Best For
- Split configurations, good for couples with different needs
- Excellent edge support
- Great for sex with high levels of bounce
Considerations
- Higher levels of motion transfer than average
Our Verdict
The DLX Premier Hybrid is a 14″ mattress with a balanced feel and is available in three different firmness levels. It also has the option of split firmness.
This mattress is a good option for exceptional performance — high scores for response time, outstanding sitting edge support, and great for sex as well. The only area where it struggled was motion transfer where we measured higher levels of motion than average.
The major selling point of the DLX is the split configurations. Being able to have a different firmness on each side (Queen, King, or Cal King) in a mattress that still looks and feels like a single complete mattress is just fantastic. The internal split is a rare feature we don’t often see and it’s a great benefit to many couples.
We tested a split configuration with the medium / soft split. All of our tests and data are based on the soft side unless otherwise noted below.

How is the DLX Premier Different?
The DLX Premier Hybrid has an overall performance score that is above average (based on all of our tests) as well as a price point that is slightly above average—19% higher than the average hybrid mattress.

Advantages
Advantages of the DLX Premier include better cooling performance, slightly faster response time than average, better edge support, and also a thicker mattress height (1.1″ thicker than average).
Neutral Factors
Sinkage is 25% deeper on the DLX than average while also having 28% higher bounce. While these two factors are preferential factors, they certainly play into the active and engaging feel that comes with the DLX Premier.
Disadvantages
The motion transfer is good, but not amazing. In addition, the mattress is slightly more expensive than the average hybrid pricing (based on all of our tests to date).
Cooling Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has excellent cooling performance. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
79.9° F
Max Temp.
92.7° F
Ending Temp.
85.5° F
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The mattress has a fairly simple, but proven and effective material design. We have a quilted cover and 3.75” of comfort foam on top of an 8.0” pocketed coil base.
The more restrained comfort layer limits the total material thickness that can absorb heat, while the 8.0” coil unit brings plenty of air into the mattress.
In our objective cooling tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 92.7° F, which is 2.96° warmer than average.
The higher max temp is most likely due to the summertime testing. The minute-by-minute heat retention was solid.
From minutes 0 to 1 we measured a decline of 3.9°. And from 0 to 5 minutes that decline was 7.2°, which is 0.29° cooler than average.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

The DLX isn’t the absolute best cooling mattress we’ve tested, but it’s no slouch either. I expect most sleepers will find the cooling performance to be more than sufficient.
Sinkage Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has a very deep level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.73”. This is 0.55” more sinkage than the average of 2.18”.
Sinkage Depth
2.73″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
Notably, we tested the soft version of the mattress in our tests. The medium and firm versions of the mattress will undoubtedly have less sinkage.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

I expect the medium would have moderate sinkage in the 2.20” range, while the firm would likely have very minimal sinkage around 1.70”.
The DLX has a balanced and even body contouring hug. It’s not like memory foam or other all-foam mattresses that dramatically contour and wrap around the body. Instead, it’s more generalized and even in the way that it contours to your shape.
Motion Transfer Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has a moderate level of motion transfer. In our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 10.71 m/s². This is 28.4% more motion than the average of 8.34 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
4.65 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-6.06 m/s²
Accel. Range
10.71 m/s²
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we see the highest motion from 0 to 0.14 seconds. Motion drops off thereafter, but still remains modestly high until 0.78 seconds. It isn’t until 1.06 seconds that we return to near-zero levels.

Neither the motion duration, initial motion spike, nor secondary and tertiary spikes paint a pretty picture. DLX just doesn’t do an amazing job when it comes to minimizing motion.
Response Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has an very fast material response time.
In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.3 seconds and a mostly recovered response time of 0.6 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.6 sec.
Both of these are faster than the average measurements by 0.11 and 0.24 seconds, respectively.
The level of responsiveness is also documented in the video below.
In general, we find that most hybrid mattresses do well in our response tests. Coil layers almost always bounce back to shape instantly and can help aid in the responsiveness of foam comfort layers.
The faster response helps ensure the mattress is easy to move around on and prevents any type of a “stuck” feeling.
Bounce Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has a extremely high level of bounce. In our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 12.38”. This is 2.76” more bounce than the average of 9.62”.
Max. Depth
6.63″
Max. Rebound
5.75″
Total Bounce
12.38″
Ideally, I like to see 8-12” of total bounce. Within this range, we can experience the primary benefits of higher bounce (ease of movement and sex), while minimizing negatives (motion transfer).
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

With 12.38” of bounce we’re a little north of my ideal benchmark, but only slightly.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
While the higher bounce does negatively impact motion transfer, it also improves sex performance and ease of movement. So there are pros alongside the motion transfer con.
Edge Support Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.75”. This is 1.39” less sitting compression than the average of 4.14”.
Max Sinkage
2.75″
Lying Support
Excellent
Any sitting sinkage of 4.0” or less is excellent. The DLX at 2.75” easily exceeds the benchmark we look for. Suffice it to say, even when sitting directly on the edge of the mattress I felt fully supported.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

Lying edge support is nearly as good. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress we tested was the split configuration, medium on one side and soft on the other.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The medium size was moderately better in terms of lying edge support, mostly due to the fact that the materials create less sinkage. The soft side was still great, but a little mushier by comparison. Nevertheless, I felt well-supported on both sides.
Sex Test
The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 10 | Extremely High |
Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |

These factors come out to an excellent score. The DLX excels with high bounce and exceptional edge support. These two factors alone make up 80% of the sex score and are hugely impactful for good sex performance.
Noise is minimal and pressure relief and cooling are both excellent. All in all, there are no real parts to the DLX that would hold back or hinder the dance without pants.
Pressure Relief Test
The DLX Premier Hybrid has excellent pressure relief. During our test, I felt no significant level of pressure point build-up.
Comfort Layer
3.75″
Support Layer
9.25″
For our pressure relief tests, we tested both the soft and medium versions. Both did a great job of alleviating pressure points and remaining comfortable.
The mattress uses 4.5” of comfort materials, including the 3.0” poly foam layer and a 1.5” quilted cover.

At 4.5” of comfort material it’s a little thicker than the average 4.2” of comfort materials, based on all of our mattress tests to date.
These materials, in combination with the 0.50” transitional poly foam and 8.0” coil unit, work well together to deliver full pressure relief. I expect most sleepers will find the level of pressure relief to be more than sufficient.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the DLX is good, but nothing amazing.
It has a strong smell initially when it is unboxed. The odor lasted for 6 days before fully dissipating.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
6 days
Compared to other mattresses, this is longer than the 4.3-day average we’ve seen, but nowhere near the longest off-gassing.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 120 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 10 | $0 |
Trust | 50% | 8.0 | Good |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
The mattress comes with a 120-night trial period, 45 nights shorter than the average trial period of 165 nights.

Although the trial is shorter, the warranty is longer, offering lifetime protection, a benefit only offered by 27% of the mattresses we test. For the other 73% of mattresses, the average warranty length is 14 years.
Shipping and returns are both free.
How firm is the DLX Premier?
This mattress is available in three different firmness levels—soft, medium, and firm. We tested both the medium and soft versions.
Medium Version
The medium version has a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

Soft Version
The soft version has a firmness rating of 4.5 out of 10.

Firm Version
While we did not personally test the firm version, I would estimate that it has a firmness rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Split Configurations
As well as choosing between three firmness levels, you can also opt for a split firmness, which gives each side of the mattress a different firmness.

For couples who have different needs, this can be a great way to both get what you want.
Support & Sleeping Positions
The DLX Premier Hybrid has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions. We tested both the soft and medium versions of the DLX mattress. Both versions create more than enough support.
Different firmnesses are quite similar with respect to their material design. The only real difference is the 3.0” comfort layer, which can be swapped out for a different layer, should you decide you need a softer or firmer feel.

In any case, this similar design means the variance in supportive feel between the two versions is quite small. I found the support dynamic on both the soft and medium versions to be similar and highly supportive.
The mattress uses a 9.5” total support system, including a 0.75” transitional support foam (mattress we tested was only 0.5″), 8.0” coil unit, and 0.75” base support foam.

On average, we measure support layers at 7.7” thick (based on all of our tests to date).
The DLX has a notably thicker support layer than average. Overall, I’m pleased with the level of support.

Design
The DLX Premier is a 14″ hybrid that comes in a variety of firmness levels. It uses a combination of foam and pocketed coils for support and comfort. The design of this mattress is aimed at appealing to a wider audience of sleepers.
Type
Hybrid
Thickness
14″
Firmness
4.5, 6, 7.5

Materials
Being a hybrid, the DLX uses a combination of foam comfort materials followed by a pocketed coil base. From top to bottom, the layers include:
- 1.5″ quilted cover (2 separate 0.75″ layers)
- 3.0″ poly foam
- 0.5″ poly foam (supposed to be 0.75″, but ours was 0.5″).
- 8.0″ pocketed coils
- 0.75″ support foam

The Cover
The DLX Premier Hybrid has a 1.5″ quilted cover with a density of 1.8 PCF (pounds per cubic foot). It has a plush feel and is soft to the touch.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is a 3.0″ poly foam, which is offered as a single firmness or in a split configuration, as shown below. A split configuration allows sleepers to select a different firmness on each side of the mattress.

This foam layer has a density of 2.4 PCF (pounds per cubic foot).
Beneath the 3.0″ poly foam is a 0.5″ transitional poly foam layer. One note: DLX claims this layer is 0.75″ thick, but again, we saw a thinner mattress in reality. The layer we measured was only 0.5″ thick and had a density of 1.8 PCF.

The Support Layer
The support layer contains an 8.0″ pocketed coil followed by a 0.75″ support foam base.

These materials provide support for the comfort layers above. Each coil is individually encased in a thin fabric that allows the coils to move independently, providing better pressure relief overall.
Product Evolution
The DLX Premier Hybrid mattress is new as of 2023. Since its release, there have been no major design changes or upgrades to this mattress.
