Although both are latex hybrids, the Birch original had basically no off-gassing smell out of the box and the Birch Luxe had a very strong smell that took 10 days to completely off-gas.

The Birch Luxe didn’t have a chemical odor like you would get with a memory or poly foam mattress, but there was definitely still a strong smell.
This is perhaps a by-product of the materials used in the Birch Luxe cover.
Regardless, if you’re sensitive to strong smells, you may want to give the Luxe some extra alone time before sleeping on it.
