Our Verdict
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss is a 14.50″ latex hybrid mattress with a plush pillow top cover, latex foam comfort layer, and a zoned pocketed coil base. The pillow top has a gusset sewn into the design, helping to improve pressure relief.
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss is available in two firmness levels — medium and medium-firm. I tested the medium version. In our tests, I found the Medium to be more like a Soft (4 out of 10), but would estimate the Medium-Firm to be a medium-firm (6 out of 10).
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. To enjoy the feel of this mattress, you’ll really need to like sleeping “in the mattress” and not “on the mattress”.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.87, ranking the mattress in the top 29% of all mattresses tested to date. This is an above-average score, considering the mattress average (across all mattresses tested to date) is 8.53.
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss is $2,049 for a queen-sized mattress, which is very near the average price for a latex hybrid. The average latex hybrid is $1,997, making the Signature Bliss only 3% higher than average.
Overall, the Signature Bliss is a strong performer at a reasonable price point.

How is Plushbeds Signature Bliss Different?
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss is a 14.50″ latex hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is higher than average and a price that is very near the average (only 3% higher than average). For a latex hybrid with a more traditional pillow top design, this is a solid pick.
Advantages
Specific advantages to the Signature Bliss include exceptional cooling, very fast material response time, and exceptional pressure relief.
If you’re looking for a traditional pillow top, this is one of the few mattresses that we’ve tested that has a separate gusset separating the pillow top from the rest of the mattress.

Neutral Factors
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. These are considered “neutral factors” since different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas.
To enjoy the feel of the Signature Bliss, you’ll need to be sure that you enjoy deeper sinakge. This sinkage isn’t producing any “stuck” feeling, and the mattress still has a very fast response time, but it’s something to note.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages to the Plushbeds Signature Bliss would include higher levels of motion transfer, a worse sex score, and longer off-gassing.
This mattress takes 11 days to fully off-gas, although it’s not a chemical smell, but rather the smell of latex, which smells like rubber.
Cooling Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention.
Baseline Temp.
77.7° F
Max. Temp.
89.2° F
Ending Temp.
80.9° F
The mattress breathed incredibly well and maintained a cooler feel through our tests. This mattress uses a proven latex hybrid design with layers of latex within the comfort layer and a pocketed coil support base.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The coils provide ample airflow, improving breathability, while the latex simply doesn’t retain significant heat. Latex typically retains less heat than many types of poly foam and memory foam, and that’s exactly what we measured here.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.2° F. This is 0.8° cooler than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 2.9 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.9 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has extremely deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 4.13″.
Sinkage Depth
4.13″
Sinkage Feel
Extremely Deep
Body Contour
Balanced
This is 1.90″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.23″, based on all of our tests to date. The mattress also has a balanced body contouring hug.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

While this mattress does create extremely deep sinkage, the body hug is more balanced. Unlike memory foam, which creates a sharper, dramatic, and more exacting hug to your body’s precise shape, this latex hybrid creates a more generalized and relaxed hug around the body.
The pillow top comfort layer, which is made from a quilted cotton cover and an extra soft layer of latex, is incredibly light, fluffy, and airy. It creates one of the most unique mattress feels I’ve tested to date.
Motion Transfer Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has a high level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 12.07 m/s². This is 38% more motion transfer than the average of 8.77 m/s².
Accel. Range
12.07 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.08 seconds
Latex hybrids typically create higher motion transfer than average and that’s exactly what we measured here as well. Compounding the latex hybrid design is the extremely deep sinkage level.
Sinking deeper into the mattress means the body can come into greater contact with the coil unit, which then creates a higher degree of energy transfer and motion.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.25 seconds. Motion begins to decline thereafter, but remains spiky until 0.75 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

By 1.08 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.19 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.89 seconds.
Both motion intensity and motion duration are worse than average. As a result, the Plushbeds Signature Bliss earns a below-average motion transfer score.
Response Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has an extremely fast material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.21 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.3 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.72 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
This is effectively an instant material recovery speed and is tied for 1st with a number of other highly responsive mattresses we’ve tested to date.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The extremely fast material recovery ensures the mattress is easy to move around on and won’t create a “stuck” feeling in the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.12″. This is 2.67″ less bounce than the average of 8.79″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
0.52″
Max. Rebound
5.60″
Total Bounce
6.12″
While latex hybrids typically create more bounce than average, that’s not what we measured with this model. The difference maker comes down to two major factors.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

First, this mattress is soft. That softer feel just doesn’t rebound energy nearly to the same degree as medium-firm and firmer mattresses do.
And second, this mattress has an extremely deep sinkage level. That deeper sinkage, when combined with the soft feel, means that bodies easily sink deeply into the mattress, but the mattress doesn’t have the firmness or rigidity to create high bounce from that sinkage.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce is a notable reason why motion transfer wasn’t any worse than it was. However, the lower bounce does make sex worse.
Even so, this lower level of bounce is less a specific issue with the Signature Bliss, but rather something that most soft mattresses with this sinkage depth struggle with.
Edge Support Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has fair sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.75″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.75″. This is 0.82″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. Edge support while lying is notably better compared to sitting edge support.
When weight is more evenly distributed, this mattress does much better than when weight is all localized to a single spot where you’re sitting.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Notably, this mattress is not equipped with reinforced edge support foam or reinforced edge coils along the perimeter. That said, I’m really surprised at just how good the edge support is, at least for lying edge support.
Given the sinkage depth and softness, I’m not surprised that the sitting edge support isn’t as good. So while sitting edge support isn’t perfect, at least for sleeping, the edge support is excellent.
Sex Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal and both pressure relief and cooling earned perfect 10/10 scores. Unfortunately, that’s where the bright spots end.

In our edge tests, we measured a sitting edge compression at 4.75”, which is notably deeper than average.
That increased sitting sinkage depth means the edge of the mattress just isn’t as supportive as it could be, which limits the usable surface area for sex.
Lastly, we have bounce, which we measured at 6.12”. This is notably less bounce than average.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 6.3 | Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 7.8 | Fair |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better. Mattresses with lower bounce don’t return as much energy and, as a result, are simply more strenuous and tiring for couples to have sex on.
All factors considered, the Signature Bliss earns a below-average sex score. To be fair, this performance level is pretty typical compared to other soft mattresses with deeper sinkage.
All that to say, if you want a softer mattress with deeper sinkage, then you should expect sex performance won’t be incredible in many cases.
Pressure Relief Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure points on my body. To the contrary, this mattress is exceedingly comfortable to lie on.
Comfort Layer
6.50″
Support Layer
8.00″
The mattress is equipped with 6.5″ of comfort material, which is 2.21″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.29″, based on all of our tests to date.
Unlike memory foam, which has a more exacting and precise hug around the body, this mattress has a more generalized and relaxed hug.
That relaxed hug comes from a 2.50” pillow top and two layers of latex foam. The pillow top is especially light and airy, creating a gentle cradling of the body.

This mattress has one of the most unique feels I’ve tested to date and one of the softest latex layers I’ve ever tested. For all mattress tests, we open up the mattress to examine the layer quality.
Overall, I’m pleased with what I see. The layers of latex and pillow top look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.95. Ideally, I want to see all PSI measurements at 1.0 or lower and the Signature Bliss cleared that mark.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.12 | 0.95 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.52 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.08 | 0.56 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 11 days. This is 3.8 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.2 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
11 days
While the smell duration was longer than average, if there is a silver lining, it’s that the smell type isn’t as offensive as many memory foam or poly foams.

While latex does still have a strong odor, it’s also a rubber smell, whereas polyurethane foams have a chemical odor.
Company
Plushbeds mattresses come with a 100-night trial period and a lifetime warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 8.0 | 100 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 10 | Lifetime |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 103+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 175 nights, 75 nights more than Plushbeds offers. While this is a strike against the trial period, Plushbeds does have a lifetime warranty.
A warranty of this length is only offered by 41% of mattresses. The average of the other 59% of mattresses is 13 years, quite a bit shorter than Plushbeds.

How firm is Plushbeds Signature Bliss?
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss mattress is available in two firmness levels—medium and medium-firm.
We tested the medium version, which I found to have a softer feel than what Plushbeds estimates. In our tests, the Signature Bliss was a 4 out of 10 on the firmness scale, rather than a medium feel.

While I didn’t test the medium-firm version, based on our experiences with the other firmness version and Plushbed’s relative firmness scale, I would rate it at a 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm. This gives it a medium-firm feel.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Plushbeds Signature Bliss is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported on my side and back, but I also felt that support on my stomach wasn’t great.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 6.50″ |
| Support Layer | 8.00″ |
| Firmness | Soft, and Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer. This is 0.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date. This mattress is available in a medium and medium-firm feel.
We tested the medium version. Despite the “medium” name, I found this mattress has a soft feel. That soft feel can be an excellent choice for many side sleepers and some back sleepers.

However, I would advise stomach sleepers to steer clear of this firmness, as the sinkage depth is simply too extreme to maintain proper spinal alignment while on your stomach.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Medium Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
| 150-250 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
| 250-300 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
Medium-Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
I would estimate the medium-firm feel is 6 out of 10 firmness, which is going to be a more balanced firmness and a better fit for most body types and sleeping positions.
Moving on, this mattress is equipped with a zoned pocketed coil unit with 5 distinct zones. Zoned support is great, as it helps to provide more appropriate support to individual parts of the body and reduces mattress sagging over time.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Plushbeds Signature Bliss to be excellent.
Design
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss is a 14.50″ latex hybrid mattress that comes in two firmness options—Medium and Medium-Firm.

This mattress arrives compressed in a box, but bear in mind, it’s heavier than many other natural or organic mattresses.

The Cover
The Plushbeds Signature Bliss has a very plush pillow top cover. It is 2.5″ thick, thicker than many other pillow top mattresses that we’ve tested to date.

Additionally, the pillow top has a separate gusset that separates it from the rest of the mattress, as shown below.

This extra step in production not only gives the mattress a more luxurious aesthetic, but it also provides a softer top with a “cloud-like” feel.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 6.50″ thick and made of two layers of Dunlop latex foam. Both layers are 2.0″ thick, but one layer is sewn within the pillow top and the 2nd foam sits directly above the support coils.

The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.00″ thick and made of 8.0″ pocketed coils. Coils on the outside edge of the mattress are 13.5-gauge and designed to improve edge support.

Meanwhile, coils closer to the core of the mattress are 15.5-gauge and designed for better pressure relief and support.
Product Evolution
Plushbeds was founded around 2007 and started out of the gate as a “direct-to-consumer” brand.
While we don’t know exactly when the Signature Bliss hit the market, Plushbeds has produced other mattresses within the “Bliss” collection as far back as 2016 (Plushbeds Luxury Bliss).
The biggest difference between the Signature Bliss and the Luxury Bliss is the top, as the Signature has the plush pillow top layer, while the Luxury Bliss focused on a simpler quilted cover.
