Our Verdict
The Nectar Premier Hybrid is a 13″ memory foam hybrid mattress. It contains a combination of memory foam, transitional poly foam, and a pocketed coil base.
This mattress has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce for that classic memory foam feel.
It is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, giving it a medium feel.
In our performance tests, the Premier Hybrid has an overall score of 8.43, a score which is slightly below the average of 8.57 (based on all of our tests to date).
That being said, if we look specifically at price, the Nectar has some big advantages. This mattress has a price tag of only $1099—30% less than the average memory foam hybrid for a savings of $456 (on a queen mattress).
Comparing all memory foam hybrids tested to date, no mattress performs better at a lower price point. The Nectar Premier Hybrid is a great option if you want a memory foam hybrid on a budget.

How is Nectar Premier Hybrid Different?
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has an overall performance that is 0.14 lower than average, but also a price tag that is 30% less than average as well—a savings of $456 on a queen mattress.
Advantages
Besides price alone, other advantages of the Premier Hybrid include better cooling performance, a thicker 13″ profile, as well as better pressure relief.
Nectar offers a 365-night trial period, 187 nights longer than average, and a lifetime warranty as well.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. In addition, motion transfer levels are also about average, making it a bit of a neutral factor.
Disadvantages
The Nectar has slower material responsiveness as well as struggling edge support. The extra sinkage when sitting and lying at or near the edge can also be a disadvantage for sex performance.

Cooling Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
75.7° F
Max Temp.
88.2° F
Ending Temp.
78.3° F
The mattress has many material and design attributes to help cooling, including the thin cover, coil unit, and quality foams. The thin cover allows for better breathability, the coil unit greatly increases airflow, and the quality foams resist heat retention.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 88.2° F. This is 1.4° less than the average of 89.6° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress the temperature declined by 5.1 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.4° cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.7°.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.54″. This is 0.39″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.15″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.54″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress has a more classic memory foam feel. It creates a dramatic body hug and contours to the exact shape of the body. This feeling, in combination with the deeper sinkage, creates amazingly good pressure relief.
However, memory foam can have a more polarizing feel. To be comfortable on the Nectar Premier Hybrid you’ll need to really love the feel of memory foam with lots of body hug and contour.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 8.94 m/s². This is 2% more motion transfer than the average of 8.79 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
4.14 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-4.80 m/s²
Accel. Range
8.94 m/s²
The 2.0” memory foam top layer, 4.0” foam comfort layer, looser thin cover, and hybrid design are all helping to keep motion transfer held to a minimum.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion from 0 to 0.14 seconds. Motion drops off thereafter and by 0.50 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels.

I am extremely pleased with the motion intensity and motion duration. I don’t expect most will be an issue for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a fast mostly recovered response time and a moderate fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.5 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.3 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.5 seconds, which is 0.10 seconds slower than the average of 0.40 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.3 seconds, which is 0.40 seconds slower than the average of 0.90 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
This slower response is a product of the memory foam that Nectar uses. That memory foam simply takes a couple of moments to rebound back to its original shape.
While the responsiveness speed is far from fast, it’s not slow either. There are plenty of memory foam mattresses that will take 3-7 seconds to rebound back to their original shape.
If you are more sensitive about feeling stuck or having difficulties moving around on the mattress you may find that the Premier Hybrid is simply too slow. However, for most sleepers I don’t expect this will be a huge issue.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.41″. This is 2.11″ less bounce than the average of 9.52″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
6.22″
Max. Rebound
1.19″
Total Bounce
7.41″
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The 2.0” memory foam layer on top of the mattress is having a notable impact on bounce. Memory foam, particularly the kind Nectar uses, absorbs a great deal of energy. That’s great when it comes to reducing motion.
However, it also means bounce is below average.
That lower bounce negatively impacts sex performance and also makes the mattress more difficult to move around on, especially when combined with the deeper-than-average sinkage and slow material response.
Edge Support Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has mediocre edge support for sitting and excellent edge support for lying.
Max Sinkage
5.75″
Lying Support
Excellent
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 5.75″. This is 1.70″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.05″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While sitting directly on the edge, I simply don’t feel especially well supported. Fortunately, the mattress has a 13.0” total profile. All of that extra material prevents a complete collapse of materials and support. Even so, sitting edge support leaves much to be desired.
Compared to sitting support, lying edge support was notably better. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The mattress uses two rows of reinforced coils along the perimeter of the mattress. These coils seem to have a much greater impact for lying edge support than they do for sitting.
Sex Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal and both pressure relief and cooling are excellent. That said, bounce and edge support leave much to be desired.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 7.1 | Moderate |
Edge Support | 20% | 6.6 | Mediocre |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
In our bounce tests, we measured 7.41” of bounce, which is notably lower than the average bounce of 9.52”. That more limited bounce means amorous activities can be more strenuous.

Edge support also was notably below the average of 4.05”, with 5.75” of sitting edge compression on the Premier Hybrid.
This weaker edge support means that this edge simply isn’t as supportive for the dance without pants. Overall, sex performance is quite disappointing and leaves much to be desired.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Premier Hybrid has excellent pressure relief. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of pressure points anywhere on my body.
Comfort Layer
4.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
Overall, I found the mattress to be incredibly comfortable. The Premier Hybrid is equipped with a 4.0” comfort layer split across a 2.0” memory foam and 2.0” poly foam.
At 4.0” thick the Nectar’s comfort layer is on par with the average comfort layer thickness of 4.0”, based on all of our tests to date.

Both the memory foam and poly foam comfort layers look and feel reasonably high quality, especially given the price point.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.89. This is fantastic. A PSI at or near 2.0 is considered high and none of the pressure mapping tests for the Premier Hybrid came anywhere near that level.
When we look at the total picture of objective pressure maps, subjective experience, and material layers, I’m confident in my view that pressure relief is excellent.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.17 | 0.87 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.89 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.11 | 0.79 |
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Nectar Premier Hybrid is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 7 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
7 days
Comparing over 270+ mattresses tested to date, the average off-gassing period is 7 days. As a result, Nectar is right on par with average.

Company
Nectar offers a 365-night trial period and a lifetime warranty. Shipping and returns are both free as well.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 10 | 365 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Compared to the average, the Nectar trial is longer than average by 187 nights and the lifetime warranty is longer as well. Looking at 270+ mattresses, 25% have lifetime warranties and the average of the other 75% of mattresses is 13 years.
How firm is Nectar Premier Hybrid?
The Nectar Premier Hybrid is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium feel.

Support & Sleeping Positions
The Nectar Premier has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
The mattress is equipped with a 9.0” support layer. The support comes from an 8.0” pocketed coil unit and a 1.0” layer of support foam on the base.

Notably, the coil unit does not have individual support zones. Even so, that’s not unreasonable at this price point.
While it lacks zonal support, the mattress does have two rows of reinforced coils along the perimeter of the mattress.
These coils have a significant positive impact for lying edge support performance and extend the sleepable surface area of the mattress.
While this isn’t the most high-end coil unit we’ve tested, it’s still a perfectly reasonable and good unit, especially considering the price point. Overall, I’m pleased with the level of support and expect it to be perfectly suitable for most sleepers

The Cover
The cover of the Nectar Premier Hybrid is thin, breathable, and has a good amount of stretch to it. It is a cooling cover, designed to help pull moisture away from the sleeper and wick away heat.

The sides of the Nectar Premier Hybrid have handles, but the cover does not have a zippered closure.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer includes a 2.0” memory foam (yellow foam) and a 2.0″ poly foam (blue foam).
These two layers work together to provide comfort and transitional support into the layer below.

The Support Layer
The comfort layer has an 8.0″ pocketed coil base followed by a 1.0″ high-density support foam (green foam).

Product Evolution
The Nectar Hybrid Premier was launched in August 2022. It is one of three hybrid mattresses to be manufactured by Nectar, all launched in the Summer of 2022.
In 2024, a re-designed updated version of the Premier Hybrid launched. This new version is slightly softer and has 1.0″ more memory foam and 1.0″ less poly foam. In addition, Nectar changed their mattress manufacturer to Ashley Furniture (which had recently acquired Nectar’s parent’s company, Resident Home).
We’ve tested this mattress in 2022 and again in 2024 after the changes. You can see the exact changes in the table below.
