Our Verdict
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress is a 13.5″ memory foam hybrid mattress that contains a mix of memory foam, poly foam, and a pocketed coil base.
This mattress has very deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. It has a traditional memory foam feel that creates a deeper contour, hug, and restrained motion transfer.
It is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium feel.
In our performance tests, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid earns an overall score of 8.76, ranking it in the top 40% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Luxe Hybrid costs $1399 for a queen, 11% less than the average memory foam hybrid mattress. While the mattress isn’t perfect, given the performance for the price, it’s a fantastic value mattress. Based on our tests, all memory foam hybrids (except for 1) that out performed the Luxe Hybrid simply cost more—$1499 up to $2,774. For value and performance, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a great option.

How is Nectar Luxe Hybrid Different?
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a memory foam hybrid with above-average overall performance and a price tag that is 11.6% less than average—a savings of $183 on a queen-sized mattress.
For any mattress, this is the balance we like to see—better performance for a lower price. With that in mind, let’s run through the specifics.
Advantages
Advantages of the Luxe Hybrid include better cooling performance, slightly lower levels of motion transfer, and faster material response time. The mattress has a 5.0″ comfort layer, which is fantastic for pressure relief, especially for side sleepers.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep levels of sinkage and low levels of bounce. Traditional memory foam has more contour and hug compared to poly foam or latex foams. This is the feel of the Luxe Hybrid, so you’ll want to make sure that’s exactly what you’re looking for in order to love this mattress.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Luxe Hybrid include struggling edge support when sitting, but when lying, we found support to be excellent.
The sex score is also lower than average, but not unexpected for a memory foam mattress. Low bounce is pretty typical for memory foam and worse sex performance is a byproduct of that low bounce.

Cooling Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
74.7° F
Max Temp.
90.6° F
Ending Temp.
82.4° F
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The mattress seems to breathe well. In terms of design, we have a hybrid configuration, with a layer of pocketed coils bringing ample airflow into the mattress.
It’s also a layer that isn’t going to retain heat like foam will. Certainly, the thicker foam comfort layer and memory foam topmost layer aren’t perfect when it comes to heat retention.
Even so, the thin knit cover and higher quality nature of the foams allows them to perform well with respect to cooling.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.6° F. This is 1.0° warmer than the average of 89.6°, based on all of our tests to date.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the objective data, my subjective experience, and an analysis of the materials and design, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a very deep level of sinkage. During our tests, we measured 2.62” of pressure point sinkage. This is 0.48” more sinkage than the average of 2.14”, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.62″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
The mattress creates a dramatic body-contouring hug. However, it’s not overly exacting or overly enveloping.
The foams are more responsive, so I didn’t feel stuck despite the deeper level of sinkage.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress had a deep level of sinkage in general, but especially for heavier parts of my body, it was sinking down even further. This dynamic creates amazingly good pressure relief (especially for some sleepers), but could also simply be too deep for some sleepers.
Lastly, the thin cover allows the body more direct contact with the foam layers, which amplifies the body contouring hug. Ultimately, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is an ideal mattress for those who really love the deep body-hugging contour of memory foam.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.18 m/s². This is 5% more motion than the average of 8.78 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
4.31 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-4.87 m/s²
Accel. Range
9.18 m/s²
The mattress has many material attributes that help to mitigate motion including the looser thin cover, thick 5.0” comfort layer, memory foam top layer, and pocketed coil unit.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion from 0 to 0.21 seconds. Motion drops thereafter and by 0.65 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy.

While the motion duration could be better, it’s not bad by any stretch. I’m pleased with the relative speed at which motion dissipates. In addition, the motion peaks are very well restrained also.
While motion can certainly be lower, motion at these levels is perfectly reasonable, especially for a hybrid. For most sleepers, I don’t expect this level of motion will be problematic.
Response Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a very fast mostly recovered time and a moderate time to fully recover. In our material response tests, we measured a mostly recovered time of 0.3 seconds and a fully recovered response time of 1.0 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.0 sec.
The mostly recovered time is 0.11 seconds faster than average, while the fully recovered time is 0.1 seconds slower than average. Motion at these speeds is a bit of a mixed bag.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
On the one hand, it’s great that the mostly recovered time was faster than average. However, it’s not ideal that the mattress takes a full 1.0 seconds to fully rebound back to shape.
More sensitive sleepers could simply find this makes the mattress more difficult to move around. Even so, I expect most sleepers will find these responsiveness speeds to be acceptable.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.27”. This is 2.27” less bounce than the average of 9.54”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
6.57″
Max. Rebound
0.70″
Total Bounce
7.27″
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

While the thick 5.0” comfort layer and memory foam top foam are great for pressure relief and keeping motion transfer lower, both also significantly suppress bounce.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce makes it more difficult to move around on the mattress, which is also impacted by the deeper sinkage and slower material response time. In addition, lower bounce negatively impacts sex performance.
Unfortunately, lower bounce is simply a byproduct of memory foam. In order to be comfortable on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid you’ll need to be okay with lower bounce and all that comes with it.
Edge Support Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a mixed bag for edge support, with sitting edge support being mediocre while lying edge support is excellent.
Max Sinkage
5.75″
Lying Support
Excellent
In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 5.75”. This is 1.72” more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.03”, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

This mattress has a thick 5.0” comfort layer with foams that are relatively soft and compress fairly easily when under pressure. This dynamic makes comfort and pressure relief fantastic, however, it doesn’t do much for edge support.
As a result, while sitting directly on the edge there is a significant level of material compression. While sitting edge support leaves much to be desired, lying edge support was excellent.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions while lying directly on the edge of the mattress.
The mattress uses two rows of reinforced edge support coils that run along the perimeter. These coils have a significant positive impact for edge support while lying.
Sex Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal, pressure relief is outstanding, and cooling is excellent. However, both bounce and edge support leave much to be desired.
With just 7.27” of total bounce height the mattress just isn’t amazing when it comes to bounce. The average bounce height is 9.54” and when it comes to the dance without pants, more bounce is almost always better.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 7.0 | Moderate |
Edge Support | 20% | 6.6 | Mediocre |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
The lack of bounce can make this mattress more strenuous and difficult to have sex on. In addition, edge support is well below average with 5.75” of sitting sinkage compression.

This higher sinkage level at the edge greatly impacts the size of the sexable surface area and for many couples will simply make the edge of the mattress unusable. Ultimately, sex performance simply isn’t incredible.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has outstanding pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure points on my body. The mattress is equipped with a thick 5.0” comfort layer, consisting of a 3.0” memory foam and a 2.0” poly foam layer.
Comfort Layer
5.0″
Support Layer
8.5″
This is 1.0” more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.0”, based on all of our tests to date. The foam layers all look and feel high quality.

The mattress has a combination of a medium feel, deeper sinkage, and more dramatic body contouring hug. This feel creates above-average pressure relief and an exceptionally comfortable feel.
Mind you, it is a more specific feel. Not everyone will love the feel of memory foam, which has more body contouring, more hug, and deeper sinkage, but for those who do it does an amazing job alleviating pressure.
While many different types of sleepers could enjoy the Nectar Luxe Hybrid, the comfort and pressure-relieving dynamic is best suited to the needs of most side sleepers.

Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 5 days.

Comparing all mattresses tested to date, the average off-gassing duration is 7 days so the Luxe Hybrid is 2 days faster.

Company
Nectar mattresses come with a 365-night trial period, a lifetime warranty, free shipping, and free returns.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |

Across all mattress brands tested, the average trial period is 177 nights, so Nectar is over twice as long as the average. And the lifetime warranty is also longer too.
Among all mattresses tested, only 1 in 4 mattresses offer a lifetime warranty. The average of the other 75% of mattresses is 13 years.
How firm is Nectar Luxe Hybrid?
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is available in a single firmness and has a medium feel with a firmness of 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.

Support & Sleeping Positions
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
The mattress uses 8.5” of total support materials, split across a 7.5” pocketed coil unit and a 1.0” support foam on the base. This 8.5” support layer is modestly thicker than the average comfort layer thickness of 7.9”, based on all of our tests.

I’m pleased with both the quantity and quality of support materials. Perhaps most notably, the mattress creates a deeper level of sinkage.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
250-300 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
This fact, combined with the medium feel, means it is especially good for side sleepers. However, the deeper sinkage can simply be too much for some back and stomach sleepers.
If you are a back or stomach sleeper you’ll just want to be sure that your body is comfortable with the deeper sinkage in order to feel well-supported by the Luxe Hybrid.

The Cover
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid features a thin cooling cover with an antimicrobial finish. It is designed for moisture-wicking and to draw heat away from your body when sleeping.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is made of two different foam layers. On top, we see a 3.0″ memory foam (yellow) designed with deeper contour and pressure relief.

The second layer is a 2.0″ transitional poly foam (white). This layer helps to ease pressure points and transitions sleeper weight from the comfort layer into the support layer below.
The Support Layer
The support layer is made of an 7.5″ pocketed coil system followed by a 1.0″ high-density support foam (green).

According to Nectar, the coils should be a full 8.0″ high, but ours were measuring a good 0.5″ shy of that target. For that reason, this 14″ mattress shrinks down to a 13.5″ mattress.
