Are Puffy Mattresses Organic?

Derek Hales

Updated

No, Puffy mattresses are not considered organic. Puffy mattresses are hybrids, memory foam hybrids, and memory foam (all-foam) mattresses. All tested Puffy mattresses contain polyurethane foam, which is a synthetic, petroleum-based product.

Their Puffy Monarch mattress does use a latex foam layer, but it is not specified whether this is GOLS-certified Dunlop latex foam or simply natural Talalay latex foam. You can read about the difference between these two latex foams here.

The only notable certification they display on their website is for CertiPUR-US certified foams. This means their foams are made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP flame retardants, mercury, lead, other heavy metals, formaldehyde, or phthalates.
