Our Verdict
In today’s comparison of DreamCloud vs. Nectar, we’re diving into the details of these two sister brands. DreamCloud and Nectar are owned by the same parent company, Resident, so there’s quite a bit of overlap in materials and company policy, but these mattresses are not identical.
Overall, I think the Nectar mattresses have a better build and are of higher quality, even though the price point is lower for some models. Nectar has excellent pressure relief and great cooling.
The DreamCloud has coils that generate more bounce and better edge support, but cooling and pressure relief just don’t feel as good as the Nectar mattresses.
For most sleepers, I find the Nectar mattresses are simply the better choice when compared to DreamCloud.

Which Mattresses Are We Comparing?
DreamCloud offers only three mattresses, all of which are hybrids.
- DreamCloud Original (DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid)
- DreamCloud Premier
- DreamCloud Premier Rest
Nectar, on the other hand, offers a mix of hybrids and foam mattresses.
For the sake of simplicity, only 3 Nectar mattresses are featured in this side-by-side comparison.
All three of these Nectar mattresses in this comparison are all foam, unlike DreamCloud.
The Nectar Hybrid, Nectar Premier Hybrid, and Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid are all hybrid variants of their all-foam counterparts. We’re focusing on the all foam Nectar versions, as they tend to be more popular.
Cooling Test
Comparing cooling, Nectar had better performance than DreamCloud averaging a brand cooling score of 8.83. DreamCloud’s brand cooling score is only 7.33.
Cooling Test | Score | Baseline | Max Temp | Ending Temp |
---|---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 8.0 | 79.7° | 89.5° | 82.0° |
Dreamcloud Premier | 7.0 | 78.5° | 92.0° | 83.9° |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 7.0 | 79.4° | 91.7° | 84.5° |

Nectar Premier | 9.0 | 80.7° | 90.5° | 86.6° |
Nectar Premier Copper | 9.0 | 84.4° | 90.6° | 87.2° |
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (after 5 minutes) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Among these two brands, the mattresses with the best cooling performance are the Nectar Premier and Nectar Premier Copper.
The best-performing mattress is a tie between the Nectar Premier Copper and the Nectar Premier. Both of these mattresses had fantastic heat dissipation and restricted max cooling temp.

The DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and Nectar Original came in second place with a cooling score of 8.0. These are good, but not great for cooling.
Lowest on the totem pole are the DreamCloud Premier Rest and DreamCloud Premier. Both of these mattresses struggled a bit with heat retention and just didn’t feel as cool, subjectively speaking.
Below, you can watch a video of how the heat dissipates on each mattress during our cooling test. For this test, we lie on the mattress for 15 minutes, get off the mattress, and then take periodic surface-level temperature measurements.

DreamCloud Premier Rest

Nectar Premier Copper

The majority of these mattresses will have a similar moderate feel, including the DreamCloud Premier Rest, Nectar Original, Nectar Premier, and Nectar Premier Copper.
The two standouts were both from DreamCloud, with the DreamCloud Premier having a more “floating” on top of the mattress feel and minimal sinkage, as opposed to sinking down “in” the mattress.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the DreamCloud Original with far deeper sinkage, providing the greatest amount of contour and hug.
Motion Transfer Test
Both DreamCloud and Nectar had fantastic performance regarding motion transfer, however, Nectar was technically better, with perfect 10s across the board.
Motion Transfer Test | Score | Acc. Range |
---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 9.7 | 5.60 m/s² |
Dreamcloud Premier | 9.7 | 5.67 m/s² |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 10 | 2.62 m/s² |
Nectar Original | 10 | 2.67 m/s² |
Nectar Premier | 10 | 2.80 m/s² |
Nectar Premier Copper | 10 | 1.88 m/s² |
Overall, both Nectar and DreamCloud have low motion transfer levels. Nectar mattresses are foam-based and DreamCloud mattresses are foam + coil hybrids, but the motion transfer levels are all pretty low.
The average level of motion transfer across all mattresses tested to date is 8.64 m/s².
The level of motion transfer on each mattress is also documented in the videos below.

DreamCloud Premier Rest
Nectar Premier Copper
For the absolute lowest levels, Nectar is the winner. Their levels range from 1.88 m/s² on the Nectar Premier Copper up to 2.80 m/s² on the Nectar Premier. The original Nectar mattress falls between these two at 2.67 m/s².
The Nectar Premier Copper is incredibly low. In fact, it is the 2nd lowest motion transfer of all mattresses we’ve tested to date.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest has low levels that essentially match the levels on the Nectar original (2.62 m/s² on the Premier Rest).
That said, the levels of the original DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier are about twice the level of Nectar. The Original DreamCloud comes in at 5.60 m/s² and the DreamCloud Premier is 5.67 m/s².
Response Test
The response time of DreamCloud vs. Nectar is pretty similar on some mattresses and vastly different on other mattresses.
Response Test | Score | Mostly Recovered | Completely Recovered |
---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 5.0 | 5.0 seconds | 6.0 seconds |
Dreamcloud Premier | 5.9 | 0.9 seconds | 1.5 seconds |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 5.0 | 3.7 seconds | 4.5 seconds |
Nectar Original | 5.0 | 3.0 seconds | 5.0 seconds |
Nectar Premier | 8.7 | 0.4 seconds | 0.8 seconds |
Nectar Premier Copper | 9.4 | 0.3 seconds | 0.5 seconds |
If you’re looking for a fast response time, the Nectar Premier and Nectar Premier Copper take the lead. Both of these mattresses completely recovered from our test drop within less than 1 second, the Nectar Premier slightly outperforming the Premier Copper.
Across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, the average speed of material response time is 0.4 seconds to be mostly recovered and 0.9 seconds to be fully recovered.
The DreamCloud Premier is slower than average, but not the slowest—mostly recovered by 0.9 seconds and fully recovered by 1.5 seconds.
The slowest mattresses in this matchup include the following:
All of these mattresses took between 4.5 and 6.0 seconds to be completely recovered.
The level of responsiveness for each mattress is documented in the videos below.

Bounce Test
While bounce is a more preferential factor, Nectar has lower levels of bounce than all DreamCloud mattresses, with the DreamCloud Premier Rest having similarly low levels.
Bounce Test | Bounce Feel | Bounce Height |
---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | High | 11.20″ |
Dreamcloud Premier | High | 11.03″ |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | Low | 7.88″ |
Nectar Original | Very Low | 4.76″ |
Nectar Premier | Low | 7.10″ |
Nectar Premier Copper | Very Low | 5.14″ |
The average level of bounce is 9.71″, comparing all mattresses tested to date.
The mattress with the least amount of bounce is the Nectar Original at 4.76″, closely followed by the Nectar Premier Copper (5.14″ of bounce).
The Nectar Premier and DreamCloud Premier Rest also have less bounce than average, with 7″ of bounce in our tests.
The DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and DreamCloud Premier both have significantly more bounce than average, over 11″, the highest levels within this comparison.
The level of bounce for each mattress is documented in the videos below.

The Nectar mattresses are 100% foam and foam naturally absorbs bounce. DreamCloud mattresses, on the other hand, use a combination of foam and coils and, by design, coils typically create more bounce.
- If you want more bounce, consider the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid or DreamCloud Premier.
- If you want less bounce, consider the Nectar Original or Nectar Premier Copper.
Edge Support Test
When considering edge support, a coil-based mattress is usually going to perform better than most foam-based mattresses. And this is consistent with the results we saw between DreamCloud and Nectar.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding bounce levels.
Edge Support Test | Score | Sitting Sinkage | Lying Support |
---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 8.3 | 5.00″ | Excellent |
Dreamcloud Premier | 9.1 | 3.75″ | Excellent |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 6.5 | 5.50″ | Mediocre |
Nectar Original | 6.0 | 6.25″ | Mediocre |
Nectar Premier | 6.4 | 7.25″ | Good |
Nectar Premier Copper | 7.5 | 6.25″ | Excellent |
It’s important to note here that both the DreamCloud and Nectar have more sinkage at the edge than we typically see. The average score for edge support is 8.56, with a max sitting sinkage of 4.07″.
The DreamCloud Premier is the only mattress in this comparison that performs better than the average.
The level of edge support is documented in the images below.
DreamCloud Original

Nectar Original

DreamCloud Premier

Nectar Premier

DreamCloud Premier Rest

Nectar Premier Copper

The sitting support between DreamCloud and the original Nectar shows DreamClould to be the clear winner. Nectar sinks down 6.25″ at the edge and DreamCloud only sinks 5.0″.
The coils in the DreamCloud are likely a big contributing factor towards the success of the DreamCloud since they provide extra support throughout the mattress.

Sitting and lying on the DreamCloud Premier and Premier Rest was equally as good. The Premier Rest has a 2.0″ pillow top so we noticed a bit more sinkage on that mattress, but the lying support was still good.
The Nectar Premier and Premier Copper are better than the original Nectar. There’s still a bit more sinkage than average, but lying support is good and I did not feel like I was going to roll out of the bed.
If you like the feel of Nectar, but are interested in better edge support, consider the hybrid variations of the Nectar lineup, including the Original Hybrid, Premier Hybrid, and Premier Copper Hybrid.
Sex Test
This part of our scoring looks at the expected sex performance based on a number of performance factors.
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score and from these factors, we can generate a sex score for each mattress.
The table below shows how sex performance varies between DreamCloud and Nectar mattresses.
Sex Test | Sex Score | Bounce | Edge Support | Noise | Pressure Relief | Cooling |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 9.0 | 9.5 | 7.5 | 10 | 8.0 | 8.0 |
Dreamcloud Premier | 9.2 | 9.4 | 9.1 | 10 | 8.0 | 7.0 |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 7.4 | 7.4 | 6.9 | 10 | 8.0 | 7.0 |
Nectar Original | 6.0 | 5.4 | 5.9 | 10 | 9.0 | 8.0 |
Nectar Premier | 6.8 | 6.9 | 4.7 | 10 | 9.0 | 9.0 |
Nectar Premier Copper | 6.3 | 5.7 | 5.9 | 10 | 9.0 | 9.0 |
When we’re looking at the best mattress for sex, it’s hard to beat the coil-based design of DreamCloud. Among the models in this comparison, the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and DreamCloud Premier were the top performers. They have excellent bounce and stronger edge support as well.
Less impressively, we’ve got the Nectar Original and Nectar Premier Copper. These two models rank lowest in sex performance and a lot of that is because of the lower levels of bounce and poorer edge support.
The other mattresses fall somewhere in the middle with moderate bounce and moderate levels of edge support.
Pressure Relief Test
Pressure relief is an important part of how a sleeper engages with a mattress. Comparing DreamCloud and Nectar, we found Nectar pressure relief to be consistently better.
Pressure Relief Test | Score | Comfort Layer | Support Layer |
---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 8.0 | 5.5″ | 8.5″ |
Dreamcloud Premier | 8.0 | 5.5″ | 8.5″ |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 8.0 | 6.5″ | 9.5″ |
Nectar Original | 9.0 | 5.0″ | 7.0″ |
Nectar Premier | 9.0 | 6.0″ | 7.0″ |
Nectar Premier Copper | 9.0 | 5.0″ | 9.0″ |
It’s important to note here that more comfort material does not always equal better pressure relief. Just as a thicker mattress does not mean it has more support either.
Good pressure relief comes from quality comfort foam, transitional material, and a quality support layer. It is how these layers work together that creates the best pressure relief on any mattress.

Nectar has between 5-6″ of comfort material, but it could be argued that some of these materials are actually transitional materials and not solely comfort.
When lying on Nectar I felt a good balance of sinkage, support, and pressure relief. It’s not to say that DreamCloud is bad, because it’s really not. But compared to Nectar, I found the DreamCloud line to be a little flat and just not supportive enough in some areas.
Off-Gassing Test
Between DreamCloud and Nectar, DreamCloud had a bit better off-gassing performance. You can see the full results in the table below.
Not only is the smell less overwhelming right out of the box, but it also dissipates significantly faster on the DreamCloud than it does on the Nectar.
Off-Gassing Test | Score | Initial Smell | Smell Duration |
---|---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 9.7 | Minimal | 1 day |
Dreamcloud Premier | 9.7 | Minimal | 1 day |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 9.7 | Minimal | 1 day |
Nectar Original | 8.9 | Moderate | 4 days |
Nectar Premier | 8.9 | Strong | 4 days |
Nectar Premier Copper | 9.2 | Strong | 3 days |
Of course, it’s also important to note that off-gassing is really only an issue for the first couple of days. Nectar takes slightly longer to off-gas, but even at its worst (4 days), it is still faster than average (5-day average off-gassing period).
Company
Since DreamCloud and Nectar are owned by the same parent company. As such, their policies are identical. You can see the full breakdown below.
Company | Dreamcloud | Nectar |
---|---|---|
Score | 9 | 9 |
Trial Period | 365 nights | 365 nights |
Warranty | Lifetime | Lifetime |
Shipping | $0 | $0 |
Returns | $0 | $0 |
Trust | Good | Good |
Country of Origin | USA | China |
The average trial length is 164 nights, which is much shorter than both DreamCloud‘s and Nectar‘s trial.
All of these mattresses have the same 365-night trial period, a lifetime warranty, and free shipping / returns. There is a live chat on their website for product questions or warranty info and it’s easy to talk to a representative.
For reference, only 25% of the mattresses we’ve tested (over 200+ tested to date) have lifetime warranties. The average of the other 73% is 14 years.

All things considered, these mattresses have near-perfect scores for what we’re looking for in a mattress company.
Firmness
The range of firmnesses between DreamCloud and Nectar is pretty narrow and really only offers medium firmness options.
Check the table below to see the details of each mattress.
Firmness | Rating | Feel |
---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | 7 | Slightly Firm |
Dreamcloud Premier | 7 | Slightly Firm |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | 6 | Medium-Firm |
Nectar Hybrid | 6.5 | Medium-Firm |
Nectar Hybrid Premier | 6 | Medium-Firm |
Nectar Hybrid Premier Copper | 6.5 | Medium-Firm |
Nectar Original | 6.5 | Medium-Firm |
Nectar Premier | 5.5 | Medium |
Nectar Premier Copper | 5 | Medium |
Of the two brands, Nectar offers a slightly wider range with firmness levels between 5 and 6.5. On the other side, DreamCloud has mattresses between the 6 and 7 firmness range.
The Nectar Premier Copper is your best choice if you prefer a softer mattress, whereas the DreamCloud Original and Premier are the better options if you want something more firm.
All of the rest of the mattresses fall in the middle providing a medium-firm feel.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Both Nectar and DreamCloud offer supportive mattresses with medium feels, making them suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
If you’re a lightweight or side sleeper, you may prefer the softer feel of the Nectar Premier and Nectar Premier Copper. Their 5 and 5.5 firmness are not what I would consider “soft” but it is in the softer range of the firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
For heavier-weighted sleepers or those or sleep on their back or stomach, a firmer feel is often beneficial. The DreamCloud Original and DreamCloud Premier both offer a slightly-firm feel, which offers more support for these types of sleepers.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest, Nectar Original, Nectar Original Hybrid, Nectar Premier Hybrid, and Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid all offer a 6-6.5 out of 10 firmness. Most sleepers prefer this feel, making this a safe choice for the majority of people.
Not sure which firmness is right for you?
Use the table below to better determine the firmness range that may be best suited for you, based on your personal weight and preferred sleeping position.

Design
When we’re just looking at the design of the Nectar and DreamCloud mattresses, there is a notably different design approach between the two brands.
Design | Type | Mattress Thickness |
---|---|---|
Dreamcloud | Hybrid | 14.0″ |
Dreamcloud Premier | Hybrid | 14.0″ |
Dreamcloud Premier Rest | Hybrid | 16.0″ |
Nectar Original | Memory Foam | 12.0″ |
Nectar Premier | Memory Foam | 13.0″ |
Nectar Premier Copper | Memory Foam | 14.0″ |
In short, DreamCloud is a line of hybrid mattresses that use foam + coils. Nectar is 100% foam. Their profile height varies as well.
DreamCloud is generally higher-profile than Nectar with the exception of the Nectar Premier Copper, which is 14″, the same as two out of the three DreamCloud mattresses.
