Best For
- Excellent cooling—below average maximum surface temperature and an above average heat dissipation
- Extra support for heavier weight sleepers
- Balanced medium-firm feel that’s suitable for many types of sleepers
Considerations
- Very high bounce; great for sex, less great for motion transfer
- Response time is moderately fast, but not the fastest we’ve tested
- Edge support is good, just not amazing
Our Verdict
The Titan Plus Luxe is a 13″H hybrid mattress designed specifically for plus-sized sleepers. This mattress uses memory foam, poly foam, and pocketed coils to support up to 1500 lbs.
It has moderate sinkage and high bounce with a more traditional feel.
It comes in a single firmness of 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm, giving it a medium-firm feel. This makes it a good fit for all body types and sleeping positions.
The Titan Plus Luxe received an overall score of 8.87 out of 10, ranking it in the top 28% of all mattresses we’ve tested to date. Compared to other plus-sized mattresses, it falls in the bottom 33%.
For a queen size, the Titan Plus Luxe is $1,199, 28% less than the average plus-sized mattress. While it is notably cheaper than other plus-sized mattresses, it doesn’t quite meet their level of performance. That said, it is still better than the average mattress and could still be considered a good value.

How is Titan Plus Luxe Different?
The Titan Plus Luxe has better overall performance than average as well as a price tag that is below the average—13% less than the average plus-sized hybrid (a savings of $181).
Advantages
Other advantages include better cooling performance, a thicker overall mattress profile, better sex performance, and less off-gassing odor.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has slightly less sinkage than average as well as 2% higher levels of bounce. Both sinkage and bounce are preferential factors and may be advantages or disadvantages depending on the exact feel you’re looking for.
Disadvantages
Material response time is a bit slower than average and edge support is lacking, but those are the biggest disadvantages. The trial period is also 32% shorter than average, but not a hugely significant difference. Titan still gives you 4 months to decide if you like the mattress.

Cooling Test
Cooling was excellent on the Titan Plus Luxe. In our objective tests, it only reached a maximum surface temperature of 89.5° F.
Baseline Temp.
79.1° F
Max. Temp.
89.5° F
Ending Temp.
83.4° F
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
This is notably cooler than the average max temperature, which is 91.2° F (based on all mattresses we’ve tested to date).
Looking at the heat dissipation rate, we were again very impressed.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

Within 1 minute the Titan mattress dropped 3.6° to 85.9° F. From there it continued a gradual decline. Within 5 minutes after getting off the mattress it had dropped 6.1° to just 83.4° F.
Speaking subjectively, I felt cool for the duration of our cooling test. The Titan mattress does a fantastic job at breathing well, keeping both the surface and core of the mattress cool for sleepers.
Certainly, the hybrid design plays a big factor in this, as it improves cooling through improved air circulation.
Sinkage Test
The Titan Luxe Plus has moderate sinkage. In our sinkage tests, we measured a compression of 2.1”. This is a moderate level of sinkage and on par with the average across all mattresses, we’ve tested to date (which is 2.15”).
Sinkage Depth
2.1″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

Around 2” of sinkage creates enough give in the mattress to provide pressure relief, but not so much sinkage that it creates a new source of heat or support issues.
In my view, the 2.1” of sinkage is a happy middle ground that most sleepers will find comfortable.
Motion Transfer Test
Motion transfer was very low for the Titan Luxe Plus. In our accelerometer tests, we measured an acceleration range of 6.54 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
3.50 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-3.04 m/s²
Accel. Range
6.54 m/s²
This is lower than the average motion transfer across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, which is 8.79 m/s².
Generally, I like to see an acceleration range in the 5.0 m/s² area or less, so this is definitely a little north of that, but not by a huge margin.
If you are super sensitive to motion during the night or sleep with a partner who is easily disturbed you may want to consider a different option though.
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
How Does It Compare?
We’ve tested a number of mattresses that reach an acceleration range of around 2.0 m/s², including the BedInABox Tranquilium, Layla Hybrid, Nectar Premier Copper, and Leesa Original, among others. Because the Titan mattress is a hybrid mattress it naturally creates a little more motion transfer.

If you look at our motion transfer chart you will see high levels of acceleration up through 0.7 seconds, with moderate levels continuing up to 1.0 seconds. This is a fairly long duration.
Many all-foam mattresses are able to dissipate energy within 0.3 seconds. All that said, there are always going to be pros and cons with different mattress types.
You give up a little motion transfer to get better support and improved cooling. For many sleepers, that’s a worthwhile trade-off.
Response Test
Response time was moderately quick for the Titan Luxe Plus. Within 0.5 seconds most of the materials are able to rebound to their original shape.
Mostly Recovered
0.5 sec.
Complete Recovery
1.3 sec.
However, the layer of memory foam on top does take longer to fully rebound. A 100% recovery takes 1.3 seconds based on our measurements.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
A mostly recovered response time of 0.5 seconds is slightly more than the average across all mattresses we’ve tested to date, which is 0.4 seconds.
However, the complete recovery time of 1.3 seconds is trailing behind the average time of 0.9 seconds.
Bounce Test
There is a high level of bounce on the Titan mattress. In our tests, we measured the total bounce height to be 10.84”.
Max. Depth
6.02″
Max. Rebound
4.82″
Total Bounce
10.84″
This is definitely on the high side, which is to be expected given the increased support and hybrid design. The average bounce height across all mattresses we’ve tested to date is 9.65”. So a height of 10.84” is notable.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
More bounce definitely gives the mattress a more traditional feel. It also makes it easier to get in and out of, in addition to being more enjoyable for sex (which we discuss in greater depth further down the page).
Edge Support Test
I found edge support for the Titan Plus Luxe to be good, but not great for sitting. While sitting at the absolute edge, I measured a maximum compression of 5.0”.
Max. Sinkage
5.0″
Lying Support
Excellent
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

These levels are a bit on the high end for what I like to see, but still minimal enough to be considered good (mind you, not amazing, but definitely good).
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Edge support while lying directly on the edge was excellent. I felt equally supported at the absolute edge as I did while lying in the middle of the mattress.
Sex Test
Sex performance is good for the Titan Plus Luxe.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 9.3 | Very High |
Edge Support | 20% | 7.5 | Fair |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Let’s talk through some of these scores. Being a hybrid with coils and foam, the bounce on the Titan is fantastic. High levels of bounce make for better sex so the Titan scores high marks.
Pressure relief and cooling are also great and again, I think we have the hybrid design to thank. Sometimes hybrids can be noisier than all-foam mattresses, but this wasn’t the case with the Titan.

The pocketed design of the coils as well as the foam above really helped to deaden noise and make this a very quiet mattress.
The biggest strike against the Titan is edge support. It’s good, but it’s not great and for some activities, poor edge support may lead to poorer sex quality.
Pressure Relief Test
Many times mattresses that are built with extra support for heavier persons end up doing a fairly poor job at relieving pressure for moderate and lightweight sleepers.
Comfort Layer
5.0″
Support Layer
8.0″
However, that isn’t the case here. Even a fairly lightweight body like mine (140 pounds) felt excellent pressure relief in all sleeping positions.

The layers of memory and poly foam on top of the mattress do a fantastic job at creating pressure relief, contour, sinkage, and hug, which deliver an excellent feel overall.
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing was excellent on the Titan mattress. There was a moderate smell out of the box and that smell lingered for 3 days. After that, the smell was fairly minimal.
Initial Smell Strength
Moderate
Off-Gassing Period
3 days
I would say that this performance was typical for a good quality hybrid mattress.
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 120 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 7.0 | $99 |
Trust | 50% | 10 | Outstanding |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
The Titan Plus Luxe is manufactured by Brooklyn Bedding and comes with some fair and consumer-friendly terms and conditions.
Brooklyn Bedding has been around since 1995 and selling online mattresses direct since 2009.
They offer a 120-night trial period with a lifetime warranty. Shipping is free, but returns have a $99 fee if the mattress ends up not working out. The fee will be subtracted from your refund.

After your new bed arrives, you have 120 nights to try it out but must keep it for at least the first 30 days. They call this the “Break-In Period” and it’s not that uncommon in the industry.
A break-in period allows for the mattress to fully relax and gives your body a chance to adjust as well. Although it may feel different at first, different is not always bad.
If after the 30-night break-in period, you still want to return the mattress, it will cost you a $99 return fee. This applies to used mattresses as well as mattresses still in their original packaging.
How firm is the Titan Plus Luxe?
For firmness, I would put the Titan Plus Luxe around 6 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm. Honestly, I was a bit surprised that it didn’t feel firmer.
This mattress is specifically designed for heavier bodies so someone thin, like me, would typically find those mattresses to be a fit too firm.

Not the case with the Plus Luxe here. This mattress still provides that medium-firm feel, while also providing exceptional support.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Overall, the Titan Hybrid Luxe has excellent support. And ultimately, that’s really why you buy this mattress—because you need more support.

The Titan mattress is designed for heavier bodies. If you find that many mattresses you’ve slept on in the past just don’t offer enough support, then the Titan is likely going to be a great fit.
It’s designed with a more highly supportive pocketed coil system that creates increasing levels of pushback and support for even very large bodies.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Even with a design that caters more towards heavier bodies, I still found the Titan to be comfortable, as a lightweight sleeper, myself.
Design
The Titan Plus Luxe is designed for heavier sleepers who are looking for extra support. It uses reinforced coils and a thicker comfort layer to achieve this support.
Type
Hybrid
Thickness
13″
Firmness

It has a thicker 13″H profile and a medium-firm firmness that allows it to appeal to a wider range of sleepers.

Materials
The Titan Plus Luxe is a 13″ plus-sized hybrid. Below the cover are layers of varying-density foams, pocketed coils, and a support base. The exact materials break down as shown, from top to bottom:
- 1.0″ gel memory foam
- 2.0″ latex-like poly foam
- 1.0″ poly foam
- 8.0″ pocketed coils
- 1.0″ support foam

The Cover
The cover of the Titan is a white fabric that is thin, breathable, and has a good stretch to it. The sides are reinforced with a thicker, dark gray fabric and have a quilted feel to them.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer of the Titan breaks down into three separate layers of foam. On the top is a 1.0″ thick layer of gel memory foam. This gel foam is great for cooling and contouring.
Below the gel foam are two layers of poly foam. The thicker blue one is a latex-like poly foam that provides fast response time and comfort.

Below that is a slightly denser poly foam that acts a bit like a transitional foam between the comfort layers and the support coils below.
The Support Layer
The coil layer is made up of 8.0″ thick pocketed coils that react independently from the surrounding coils.
For example, pressure applied at the midsection would affect the coils located in that zone only and allow the coils located at the head and foot of the mattress to respond to specific pressure points in that zone.

Below the coils is a thin layer of ultra-dense support foam which really is just intended to help the mattress keep it shape and provide pushback for the coils and foam above.
Product Evolution
The Titan Plus Luxe, by Brooklyn Bedding, launched in 2021. The Plus Luxe launched after the success of the regular Titan Hybrid, which hit the market in 2017.
Designed specifically for plus-sized sleepers, the Titan hybrid has not undergone any major design changes since its initial launch.
