Our Verdict
The Dreamcloud Ultra is a 15.00″ memory foam mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam. It has a high-profile design and a luxury feel to it.
The Dreamcloud Ultra is available in a single firmness level — medium.
This mattress has deep sinkage and very low levels of bounce. For traditional memory foam mattress, this feel was not surprising. It has a more dramatic contour and 10/10 pressure relief.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.77, ranking the mattress in the top 40% of all mattresses tested to date. If we look exclusively at memory foam hybrids, that rank is even higher, within the top 24%.
The Dreamcloud Ultra is $2,199 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 22% more expensive than the average memory foam hybrid. While the price is higher, so is performance. If you want a high-profile memory foam mattress, the Ultra is a great option to consider.

How is Dreamcloud Ultra Different?
The Dreamcloud Ultra is a 15.00″ memory foam mattress with an overall performance level that is above average, but a price tag that is also above average as well.
This means you’re paying a bit more than usual, but you’re also getting an ultra-thick profile and slightly better overall performance.

Advantages
The Dreamcloud Ultra memory foam mattress has excellent cooling performance, exceptional pressure relief, and slightly faster off-gassing than average (6 days vs. the 7-day average).
The company also backs the mattress with a 365-night trial period and lifetime warranty.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has deep sinkage and very low levels of bounce. Motion transfer levels are also near average, making it a bit of a neutral factor as well.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages to the Dreamcloud Ultra include a worse sex score than average, largely due to the low levels of bounce and slower material response time.
The price could also be a strong deterrent for many sleepers, as the Dreamcloud Ultra is priced over 2X the cost of an average memory foam mattress. For reference, the average memory foam mattress costs $1,032 for a queen mattress.
Cooling Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
75.0° F
Max. Temp.
89.8° F
Ending Temp.
81.7° F
I was quite surprised at the strong cooling performance with this mattress. Typically, memory foam mattresses struggle more with heat retention, with very few I’ve tested earning a 9 or 10 score.
Despite the memory foam construction, the foam layers breathed well and did not retain significant heat.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Notably, this mattress is equipped with cooling fibers within the cover and phase change materials just beneath the cover. Seemingly, those material choices are able to overcome the memory foam construction and deliver this cooler feel.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.8° F. This is 0.2° less than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 4.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.1 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.52″. This is 0.30″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.22″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.52″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
Body Contour
Dramatic
The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug, which is exactly what we expect from this type of mattress.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

This mattress has a 4.0” thick memory foam layer, which creates lots of hug and lots of body contour. The foam layers conform to the precise shape of your body, creating a more exacting hug.
This mattress delivers the classic memory foam feel, which is neither good nor bad, but it is a specific feel.
To be comfortable on the Dreamcloud Ultra, you’ll need to love the feel of memory foam with lots of hug, deeper sinkage, and a slower material recovery speed.
Motion Transfer Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 8.87 m/s². This is 1% more motion transfer than the average of 8.79 m/s².
Accel. Range
8.87 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.75 seconds
The motion transfer data was interesting and a bit unexpected. Typically, memory foam mattresses perform better than average, but that’s not what we measured here.
Seemingly, the support foam layer is returning a more notable level of energy through the mattress.
While that initial motion spike is around the average motion intensity, the thick memory foam comfort layers are able to disperse the energy quickly and efficiently.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion drops off significantly immediately thereafter.
By 0.75 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.13 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

While this level of motion transfer isn’t perfect, it’s not bad either. Motion intensity is essentially average and motion duration is better than average. All that to say, I don’t expect this level of motion transfer will be a problem for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a fast mostly recovered response time and a moderate fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.4 sec.
Fully Recovered
1.2 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.2 seconds, which is 0.18 seconds slower than the average of 1.02 seconds.
Memory foam mattresses typically take longer to recover to their original shape and that’s exactly what we measured here.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The thicker-than-average comfort layer, but especially the 4.0” thick memory foam layer, simply takes a couple of extra moments to return to its original shape after it has been compressed.
While this responsiveness speed isn’t perfect, it’s not bad either, especially for a memory foam mattress. The full recovered speed is just 0.18 seconds slower than average.
If you are super sensitive to slow material recovery speeds this could cause ease of movement to feel inhibited, but for most sleepers, I don’t expect it to be a major issue.
Bounce Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 4.66″. This is 4.16″ less bounce than the average of 8.82″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.66″
Max. Rebound
0.00″
Total Bounce
4.66″
A lower than average level of bounce is exactly what we expect from this type of mattress. The memory foam design absorbs and disperses energy. In addition, the support foam doesn’t return significant energy.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

Unlike a support layer built from coils, which are resilient and springy, the support foam used here just isn’t able to return much bounce back up through the mattress.
What little it does return is further reduced by the thick comfort layer of memory foam.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
That lower bounce is something of a double-edged sword. The low bounce is a major reason that motion transfer is lower; however, it’s also a negative impact on sex performance.
Edge Support Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has good sitting edge support and good lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.50″
Lying Support
Good
Reinforced Edge
No
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.50″. This is 0.57″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions. Notably, this mattress does not use any type of reinforced perimeter support foam.
The lack of perimeter support foam, medium feel, deep sinkage, and memory foam top comfort layer are all contributing to the weaker edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The thick memory foam comfort layer especially creates a weakening of support along the edge. This is resulting from the memory foam layer conforming and contouring to the shape of the sleeper’s body.
This is great in the middle of the mattress, but this effect at the edge creates a softening and weakening of edge support. All of that to say, while edge support is far from perfect, it’s also not bad either.
Many memory mattresses struggle more with edge support for the exact same reason, so these results aren’t atypical.
In my view, this is a case where if you love and want a memory foam mattress, then a good, but not great, level of edge support is just part of the package.
Sex Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has mediocre sex performance. First up, let’s talk about the positives. This mattress is incredibly quiet, has outstanding pressure relief, and excellent cooling. Moving on with a middling score, we have edge support, which is good, but not great.

Our sitting edge tests measured 4.50” of sitting sinkage. This is worse than average and means the edge just isn’t as robust as would be ideal.
The limited edge support will reduce the usable surface area for many couples. Last but not least, we have bounce, which we measured at 4.66”. This is significantly lower than average.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 5.4 | Very Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 8.1 | Good |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better. The lower bounce makes it more strenuous and more tiring to have sex on this mattress. All together, this level of sex performance leaves much to be desired.
Pressure Relief Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
7.00″
Support Layer
8.00″
Overall, I found the mattress to be incredibly comfortable, even while lying in the same positions for extended periods of time.
The mattress is equipped with 7.0″ of comfort material, which is 2.73″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.27″, based on all of our tests to date.

As part of our tests, I opened up the mattress to assess the materials. The foams look and feel high quality, both on the body and in hand.
Certainly, they aren’t the best quality foams we’ve ever tested, but they are better than a great many others.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.81. Ideally, we’re hoping to see all PSI measurements at 1.0 or better and the Ultra easily cleared that mark.
In looking at the total picture, we have an extra-thick comfort layer, 4.0” of quality memory foam, a medium feel, and a dramatic body contouring hug. That combination works together to create fantastic comfort.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.12 | 0.81 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.68 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.31 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Dreamcloud Ultra had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 6 days. This is 1.1 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.1 days.
Initial Smell Strength

How firm is Dreamcloud Ultra?
The Dreamcloud Ultra is available in a single firmness, 5 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium feel.

This firmness is generally suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Dreamcloud Ultra is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer.
This is 0.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 7.00″ |
| Support Layer | 8.00″ |
| Firmness | Medium |
| Body Contour | Dramatic |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | No |
For a mattress to create great support, it needs to both support the body, creating a neutral spinal alignment, while also delivering sufficient comfort and pressure relief.
The DreamCloud Ultra achieves both of those requirements without issue. There just isn’t much else I expect or hope for a mattress to accomplish in terms of support.
Pressure relief is a non-issue due to high-quality materials and a thicker-than-average total height, support layer, and comfort layer.
Material quality isn’t the absolute best I’ve seen, even so, it’s perfectly sufficient and better than many others we’ve tested.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
The Dreamcloud Ultra uses zoned support via a layer of foam that’s directly on top of the support foam. This layer is cut into 5 pieces with foam of varying densities, creating more support in the middle of the mattress.
This helps create better support, less sagging, and a more neutral spinal alignment. While I do think zoned support via a coil unit is preferable to foam zoned support, I would always rather have foam zoned support than none at all.

In my view, the only thing to be aware of is the memory foam feel. This is a more specific feel due to the exacting body contouring hug, slower material recovery, and deeper sinkage.
To feel well supported by this mattress, you’ll need to enjoy the feel of memory foam.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Dreamcloud Ultra is outstanding.

The Cover
The Dreamcloud Ultra has a 1.0″ quilted cover that is plush and has a scalloped stitching pattern, with an offset border. This modern design gives the mattress surface a more luxurious feel.

Additionally, there are handles sewn into the sides of the mattress, which make it easier to move or rotate the mattress.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 7.00″ thick if we include the 1.0″ quilted cover. Beneath the cover, there is a 4.0″ memory foam layer (white foam), 2.0″ thicker than what we saw on the DreamCloud Luxe all-foam mattress.
After the memory foam is a 1.5″ transitional poly foam layer (blue foam) that helps sleepers ease into the support layers below.

These layers are all working together to provide comfort and pressure relief.
I’ll also add here that DreamCloud’s website says the transitional poly foam is tri-zoned, with a different support dynamic at different points on the mattress. That said, there is no visual indication of these zones for the specific mattress we tested.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.00″ thick and made of a single layer of support foam (green foam). This gives the mattress a simple, yet proven, design for comfort and support.

Product Evolution
DreamCloud launched from the same makers of the Nectar mattress, with Nectar launching in 2017 and DreamCloud following shortly after in 2018.
DreamCloud offers a collection that includes hybrid mattresses as well as memory foam mattresses.
In 2025, Dreamcloud completely redesigned its mattress and brought manufacturing back to the US (as they were recently acquired by Ashley Sleep).
With the acquisition came the launch of the Dreamcloud Ultra, the brand’s highest-priced collection for luxury-seeking sleepers. The Ultra is available in a hybrid and an all-foam design.
You can read our full review of the Dreamcloud Ultra Hybrid here.
Being newer models, these two mattresses have not undergone any major changes since being introduced to the lineup.

For Performance

Amerisleep AS3
Moderate Sinkage, Low Bounce
The Amerisleep AS3 is a 12″ memory foam mattress available in 1 firmness level—medium. It has a thinner profile than the Ultra, but still earns a fantastic pressure relief score. (10/10). As an added bonus, the AS3 is quite a bit cheaper than the Dreamcloud as well.
For Savings

Dreamcloud Luxe
Lower Price, Higher Performance
The DreamCloud Luxe is a 14.5″ memory foam mattress available in 1 firmness level—medium-firm. It has deep sinkage and very low bounce, with its only real weakness being lower sex performance. But the price is also significantly lower than the Dreamcloud Ultra.
For Less Sinkage

Saatva Contour5
2 Available Firmnesses
The Saatva Contour5 is a 12.25″ memory foam mattress that is available in 2 firmness levels—Medium-Firm or Firm. It has minimal sinkage and very low bounce. While the price is a little higher than the Dreamcloud Ultra, if you’re specifically looking for a firmer feel, the Contour5 could be a good pick.
