Our Verdict
The Silk & Snow Plush is a 13″ hybrid mattress that includes a combination of memory foam, poly foam, and pocketed coils, all wrapped within a plush quilted cover.
It has deep sinkage and a low level of bounce. This mattress has a balanced feel, combining the contour of memory foam with transitional poly foam and coils.
The Plush Hybrid comes in a single firmness—4.5 out of 10 for a soft (medium soft) feel. For a firmer feel, you may want to check out the Silk & Snow Hybrid, which has a firmness of 6 out of 10.
Overall performance sits at an above-average level of 8.59, providing a good value for many sleepers.
The Silk & Slow Plush is only $1,300 for a queen mattress. To date, the average hybrid mattress is $1,316 so this mattress is coming in slightly below the average cost.
If you’re looking for a good deal with a soft feel, this mattress is a strong contender.

How is Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid Different?
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has better-than-average overall performance and a price tag that is slightly less than the average hybrid.
Advantages
Beyond the attractive price, other advantages to the Plush hybrid include better-than-average cooling performance, 13% less motion transfer than average, better edge support, and a thicker profile overall.
The average mattress tested to date is 12″, but the Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid is 13″, giving it an advantage for some sleepers.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has slightly deeper sinkage than the average mattress and also 20% less bounce than the average hybrid. Both sinkage and bounce are considered “neutral factors” since both of these values still fall within a reasonable window that most sleepers would find comfortable.
Disadvantages
The only real disadvantage of the Plush Hybrid is a slower-than-average material response time. Off-gassing is also slightly longer than average (9 days vs. 6-day average), but certainly not the worst we’ve seen.
Cooling Test
The Silk & Snow Plush has excellent cooling performance. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body. That mattress uses 5.0” of foam on top of an 8.0” pocketed coil unit.
Baseline Temp.
78.0° F
Max Temp.
88.9° F
Ending Temp.
80.0° F
Max Temp.
Ending Temp
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
While the mattress is equipped with a 2.0” layer of memory foam, it is positioned below the 1.0” quilted cover, which helps reduce heat by keeping the more heat-retaining memory foam further away from sleeper bodies.
In addition, the pocketed coil unit provides ample airflow to the mattress, further helping to mitigate any heat retention.
Heat Dissipation Over Time
In our objective temperature testing, we measured a max surface level temperature of 88.9°, which is 0.69° cooler than average.
After getting off the mattress the temperature declined by 5.4° from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.79° cooler than after. The temperature decline was 8.9° from minutes 0 to 5, which is 1.68° cooler than average.
When we look at the complete picture of objective data, subjective experience, and material analysis, I’m confident most sleepers will find the Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid to be sufficiently cool.
Sinkage Test
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has a deep level of sinkage. In our pressure point sinkage tests, we measured a sinkage depth of 2.33”. This is 0.17” more sinkage than the average of 2.16”.
Sinkage Depth
2.33″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.
The mattress creates a dramatic body-contouring hug. You really feel the memory foam wrapping around the body. When you combine this feel with the deep sinkage you have a mattress that’s able to create a ton of pressure relief and hugging sensation.
Motion Transfer Test
The Silk & Snow Plush has a low level of motion transfer. In our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.51 m/s². The mattress has 12.8% less motion transfer than the average of 8.61 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
3.40 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-4.11 m/s²
Accel. Range
7.51 m/s²
The combination of a thick 5.0” foam comfort layer, 2.0” memory foam near the top, softer feel, and pocketed coil unit are all working together to deliver a low level of motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.21 seconds.
By 0.64 seconds we see a return to near-zero levels of energy. Mattresses with the lowest motion are able to disperse all energy within 0.3 seconds.
While the Silk & Snow isn’t quite to that level, it’s not far off. The motion peaks are low and the duration is quite restrained. For most sleepers, this level of motion will be perfectly fine.
Response Test
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to material responsiveness. In our response tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.6 seconds and a fully recovered response time of 2.0 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.6 sec.
Complete Recovery
2.0 sec.
The mostly recovered response of 0.6 seconds is 0.19 seconds slower than the average of 0.41 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Even though it’s worse than average, it’s not that much worse and is still going to be fast enough for most sleepers. That said, the fully recovered response time measurement of 2.0 seconds isn’t ideal.
It’s 1.13 seconds slower than the average of 0.87 seconds. While the full recovery is far from ideal, the mostly recovered time of 0.6 seconds should be fast enough that most sleepers will find it sufficiently responsive.
However, if you are more sensitive to slower responding materials and/or feeling stuck on the mattress, this is not going to be an ideal pick for you.
Bounce Test
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has a moderate level of bounce. In our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.73″. This is 1.95” less bounce than the average of 9.68”.
Max. Depth
5.39″
Max. Rebound
2.34″
Total Bounce
7.73″
The 5.0” comfort layer, 2.0” memory foam layer, and softer feel all work together to dramatically reduce bounce.
The lower bounce is greatly beneficial for lowering motion transfer as well. However, low bounce also makes it more difficult to move around on the mattress and inhibits sex performance.
Max. Sinkage Depth
Max Bounce Height
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Sleepers who have historically slept on a more traditional coil mattress may find this level of bounce simply too jarring. However, sleepers who have slept on all foam mattresses and other more balanced hybrids should find this bounce acceptable.
Edge Support Test
The Silk & Snow Plush has excellent edge support for both sitting and sleeping. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.5”. This is 0.58” less sitting sinkage than the average of 4.08”.
Max Sinkage
3.50″
Lying Support
Excellent
Ideally, I want to see 4.0” or less and we easily hit that benchmark. Even when sitting on the absolute edge the mattress has ample support and there is no collapse of the materials. Lying edge support was equally as good.
In our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions, even when lying directly on the edge of the mattress.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.
Sitting, 200 lbs.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.
Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.
The mattress is equipped with a 3.5” wide and 8.0” tall support foam that runs along the entire perimeter of the mattress. This support foam is having a significant positive impact on edge support for both sitting and lying.
Sex Test
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has good sex performance, though it’s far from incredible. The greatest detractor to the dance without pants is the low level of bounce.
Bounce is without question the most critical factor for great sex. On the positive side, the mattress has great edge support and is super comfortable, both of which are points in favor of the Silk & Snow.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 7.3 | Moderate |
Edge Support | 20% | 9.4 | Excellent |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Pressure Relief Test
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has excellent pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant level of pressure point build-up anywhere on my body.
Comfort Layer
5.0″
Support Layer
8.0″
The mattress has a robust 5.0” comfort layer, which is 0.8” thicker than the 4.2” comfort layer average, based on all of our tests to date.
The foam layers look and feel high quality and do a great job of contouring and comforting. Notably, the mattress has a 2.0” layer of memory foam on top. This memory foam layer does a great job of contouring the unique shape of your body.
This type of body contouring helps the sleeper feel hugged, while the 1.0” quilted cover and 2.0” polyfoam layer below the memory foam balance out the memory foam feel.
Overall, I expect most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be more than sufficient.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Silk & Snow Plush is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 9 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
9 days
The average off-gassing of all mattresses tested to date is 6 days so the Silk & Snow is slightly longer, but not by much.
Scoring Note: The above data and score is a second off-gassing test we conducted on this mattress. The original off-gassing test was 26 days. Given the extremely long off-gassing duration of the original test, Silk & Snow believed we received a defective mattress and asked us to re-test a new mattress. We agreed to that re-test.
Company
Silk & Snow has good company policies. They offer a 365-night trial period and a 15-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free and the mattress is manufactured and ships from Canada.
This trial period is over 2X longer than average. The warranty is slightly longer than 77% of mattresses (which have a 13-year average), but also shorter than 23% of mattresses that offer a lifetime warranty.
How Do We Determine Company Score?
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.

How firm is Silk & Snow Plush?
The Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid has a firmness of 4.5 out of 10. This gives the mattress a soft to medium feel. Some sleepers might call this medium-soft.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Silk & Snow Plush Hybrid is excellent. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress uses an 8.0” thick pocketed coil unit for support. This is just a bit thicker than the average 7.8” support layer, based on all of our tests to date.
As with the comfort layer, the support layer looks and feels high quality. I’m not concerned about the build quality or material quality. My only concern is the deeper level of sinkage.
For side sleepers, this deeper sinkage is ideal, as it can help bring the hips into alignment with the rest of the spine. However, for back and stomach sleepers it can have the opposite effect, causing the midsection to sink down too deeply.
As a result, the Plush Hybrid is better suited to the needs of side sleepers and is less well suited to the needs of back and stomach sleepers.
Most back and stomach sleepers will be happier with the regular version of the Silk & Snow Hybrid.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.

The Cover
The cover of the Silk & Snow Plush hybrid is a 1.0″ quilted cover. It has a plush, soft feel, but is not incredibly thick. The fabric used on the sides of the mattress is thicker for reinforced structure. There are also carrying handles for maneuvering or moving the mattress.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer includes two separate layers of foam. The top layer is a 2.0″ memory foam (blue) and the secondary layer is a 2.0 poly foam (white).
The memory foam provides good contour and hug while the poly foam balances out the feeling and provides transitional support into the coil layer below.
The Support Layer
The support layer includes 8.0″ pocketed coils, each individually encased in a thin fabric. There is also a 3.5″ wide support foam that runs along the perimeter of the mattress to help reinforce the edges.
Product Evolution
Silk & Snow, the company, was launched in 2017, on the wings of a successful Kickstarter campaign. The brand was later acquired by Sleep Country in 2022.
The Plush hybrid was a new release in the spring of 2024, following the Silk & Snow Hybrid, which launched in late 2020. The Plush gives a nice option for sleepers looking for a softer feel (4.5) than what the original Hybrid can provide (6 out of 10).
