How is Logan & Cove Choice Different?
The Logan & Cove Choice is a Canadian hybrid with above-average performance and a below-average price—46% less than the average hybrid mattress.
Advantages
Along with a great price, other advantages of the Logan & Cove Choice include better cooling performance, better edge support (both when sitting and when lying), as well as slightly faster off-gassing.
In addition, this mattress has a 365-night trial period which is over twice as long as the average trial period.
Neutral Factors
Sinkage is deep and bounce level is moderate. Both sinkage and bounce are preferential and different sleepers may find they prefer different feels.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Logan & Cove Choice mattress include higher levels of motion transfer as well as only a 3.0″ comfort layer. The 3″ comfort layer is about 25% thinner than average.
That being said, the thinner comfort layer does not significantly negatively affect pressure relief. The average pressure relief score of 8.7 and the Logan & Cove Choice scored a 9.0.

Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Logan & Cove Choice is excellent. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
74.5° F
Max Temp.
90.2° F
Ending Temp.
79.7° F
The mattress seems to breathe well and there are no major cooling issues. The relatively thin 3.0” comfort layer definitely helps here, as thicker all-foam comfort layers (while better for pressure relief) can cause heat retention issues.
In addition, the extra thick 9.0” pocketed coil support layer provides ample airflow.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The gel memory foam, a relatively thin comfort layer, and the support coil base all combine together to aid in cooling performance.
In our objective data, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.2° F, which is 0.5° cooler than the average of 89.7°.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 5.0° from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.3° cooler than the average 0 to 1-minute decline of 4.7°.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the complete picture of objective data, subjective experience, and material analysis, I’m confident most sleepers will find cooling to be perfectly acceptable.
Sinkage Test
The Logan & Cove Choice has a deep level of sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.44”. This is 0.30” deeper sinkage than the average of 2.15”, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.44″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
The quilted cover and top foam layers are quite soft and plush. While the total firmness of the mattress is medium-firm, the top layers don’t put up much resistance to pressure.
This creates excellent pressure relief and comfort, but also allows the body to sink down more significantly into the mattress. The comfort layer is built from all poly foam. This fact, combined with the quilted cover, creates a more balanced type of hug.
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

It doesn’t as sharply contour to your body in the same way that a comfort layer with only memory foam is going to. This is neither good nor bad, but it is a specific feel.
Those who really love the dramatic hug of more traditional memory foam won’t love the feel as much, while those who have slept on other coil or hybrid mattresses will find the transition to Logan & Cove Choice easier to make.
Motion Transfer Test
The Logan & Cove Choice has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured an acceleration range of 11.25 m/s². This is 28% more motion transfer than the average of 8.78 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
5.79 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-5.46 m/s²
Accel. Range
11.25 m/s²
The relatively soft top comfort layers, responsive poly foam, and tall 9.0” pocketed coil unit all serve to create higher levels of motion. While these same design elements improve cooling, pressure relief, and sex, they aren’t doing any favors for motion.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion from 0 to 0.15 seconds. Motion drops thereafter, with a minor secondary spike at around 0.51 seconds. By 0.94 seconds motion has returned to near-zero levels.

While the total motion intensity is less than ideal, I was pleased with how quickly the mattress was able to dissipate the energy. Yes, we do see a secondary spike at 0.51 seconds, however, it’s quite small.
For most sleepers, the only significant motion event will be that initial spike that lasts for around 0.15 seconds. Overall, I’m happy with the recorded motion transfer on the Logan & Cove Choice and I don’t expect it will be an issue for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Logan & Cove Choice has a very fast material response. During our mostly recovered test, we measured 0.3 seconds for the mattress to rebound back to shape. This is 0.11 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.0 sec.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
During our fully recovered test, we measured 1.0 seconds for the mattress to rebound back to shape. This is 0.10 seconds slower than the average of 0.90 seconds.
These response speeds are far from instant, but they aren’t slow either. For most sleepers, material recovery speeds at these levels will be plenty fast enough to avoid any type of a stuck feeling.
Bounce Test
Logan & Cove Choice has a moderate level of bounce. During our tests, we measured 8.93” of total bounce height. This is 0.70” less bounce than the average of 9.51”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth

Max. Rebound

Total Bounce

Bounce Rebound
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce is helping to reduce motion transfer. However, it’s also impacting sex performance. For the best sex performance, I like to see 10” or more bounce.
The Choice isn’t quite at that level, but it’s still enough to create sufficient bounce for amorous activities and ease of movement, while not being so high as to create significant problems for motion transfer. All that to say, I don’t expect bounce will be a major issue for most sleepers.
Edge Support Test
The Logan & Cove Choice has outstanding edge support for sitting and excellent lying edge support. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured just 2.5” of sitting sinkage compression. This is 1.52” less sitting sinkage than the average of 4.05”, based on all of our tests to date.
Max Sinkage
2.50″
Lying Support
Excellent
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Even while sitting directly on the edge the mattress maintains strong support and there is no collapse of materials.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

Edge support while lying wasn’t quite as impressive, but it was still excellent. While lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Notably, the top foam layers on the Choice are on the softer side, so you do sink through them pretty easily. However, there is only 3.0” of comfort material and then you’re supported by the 9.0” coil unit.
The coil unit is equipped with reinforced edge coils, which are having a notable impact for both sitting and lying edge support.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with this level of edge support performance. Given the price point, it’s all the more impressive.
Sex Test
The Logan & Cove Choice has good sex performance, but it’s also not exactly incredible.
On the positive side, the mattress creates minimal noises and has outstanding sitting edge support. Pressure relief and cooling are also excellent.
Where the Choice isn’t so incredible is the bounce, which we measured at 8.93”.

To be fair, this isn’t low by any standard. However, it’s also not high enough to push the Logan & Cove into the “excellent” or “outstanding” tier of amorous activity performance.
All that to say, the Choice mattress is perfectly adequate for the dance without pants, however, some may find the bounce holds it back a bit.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.1 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Pressure Relief Test
Pressure relief on the Logan & Cove Choice mattress is excellent. During our tests, I felt no significant level of pressure point build-up. The mattress did a fantastic job of remaining comfortable, even when lying in the same position for an extended period of time.
Comfort Layer
3.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
My only significant pressure relief concern is for heavier-weighted bodies, especially those 250 pounds and up. This mattress has a relatively thin comfort layer at 3.0” thick.
While the 3.0” of foam comfort material appears to be of high quality and was comfortable during our testing, 3.0” is still on the thinner side. Based on all of our tests to date, we see an average comfort layer thickness of 4.1”.

While the thinner profile is likely to be perfectly fine for lighter and more moderate-weighted bodies, for heavier-weighted sleepers I could see pressure becoming an issue.
This is simply because heavier bodies will sink through the 3.0” layer and engage more with the support coil unit.

Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing on the Logan & Cove Choice hybrid is strong right out of the box and the odor lasted for 5 days.
Initial Smell Strength

The average of all 270+ mattresses tested to date is 6.5 days so the Choice hybrid off-gasses slightly faster than average.

How firm is Logan & Cove Choice?
The Logan & Cove Choice hybrid has a firmness level of 6 out of 10 and a medium-firm feel. A firmness at this level is hugely popular and preferred by a wide range of sleepers, providing a balance of both comfort and support.

Support & Sleeping Positions
The Logan & Cove Choice has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions. From a material and design perspective, the mattress checks most of the boxes I look for.
We have a 12” total profile (average is 12.0”) and 9” support coil unit (average is 7.9”). The pocketed coil unit has 5 zones, helping to create a more neutral spinal alignment.

In addition, it has reinforced edges, improving your ability to sleep near the absolute edge of the mattress.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
While coil count isn’t everything, the Logan & Cove does have 1,200 individually wrapped coils (King size).
When I look at the complete picture of material design and overall support performance based on our battery of tests, I am pleased with what I see.
I expect the vast majority of sleepers will find the level of support to be more than sufficient.

Materials
This mattress has four main layers that make up the total thickness of the mattress. From top to bottom, these layers include:
- 1.0” quilted cover
- 1.0” memory foam
- 1.0” poly foam
- 9.0” pocketed coils

The Law Tag outlines the full breakdown of materials included in this mattress.
- Materials
- Polyester Fiber
- Polyurethane Foam – Bio
- 86 Polyester
- 13 HDPE
- 1 Spandex
- Made in Canada
The Cover
The cover is knitted with a tight top. It has a 20oz hollow-fiber fill layer as well as 0.75″ quilted gel-infused foam. This is the same cover we see on the Logan & Cover Frontier mattress.

The cover is diamond stitched for a taut finish. The side panels of the Choice use a thicker fabric that is quilted. This mattress does not have handles on the side.
The Comfort Layer
Beneath the cover, we have the comfort layer. Two foams make up this layer, the first being a 1″ gel memory foam (blue) designed for improved cooling performance.

The second layer acts more like a transitional layer, providing a blend of comfort and support as sleepers ease into the traditional support layer below.
This traditional layer is a 1.0″ poly foam (white) and is located directly above the support layer.
The Support Layer
The support layer contains 9.0″ pocketed coils that are each individually encased in a thin fabric. There is a non-woven fabric and 0.5″ polyfiber pad below the coils, immediately followed by a protective bottom panel.

The edges of the mattress are reinforced with a 4.0″ foam encasement. This foam provides support and helps limit noise from the coils.
Product Evolution
The Logan and Cove Choice mattress was launched in mid-2023. We tested the original mattress in 2023 and then again in 2024 when a few changes were made.
Compared to the 2023 version, the 2024 version has the following changes:
- A thicker quilted cover (1.0″ total thickness)
- Slightly thinner transitional poly foam layer
- Thicker pocketed coils (9″ vs. 8″ on the 2023 version)
Specs | Logan & Cove Choice (2023) | Logan & Cove Choice (2024) |
---|---|---|
Thickness | 11″ | 12″ |
Cover | 0.5″ quilted cover | 1.0″ quilted cover |
Comfort Layer | 1.0″ gel poly foam 1.5″ poly foam | 1.0” memory foam 1.0” poly foam |
Support Layer | 8.0″ pocketed coils | 9.0″ pocketed coils |
Firmness | Medium-Firm (6) | Medium-Firm (6) |
Overall Score | 8.94 | 8.76 |
Despite the thicker materials, the overall score actually dropped a little compared to the 2023 performance score. The decrease in score is most likely due to the swapping of gel poly foam for gel memory foam.
The memory foam reduced the level of bounce, which negatively impacted the sex score. In addition, the memory foam also decreased material responsiveness. While the memory foam arguably improves pressure relief and comfort, it also has impacted bounce, sex, and response.
