti mattress comes in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, with a medium-firm feel.

This firmness would generally be suitable for a wide range of sleepers, but as our tests document above, there are a series of performance issues that make this mattress unsuitable for many sleepers.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Vesgantti is terrible. During our tests, I felt that the mattress did not create sufficient support or comfort for my body.
The mattress is equipped with a 9.5″ support layer. This is 1.62″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.88″, based on all of our tests to date. While it’s great to see a support layer that is thicker than average, that’s not the full story.
The quality of the coil unit, as well as the quality of the foam layers, is also important. As we discussed in the pressure relief section, pressure relief performance was terrible. The foams simply provide no substantial level of pressure relief or comfort.

As a result, it is functionally as if you are lying directly on the spring unit itself. Suffice it to say, lying so close to a metal spring coil unit does not feel great on the body and does not create great support.
For a mattress to be comfortable it needs to allow the sleepers to lie in the same position without experiencing undue pressure points. The Vesgantti simply failed to achieve that requirement.

As a result, I was unable to lie comfortably in the same position for any extended period of time. The lack of support on the Vesgantti is as much to do with the lack of pressure relief and comfort as it is a lack of material quality and performance with respect to the 9.5” support layer.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | No | No | No |
150-250 lbs. | No | No | No |
250-300 lbs. | No | No | No |
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Vesgantti is terrible. This is one of the worst support experiences on a mattress I have tested in my career.
Design
The Vesgantti is an 11.5″ coil mattress with a medium-firm feel (6 out of 10). It is designed as an extremely budget-friendly mattress with a traditional coil feel and a price that is 30% below average.
Type
Coil
Thickness

To hit this low price, this mattress cuts a number of corners. It has below-average performance in 4 out of 8 performance tests and a significantly thinner comfort layer (only 2.0″ thick, the average is 4.2″).

Materials
There are only three layers that make up the total 11.5″ thickness of this mattress. From top to bottom, we see the following layers:
- 1.0” quilted cover
- 1.0” poly foam
- 9.5” pocketed coils

The Law Tag outlines the full breakdown of materials included in this mattress.
- Materials

- 100% polyester

- Queen
The Vesgantti has an unusual law tag that seemingly does not comply with US law. The mattress law tag did not include where it’s made or the specific material components of the mattress internals, both of which are required to be included on the law tag.
The Cover
The Vesgantti mattress has a thin knit cover with a quilted design. It has moderate sinkage and great breathability (cooling score was 10/10).

There are also carrying handles on each of the long sides of the mattress. This can make it easier to rotate or transport the mattress.
The Comfort Layer
Beneath the cover is the comfort layer, which is made of a 1.0″ poly foam layer. This is incredibly thin and is a huge contributing factor to the poor pressure relief from this mattress.

The Support Layer
The support layer is made exclusively from pocketed coils. At 9.5″, these coils make up 82.6% of the total thickness of the mattress.

Product Evolution
The exact date that the Vesgantti coil mattress was released is a bit unclear. But there are thousands of reviews on this mattress, dating back to 2018 and possibly beyond.
Its overall design appears to be basically the same as it relies on a more traditional design and feel.
