Considerations

  • Slower material response time
  • Edge support struggles both with sitting or lying
  • Low sex score (thanks largely to the low bounce and worse edge support)

Our Verdict

The Nectar Luxe mattress is a 13.75″ memory foam mattress that is made of a combination of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam.

This mattress has deep levels of sinkage and very low levels of bounce.

How is Nectar Luxe Different?

The Nectar Luxe has an overall performance that is better than average as well, but also a price tag that is slightly more than average—16% more than the average memory foam mattress (a difference of $173 on a queen-sized mattress).

Advantages

Advantages of the Nectar Luxe include better cooling performance, lower levels of motion transfer, and faster off-gassing. The mattress comes with a longer trial and warranty than average as well.

It has a 6.0″ comfort layer, which gives the mattress fantastic pressure relief.

Neutral Factors

This mattress has deep sinkage and very low levels of bounce. It maximizes contour and hug, and limits motion, many of the classic attributes of traditional memory foam.

Disadvantages

Disadvantages of the Nectar Luxe include struggling edge support, both when sitting and lying, as well as a slower material response time.

Cooling Test

The Nectar Luxe has excellent cooling. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body. I was extremely surprised at the level of cooling performance.

Baseline Temp.

75.4° F

Max Temp.

87.1° F

Ending Temp.

81.4° F

Typically, memory foam mattresses struggle more with heat retention, as memory foam by its nature often retains more heat. However, this particular type of memory foam appears to breathe well and avoid heat retention.

In addition, the thin cover breathes well and further improves cooling performance.

  • Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
  • Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
  • Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes

In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 87.1° F. This is 2.6° cooler than the average of 89.7°, based on all of our tests to date.

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.

Sinkage Test

The Nectar Luxe has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.45”. This is 0.31” more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.14”, based on all of our tests to date.

Sinkage Depth

2.45″

Sinkage Feel

Deep

The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

Nectar Luxe Sinkage Test

The mattress creates a more dramatic body-contouring hug. In addition, it has a more classic memory foam feel and, due to the deeper sinkage, creates a more enveloping feel around the body.

Material responsiveness isn’t instant, but it’s not slow either. This should help to prevent the mattress from creating an excessive “stuck” feeling for sleepers.

Even so, it is a deeper sinkage and a more enveloping feel. As a result, some sleepers could find it is more troublesome to change positions during the night.

8.7

Motion Transfer Test

The Nectar Luxe has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.88 m/s². This is 11% less motion transfer than the average of 8.81 m/s².

Max. Acceleration

3.68 m/s²

Min. Acceleration

-4.20 m/s²

Accel. Range

The combination of all-foam design, thick 2.75” memory foam layer, thin cover, and more traditional memory foam feel are all helping to reduce motion transfer.

The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.

In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.14 seconds.

Nectar Luxe Motion Transfer Chart
Nectar Luxe Motion Transfer Chart

Motion rapidly declines thereafter and by 0.65 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy. Both the motion intensity and motion duration is well restrained, creating a low level of motion transfer on the mattress.

7.9

Response Test

The Nectar Luxe is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a fast mostly recovered response time, but only a moderate speed for the full material recovery.

Mostly Recovered

0.5 sec.

Complete Recovery

1.2 sec.

In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.5 seconds, which is 0.09 seconds slower than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.

The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.

In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.2 seconds, which is 0.30 seconds slower than the average of 0.90 seconds. Suffice to say, both of these material response times are far from instant.

The all-foam design, especially with 2.75” of more traditional memory foam, simply takes a little more time to recover back to shape. For some sleepers, this will make the mattress more difficult to move around on.

Bounce Test

The Nectar Luxe has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 5.37”. This is 4.20” less bounce than the average of 9.57”, based on all of our tests to date.

Max. Depth

5.40″

Max. Rebound

-0.03″

Total Bounce

5.37″

While the lower bounce is a great help in keeping motion transfer lower, it also makes it more difficult to move around on the mattress and has a significant negative impact on amorous activities.

Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.

The all-foam design and thick memory foam layer on top both work together to reduce bounce. Ideally, I want to see 8-12” of total bounce height. Needless to say, Nectar Luxe is far from that mark.

The lower bounce creates a more polarizing feel. Some sleepers won’t be bothered by it, while others will find the feel is simply too foreign with greater difficulty changing positions and a more strenuous dance without pants.

6.8

Edge Support Test

The Nectar Luxe has mediocre edge support for sitting and fair edge support for lying. In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 5.75”. This is 1.73” more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.02”, based on all of our tests to date.

Max Sinkage

5.75″

Lying Support

Fair

Fortunately, the mattress has a taller-than-average total profile height at 13.75”. As a result, even with 5.75” of sitting sinkage, there isn’t a full material collapse. However, there should be no question that this level of edge support is far from good.

The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.

Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

Nectar Luxe Edge Support Test With Vest

In our lying edge support test, the performance was modestly better. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt reasonably well supported, and yet, there is clearly room for improvement.

The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.

Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Nectar Luxe Edge Support Back Sleeping

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

In my view, this is a classic case of more traditional memory foam. The memory foam creates lots of body contouring hug, which is great while in the middle of the mattress, however, at the edge that same contouring effect creates a weakening of support.

Ultimately, it makes the edge support feel quite squishy and unsupportive. Overall, edge support leaves much to be desired.

6.5

Sex Test

The Nectar Luxe has mediocre sex performance. On the positive side, pressure relief is outstanding, the mattress creates minimal noise, and cooling is excellent. In terms of comfort, the Nectar Luxe nails it.

However, that’s where the good times end. Edge support is mediocre, with a significantly worse than average 5.75” of sitting edge sinkage. This weaker edge support means using the edge of the mattress for your dance without pants will be a more difficult experience, at best.

Sex FactorFactor WeightScoreRating
Bounce65%5.8Very Low
Edge Support20%6.6Mediocre
Noise5%10Minimal
Pressure Relief5%10Outstanding
Cooling5%9.0Excellent

Likewise, the bounce is very low at just 5.37” of total bounce height. This is considerably lower than the average bounce height of 9.57”.

In fact, Nectar’s Luxe is in the bottom 6% of mattresses by total bounce height. The limited bounce and weak edge support are a devastating combination that is negatively impacting the total amorous activity performance.

10

Pressure Relief Test

The Nectar Luxe has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of pressure point build-up. The mattress is incredibly comfortable.

Comfort Layer

6.0″

Support Layer

7.8″

It’s equipped with 5.5” of comfort material, split across a 2.75” layer of memory foam and a 2.75” layer of poly foam. This is the thickest comfort layers offered by any Nectar mattress.

Based on all of our tests to date, the average comfort layer thickness is 4.0”. As a result, Nectar’s Luxe with its 5.5” comfort layer is considerably thicker. That extra material is paying huge dividends.

As is the quality of said materials. The memory foam layer in particular looks and feels high quality. To be fair, it’s not the absolute highest or best quality we’ve tested.

Even so, at this price point, I’m more than pleased with the quality and performance level. When I consider the material thickness, material quality, objective pressure mapping tests, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be more than sufficient.

How firm is Nectar Luxe?

The Nectar Luxe has a medium feel with a firmness level of 5 out of 10.

Support & Sleeping Positions

Support on the Nectar Luxe is excellent. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 7.75” support foam layer.

This is just slightly thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.9”, based on all of our tests to date. Equally importantly, the mattress also has a 5.5” comfort layer.

Nectar Luxe Lounging 3
Nectar Luxe Lounging 3

For a mattress to be supportive, it must be capable of creating sufficient comfort so sleepers can lie in the same position, while also achieving a neutral spinal alignment for sleepers.

The 13.75” of total foam on the Nectar Luxe is able to accomplish that. Notably, the mattress has a medium feel and a deeper level of sinkage.

This comfort dynamic is best suited to the needs of most side sleepers.

Some back and stomach sleepers may find it simply creates too much sinkage to create a neutral spinal alignment. That said, for side sleepers specifically it creates fantastic support.

Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Nectar Luxe is more than sufficient.

The Cover

This mattress has a 0.5″ cooling cover. It is mostly made of a combination of polyester and viscose, with 5% polyurethane.

The design is geometric with white and gray accents. The thin cover wraps onto the sides of the mattress, before transitioning into a dark blue fabric that has a thicker feel.

Nectar Luxe Cover Pattern

One note, there are no handles on the sides of the mattress. Not all sleepers will find this feature to be an issue, but if you plan on moving a lot it could be a problem.

At this price point, handles are definitely something I like to see.

Notably, all of Nectar’s hybrid mattresses contain handles. See our reviews below:

The Comfort Layer

The comfort layer consists of two layers of foam. On top, we have a 2.75″ copper memory foam (orange) immediately followed by a 2.75″ transitional poly foam (white).

Product Evolution

The Nectar Luxe was originally named the Nectar Premier Copper when it was launched in 2021. In 2024, the Premier Copper was renamed the Nectar Luxe and with the name, we noted a number of changes made to the mattress as well.

Nectar Luxe retained a medium feel (5 out of 10 firmness) and the overall score dropped slightly as well. Looking at specific performance, pressure relief is notably better on the new Nectar Luxe compared to the Hybrid Premier Copper.

However, motion is slightly worse, material responsive is slower, and edge support is slightly worse.
