No, the Avocado Green (standard version) would not be considered hot for most sleepers as it scored a 9.0 out of 10 in our cooling test. This is a great score and slightly above the average across all mattresses we’ve tested to date (8.7).
However, the optional upgrades to the Avocado Green add extra layers of latex foam. This foam can increase how hot the mattress feels. The Pillow Top Version we tested had noticeably worse cooling performance than its thinner counterpart.
Cooling Test | Score | Baseline | Max Temp | Ending Temp |
---|---|---|---|---|
Avocado Eco | 9.0 | 81.2° | 89.6° | 82.6° |
Avocado Green | 9.0 | 81.2° | 90.5° | 82.4° |
Avocado Green Pillow Top | 8.0 | 75.0° | 92.9° | 82.7° |
The Avocado Green mattress has a quilted cover and 2.0″ of comfort material before diving into the 8.0″ support layer of pocketed coils.

This helps to limit heat retention and keep the mattress cool while you sleep, as you can see in our cooling test images below.
For this test, we lie on the mattress for 5 minutes and then get off, documenting temperature changes for the following 5 minutes after the test.
