Our Verdict
The Aviya is a 11.50″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam, pocketed coils, and a quilted cover.
The Aviya is available in three firmness levels—Plush, Luxury Firm, and Firm. We tested the Luxury Firm version, which had a slightly firm feel, 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.
The Luxury Firm version of the Avaya has very minimal sinkage and high levels of bounce. The contour on this mattress is slight, which will provide sleepers with a bit less hug than many other mattresses we’ve tested.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.76, ranking the mattress in the top 41% of all mattresses tested to date. While the performance isn’t the absolute best, where it really shines is the price tag.
The Aviya is $1,049 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 31% less expensive than the average hybrid. If you’re looking for a hybrid with multiple firmness options and a budget price, the Aviya can be a good pick.

How is Aviya Different?
The Aviya is a 11.50″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is better than average and a price tag that is below average. Overall, this mattress saves sleepers over 30% off the cost of the average hybrid.
Advantages
Aside from the price, other advantages of the Aviya mattress include better cooling performance, fast material response time, better edge support, and a strong sex score.
This mattress has high bounce and great edge support, two of the factors that can be most impactful for better intimacy.
Off-gassing is also slightly faster than average (1 day faster).
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very minimal sinkage and high levels of bounce. Both of these factors are considered neutral since different sleepers have different preferences.

If you prefer to sleep “on” the mattress and like a bit of a floating feel, the Aviya could be a great pick. If you enjoy a bit more body contour, hug, and like sleeping “in” the mattress then this feel could be more of a disadvantage.
Disadvantages
Straight disadvantages to the Aviya include worse pressure relief and a thinner comfort layer. The Aviya has only 4.25″ of comfort material, which is slightly less than the average (4.38″). The overall mattress thickness is thinner than average as well (11.50″ on Aviya and the average is 12.36″).
Cooling Test
The Aviya has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
79.9° F
Max. Temp.
92.0° F
Ending Temp.
83.1° F
The Aviya has a simple, but proven hybrid design that helps improve cooling. First up, we have the base layer of pocketed coils, which provides plenty of airflow for the mattress.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Next, the comfort layer is entirely poly foam, which retains less heat and is more breathable than memory foam. In addition, the density of these foam layers is on the lower end.
While this isn’t ideal for durability, it is beneficial for avoiding heat retention. Lastly, the cover seems to breathe well.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 92.0° F. This is 1.7° warmer than the average of 90.3° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 5.8 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.0 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Aviya has very minimal sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 1.68″. This is 0.57″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
1.68″
Sinkage Feel
Very Minimal
Body Contour
Slight
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates only a slight level of body contouring hug. Instead, the mattress is more buoyant and creates a floating feel where the body lies more “on” the mattress as opposed to sinking down “in” the mattress.
This mattress is a bit unique, as it feels a bit like a hybrid mattress, but also a bit like a coil mattress. The high bounce, fast material recovery speed, less sinkage, and less of a foam feel work together to make it feel more like a coil mattress.

That said, the mattress still uses a pocketed coil unit and enough poly foam comfort material for it to meet my general definition of a hybrid mattress.
In any case, the feel is more unique and it’s worth considering your specific needs and preferences to make sure they align well to the Aviya’s sinkage depth and other feel characteristics.
Motion Transfer Test
The Aviya has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.22 m/s². This is 5% more motion transfer than the average of 8.80 m/s².
Accel. Range
9.22 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.33 seconds
The higher motion transfer level is a product of the thinner-than-average comfort layer, the highly responsive and springy materials, and the significantly higher-than-average level of bounce.
These design and material choices create the right conditions for greater motion.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines thereafter, but remains spiky through 0.8 seconds.
By 1.33 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.42 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.91 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Both motion intensity and motion duration were worse than average. As a result, the overall motion transfer experience is also worse than average.
Response Test
The Aviya is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.4 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.63 seconds faster than the average of 1.03 seconds. These material recovery speeds are effectively instant and nearly tied for 1st with the fastest we’ve tested to date (just missing that mark by 0.1 seconds on the full material recovery speed test).
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The fast responsiveness helps ensure the mattress is easy to move around on, change positions on, and get in / out of bed. In addition, it’s fast enough that it will not create any type of “stuck” feeling on the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Aviya has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 11.02″. This is 2.36″ more bounce than the average of 8.66″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.58″
Max. Rebound
6.44″
Total Bounce
11.02″
The higher bounce level is a result of the highly resilient materials, limited sinkage depth, and highly buoyant feel of this mattress. These material and feel factors set the stage for a high level of energy rebound, which delivers greater bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The increased level of bounce helps to make the mattress easy to move around on, while also greatly improving sex performance. That being said, more bounce is a negative for motion transfer as well.
Edge Support Test
The Aviya has outstanding sitting edge support and good lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
2.00″
Lying Support
Good
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.00″. This is 1.85″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.85″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with a reinforced support foam that runs along the entire perimeter.
That foam is 3” wide, 8” tall, and has an ILD of 80 (ILD is an industry firmness rating, 55+ is considered very firm, so an 80 is exceedingly firm and supportive). That reinforcing foam clearly has a significant positive impact on edge support, especially for sitting.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

That being said, I did not feel that lying support was quite as impressive. The mattress cover has a slight curvature of the material along the cover. That curvature weakened the support experience while lying near the edge.
To be clear, it’s still a perfectly fine level of edge support for lying, but I think it’s fair to say it doesn’t rise to the excellent or outstanding level.
Sex Test
The Aviya has excellent sex performance. First, let’s start with the things Aviya does best, which include creating minimal noise and having outstanding edge support. In our sitting edge test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of just 2.0”.

That’s significantly better than average and means we have a robust and highly supportive edge, thereby increasing the usable surface area of the mattress.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 9.4 | Very High |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
| Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
In addition, the bounce measured very high at 11.02”. This is significantly better than the average bounce. When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better as more bounce makes sex easier, less tiring, and less strenuous.
Finally, cooling is excellent and pressure relief is good. While there is some room for improvement, overall sex performance on the Aviya is fantastic and I expect most sleepers will find it more than satisfactory
Pressure Relief Test
The Aviya has a good level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt a slight level of pressure along my body.
Comfort Layer
4.25″
Support Layer
7.25″
In my view, the pressure is coming from the highly resilient, buoyant, and floating feel that this mattress delivers. The Aviya has very minimal sinkage at just 1.68”. That’s considerably less than average, meaning that the mattress floats the body more “on” the mattress instead of sinking down “in” the mattress.
While some sleepers do indeed prefer this feel, in my view, for most sleepers, this buoyant feel limits the overall pressure relief experience and comfort on the mattress.

The mattress is equipped with 4.25″ of comfort material, which is 0.13″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.38″, based on all of our tests to date. Having less comfort material than average is certainly not what we want to see (especially at these density levels).
The firmer feel and highly resilient pocketed coil unit pushes back significantly against sleeper bodies. As a result, I could constantly feel the impact of the coils, despite 4.25″ of foam between my body and the coils.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.39 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.27 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.23 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be good.
Off-Gassing Test
The Aviya had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 7 days. This is 0.6 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.6 days.
Initial Smell Strength

Company
Aviya mattresses come with a 100-night trial period and a 10-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|

| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 10 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |

Comparing 120+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 196 nights, 85 nights more than Aviya offers. The average warranty is 13 years, which is 3 years more than this mattress.
It’s important to note that this excludes the 42% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.

How firm is Aviya?
The Aviya mattress is available in three different firmness options—Plush, Luxury Firm, and Firm. We did not test the Plush or Firm options personally, but I will give an estimated firmness rating based on our tests of the luxury firm version.
Plush
For the Plush option, I estimate that it has a medium firmness that is a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.

Luxury Firm
The Luxury Firm option was the version we used in our tests, and it has a slightly firm feel that I rate as a 7 out of 10.

I will add, this is notably firmer than the medium feel (5.5 out of 10) that the brand describes the firmness as. If you are looking for that medium feel, I would recommend going with the Plush version instead of the Luxury Firm version.
Firm
Finally, I estimate the Firm option to have a solid firm feel that is an 8 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Aviya is good. During our tests, I felt well supported on my stomach and back, but not on my side. While lying on my side, the mattress simply didn’t allow for enough sinkage to bring the hips into alignment with the rest of the body.
As a result, there was greater pressure point build-up, resulting in discomfort and weakened support.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 3.50″ |
| Support Layer | 8.00″ |
| Firmness | Slightly Firm |
| Body Contour | Slight |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer. This is 0.02″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.98″, based on all of our tests to date. Mattresses that create the best support do so by creating a neutral spinal alignment and sufficient pressure relief.
The Aviya’s very minimal sinkage depth, buoyant, floating feel, and slightly firm feel create a neutral spinal alignment on the back and stomach, but not on the side. In addition, these feel factors aren’t able to deliver enough pressure relief and comfort, in my view.

This mattress is available in three firmness levels: plush, luxury firm, and firm. We tested the luxury firm and found it has a slightly firm feel, 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
This slightly firm feel is better for back and stomach sleepers, but not ideal for side sleepers. Most primary side sleepers should opt for the plush model.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Plush Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Luxury Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
Firm Version
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
In all mattress tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open to assess the material quality. In doing so, we found foam density levels ranging from 1.84 to 2.02 PCF. These density levels are fine, but also not amazing. They are about what I expect for a hybrid mattress at this price point.

That being said, poly foams at this density level make me concerned for the long-term durability of the mattress. Lastly, this mattress uses zoned support.
Lastly, the center third of the mattress has reinforced coils in a honeycomb pattern. Zoned support helps to improve support and reduce sagging.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Aviya to be good.
Design
The Aviya is an 11.50″ hybrid mattress that comes in three firmness options—plush, luxury firm, and firm. These three firmness levels are currently the only options available in the Aviya collection.

The Cover
The Aviya has a 1.5″ quilted cover. It contains a breathable fabric and what the brand describes as “cooling foam”. There is a loop stitching pattern that gives the mattress a traditional look, while the sides are reinforced with a thicker grey fabric for durability.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 4.25″ thick, including the quilted cover. Beneath the cover, there is a 1.75″ poly foam followed by a secondary 1.0″ poly foam layer.

This provides three different layers that work together to provide a complete comfort dynamic.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 7.25″ thick and made of a 7.0″ pocketed coil system followed by a 0.25″ support foam base.

The support coils are zoned and the mattress has reinforced edge support where there is a thick foam layer between the coils and the edge of the mattress.
Product Evolution
Aviya has been around since 2015. That being said, their collection still remains fairly shallow, only featuring one mattress (offered in three firmness levels).
Since its release, there have been no major changes made to the mattress that we are aware of.
