How is Logan & Cove Frontier Different?
The Logan & Cove Frontier hybrid has better-than-average overall performance and a price point that is below average, a savings of 30% compared to the average hybrid mattress (C$547 on a queen mattress).
Advantages
Advantages of the Frontier hybrid include better cooling performance, better edge support, and better pressure relief as well. The mattress is 13″ thick, 1″ thicker than the average 12″ thickness.
The mattress also comes with a 365-night trial period, which is much longer than the average trial length (176 nights).
Neutral Factors
This mattress has deep sinkage and moderate levels of bounce, while retaining a balanced contour. Material response time is a bit of a neutral factor since the “mostly recovered” time was faster than average, but the “fully recovered” time was slower than average.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages include higher levels of motion transfer and a lower sex score. It’s not to say that it’s horrible for couples by any stretch, but it does have slightly less bounce than average and also slightly less supportive edge support.
These two factors alone can kill the sex score and really put a damper on performance in that area.

Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Logan & Cove Frontier is excellent. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
79.4° F
Max Temp.
89.4° F
Ending Temp.
79.3° F
The hybrid design by itself creates great airflow. However, the inclusion of the microcoil layer within the comfort layer further increases airflow, providing an air gap between layers of poly foam.
This air gap microcoil layer helps bring increased airflow into the comfort layer.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 89.4° F, which is 0.3° cooler than the average of 89.7°.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we look at the complete picture of objective data, subjective experience, and material analysis, I’m confident most sleepers will find the Logan and Cove Frontier to be more than sufficient for cooling.
Sinkage Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has a deep level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.53”. This is 0.40” more sinkage than the average of 2.13”, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.53″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
The deeper sinkage means there is more material wrapping around the body. However, the mattress doesn’t create a dramatic body contouring hug like many memory foams and other mattresses with a similar sinkage depth.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The materials within the comfort layers compress fairly easily, which makes sense given that one of those layers is a microcoil layer. This dynamic creates a sort of fluffy cloud-like comfort and a balanced body contouring hug as the body is transitioned into the support layers.
Motion Transfer Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured 10.80 m/s² of acceleration range. This is 23% more motion transfer than the average of 8.76 m/s², based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Acceleration
5.62 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-5.18 m/s²
Accel. Range
10.80 m/s²
The same material and design attributes that are helping to improve cooling are having a detrimental effect on motion transfer. The microcoil layer and comfort foams allow for a deeper level of sinkage.
When it comes to motion, this means your body can more easily and quickly sink into the mattress, coming into greater contact with the coil unit, which creates higher motion.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.15 seconds.
Motion remains spikey until 0.72 seconds and by 0.80 seconds we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy.
Neither the motion peaks nor motion duration are especially great. Even so, the Frontier’s motion isn’t bad by any stretch either.

Response Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has a fast material response, but it’s also not instant. During our mostly recovered test, we measured 0.3 seconds to rebound back to shape. This is 0.11 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.2 sec.
During our fully recovered test, we measured 1.2 seconds to rebound back to shape. This is 0.3 seconds slower than the average of 0.9 seconds. These material responsiveness speeds are a bit of a mixed bag.
On one hand, being mostly recovered within 0.3 seconds is great and it really doesn’t get much better than that. However, the 1.2 seconds to fully recover is another story.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The mattresses with the fastest recovery speeds rebound back to shape within 0.3 seconds. At 1.2 seconds we’re slower than the average of 0.9 seconds and no matter how you slice it it’s not ideal.
Even so, for a majority of sleepers I don’t expect response speeds at these levels will be a problem. However, for highly sensitive sleepers it could cause the mattress to feel more difficult to move around on.
Bounce Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has a moderate level of bounce. During our tests, we measured 8.22” of total bounce height. This is 1.41” less bounce than the average of 9.63”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.45″
Max. Rebound
2.77″
Total Bounce
8.22″
Ideally, I like to see 8-12” of bounce, and the Frontier is within this range, but only barely. More bounce improves sex and ease of movement. However, it’s also detrimental to motion transfer.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Having the relatively lower bounce is definitely helping to keep motion in check, but it’s also the primary reason why sex performance is only good, but far from amazing.
Edge Support Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has excellent edge support. During our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.25”. This is 0.76” less sitting sinkage than the average of 4.01”.
Max Sinkage
3.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
While sitting directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported and there was no collapse of materials. Lying edge support is equally as impressive.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The Frontier uses quality foams and coils at every level, while helping to improve edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

In addition, the mattress uses reinforced coils along the perimeter of the mattress to further reinforce edge support. Overall, I’m pleased with edge support performance and I don’t expect this will be an issue for most sleepers.
Sex Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has good sex performance, but it doesn’t rise to the “excellent” or “outstanding” level.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 7.6 | Moderate |
Edge Support | 20% | 9.7 | Excellent |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
When it comes to sex the Frontier is afflicted by a single issue, insufficient bounce. The mattress has just 8.22” of bounce, which is notably lower than the average of 9.63”, and even lower than our ideal bounce height for sex, which is 10” or greater.

The lower bounce coupled with deeper sinkage makes for more strenuous and difficult amorous activity. On the positive side, edge support, pressure relief, and cooling were all excellent and noise was minimal.
All that to say, the dance without pants performance isn’t bad by any stretch. Even so, the lower bounce does suppress the performance relative to many mattresses with a higher level of bounce.
Pressure Relief Test
The Logan & Cove Frontier has excellent pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure point build-up anywhere on my body. The mattress has a thick 4.0” comfort layer, which is just a touch thinner than the average comfort layer of 4.1” (based on all of our tests to date).
Comfort Layer
4.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
While the 1.0” microcoil layer does more for cooling than it does for pressure relief, having it included within the comfort layer is certainly better than not being included. The top cover on the Frontier is plusher and allows body weight to sink through fairly easily.
In addition, the contouring hug isn’t as dramatic as an exclusive memory foam is going to be.
The hug is quite balanced around the body and reminds me of a more traditional mattress.
The deep level of sinkage facilitated by the microcoil layer allows for pressure relief, without excessively contouring the body, providing for easy movement.
In our pressure mapping test we measured a max PSI of 1.33. And even this level was only seen in one small area on the hip while lying on my side. Back and stomach sleeping pressure was even lower. PSI at or near 2.0 is considered a high pressure point and the Frontier is no where near those levels.
Overall, I expect most sleepers will be happy with the pressure relief dynamic.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.18 | 1.33 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.1 | 1.04 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.11 | 0.99 |
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Logan & Cove Frontier is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 7 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
7 days

Compared to the average off-gassing duration, the Frontier is right at the average. This may be an in issue for sensitive sleepers, but shouldn’t be a deal breaker for most sleepers.
Company
Logan & Cove offers a 365-night trial period and 15-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |

Trust | 50% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Country of Origin | 0% | Canada |
Comparing over 250+ mattresses tested to date, 24% have lifetime warranties and the average of the other 76% of mattresses is 13 years. By this standard, both the trial and warranty are longer than average.
How firm is Logan & Cove Frontier?
The Logan & Cove has a firmness of 5 out of 10 and a medium feel.

It is slightly softer than the 5.5 firmness from the original version of the Frontier we tested in 2023.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Logan & Cove Frontier is excellent. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
The mattress is built with robust, high-quality foams, pocketed coils, and microcoils. The support layer is 9.0”, which is 1.2” thicker than the average of 7.8”.

A thicker support layer is typically able to support greater weights. In addition, the pocketed coil base is a zoned unit, meaning it creates additional support where you have extra weight, allowing for a more neutral spinal alignment.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Given the medium feel, 4.0” comfort layer, and extra thick 9.0” pocketed coil base, I have great confidence in the overall support performance for the Frontier.

Materials
The Frontier is made up of five unique layers. The top four layers are dedicated to comfort materials and the bottom layer is exclusively for support. From top to bottom, the layers include:
- 1.0” quilted cover
- 1.0” memory foam
- 1.0” micro coils
- 1.0” poly foam
- 9.0” pocketed coils

The Law Tag outlines the full breakdown of materials included in this mattress.
- Materials
- Polyurethane Foam – Bio
- Polyester Fiber
- 86 Polyester
- 13 HDPE
- 1 Spandex
- Made in Canada
The Cover
The cover is knitted with a tight top. It has a 20 oz. hollow-fiber fill layer as well as 0.75″ quilted gel-infused foam. This is the same cover we see on the Logan & Cover Choice mattress.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is made up of three layers. There is a top foam, 1.0″ memory foam (teal), followed by a 1.0″ layer of pocketed microcoils. The transition layer falls below the coils and is a 1.0″ layer of poly foam.

The Support Layer
The support layer contains a 9.0″ pocketed coil unit where each coil is individually encased in a thin fabric.
This is a zoned coil system meaning that there are three different levels of support within the coil unit. Coils with more support are located in the middle of the mattress, while less supportive coils are found at the head and foot of the mattress.

Lastly, there is a non-woven fabric and 0.5″ polyfiber pad below the coils, immediately followed by a protective bottom panel.
The edges of the mattress are reinforced with a 4.0″ foam encasement. This foam provides support and helps limit noise from the coils.
