Is The Leesa Mattress Toxic?

Derek Hales

Published

No, Leesa doesn’t use any toxic materials in its mattresses. The foam and other materials are CertiPUR-US-certified, meaning they contain no lead, mercury, or other harmful chemicals, such as:

  • Tris flame retardants
  • Heavy metals
  • Ozone depleters
  • Phthalates

Additionally, CertiPUR-US-certified mattresses have low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) levels, so they’re unlikely to affect indoor air quality and cause breathing problems.

Leesa mattresses also performed well in our off-gassing test. They all had a strong smell after unboxing (which is normal for a new mattress), but the odor dissipated within 2 and 6 days, depending on the model.
