How is the Logan & Cove Different?
The Logan & Cove is a very nice hybrid mattress. It has some stand-out features, depending on what exactly you’re looking for. Some of the top features include.
#1. Luxury Pillow Top
The Logan & Cove mattress comes with a plush pillow top cover that gives this mattress extra softness, hug, and contour. If you like your mattress cradling you a bit more, this mattress could be a good pick.

#2. Two Firmness Levels
This mattress is available in two different firmnesses—medium plush and luxury firm. I found the firmness to be softer than what Logan & Cove perceived of their mattress, but overall having two options increases the chance that they will have the right option for you.
#3. Long Trial + Warranty
The Logan & Cove comes with a 120-night trial period as well as a 15-year warranty. Both of these terms help you to buy with confidence through your purchase and for an extended period of time with you owning the mattress.
Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Logan & Cove was a bit of a mixed bag. It’s certainly not bad, but also not amazing. Hybrid mattresses (those with foam + coils) generally perform better than average when it comes to cooling.
Baseline Temp.
77.1° F
Max Temp.
88.5° F
Ending Temp.
81.6° F
However, the Logan & Cove has a 6.0” thick comfort layer of all foam. While this thick comfort layer improves pressure relief, contour, and comfort, I also think it’s having a negative impact when it comes to cooling. During our cooling tests, I felt a slight to moderate level of heat retention.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The heat was primarily isolated to my back and midsection. Looking at the heat dissipation curve, we see slightly better than average performance from the 0 to 1-minute mark.
From 0 to 1 minute there’s a decline of 4.1 °F. On average, across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, we see a decline of 3.9 °F over the 0 to 1 minute period.
The heat continued to gradually step down from 2 to 5 minutes. We measured notable declines at each 1 minute measurement period. While most of the heat was dissipated by the 1-minute mark (4.1 °F), we did still see 2.8 °F of heat decline from 2-5 minutes.
Heat Dissipation Over Time
Time Elapsed | Temperature |
---|---|
1 minute | 84.4° |
2 minutes | 82.9° |
3 minutes | 82.5° |
4 minutes | 82.1° |
5 minutes | 81.6° |
The heat dissipation curve is good, but not great. The Logan & Cove seems to hold onto heat a little more compared to many other mattresses we’ve tested to date.
If you are a warm sleeper, you may not be impressed with the cooling performance. However, those who don’t sleep particularly hot should find the cooling performance to be good enough.
Sinkage Test
The Logan & Cove mattress has a moderate level of sinkage depth. In our tests, we measured 2.46” of sinkage.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

This is just a bit more than the average sinkage depth across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, which is 2.21”.
The pillow top and thick 6.0” all-foam comfort layer create a significant contour and hug around the body. The deeper than average sinkage allows sleepers to experience better pressure relief with a more exacting contour around the body.
Motion Transfer Test
Motion transfer on the Logan & Cove mattress is very low. In our tests, we measured 5.99 m/s² of acceleration in our motion transfer test.
Max. Acceleration
3.48 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-2.51 m/s²
Accel. Range
5.99 m/s²
On average, across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, we see 5.86 m/s² of acceleration. As a result, Logan & Cove is slightly worse than average when it comes to motion transfer, but just slightly.
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
Our motion transfer chart visualized data from our accelerometer test. On the chart, we can see that there is a high level of motion up until 0.28 seconds, with a moderate acceleration persisting until 0.77 seconds.

For most sleepers, this level of motion transfer should be low enough to not be problematic.
Response Test
Response time on the Logan & Cove mattress is moderately quick, but not fast. In our tests, we measured 0.5 seconds for the materials to mostly recover and 1.3 seconds for a full material recovery.
Mostly Recovered
0.5 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.3 sec.
This is similar to the average compared to all mattresses we’ve tested to date.
On average, we see mattresses mostly recovered by 0.56 seconds and fully recovered by 0.94 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Given the sinkage depth, thick comfort layer, and layers of memory foam, I honestly expected the response to be quite a bit slower. A faster-responding mattress helps ensure sleepers never feel stuck and helps the mattress adapt more quickly to changes in position.
There are certainly mattresses with a faster response time, but for most sleepers, the response speed here is plenty fast enough to be a non-issue.
Bounce Test
The Logan & Cove mattress has a high level of bounce. In our tests, we measured 10.07” of total bounce.
Max. Depth
5.74″
Max. Rebound
4.33″
Total Bounce
10.07″
This is slightly more than the average bounce height across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, which is 9.33”. Despite the 6.0” thick foam comfort layer, the hybrid design still provides plenty of bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

Moderate and higher levels of bounce help provide a more traditional feel, make the mattress easier to move around on, and improve sex.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
In my view, 8-12” of bounce is the sweet spot between providing enough to experience the benefits of bounce, without creating too much and creating extra motion transfer. Logan & Cove’s 10.07” of bounce is right in the middle of the ideal bounce target.
Edge Support Test
Edge support on the Logan & Cove is a mixed bag. Edge support while sitting is okay, but not great. However, edge support while lying is outstandingly good. First up, let’s talk about sitting edge support.
Max Sinkage
5.75″
Lying Support
Outstanding
While sitting directly on the edge of the mattress we measured 5.75” of compression. This is a considerable sinkage depth and encompasses essentially the entire comfort layer (which is 6.0” thick).
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

In general, I want to see 4.0” of sinkage or less while sitting on the edge of the mattress. On average, across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, we see 4.68” of sitting edge sinkage.
The Logan & Cove’s thicker mattress profile may account for some of its excess sitting edge support, but not all of it. While the absolute sinkage depth of sitting edge support is deeper than I’d like to see, it does still feel reasonably well supported.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

While sitting edge support wasn’t amazing, edge support while lying directly on the edge was. I felt exceptionally well supported in every sleeping position while lying directly on the edge.
The Logan & Cove uses a 3.0” wide foam edge support layer, which encases the perimeter of the mattress. This edge support system seems to be far more effective for lying than for sitting.
Sex Test
To score sex performance we look at a number of different factors that all play a role in quality sex. Three of the most important factors include:
Bounce
10
Edge Support
8.6
Noise
8.0
In addition to the factors above, there are a few other things to consider as well, like pressure relief and cooling.
Here’s a look at our complete sex formula:
Sex Score Formula = (Bounce * 0.6) + (Edge Support * 0.2) + (Noise * 0.1) + (Pressure Relief * 0.05) + (Cooling * 0.05)
We use the following scores, plugged into the formula, to derive a sex score for each mattress.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.8 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 6.6 | Mediocre |
Noise | 5% | 6.0 | High |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
For the Logan & Cove mattress, these individual factors give it a good score.
This mattress definitely struggled in a number of areas, but it also excelled in one of the most important areas. Let’s break down this performance.
First off, bounce. The Logan & Cove has good bounce, which really helps its sex score as higher bounce is a plus for better sex.
Pressure relief and cooling were also suitable categories and not really an issue.

Edge support and noise were pretty big struggles. Edge support is pretty non-existent, which can be an issue is edges are important to you during sex.
Also if discretion is important, the Logan & Cove might not be for you. Although it’s covered with the foam layers, the pocketed support coils are still louder than 100% foam.
Pressure Relief Test
While the Logan & Cove mattress lacks in some areas, pressure relief is not one of them. I found pressure relief to be excellent across our range of tests.
Comfort Layer
6.0″
Support Layer
8.0″
The mattress does a fantastic job providing plenty of sinkage, contour, and hug across the entire body.
The combination of pillow foam, memory foam, and pillowtop provides plenty of comfort for sleepers in all positions.
The Logan & Cove has 6.0” of comfort material in a 14.0” profile. This material design creates ample pressure relief for all body types.
Off-Gassing Test
Immediately after unboxing, there was a strong off-gassing smell coming from the Logan & Cove. The smell persisted for 6 days, before fully dissipating.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
6 days
Like most poly foam and memory foam mattresses, the Logan & Cove has a fairly strong smell. However, neither the strength nor the duration was abnormal.

On average, we see mattresses have a strong smell for 2.80 days.
The Logan & Cove’s 6 days is a bit beyond that, but nothing crazy. Once the off-gassing period has been completed the Logan & Cove doesn’t have a strong smell.
Company
The Logan & Cove mattress is manufactured by GoodMorning.com, the same company that manufactures the Novosbed and Full Moon, among others.
As a company, GoodMorning.com offers a 120-night trial period and a 15-year warranty.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 120 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 8.0 | 15 years |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Country of Origin | 0% | Canada |
The head office for the company is located in Canada, but all of their mattresses sold for the US are also manufactured in the US, at a factory located in Pennsylvania.
Once you’ve received your order, the Logan & Cove mattress has a 30-night break-in period. This period lasts for the first 30 nights of owning the mattress and you cannot initiate a return within this window.

Once that time period passes, if you decide you still don’t love the mattress, you may request a full refund. This is pretty common in the mattress industry and is designed to give your body time to adjust to the new mattress.
How firm is the Logan & Cove?
The Logan & Cove mattress is available in two firmness levels—Medium Plush and Luxury Firm.
We personally tested the Medium Firm and I found the firmness to be around a 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

I would say that the Medium Plush would be a bit softer, around a 4 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

I’m also going to note here that these assessments of firmness are softer than how Logan & Cove perceives the firmness of their mattresses.
The firmness ratings listed above are determined based on my subjective opinion of the mattress compared to the over 190 other mattresses I’ve personally tested to date.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Logan & Cove mattress was excellent. Throughout our tests, and in all sleeping positions, I felt well supported. Looking at the design and material construction of the Love & Cove it checks all of my boxes.
It has a thick 6.0” comfort layer and 14.0” total thickness. While a thicker profile doesn’t necessarily mean better support, in the case of Logan & Cove we have robust and quality materials.
These performance materials are able to deliver support for all body types and body weights. Based on our tests and the material design I do not foresee any significant support issues for the vast majority of sleepers.
Here is a quick table that outlines who would be best suited for each firmness of the Logan & Cove mattress.
Medium Plush
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-225 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
225-300 lbs. | No | Maybe | No |
Luxury Firm
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
It feels important to note here that we perceived the firmness of these mattresses to be quite a bit softer than what Logan & Cove rates the firmness at.
Our firmness assessment is based on a subjective feeling when I lie on the mattress. This scale was derived from personally testing over 190 mattresses.
Design
The Logan & Cove mattress is a hybrid mattress that uses layers of poly foam as well as pocketed coils for support and comfort. It has a thicker profile than many other mattresses we’ve tested also has a thicker comfort layer.
Type
Hybrid
Thickness
14″
Firmness
4 & 5.5
Materials
Below the cover, there are five distinct layers on the Logan & Cove.
- 2.0″ pillow top
- 1.0″ gel poly foam
- 1.0″ poly foam
- 2.0″ poly foam
- 8.0″ pocketed coils

The top three layers are primarily comfort foams and makeup 4″ of the mattress. Comfort foams include a 2.0″ pillow top, 1″ of gel poly foam for good cooling, and another 1″ of standard poly foam.
Below these layers is a 2.0″ transitional layer of poly foam. This layer is designed to help ease pressure from the comfort layers into the support coils.
The pocketed coils are at the base of the mattress and serve as the support for the layers above.
The Cover
The cover of the Logan & Cove mattress is a Tencel with a silk-blend fill. It is a pillow-top cover and has a high loft, which contributes to the overall sinkage and amount of contour from this mattress.

On the sides of the mattress, there is a thicker fabric that provides reinforced durability as well as carrying handles.

The Comfort Layer
Thickness: 6.0″
The comfort layer on the Logan & Cove mattress is technically four layers. On the top, we have the plush 2″ pillowtop cover.
Below the cover is a 1″ layer of gel poly foam and a 1″ layer of standard poly foam.

The bottom layer of foam is technically a part of the comfort layer, but I see this material more as a transitional foam. It is a 2″ slab of poly foam that helps to ease the transition between the comfort layer and the support coils below.
The Support Layer
Thickness: 8.0″
The support layer of the Logan & Cove mattress is 8″ thick and made of pocketed coils. These coils are encased in a thin fabric and can move independently of each other. This is good for better pressure relief and limited motion transfer.

Product Evolution
The Logan & Cove mattress was first introduced in 2018 and has had minimal changes since then.
One minor change was to the Tencel cover, which was originally a fiber cover made of wood-derived materials.
Other layers within the mattress have remained consistent.

Twin: $799
Twin XL: $899
Full: $949
Queen: $1,099

Both Logan & Cove and Novosbed are owned by the same parent company, GoodMorning.com, as well as the Full Moon mattress, among others.
The answer may depend on how much you weigh as well as how sensitive you are to heat retention issues. There is 6″ of foam layers above the pocketed coils on this mattress. Coils generally promote heat dissipation and foam can prohibit it.
This mattress doesn’t necessarily require a boxspring, but you do need to make sure your frame is supportive. Metal bed frames with thin wire grids are insufficient. If you find that your existing bed frame is not supportive, you can put a sheet of plywood, pegboard, or a bunkie board between the bed frame and the mattress.
