Our Verdict
Comparing Casper and Brooklyn Bedding, both are well-known brands that produce high-quality mattresses. Both brands produce hybrid and memory foam hybrid mattresses. Casper also has a poly foam mattress and Brooklyn Bedding has a memory foam mattress.
Casper has a firmness range between Soft (4.5) and Medium-Firm (6.5) and Brooklyn Bedding has a wider spread from Soft (4) – Firm (8). If you’re specifically looking for a firm feel, Brooklyn Bedding will be the better buy.
But dollar for dollar, Casper is the lower-priced option. The average cost of a Casper mattress is $1,771, and the average cost of a Brooklyn Bedding is $1,199. Both brands are considered high-value picks, but Brooklyn Bedding is the far more affordable option.
Casper also has the lower overall performance average between the two. Casper’s average overall score is 8.49, and Brooklyn Bedding’s average overall score is 8.69.
For reference, the average score across all 390+ mattresses tested to date is 8.53. This means that Casper generally scores slightly below average, and Brooklyn Bedding mattresses score above average.

Which Mattress Should You Buy?
The mattresses earning the title for “best overall” from each brand have the highest overall performance. Overall performance is determined by scores from 8 different categories including cooling, motion transfer, response time, edge support, sex performance, pressure relief, off-gassing, and company.
Sinkage and bounce are also taken into consideration, but they are not direct scoring factors.
Between Casper and Brooklyn Bedding, the two top recommendations are Casper Dream Max and Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe.
Best Casper
Casper Dream Max

Type: Hybrid
Firmness: Soft (4.5)
The Casper Dream Max is a 13.5″ hybrid mattress with three types of poly foam, pocketed coils, and a support foam base. It has a soft feel with deep sinkage and very high bounce. Its performance score of 8.73 ranks it well-above average but only within the top 43% of all mattresses. However, its price of $2,470 is 66% higher than average. It excels in response time and sex performance, making it a great option for sleepers who enjoy a soft mattress with a lively-feeling surface
Best Brooklyn Bedding
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

Type: Hybrid
Firmness: Soft (4), Medium-Firm (6), Firm (8)
The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is a 13.25″ hybrid mattress with a quilted cover, poly foam comfort layer, pocketed coil support, and a support foam base. It has a soft feel with moderate sinkage and moderate bounce. This mattress performs among the top 6% of all mattresses tested to date, while also being a good value—$1,699 for a queen. In our performance tests, the Aurora Luxe earned a 10/10 for Cooling and Pressure Relief, making it a great option for sleepers of all sleeping positions and most body weights as well.
These two options are the best from each brand, but they offer sleepers a different sleeping experience in a number of ways.
If you’re looking for a high-performance hybrid that is suitable for the full range of sleeping positions, I’d recommend Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe. Both mattresses offer a Soft feel (4), but the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is also available in a Medium-Firm (6) and Firm (8) feel. The medium-firm option offers 10/10 pressure relief in back, stomach, and side sleeping positions.
If your focus is more on side sleeping, I’d recommend Casper Dream Max, due to its sole firmness option of 4 out of 10. Its zoned support and 4.5″ comfort layer make it well-suited for sleepers of all weights.
The Aurora Luxe has the advantage in most performance categories, such as Cooling, Motion Transfer, Edge Support, Pressure Relief, and Off-Gassing. One major benefit of the Casper Dream Max is its near-perfect sex score (9.7), which is significantly better than the Aurora Luxe.
From a performance perspective, the Casper Dream Max (8.73) is significantly lower than the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe (9.24). Furthermore, the price of the Dream Max ($2,470) is also much higher than the Aurora Luxe ($1,699) by roughly $771.
Overall, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is the more affordable option with significantly better, more well-rounded performance.

Firmness
Looking at all available mattresses we’ve tested, Casper ranges in firmness from 4.5 to 6 out of 10, and Brooklyn Bedding mattresses range from 4 to 8 out of 10.
This means that for those looking for a particularly firm mattress, Casper is not the brand for them. Brooklyn Bedding has two models with firm options at an 8 out of 10 on the firmness range.
When it comes to soft options, each brand has at least one model that should fit the bill, and these include their top-performing options — the Casper Dream Max and Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe.
Check the table below to see the details of each mattress.
| Firmness | Rating | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| Casper Cloud One | 6 | Medium-Firm |
| Casper One | 6 | Medium-Firm |
| Casper Dream | 6 | Medium-Firm |

| Brooklyn Bedding Sedona | 5 | Medium |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 4, 6, 8 | Soft, Medium-Firm, Firm |
Not sure which firmness you need? Your ideal mattress firmness depends on two major factors—sleeping position and body weight. With the right firmness, your body and spine will maintain proper alignment when sleeping.

Lightweight sleepers or those who sleep on their side tend to need a softer mattress. By comparison, heavier sleepers or those who sleep on their back or stomach tend to need more support and a firmer feel.

Cooling Test
First, let’s dive into cooling performance. When it comes to cooling, Casper and Brooklyn Bedding are nearly identical.
Both brands have an average cooling performance of 9.0 in our mini comparison of popular models. Each brand has a model that scored a good rating (8.0), one that scored an excellent (9.0), and one that scored exceptionally (10).
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding cooling.
| Cooling Test | Score | Baseline | Max. Temp. | Ending Temp. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 8.0 | 73.1° | 89.6° | 79.7° |
| Casper Dream | 9.0 | 75.0° | 90.0° | 79.7° |
| Casper Snow | 10 | 73.8° | 88.1° | 78.2° |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 8.0 | 76.9° | 90.3° | 81.1° |

| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 9.0 | 71.6° | 88.8° | 77.8° |
- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (after 5 minutes) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Below, you can watch a video of how the heat dissipates on each mattress during our cooling test. For this test, we lie on the mattress for 15 minutes, get off the mattress, and then take periodic surface-level temperature measurements.
Casper One
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex
Casper Dream
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
Casper Snow
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The average cooling score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6.
True to its name, the best mattress for cooling from Casper was the Casper Snow. This model is equipped with phase change fibers in its cover and a phase change foam in the top layer of foam. They’ve also placed “heat-delete” bands lower in the foam layers to pull heat away from the surface.

For Brooklyn Bedding, its best mattress for cooling was the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe. This mattress also uses phase change material that keeps the surface feeling “cool-to-the-touch,” as well as opting for quality poly foam over memory foam. Those elements combined with the hybrid design are hugely beneficial to breathability.
Both Casper and Brooklyn Bedding are highly competent at creating mattresses with superior cooling features. In both cases, you’ll need to pay more for it, as the cheaper mattresses from both brands ended up with the lowest cooling performance.
Sinkage Test
Sinkage is a preferential factor, but it can inform sleepers on the type of feel a mattress offers beyond the simple firmness rating. When it comes to the 6 mattresses in this mini comparison, both brands offer extremely similar options.
On average, Casper and Brooklyn Bedding have an average sinkage measurement of 2.00″ and 2.01″, respectively.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sinkage.
| Sinkage Test | Sinkage Feel | Sinkage Depth |
|---|---|---|
| Casper One | Minimal | 1.77″ |
| Casper Dream | Minimal | 1.89″ |
| Casper Snow | Deep | 2.36″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | Moderate | 2.07″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | Moderate | 2.04″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | Minimal | 1.92″ |
The level of sinkage for each mattress is documented in the images below.
Casper One

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex

Casper Dream

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

Casper Snow

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid

The average sinkage depth across all mattresses tested to date is 2.23″.
Back and stomach sleepers usually prefer less sinkage, which better maintains proper alignment of their spine. The Casper One (1.77″), Casper Dream (1.89″), Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex (2.07″), Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe (2.04″), and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid (1.92″) all have less sinkage than average.

Generally, side sleepers enjoy a deeper level of sinkage, as that typically translates to better pressure relief and contour. For deeper sinkage, opt for the Casper Snow (2.36″). The 3.00″ of quality memory foam is both pressure-relieving and will let heavier body parts sink lower to help achieve a neutral spinal alignment.
Motion Transfer Test
When it comes to motion transfer, both Casper and Brooklyn Bedding have roughly the same level of performance.
Across the 3 popular mattresses in this deep dive, Casper has an average motion transfer score of 8.2. Brooklyn Bedding has an average motion transfer score of 8.1.
This is a common category for mattresses to struggle with. These scores are not awful, but they aren’t amazing either.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding motion transfer.
| Motion Transfer Test | Score | Acc. Range |
|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 8.0 | 9.42 m/s² |
| Casper Dream | 8.0 | 9.48 m/s² |
| Casper Snow | 8.7 | 7.95 m/s² |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 8.3 | 8.79 m/s² |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | 8.2 | 9.06 m/s² |

The level of motion transfer on each mattress is also documented in the videos below.
Casper One
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex
Casper Dream
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
Casper Snow
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The average motion transfer score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.2.
By this measure, Casper is exactly average, while Brooklyn Bedding just misses the average level.
The Casper Snow is the best among the 6 mattresses with an 8.7 score. It benefits from all memory foam in its comfort layer, which increases energy dispersal.

The best among the Brooklyn Bedding models is the CopperFlex with a slightly-above-average score of 8.3. Its all-foam design led me to believe it would perform better, but sometimes a tighter cover can end up pulling or transferring motion even when the foam layers would dissipate it.
Ultimately, I wouldn’t say motion transfer is either brand’s strong suit. However, I wouldn’t steer anyone away from Casper or Brooklyn Bedding for these scores. Only the most sensitive sleepers would have an issue with the level of motion measured on these models.
Response Test
When it comes to response time, we start to see a large difference between the two brands.
In this case, Brooklyn Bedding had an average response time score of 9.3, while Casper earned an average score of 9.3.
But this isn’t the whole story, as we can see two of the Casper models scored the best among the group.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding response.
| Response Test | Score | Mostly Recovered | Completely Recovered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 9.9 | 0.2 seconds | 0.4 seconds |
| Casper Dream | 9.9 | 0.2 seconds | 0.4 seconds |

| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | 9.6 | 0.2 seconds | 0.7 seconds |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 9.8 | 0.2 seconds | 0.5 seconds |
The level of responsiveness for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
Casper One
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex
Casper Dream
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
Casper Snow
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The average response score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.8.
If we look at the individual models, Casper had an extremely slow mattress that lowered the brand’s average, whereas Brooklyn Bedding’s mattresses all performed consistently.
The Casper Snow was glacially slow compared to all of the other models in this comparison. You can easily watch how slowly the foam recovers back to its original shape in the video above. The memory foam they used is uniquely sluggish compared to the Casper One and Casper Dream, which are both lightning fast.

For Brooklyn Bedding, the Aurora Luxe and Signature Hybrid models are just about as quick as those Caspers. The slowest model of their 3 is the CopperFlex, whose memory foam design and quality level seem to slow it down.
Ultimately, Brooklyn Bedding takes the win for having the most consistent fast material response time. Casper models can certainly be as quick, but their higher-end mattresses may use a different, much slower material.
Bounce Test
Bounce is another preferential factor, and it can inform a mattress’s overall ease of movement. Here, Casper is the clear bouncier mattress brand.
On average, the Casper mattresses had a recorded bounce height of 9.68″, with a range from 8.77″ to 10.73″.
For Brooklyn Bedding, they had an average bounce height of 8.36″ and a range from 5.49″ to 10.63″.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding bounce.
| Bounce Test | Bounce Feel | Bounce Height |
|---|---|---|
| Casper One | Moderate | 8.77″ |
| Casper Dream | High | 10.73″ |
| Casper Snow | Moderate | 9.54″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | Very Low | 5.49″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | Moderate | 8.96″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | High | 10.63″ |
The level of bounce for each mattress is documented in the videos below.
Casper One
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex
Casper Dream
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
Casper Snow
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The average bounce across all mattresses tested to date is 8.77″.
Mattresses with more bounce than average include the Casper Dream (10.73″), Casper Snow (9.54″), Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe (8.96″), and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid (10.63″). These are all hybrid designs that create a lively feeling surface.

The models with less bounce than average include the Casper One (8.77″) and the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex (5.49″). These two are both all-foam models that we can expect to see lower bounce from. They create an energy-absorbing surface that many sleepers look for in a mattress.
Mattresses with more bounce are better for ease of movement and increase sex performance. However, higher bounce also typically creates a higher level of motion transfer. So there are pros and cons when it comes to bounce.
Edge Support Test
Now let’s talk about edge support. For this category, Brooklyn Bedding barely edges out a win over Casper.
The average edge support score for Brooklyn Bedding is 9.0, where the average score for Casper is 8.8.
This is an assessment of both sitting edge compression and a subjective rating while lying at the edge.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding edge support.
| Edge Support Test | Score | Sitting Sinkage | Lying Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 8.2 | 3.50″ | Fair |
| Casper Dream | 8.9 | 4.00″ | Excellent |
| Casper Snow | 9.4 | 3.25″ | Excellent |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 8.6 | 3.75″ | Good |

The level of edge support is documented in the images below.

Casper Snow

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid

The average edge support score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.7.
Once again, the Casper Snow distinguishes itself as the top model in this mini comparison. Its dense foams in the comfort layer, combined with a reinforced perimeter support foam, create an excellent edge for both sitting and lying.

For Brooklyn Bedding, both its Aurora Luxe and Signature Hybrid models earned a 9.2 score. The brand equipped both models with thicker perimeter coils than the rest of the mattress to reinforce the edge.
Once again, we see that both brands can competently create a mattress at the highest level, but one will need to pay for the upper tiers in order to get it.
Sex Test
When it comes to sex performance, Casper takes a decisive win over Brooklyn Bedding.
Casper has an average sex performance score of 8.8, whereas Brooklyn Bedding only earned an average of 8.3.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding sex.
| Sex Test | Sex Score | Bounce | Edge Support | Noise | Pressure Relief | Cooling |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 8.3 | 8.0 | 9.4 | 10 | 6.0 | 8.0 |
| Casper Dream | 9.1 | 9.2 | 8.8 | 10 | 8.0 | 9.0 |
| Casper Snow | 8.9 | 8.5 | 9.7 | 10 | 9.0 | 10 |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 7.0 | 5.9 | 9.1 | 10 | 9.0 | 8.0 |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | 8.6 | 8.1 | 9.4 | 10 | 10 | 10 |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 9.2 | 9.1 | 9.4 | 10 | 9.0 | 9.0 |
The average sex score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.2.
By this score, only the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex performed worse than average.
The best mattress for sex among these 6 models is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. Its surface is bouncy, its edge is ultra-supportive, and it checks the other boxes across our weighted sex formula.

Casper’s best model was the Casper Dream. Its minimal sinkage, less-than-average comfort layer, and reinforced edge foam make for a springy surface that is won’t collapse with heavy use at the edge.
The Casper models are better designed for higher sex performance, but both brands are more than suitable for amorous activities.
Pressure Relief Test
When it comes to pressure relief, Brooklyn Bedding stands out as the clear winner in this comparison.
Its three models averaged a pressure relief score of 9.3, with the lowest scoring model at 9.0.
For Casper, they averaged a pressure relief score of 7.7, with a range from 6.0 to 9.0.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding pressure relief.
| Pressure Relief Test | Score | Comfort Layer | Support Layer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 6.0 | 3.00″ | 7.00″ |
| Casper Dream | 8.0 | 3.00″ | 8.50″ |
| Casper Snow | 9.0 | 3.00″ | 8.50″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 9.0 | 7.00″ | 6.00″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | 10 | 4.25″ | 9.00″ |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 9.0 | 4.00″ | 8.00″ |
The average pressure relief score across all mattresses tested to date is 8.6.
The best mattress among these 6 is the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe ($1,699) with a score of 10/10. Its 5-layer design is both thicker than average as well as extremely high quality. It includes a balanced contouring hug that does not overly envelop one’s body.
The best mattress from Casper is the Casper Snow (2, which achieves an excellent level of pressure relief with less comfort material than average. It includes 3″ of memory foam and zoned support for more nuanced pushback where one’s body needs it.
When you compare the brand’s material images, a clear pattern emerges — Casper models are much thinner than Brooklyn Bedding.
The materials included in each mattress are documented in the images below.
Casper One

Bigger/thicker designs don’t always equate to better performance, but they are often a good indication of it. Pressure relief relies on a balance of comfort, support, and the ability to achieve a neutral spinal alignment.
More material layers allow for one’s body to find that sweet spot between variables, where thinner designs can be limiting. As you see with the CopperFlex, quality is just as important as quantity, as this $500 model lacks the premium materials seen in the Snow and Aurora Luxe.

The Casper One demonstrates a lack of both quantity and quality, thus earning a pressure relief score of 6.0.
In the end, we see that the higher-end Casper models deliver good, even great pressure relief. However, Brooklyn Bedding is far more affordable and achieves top-tier pressure relief at a lower price.
Off-Gassing Test
Next, let’s talk about the smell intensity and duration after unboxing each of these mattress brands.
Again, Brooklyn Bedding takes the win for the lowest length of time to complete off-gassing. They averaged an off-gassing score of 8.1, with their average smell duration being 7.0 days.
The Casper models fared worse. We measured an average smell duration of the Casper mattresses at 13.3 days – nearly a week longer than Brooklyn Bedding.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding off-gassing.
| Off-Gassing Test | Score | Initial Smell | Smell Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casper One | 6.7 | Strong | 12 days |
| Casper Dream | 7.8 | Strong | 8 days |
| Casper Snow | 4.4 | Strong | 20 days |
| Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex | 7.5 | Strong | 9 days |
| Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe | 8.9 | Strong | 4 days |
| Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid | 7.8 | Strong | 8 days |
The average smell duration across all mattresses tested to date is 7.1 days.
Based on this benchmark, Brooklyn Bedding is simply average in terms of off-gassing, whereas Casper is solidly worse than both. The Casper Snow was easily the slowest on this list, and this was likely due to the spray-on phase change material used in the middle layers.

Casper’s quickest mattress to off-gas was the Casper Dream at 8 days. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe was the quickest at 4 days. Its use of poly foam over memory foam was likely a large reason why it dissipated quickly than average.
This is one of the lowest-weighted categories in our test because it becomes a non-issue after it completes off-gassing. However, having to put up with offensive, synthetic odors for excessive periods, as we saw with the Casper Snow, is bothersome enough for some sleepers to start to avoid.
Company
Finally, we’re rounding off this comparison with a discussion of each brand’s company policies. Here, Casper comes out ahead, due to one important factor.
Casper offers sleepers a 100-night trial period, a 10-year warranty, free shipping, and free returns.
Brooklyn Bedding offers sleepers a 120-night trial period, a 10-year warranty, free shipping. However, if you’d like to make a return, they charge a fee of $99. Most companies fold the cost of the occasional return into the upfront price, so it’s rare and generally unpalletable to encounter a return fee.
Check out the table below to see how each mattress compares regarding company policies.
| Company | Casper | Brooklyn Bedding |

To date, we have tested 391+ mattresses from 103 different brands. The average trial length is 175 nights, and the average warranty is 14 years, excluding 42% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.
Compared to these averages, Casper offers fair and attractive terms to consumers, while Brooklyn Bedding is similar, except that it includes a somewhat unsightly return fee.
