Best For
- Fantastic edge support, when sitting or lying
- Value-priced, under $800 for a queen mattress
- Very low bounce, classic memory foam feel
Considerations
- Slow material response time
- Lower sex score, thanks largely to the low level of bounce
- Cooling performance is good, but not great
Our Verdict
The DreamCloud Classic mattress is a 12″ memory foam mattress made of memory foam, transitional poly foam, and a support foam base. It doesn’t contain any coils.
To clarify, this is a test and review on the all foam DreamCloud Classic memory foam mattress. If you’re interested in the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid see our review here.
The DreamCloud Classic is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm. This firmness is well-suited for a wide range of sleepers and sleeping positions.
This mattress has moderate sinkage and very low levels of bounce. If you are looking for that classic memory foam feel, the DreamCloud Classic checks a lot of boxes in terms of material feel.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.06, ranking the mattress in the bottom 17% of all mattresses tested to date. If we narrow our point of reference to only include memory foam mattresses, the rank rises to the bottom 41% of all memory foam mattresses.
But what it lacks in performance, you could say it makes up for in price. The DreamCloud Classic is $799 for a queen-sized mattress, 24% less than the average memory foam mattress. This provides a savings of $249 for a queen mattress compared to the average memory foam mattress.

How is DreamCloud Classic Different?
The DreamCloud Classic is a 12″ memory foam mattress with an overall performance level that is well below-average and a price tag that is also below-average.
The result is a budget-friendly mattress with lower performance. But if you are looking to save a buck, the disadvantages may be no big deal. Let’s dive in here.

Advantages
Advantages of the Classic include slightly less motion transfer than average, better edge support, and faster off-gassing. The DreamCloud also has a 365-night trial period and lifetime warranty, a perk offered by only 39% of mattresses that we have tested.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has moderate sinkage and very low levels of bounce. If you know you want classic memory foam, this mattress is certainly the feel that you’re looking for.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages include worse cooling performance, a very slow material response time, and lower sex score. The lower sex score is largely due to the lower level of bounce.
Cooling Test
The DreamCloud Classic has good cooling. During our tests, I felt a slight degree of heat retention, but it was very minor.
Baseline Temp.
78.7° F
Max. Temp.
91.5° F
Ending Temp.
82.0° F
The DreamCloud uses a simple design that’s all foam. Foam layers often struggle more with breathability, which can result in more heat retention.
In addition, memory foam is also typically more heat-retentive than other foam types. DreamCloud being an all-foam design and one that uses a 1.0” traditional memory foam layer just isn’t set up to handle heat as well as many other mattress types.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
To be fair, cooling absolutely can be worse. So while the DreamCloud’s cooling isn’t amazing, it’s also not bad.
One last note on the design, the mattress is equipped with cooling fibers in the cover. However, these don’t appear to be making a notable impact on cooling performance.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.5° F. This is 1.5° more than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 4.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.1 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is good.
Sinkage Test
The DreamCloud Classic has moderate sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.14″. This is 0.07″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.21″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.14″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. This mattress uses a mix of memory foam, poly foam, and quilted cover to create a more balanced, even, and less polarizing hug.
The more traditionally formulated memory foam creates a more exacting and precise hug around the body. However, that layer is restrained by the poly foam and quilted cover.
It’s this design choice that helps deliver a less extreme feel. All that said, this mattress is still very much a memory foam mattress and has a notable memory foam hug. To be comfortable on the DreamCloud Classic, you’ll need to prefer the feel of more traditional memory foam.
Motion Transfer Test
The DreamCloud Classic has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 8.82 m/s². This is effectively the same as the average of 8.78 m/s², based on all of our tests to date.
Accel. Range
8.82 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.79 seconds
The all-foam design benefits motion transfer by reducing bounce and dissipating energy. In addition, the more traditional feeling 1.0” memory foam layer does a fantastic job at killing bounce and energy.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Immediately thereafter, we see a significant decline in acceleration.
Motion Transfer Over Time

By 0.79 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.09 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Overall, motion is excellent with an average motion intensity and below-average motion duration.
Response Test
The DreamCloud Classic has a very slow material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.2 seconds, which is 0.80 seconds slower than the average of 0.40 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
1.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
1.8 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.8 seconds, which is 0.80 seconds slower than the average of 1.00 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The DreamCloud is a tale of two material types. On the one hand, we have the highly responsive poly foam and support foam, which are springing back to shape quickly.
But on the other hand we have a more traditional memory foam layer, which is considerably slower to recover back to its original shape after it has been compressed.
The slow response will negatively impact ease of movement, make it more difficult to change positions, and more difficult to get out of bed.
Bounce Test
The DreamCloud Classic has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 5.26″. This is 3.64″ less bounce than the average of 8.90″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.45″
Max. Rebound
0.81″
Total Bounce
5.26″
The DreamCloud has multiple design and material choices that inhibit bounce, including the all-foam design, 1.0” traditional memory foam layer, and very slow material responsiveness.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
These design attributes greatly absorb and disperse energy, which is ideal for lowering motion transfer, but it also means that bounce is lower.
Lower bounce makes the mattress more difficult to move around on the mattress, change positions, and greatly negatively impacts sex performance.
Edge Support Test
The DreamCloud Classic has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.00″
Lying Support
Excellent
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.00″. This is 0.95″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.95″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. When it comes to edge support, the DreamCloud benefits from its simpler design and less polarizing feel.
The combination of a thinner comfort layer, a limited 1.0” memory foam layer, and moderate sinkage creates the right material conditions and performance to deliver a more robust and supportive edge.
When memory foam mattresses utilize a super thick memory foam comfort layer with lots of sinkage, it can often cause the edge support to be weakened.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The more restrained memory foam thickness and limited sinkage is beneficial with respect to edge support.
Lastly, this mattress has no reinforced support foam or other reinforcing materials along the edge. Despite the lack of a reinforced edge the DreamCloud still created excellent edge support for both sitting and lying.
Sex Test
The DreamCloud Classic has fair sex performance. First up, let’s talk about the biggest issue with the DreamCloud, the lack of bounce. We measured bounce at 5.26”. This is considerably lower than average.

Lower bounce makes sex more strenuous and tiring on a mattress. It is the single biggest factor that impacts sex performance. Next up, with good, but not amazing performances, we have pressure relief and cooling.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 5.8 | Very Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Both were good enough to not be a major hindrance to amorous activities, but also could be better. Lastly, noise is minimal and edge support is outstanding.
With just 3.0” of sitting edge sinkage the edge is incredibly robust and a functionally usable part of the mattress. Overall sex performance is good and yet, far from great.
Pressure Relief Test
The DreamCloud Classic has a good level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body. However, it’s clear that the pressure relief performance didn’t rise to the excellent or outstanding level.
Comfort Layer
3.75″
Support Layer
8.25″
The mattress is equipped with 3.75″ of comfort material, which is 0.51″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.26″, based on all of our tests to date.
First up, we do have a thinner comfort layer than average, which certainly contributed to the limited pressure relief performance. The material quality feels fine both in hand and on the body, though it’s also far from amazing.

This is a budget-friendly mattress and the foams are therefore limited in their quality and thickness.
Moving on, it’s important to understand this is a memory foam mattress. As such, it has a notable memory foam feel with the way it hugs and contours to the body. This isn’t good or bad, but it is a specific feel, one you’ll need to prefer to be comfortable on this mattress.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.77. A PSI below 1.0 is what we want to see and DreamCloud is well within that range.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.12 | 0.58 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.08 | 0.66 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.77 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be good.
Off-Gassing Test
The DreamCloud Classic had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 5 days. This is 1.9 days shorter than the average smell duration of 6.9 days.
Initial Smell Strength

Off-Gassing Period

How firm is DreamCloud Classic?
The DreamCloud Classic comes in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, which gives the mattress a medium-firm feel.

A mattress with this firmness is generally suitable for a wide range of sleepers, body types, and sleeping positions.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the DreamCloud Classic is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions.

The mattress is equipped with a 8.25″ support layer. This is 0.35″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.9″, based on all of our tests to date. This mattress is available in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, which gives it a medium-firm feel. Medium-firm is an ideal firmness that works for most body types and sleeping positions.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
The DreamCloud does not use any type of zoned support. Instead, it has a consistent supportive feel from the head of the mattress to the foot. The one essential requirement to feel well supported by the DreamCloud is a preference for memory foam.
This mattress has a notable memory foam feel, which creates more hug around the body. It’s not as extreme as many other memory foams we’ve tested and yet, this is still very much a memory foam mattress.
You’ll need to like that memory foam feeling to feel well supported on the mattress.

The Cover
The DreamCloud Classic has a 2.0″ quilted cover, with scalloped stitching and a comfortable feel. This is the same cover that comes standard on the DreamCloud Hybrid mattresses as well.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 3.75″ thick, if we include the thickness of the quilted cover. and made of two layers of foam. Directly beneath the quilted cover is a 1.0″ memory foam (blue) followed by a 0.75″ transitional poly foam (green).

These two foam layers work with the quilted cover to provide a complete comfort system above the support layer.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8.25″ thick and made of a single layer of support foam (off-white). This layer serves as the support and foundation for this mattress.

Product Evolution
DreamCloud came from the same makers of the Nectar mattress, with Nectar launching in 2017 and DreamCloud following shortly after in 2018.
DreamCloud offers a collection that includes hybrid mattresses as well as memory foam mattresses.
The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam mattress launched in 2024, as the most budget-friendly DreamCloud mattress within their collection. It also differed with its all foam design. Previously, all DreamCloud models had been hybrids (coils + foam).
