Our Verdict
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper is a 14” memory foam hybrid mattress made of a top layer of memory foam and poly foam for the comfort layer. Pocketed coils and support foam form the base and provide ample support for sleepers.
It has minimal sinkage and moderate bounce. This causes sleepers to sleep more “on top” of the foams as opposed to “in” them.
It comes in a single firmness a 6.5 out of 10, making it a good option for most body types and sleeping positions.
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper mattress has an overall score of 8.87 which placed it in the top 30% percentile compared all mattresses tested to date. Looking specifically at memory foam hybrids, this mattress scores in the top 43%.

How is Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper Different?
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has higher overall performance than average and a price that is 7% lower than average—compared to the average memory foam hybrid (a savings of $94 on the queen size).
Advantages
Specific advantages for the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper include better cooling performance, better edge support, and an overall profile that is 2.0″ thicker than the average mattress. The exceptional edge support also boosts the sex score for this mattress.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has 9% less sinkage than average and 4% less bounce than average. Both of these factors are considered “neutral” since then are neither good nor bad and based more on a sleeper’s personal preference.
Disadvantages
The only real disadvantage for the Hybrid Premier Copper is 18% higher levels of motion transfer. If you’re a light sleeper or super sensitive to drastic movements, this may be a bigger (or not so big) issue for you.

Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper is excellent. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
80.5° F
Max Temp.
89.3° F
Ending Temp.
84.1° F
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The Nectar breathes well and keeps a comfortable surface level temperature. In terms of design, the mattress has many factors that help improve cooling.
Most notably, the hybrid design increases airflow, allowing the foams to breathe better. Beyond that, while there is a 5.0” comfort foam layer, only 2.0” are memory foam.
Poly foams breathe better than memory foam, so that’s another cooling advantage. Finally, the 2.0” memory foam layer is infused with copper, an additive that better resists heat retention.
These design factors work together to keep heat retention well managed.
Heat Dissipation Over Time
Looking at our objective data, we measured a maximum surface level temperature of 89.3° F. This is 0.3° cooler than the average max temp (based on all of our tests to date). Heat dissipation on the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper was good, but not amazing.

From minutes 0 to 1 we saw a temperature reduction of 2.9° F. This is notably worse than the average 0 to 1-minute reduction of 3.8°.
Despite a less-than-amazing heat dissipation curve, the mattress felt comfortable cooling during our tests. Overall, I am pleased with the cooling performance.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has a minimal to moderate level of sinkage.
Sinkage Depth
1.99″
Sinkage Feel
Minimal
In our tests, we measured 1.99” of pressure point sinkage. This is less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.17” (based on all of our tests to date).
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

At 1.99” the Nectar technically falls into our “minimal” sinkage classification, however, only by 0.01”. In any case, at essentially 2” of sinkage the Nectar Hybrid Premier has a more typical memory foam feel.
It’s got a higher level of hug around the body and a more exacting contour. At least that’s the case with the topmost 2.0” layer of memory foam.
However, due to the level of support, pushback, and transitional foams, the mattress creates a more restrained level of sinkage and contour.
This gives the mattress a more balanced feel. As a result, sleepers won’t feel overly enveloped by the foams.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has a moderate level of motion transfer. In our test, we measured a total acceleration range of 10.04 m/s². This is higher than the average motion transfer of 8.49 m/s².
Despite the thick 5.0” comfort layer (and 2.0” of memory foam layer on top) the mattress still has more motion transfer than is ideal.
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
The pocketed coil base creates a good level of bounce, which is nice for ease of movement and sex, but not so nice for motion. While the total motion peaks aren’t great the motion duration is quite reasonable.
Max. Acceleration
3.82 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-6.22 m/s²
Accel. Range
10.04 m/s²
Looking at our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we see the highest motion peaks from 0.00 to 0.21 seconds. After which, motion drops significantly.

By 0.63 seconds motion has returned to near zero levels. Mattresses with the lowest motion transfer are able to fully dissipate all significant motion within 0.3 seconds. The Hybrid Premier Copper isn’t quite to that level, but it’s not far off.
The worst of the motion expired by 0.21 seconds. All that said, I am mostly happy with the level of motion transfer.
I could see more sensitive sleepers still feeling disturbed by this level of motion. However, for many, the highest motion is dissipated quickly enough that it should be a non-issue.
Response Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has a very fast response time. In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.3 seconds and a fully recovered time of 0.7 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.7 sec.
Both of these are notably faster than the average. Based on all of our tests to date we have seen an average mostly recovered time of 0.4 seconds and an average fully recovered response time of 0.9 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Despite the use of memory foam, the Nectar Hybrid Premier is able to bounce back to shape extremely fast.
Using poly foam transitional layers, as opposed to a thicker memory foam layer, in addition to the layer of coils, helps to increase response speed. Both work together to help deliver a faster response and recovery time.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has a moderate level of bounce. In our tests, we measured 9.30” of total bounce height.
This is slightly less bounce than the average of 9.66” (based on all of our tests to date).
Max. Depth
5.66″
Max. Rebound
3.64″
Total Bounce
9.30″
Typically, I like to see 8-12” of total bounce. It’s enough to facilitate easy movement and improve sex, without being so high as to create a trampoline effect.
Certainly, this level of bounce (especially coupled with a thin knit cover) is creating more motion transfer.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Despite the higher levels of motion transfer, the bounce does help to make it easier to move around on the mattress.
At 9.30” it’s in the sweet spot that I like to see for the bounce. All things considered, I don’t have any major concerns about the bounce height.
Edge Support Test
Both sitting and lying edge support on the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper mattress are excellent. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a total sinkage depth of 3.75”. This is excellent.
Max Sinkage
3.75″
Lying Support
Outstanding
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Based on all of our tests to date, we have seen an average sitting sinkage depth of 4.10”. As a result, Nectar’s Hybrid Premier Copper is notably better.
Any sitting compression of 4.0” or less I consider to be excellent. Nectar passes that mark. When sitting directly on the edge of the mattress I feel well supported. While the top 5.0” of comfort foam does compress down, you still get strong pushback and robust support.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

Lying edge support was equally as impressive. I felt exceptionally well supported even when lying directly on the edge of the mattress.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Support was fantastic in all sleeping positions. The firmness of the mattress, combined with the solid material choices and layer design, creates an environment for exceptionally good edge support.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.3 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 9.1 | Excellent |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
This is an excellent score. The Premier Copper has a good level of bounce, which is great for active and engaging sex. It also has reasonably good edge performance.

These two factors alone make up 80% of the sex score and are critically important. Following bounce and edge support, we also have noise, pressure relief, and cooling.
This mattress is low noise, has good cooling, and good pressure relief. Overall, for being a memory foam hybrid, I was very pleased with the performance in this category.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has excellent pressure relief. I found the feel to be quite restrained, which is atypical for many memory foam mattresses.
Comfort Layer
5.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
Memory foam as a material type often creates an excessive hug and overly dramatic contour around the body.
While the top 2.0” of memory foam is indeed aiming to create that feel, when it’s coupled with more balanced poly foam and coils, as it is here, the total feel is far more balanced. Sinkage is more minimal and I don’t feel excessively hugged by the mattress.

In general, I like this more balanced approach to pressure relief as it is more suitable for a wider range of body types and sleeper preferences.
Those who like memory foam, especially the feel of Tempurpedic, will love this type of pressure relief.
However, sleepers who prefer a more traditional, pillow top, quilted, or euro-style cover may find that it feels too firm in the top layers.
Off-Gassing Test
The Hybrid Premier Copper had a moderate smell right out of the box. The smell lasted for 2 days before fully dissipating.
Initial Smell Strength
Moderate
Off-Gassing Period
2 days
Compared to the average, the Premier Copper smell wasn’t quite as strong right out of the box and also off-gassed a little faster. If you’re especially sensitive to smells, the Premier Copper may have an advantage over the competition here.
To help the mattress off-gas even faster, consider unboxing the mattress and putting it in a well-ventilated room without any bedding. Increasing airflow will ultimately help the mattress off-gas faster.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | China |
Nectar has a good company score. They offer an extended 365-night trial period with a lifetime warranty.
Shipping is free and returns are free as well. Overall, Nectar has a history of positive company policies, terms, and conditions.
Comparing all mattresses tested to date, this trial is 48% shorter and it is part of the 25% of mattresses that include lifetime warranties. The average of the other 75% is 13 years.
How firm is Hybrid Premier Copper?
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has a medium firmness of 6.5 out of 10 (on the firmness scale).

This firmness is right in the middle of the scale and a good choice for a wide range of sleepers. It is firm enough to provide sufficient support for heavier sleepers, but not so firm that lightweight sleepers will find it to be too firm.
Support & Sleeping Positions
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper has excellent support. In our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
When we consider the design and material choices for the mattress I am exceedingly impressed.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
We have 5.0” of comfort foam, creating ample pressure relief and transitional support. In addition, we have 9.0” of support materials (8” pocketed coils and 1” support foam).
The support and comfort layers work together to great effect, delivering excellent support for all body types and sleeping positions. I don’t foresee any support issues for any sleepers or body weights up to 300 pounds.
Design
The design of the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper is a blend of comfort foam and support coils. This mattress has a high 14″ profile, with a 5″ comfort layer.

Firmness is a 6.5 out of 10, which puts it right in the middle for optimal firmness for a wide range of sleepers.

Now let’s take an inside look at the materials making up the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper mattress.
Materials
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper is a 14″ memory foam hybrid. It uses 5 different layers to make up the total thickness of this mattress. From top to bottom, here are the layers of this mattress:
- 2.0″ memory foam
- 2.0″ poly foam
- 1.0″ poly foam
- 8.0″ pocketed coils
- 1.0″ support foam

The Cover
The Hybrid Premier Copper has a thin cover with embedded copper fibers. Copper here helps with cooling as well as providing an antimicrobial finish.

Aesthetically, the cover is white with orange accents. There is an orange trim around the top edge of the mattress and dark grey sides.
The sides also have handles to make it easier to move the mattress as needed.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer includes three layers of material. At the top, there is a 2.0″ layer of memory foam for deeper hug and contour. The second layer is a 2.0″ poly foam designed for spinal alignment and improved pressure relief.

The third part of the comfort layer is a 1.0″ transitional layer. This layer has a higher density and is designed to ease the transition of pressure from the comfort layer into the support layer below.
The Support Layer
The support system of the Premier Copper is an 8.0″ layer of pocketed coils. These coils are individually encased to move independently of each other, limiting motion transfer, and improving pressure relief.

Product Evolution
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper was initially launched in August 2022. Being new to the market, there have been no changes to the mattress since its launch.
As this mattress develops and changes over time, we’ll be sure to come back and update this section accordingly to document those changes.
Hybrid Premier Copper vs. Hybrid Original
Here is a quick comparison of the Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper vs. Nectar Hybrid Original. Although they have a similar firmness, these mattresses are far from twins on the inside.

Hybrid Premier Copper
Type: Hybrid |
Thickness: 14″ |
Firmness: 6.5 out of 10 |
Price: $1,799 (queen) |
Overall Score: 8.87 |

Original Hybrid
Type: Hybrid |
Thickness: 12″ |
Firmness: 6.5 out of 10 |
Price: $999 (queen) |
Overall Score: 7.87 |
The Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper is 2.0″ thicker, which means it has 2.0″ more comfort material than the Original Hybrid. This extra thickness ultimately gives the Premier Copper better pressure relief and a higher overall score.
The Nectar Hybrid Original is a nice option if you want a lower price tag and a thinner profile (12″ instead of 14″). It has slightly less bounce than the Hybrid Premier Copper, but also a significantly slower response time.
