Best For
- Budgets under $1,000
- Moderate sinkage
- Suitable pressure relief for a wide range of sleeper types, preferences, and body types
Considerations
- Higher levels of motion transfer
- Slower material response time
- Edge support struggles when sitting directly on the edge of the mattress
Our Verdict
The Nectar Premier is a 13″ memory foam mattress that contains memory foam, poly foam, and a support foam base.
This mattress has moderate levels of sinkage and low levels of bounce for a more traditional memory foam feel.
It is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, which gives the Nectar Premier a medium feel.
In our performance tests, the Nectar Premier had an overall score of 8.52, which is slightly lower than the average performance score of 8.57, based on all of our mattress tests to date.
Despite the lower performance, the advantage of the Nectar Premier is the lower price tag. The Nectar Premier is only $949—12% less than the average memory foam mattress for a savings of over $120 for a queen mattress.

How is Nectar Premier Different?
The Nectar Premier has slightly below average overall performance and a price tag that is also below average—12% less than the average memory foam mattress for a savings of over $120 on a queen mattress.
Advantages
Besides price, other advantages of the Nectar Premier includes better cooling performance, a thicker mattress profile, and faster off-gassing.
Neutral Factors
The mattress has moderate levels of sinkage and low levels of bounce. It performs like a traditional memory foam mattress in that regard.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Nectar Premier include higher levels of motion transfer, slower response time (for full material recovery), and struggling edge support—especially when seated directly on the edge of the mattress. The sex score is also below average, which isn’t too surprising given the lower levels of bounce and worse edge support.

Cooling Test
The Nectar Premier has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
76.1° F
Max Temp.
88.6° F
Ending Temp.
80.7° F
Typically, all foam mattresses tend to struggle more with heat retention, especially those that contain memory foam. However, the Nectar Premier did markedly better.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Certainly, having a higher-quality memory foam that breathes better is helping. In addition, the thin cover helps to allow air in and out of the mattress.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 88.6° F, which is 1.1° cooler than the average of 89.7°, based on all of our tests to date.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When I consider the objective temperature tests, my subjective experience, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling performance is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Premier has a moderate level of sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.12”. This is 0.02” less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.14”, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.12″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
Notably, the mattress has a dramatic body contouring hug. The thin cover allows the body more direct contact with the memory foam layer, so you really feel the foams conforming to the exact shape of the body.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

This is a preferential feel, some love it, some not so much, but for those who do love a more significant body contouring hug the Nectar Premier feels fantastic.
Lastly, the material response isn’t slow, but it’s not fast either. While this helps cradle and hug the body, some may find it also causes the mattress to be more difficult to move around on.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Premier has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.77 m/s². This is 11% more motion transfer than the average of 8.81 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
4.71 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-5.06 m/s²
Accel. Range
9.77 m/s²
The combination of all-foam design, memory foam comfort layer, and thin cover all help to keep motion transfer restrained.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion from 0 to 0.14 seconds. Motion plummets immediately thereafter and by 0.65 seconds we’ve returned to near zero levels of energy.

While the initial spike is a little above average, it’s not high by any stretch. Furthermore, I’m pleased with the relatively fast motion duration.
The mattresses with the lowest motion are able to disperse all energy within 0.3 seconds. Nectar’s Premier isn’t quite at that level, but it’s not far off. I don’t expect motion transfer will be an issue for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Nectar Premier has a fast material responsiveness. During our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than the average of 0.40 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.4 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.7 sec.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
During our fully recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.70 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the average of 0.90 seconds.
While these responsiveness speeds aren’t quite instant, they aren’t slow by any stretch. Having a material response speed on the faster side ensures you’ll never feel stuck in the mattress and it’s easy to move around on.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Premier has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.38”. This is 3.19” less bounce than the average of 9.57”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.16″
Max. Rebound
1.22″
Total Bounce
6.38″
The lower bounce was not unexpected. All foam mattresses, especially those that contain memory foam, typically have less bounce. And that’s exactly what we measured on the Nectar Premier.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The limited bounce can make it more difficult for some to move around on the mattress, but most importantly it negatively impacts sex performance.
With just 6.38” of bounce the mattress is in the bottom 13% of all mattresses tested to date for total bounce height.
Edge Support Test
The Nectar Premier has fair sitting edge support and good lying edge support. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.75”. This is 0.73” more sitting sinkage compression than the average of 4.02”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max Sinkage
4.75″
Lying Support
Good
Fortunately, the Nectar Premier’s total profile height is 13”, so even with 4.75” of sinkage, there isn’t a collapse of materials.
Even so, 4.75” is notably deeper than average and it certainly means sitting edge support is a weak spot.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While sitting edge support left something to be desired, lying edge support was considerably better. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The mattress does much better when weight is evenly distributed along the edge while lying, especially compared to sitting edge support, where weight is localized to a single spot.
Notably, we don’t have any type of perimeter edge support foam, which does limit just how good the edge support can be. However, we still have 13” of total foam, reasonably good quality foams, and a sizable 7.5” support layer. All of these are helping reinforce support in general and also benefit edge support.
Sex Test
The Nectar Premier has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal and both cooling and pressure relief are excellent. However, both bounce and edge support leave much to be desired.

With 4.75″ of sitting sinkage compression at the edge, the mattress just doesn’t have the most robust edge support. For some couples, this could be a deal breaker, as the edge of the mattress can be an area of particular importance.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 6.5 | Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 7.8 | Fair |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
In addition, bounce just isn’t good with only 6.38” of total bounce height. This puts it within the low bounce threshold and is the single greatest factor negatively impacting amorous activity performance.

Unfortunately, all foam mattresses, especially those that contain memory foam, just don’t typically excel when it comes to the dance without pants.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Premier has excellent pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no notable level of pressure points anywhere on my body. The mattress is equipped with a 5.0” comfort layer consisting of a 2.0” memory foam and 3.0” poly foam layer.
Comfort Layer
5.5″
Support Layer
7.5″
This is notably thicker than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.0”, based on all of our tests to date. The foam quality is a bit of a mix bag.
The top 2.0” memory foam I’m more than pleased with. It looks and feels high quality.

However, the 3.0” poly foam below that I’m less thrilled with. It’s a decent quality, but it’s not nearly at the same quality level as the top foam.
This causes me to worry about the longevity of that foam layer. Even so, considering the total feel of the mattress and price point, it’s hard to complain too much.
In our pressure mapping tests, we measured a max pressure point of 1.41 PSI while lying on my side. Pressure at a PSI of 2.0 or higher is considered high pressure and we aren’t anywhere near those levels. I expect most sleepers will find this level of pressure relief to be satisfactory.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.20 | 1.41 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.10 | 1.02 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.11 | 1.04 |
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Nectar Premier is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 4 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
4 days
Compared to the average off-gassing duration of 7 days, the Nectar Premier offgasses 3 days faster.
Company
Nectar mattresses have a 365-night trial period and a lifetime warranty. Both shipping and returns are free.

---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |

How firm is Nectar Premier?
The Nectar Premier has a medium feel with a firmness of 5 out of 10.

Support & Sleeping Positions
The Nectar Premier has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.
The mattress is equipped with a 7.5” support foam layer (it’s supposed to be 8.0”, but ours was short of that). This is 0.4” shorter than the average support layer thickness of 7.9”, based on all of our tests to date.

Even so, the support layer is a reasonably good quality and sufficiently thick to create robust support. The medium feel of the mattress makes it a good choice for most body types and all sleeping positions.
Lastly, pressure relief wasn’t an issue, so you can lie comfortably in the same position well supported for an extended period of time.
Overall, I’m pleased with support and I don’t expect it will be an issue for most sleepers.

Materials
The Nectar Premier is designed to be 13”, but our support layer was a little short at 7.5” (supposed to be 8″). Even so, the total height of the mattress still measured out to 13” due to the height added by the cover.
From top to bottom, here are the layers of the Nectar Premier:
- 0.5” cover
- 2.0” memory foam
- 3.0” poly foam
- 7.5” support foam

The Cover
The Nectar Premier has a thin cooling cover made of a combination of polyester and polyurethane. It has an antimicrobial treatment and is designed to be moisture-wicking and breathable.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is a combination of two foam layer working together. On top, we have a 2.0″ memory foam (light orange) and directly below that, there is a 3.0″ poly foam (white). The secondary poly foam blends in a bit with the support layer below

The Support Layer
The support layer is a 7.5″ high-density support foam. This layer is designed to be 8.0″ thick, but in the mattress we tested, this layer came up a little short.

Product Evolution
The Nectar Premier was first launched in retail stores in late 2020 and released online in early 2021.
Since its release, there have been a number of upgrades made. The newest update rollout happened in 2024 when products were upgraded to the 5.0 version.
We tested the Nectar back in 2021 when it was released and again in 2024 to compare any changes in the mattress over the years.
