Best For
- Fantastically priced. While this isn’t a perfect mattress, at this price it does a lot right
- Ultra-low motion transfer, 7th lowest motion transfer of any mattress we’ve tested
- Classic memory foam feel, high contour and deep hug
Considerations
- Very little bounce and slow response, which can make it difficult to move around on and make sex more difficult
- Edge support while lying leaves much to be desired
Our Verdict
The SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam mattress is a memory foam mattress with a medium firmness. The manufacturer calls this mattress flippable, but I found the materials to only be conducive to sleeping on one side (the soft / medium side).
In our performance tests, it had good cooling, moderate sinkage, extremely low motion transfer, very slow response time, very low bounce, fair sitting edge support (although poor lying support at the edge), mediocre performance for sex, good pressure relief, excellent off-gassing, and a good company score.
Is it the best quality mattress we’ve tested? Definitely not. But for the price, it’s still a pretty good value and may be a good option for tighter budgets, provided you like the feel of classic memory foam.

The Dreamy Memory Foam is a flippable mattress. Our tests are based on the medium / soft side of the mattress.
While the mattress technically can be flipped to a firm side, I would not recommend it. The firm side would have you sleeping directly on support foam without any comfort layer. This is a recipe for poor pressure relief and other problems.

How is SweetNight Dreamy Different?
The main way that the SweetNight Dreamy mattress helps to stand apart from its competition is the budget price.

Is this the best mattress you’ll ever sleep on? Probably not. However, at this price point, it’s still a reasonably good performer. So if you have a tighter budget this is worth considering, provided you really like the classic memory foam feel.
The queen size of the Dreamy Memory Foam is around $600.
If you’re looking for a memory foam mattress that won’t break the bank, the Memory Foam mattress is a solid pick.
Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam is good, but not great. During my tests, I felt a moderate level of heat retention around my entire body.
Heat wasn’t isolated to any one spot, but instead spread around everywhere that my body engaged with the mattress.
Baseline Temp.
81.6° F
Max Temp.
89.6° F
Ending Temp.
84.3° F
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
I would not say that the heat retention rose to the level of “hot”, but it was definitely “warm”. Looking at the material construction it makes sense. We have an all-foam mattress with 6.0” of comfort memory foam on top of the mattress.
Honestly, I’m surprised the heat retention wasn’t more dramatic than it was. In looking at our objective data, we saw a maximum temperature that was very slightly better than the average max temp (based on all of our tests to date) at 89.6°F (average is 89.8°).
Heat Dissipation Over Time
Time Elapsed | Temperature |
---|---|
1 minute | 86.0° |
2 minutes | 84.8° |
3 minutes | 84.4° |
4 minutes | 84.0° |
5 minutes | 84.3° |
From the 0 to 1-minute measurement period, we saw a drop from 89.6° to 86.0°, a decline of 3.6° (average is 3.9°).
While the drop from 0 to 1-minute was respectably good, the heat dissipation from minutes 2 to 5 left much to be desired. From minutes 2 to 5 we dropped from 84.8 to 84.3°, a reduction of only 0.5°.
This indicates that the mattress is holding on to more heat, which explains the subjective experience with heat retention around my body.
Looking at the mix of objective data, subjective experience, and material construction, I am confident in my view that the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam lacks something when it comes to cooling and heat retention.
If you are a naturally hot sleeper this is not an ideal mattress for you.
Sinkage Test
The SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam has a moderate level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured a total pressure point sinkage depth of 2.23”. This is exactly average compared to all of the mattresses we’ve tested to date.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

On average, we have also seen a sinkage depth of 2.23”. In my view, a sinkage depth in the 2.0-2.3” range is balanced enough to create plenty of pressure relief, while not being so deep as to create a new source of support, heat retention, or stuck-feeling issues.
No major complaints from my end when it comes to sinkage.
Motion Transfer Test
Motion transfer on the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam mattress was extremely low. In our tests, we measured just 2.20 m/s² of acceleration range.
This is significantly lower than the average motion transfer based on all of the mattresses we’ve tested to date.
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
On average, we have measured an acceleration range of 5.80 m/s², making the Dreamy Memory Foam 3.60 m/s² lower than the average.
Most 100% foam mattresses have a tremendous advantage when it comes to motion transfer. And this goes double for mattresses that use a thick and more classic feeling memory foam.
Max. Acceleration
1.30 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-0.90 m/s²
Accel. Range
2.20 m/s²
The memory foam top layers of the SweetNight mattress absorb a huge amount of energy, resulting in very little bounce (which we’ll cover in-depth below) and very little motion.
Looking at our motion transfer chart, we can see that the vast majority of energy is dissipated by 0.29 seconds.

A moderate level of motion persists up until 0.64 seconds, before returning to near-zero acceleration levels. The extremely low-motion transfer makes it a great choice for couples, especially those who may otherwise disturb each other during the night.
Response Test
The material response time on the Dreamy Memory Foam mattress was a bit of a mixed bag. To measure response time, we record two material response measurements.
The first is how long the material takes to mostly recover, and the second is how long the material takes to fully recover.
Mostly Recovered
0.8 sec.
Complete Recovery
2.1 sec.
In our experience, many mattress types are able to mostly recover fairly quickly, while a full material recovery can take longer. In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered material response time of 0.8 seconds and a full material recovery of 2.1 seconds. Both of these are notably slower than the average.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
On average, based on all of our tests to date, we have measured mostly recovered times of 0.54 seconds and full material recovery of 0.96 seconds.
While the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam is still fast enough with respect to the mostly recovered time to be considered “very fast”, the full material recovery is significantly slower than we like to see.
Our response score is based only on the mostly recovered measurement, as that is typically the more critical measurement to assess real-world sleeping performance.
However, I would feel remiss for not discussing the potential of this mattress to make sleepers feel more stuck. During our performance tests, I felt a notable level of difficulty in simply moving around on the mattress.

Every movement you make your energy is absorbed into the foams, which is great for motion transfer, but less great for ease of movement, getting on / off the mattress, and amorous activities.
The fastest responding mattresses are able to rebound back to shape in 0.2 seconds to mostly recover and 0.3 seconds to fully recover.
In the context of the fastest and average response speeds, the Dreamy Memory Foam mattress really looks to be trailing behind.
It uses a very classic memory foam feel with a slower response, more dramatic contour, and very little motion transfer. For those sleepers who like this feel, it can be a great fit.
However, the classic memory foam type feel can be very polarizing. In my experience, sleepers tend to really love it or really hate it, with very little in between.
Bounce Test
There is a very low level of bounce on the SweetNight Memory Foam mattress. In our tests, we measured 4.47” of total bounce. This is 4.76” less bounce than the average. On average, based on all of our tests to date, we have seen 9.23” of bounce.
Max. Depth

Max Bounce Height

As we discussed in the motion transfer and response test sections, the Memory Foam mattress absorbs a huge level of energy. As a result, there is very little energy returned for bounce.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The very low level of bounce keeps motion transfer extremely low, but also reduces response, makes it harder to move around on the mattress, and negatively impacts the dance without pants.
This mattress has a classic memory foam feel. I cannot emphasize enough that you absolutely must enjoy the feel of more traditional memory foam to feel comfortable.
Edge Support Test
Edge support on the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam mattress is a mixed bag. Sitting edge support is fair, but not great while lying edge support is simply insufficient.
In our sitting edge support tests, we measured 4.75” of sinkage while sitting directly on the edge. This is very slightly more than the average based on all of our tests to date, which is 4.65”.
Max Sinkage
4.75″
Lying Support
Poor
However, when it comes to sitting edge support being average isn’t where you want to be. In general, I’m looking for edge support sinkage of 4.0” or less.
I wouldn’t describe the edge support on the Dreamy as bad, just not great. While sitting edge support is respectable, edge support while lying is not.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

When lying on my back and side directly on the edge there is a clear collapse of support. There simply is insufficient support to sleep directly on or near the edge.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The natural sinkage and contour of this memory foam at the edge creates an inadequate level of edge support. You absolutely must be several inches away from the edge to feel properly supported by the mattress.
Sex Test
To score sex performance we look at a number of different factors that all play a role in quality sex. Three of the most important factors include:
Sex Bounce
8.6
Edge Support
9.1
Noise
10
In addition to the factors above, there are a few other things to consider as well, like pressure relief and cooling.
Here’s a look at our complete sex formula:
Sex Score Formula = (Bounce * 0.6) + (Edge Support * 0.2) + (Noise * 0.1) + (Pressure Relief * 0.05) + (Cooling * 0.05)
We use the following scores, plugged into the formula, to derive a sex score for each mattress.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 5.3 | Very Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 7.8 | Fair |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Honestly, this score is not impressive, but as a memory foam mattress, the results weren’t unexpected.
The Dreamy mattress has low bounce and poorer edge support so these two factors alone really hurt the overall sex score (being that these two factors are 80% of the sex score).
Very low motion transfer is a contributing factor to the lack of bounce and the result is a mattress surface that overall is just very unengaging for sex.
Pressure Relief Test
Pressure relief is a bit of a mixed bag. There is a moderately deep level of sinkage, coupled with a significant level of contour and hug.
Comfort Layer
6.0″
Comfort Layer Ratio
5.5″
While the top layers of foam allow your body to be hugged there is definitely a wall of sorts as you sink through those comfort foams and into the deeper support foam.
My midsection and butt were sinking deep enough to engage with the support foam, which created excessive pushback.

The pressure relief that the top layers provide was counteracted by the lack of adequate transitional support. Instead, you sink so quickly through the top comfort layers that when the body engages the support foam it feels “abrupt”, thereby creating undue pressure points.
I won’t go as far as to say there is no pressure relief, but certainly, it leaves something to be desired. Heavier-weight sleepers in particular are likely to experience more issues with a lack of pressure relief compared to lighter and moderate-weight sleepers.
Off-Gassing Test
Out of the box, the SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam mattress had a moderate smell that lasted 3 days before fully dissipating.

How firm is SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam?
The company calls this mattress a flippable memory foam mattress, but as the materials show, really only one side is truly designed for sleeping. This is the side that the manufacturer calls the “Soft / medium side”.
This side of the SweetNight Dreamy comes in at a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

In our review we only tested the soft / medium side.
The other side is simply not appropriate for really anyone to sleep on. It uses no comfort layer, so you are sleeping directly on support foam. It is simply inappropriate to sleep directly on support foam.
To date, I have never seen another mattress that had sleepers directly on top of a support foam layer. There is always a layer of comfort material between sleepers and support foam.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the SweetNight mattress is also good, but not great. Most of the issues with support are also issues with pressure relief. The SweetNight mattress uses 6.0” of comfort foam.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Maybe | Maybe | Maybe |
250-300 lbs. | No | No | No |
In general, a thicker comfort layer creates better pressure relief and helps improve support. However, the comfort foams used in this mattress simply allow for so much sinkage that support becomes an issue.
During my tests, my body (which is fairly lightweight at 140 pounds) sank through the comfort foams and into the support foam layer.
My midsection and butt engaged with the support foam, creating an excessive level of pushback. This then creates a build-up of pressure.

These types of issues will be more notable the heavier you are. For lighter-weight sleepers, this will be less of an issue.
However, for moderate-weight and heavier-weight sleepers I would be more concerned (especially for sleepers over 200 pounds). The firmness is a little less than what is typically best for stomach or back sleepers.
When you combine the firmness with the inherent challenges of deeper sinkage and abrupt pushback of support foam you end up with problematic support.
Design
The SweetNight Dreamy Memory Foam mattress is 11.5″ thick, although SweetNight claims it to be a full 12″.
This mattress is marketed as a flippable foam mattress, but the firm side contains no actual comfort foam (just support foam), so we tested the medium side of this mattress only.

Materials
The Dreamy Memory Foam mattress is made up of three primary layers including both memory foam and support foam.
- 2.0″ gel memory foam
- 4.0″ gel memory foam
- 5.5″ support foam

Again, I feel the need to point out here that there is no comfort foam on the “firm side” of the SweetNight mattress.
For anyone to claim that you can comfortably sleep directly on support foam is a pretty big exaggeration. Even for sleepers who want a firm mattress, this side simply would not provide the pressure relief needed to be comfortable.
The Cover
The cover of this mattress is soft, breathable, and light grey in color. It has a seamless finish and is thin.

The Comfort Layer
The top foam of the comfort layer is a 2.0″ memory foam. This foam is hole-punched, but the holes are super small. I don’t think these holes are going to have any significant impact on cooling or comfort.

Directly below the top foam is a second layer of memory foam, but this one is gel-infused memory foam. It has a blue tint and is designed to help with the cooling performance.
The Support Layer
The support layer below the comfort layer is 5.5″ thick and has a higher density than the memory foams above.

Product Evolution
The Dreamy Memory Foam mattress by SweetNight is new to the lineup and the 2022 version of the mattress is the original.
This mattress has not undergone any substantial changes since its launch, but if that changes, we will update this section.

Other Mattresses to Consider
