Our Verdict
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is a 14.5” hybrid mattress made of a combination of poly foam, memory foam, pocketed coils, and support foam. It has a cooling cover that provides softness and helps to limit heat retention.
This mattress has moderate levels of sinkage and low levels of bounce. It has a balanced feel, but the transitional memory foam does keep motion and movement to a minimum.
The CopperFlex Pro is available in a single firmness, 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, and with a medium-firm feel.
In our performance tests, the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid earned an overall score of 9.06, making it the highest-ranking memory foam hybrid that also falls below $1,000. Looking at all mattresses tested to date, the CopperFlex Pro ranks in the top 16%, comparing over 290+ mattresses tested to date.
Value is exceptional with CopperFlex. Priced at only $999 for a queen mattress, this is 34% less than the average memory foam hybrid. For the best bang for your buck and a memory foam feel, the CopperFlex Pro is the mattress to beat.

How is Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Different?
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is a 14.5″ thick hybrid with above-average overall performance and a below-average price tag. This mattress is an exceptional value and the highest-rated hybrid under $1000 that we’ve tested to date (excluding discontinued models).
Advantages
Specific advantages of the CopperFlex Pro include significantly better cooling than average, lower levels of motion transfer, slightly better edge support, and great pressure relief. There is a 7.0″ comfort layer, nearly 3.0″ thicker than the average comfort layer.
Off-gassing is strong, but the odors dissipate within 4 days, compared to the 6-day average.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has moderate sinkage and a low level of bounce. For a memory foam hybrid, this is a pretty typical feel that we’d expect, given the nature of the materials used. All in all, these are considered neutral factors since different sleepers may have different preferences in these areas.
Disadvantages
The CopperFlex Pro does have a material response time that is a bit slower than average (1.4 seconds for full recovery compared to 1.0 seconds on average).

Brooklyn Bedding also takes a hit due to their company policies. The trial period of this mattress is only 120 nights, 57 nights shorter than average. The warranty is among the 25% of mattresses that provide lifetime warranties.
And last but not least, it’s $99 to return the mattress.
Cooling Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body. Quite to the contrary, the mattress maintained a cooling feel during our tests.
Baseline Temp.
73.7° F
Max Temp.
88.9° F
Ending Temp.
79.8° F
The mattress is equipped with a cooling cover that creates a cool-to-the-touch feel. Said cover was notably cool at both the beginning and end of our test.
In addition, the mattress utilizes high-quality copper-infused foam that resists heat retention and is supported by a pocketed coil unit that brings ample airflow into the mattress.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 88.9° F. This is 0.8° cooler than the average of 89.7° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress the temperature declined by 6.4° from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.6° cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8°.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro has moderate sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.15″. This is exactly the same as the average sinkage depth of 2.15″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.15″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
The mattress creates a hug that borders on the line between balanced and dramatic. Notably, it’s not as dramatic as memory foam. Even so, there is enough memory foam, comfort foam, and sinkage to create a reasonable body contouring hug.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

Despite the hug, the mattress is still relatively easy to move around on and I did not feel stuck in any sleeping position. Overall, it’s a good balance of sinkage, body contouring hug, and responsiveness that most sleepers will find comfortable.
Motion Transfer Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.77 m/s². This is 34% less motion transfer than the average of 8.74 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
2.72 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-3.05 m/s²
Accel. Range
5.77 m/s²
The mattress is equipped with an incredibly thick 7.0” comfort layer. Within that comfort layer is 4.25” of memory foam. All of this foam, especially the memory foam, greatly absorbs and reduces energy rebound, which keeps motion transfer held to a minimum.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.14 seconds. Motion declines thereafter and by 0.94 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy.

I was surprised that the motion duration was nearly 1 second. Typically, when motion intensity is this low, motion duration would be lower also. Even so, it’s hard to complain too much.
Motion intensity is significantly below average, which is all the more impressive at this price point. Given the complete picture of motion transfer data, I don’t expect motion transfer will be a problem for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a very fast mostly recovered response time and a slow fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.4 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.12 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date. In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.4 seconds, which is 0.44 seconds slower than the average of 0.96 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Ultimately, this type of material responsiveness is a tale of two foams. The poly foams within the mattress are highly responsive and spring back to shape effectively instantly.
This is what allows the mostly recovered response time to be faster than average. However, the memory foam layers are both slower than average to respond, taking over a second to recover to their original shape.
As a result, we end up with a mattress that mostly recovers back to shape quickly, but the full recovery takes a moment or two longer.
For most sleepers, this type of responsiveness dynamic still provides for ample ease of movement. However, more sensitive sleepers could find the response on the memory foam layers is problematic.
Bounce Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.15″. This is 3.26″ less bounce than the average of 9.41″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.08″
Max. Rebound
2.07″
Total Bounce
6.15″
This lower bounce is a significant factor in keeping motion transfer lower. However, the low bounce also makes sex performance worse. The CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has a notably thicker-than-average 7.0” comfort layer.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

All of that extra foam absorbs and reduces bounce. Fortunately, the material response and sinkage depth are reasonable levels, so even with the low bounce ease of movement isn’t bad.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Edge Support Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has good sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support. In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.25″. This is 0.20″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.05″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max Sinkage
4.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
While sitting directly on the edge I felt well-supported and there was no collapse of materials. Lying edge support is even better. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

The mattress uses two rows of reinforced coils running along the left and right sides of the mattress. The coils provide extra support and greatly enhance edge support. Notably, the mattress doesn’t use reinforced coils at the head or foot of the mattress.
This is likely a measure to help save money. Even so, it will certainly mean that edge support along the head / foot of the mattress is going to be worse than edge support along the sides.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Sex Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal, pressure relief is excellent, and cooling is outstanding.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 6.3 | Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 8.4 | Good |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
In the good, but not quite great category, we have edge support, which we measured at 4.25”. This is slightly worse than average, but only slightly. Certainly, I would have liked to have seen better edge support, but it’s not bad by any stretch.
The weakest performance factor is bounce, which we measured at just 6.15”. This is notably lower than average and when combined with the thick 7.0” comfort layer and 4.25” memory foam layer, it means it’s simply more difficult and strenuous to have sex on the mattress.

Pressure Relief Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant level of pressure points anywhere on my body.
Comfort Layer
7.0″
Support Layer
7.5″
Overall, I found the mattress comfortable. The mattress is equipped with 7.0″ of comfort material. This is 2.84″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.16″, based on all of our tests to date.
The comfort layer consists of a 1.25” quilted cover, 2.0” copper memory foam, 2.25” memory foam, and 1.5” poly foam layer. The foams all look and feel high quality. And certainly having an incredibly thick 7.0” comfort layer is having a huge impact on the total comfort and pressure relief.

In our pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.95. A PSI of 2.0 is a “high” pressure point and the CopperFlex Pro Hybrid isn’t anywhere near that. Pressure tests on all 3 sleeping positions showed no pressure hot spots or problem areas.
When I consider our objective pressure maps, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be excellent.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.16 | 0.95 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.77 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.12 | 0.89 |
Off-Gassing Test
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 4 days. This is 2.4 days less than the average of 6.4 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
4 days
The smell was a typical memory foam and poly foam smell. While it was strong initially, it went away fast. I don’t expect off-gassing will be a problem for most sleepers.

Company
The CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is produced by Brooklyn Bedding, a company that has been around since 1995 and has been selling online mattresses directly since 2009.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 120 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 7.0 | $99 |
Trust | 50% | 10 | Outstanding |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
They offer a 120-night trial period with a lifetime warranty. Shipping is free and you can return the mattress, but there is a $99 return fee to do so.
Compared to average, the Brooklyn Bedding trial period is 58 nights shorter (average is 178 nights). The average mattress warranty is 13 years, excluding 25% of mattresses that offer a lifetime warranty.
The last ding against Brooklyn Bedding is the $99 return fee. Of over 290+ mattresses tested to date, 79% offer free returns, so Brooklyn Bedding is certainly in the minority here.
How firm is CopperFlex Pro?
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is a medium-firm mattress with a firmness rating of 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm.
This feel is suitable to a wide range of sleepers and is the most popular firmness we test.

This mattress mattress is available as an all foam memory foam and as a hybrid. We tested the hybrid version. I expect the all foam memory foams firmness level would be similar to the hybrid.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 7.5″ support layer. This is 0.37″ thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.87″, based on all of our tests to date.
While the support layer is slightly thinner than average, it didn’t seem to impact performance. The pocketed coil unit is 6.0” thick and contains 760 individual fabric encased coils. Notably, the coil unit is non-zoned.

However, the 1.5” poly foam layer that sits immediately atop the support coil unit is zoned. It uses a more supportive, firmer foam in the center 1/3rd of the mattress. This helps to create more support where your body needs it.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Certainly, the total mattress profile height of 14.5” is making a difference for support. With a 7.0” comfort layer and 7.5” support layer there is ample material to comfort, transition, and support most sleeper body types and sleeping positions.
The mattress has a medium-firm feel, which is also appropriate to the needs of most sleepers.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is excellent.

The Cover
The cover of the CopperFlex Pro is a 1.25″ quilted layer that contains the same GlacioTex cooling cover we’ve seen from other Brooklyn Bedding mattresses (see: Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Hybrid).
It has a hexagonal stitching pattern and uses materials designed to pull heat away from you as you sleep.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is made of three stacked layers of foam. On the top layer we see a 2.0″ copper-infused memory foam followed by a 2.25″ memory foam (light blue foam).

At the base, there is a 1.5″ poly foam (brighter blue) that acts as a transitional layer between the comfort materials and the support coils below.
The Support Layer
The support layer contains a 6.5″ layer of pocketed coils followed by a 1.0″ support foam at the base. Each of the coils are individually encased in a thin fabric that allows each coil to move independently from each other.

The coils and support foam combined provide 7.5″ of support materials for the CopperFlex Pro mattress.
Product Evolution
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro is the newest mattress to hit the Brooklyn Bedding collection. It was launched in late 2024 and was introduced to the lineup as a high value, high-profile mattress with advanced featured like a cooling cover, zoned support, and a hybrid design.

Other Mattresses to Consider
Not sure if the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid is the right pick for you? Check out these three other top-rated memory foam hybrid mattresses for high-performing alternatives you may want to consider.
For Performance

Glacier Apex
9.27 Overall Score
The Glacier Apex is a 14.25″ memory foam hybrid with better performance than the CopperFlex Pro, but also a higher price tag. This mattress outperforms the CopperFlex in edge support, pressure relief, and company. It has a longer trial and warranty as well as a slightly better sex score (due to slightly more bounce). For a queen mattress, the Apex costs $1,399, $299 more than the CopperFlex Pro.
For Firmness Options

Bear Elite Hybrid
9.24 Overall Score
The Bear Elite Hybrid is a 14″ memory foam hybrid with fantastic performance. The advantage of this mattress has got to be the 3 firmness options—soft, medium-firm, or firm. Like the Apex, the Bear Elite has a higher price than the CopperFlex, but also a higher overall performance.
For Flippable

Layla Hybrid
8.95 Overall Score
The Layla Hybrid is a 13″ flippable memory foam hybrid. It has a soft side and a slightly firm side, which can be a good option for sleepers who have varying preferences or for a guest room. This mattress has deeper sinkage and moderate levels of bounce. The biggest disadvantage is worse edge support than CopperFlex, but overall it’s a solid mattress.
