Is The Layla Mattress Toxic?

Derek Hales

Published

No, Layla mattresses are not toxic.

Both the Layla Memory Foam mattress and the Layla Hybrid are made with CertiPur-US certified foams, meaning they contain none of the following:

  • Ozone depleters
  • Lead and other heavy metals
  • “Tris” flame retardants
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
  • Formaldehyde
  • Phthalates

The same goes for the copper gel memory foam used in Layla mattresses. This material has antimicrobial and cooling properties and doesn’t pose any known major health risks.

Layla mattresses also performed well in our off-gassing test. Both models had a strong smell after unboxing, but the odor dissipated within three days.
