Best For
- Fantastic for couples, low motion transfer + great sex score
- Better-than-average edge support when sitting or lying
- Fast material recovery speed
Considerations
- Pressure relief was fair, not ideal for side sleepers
- Long off-gassing duration
- Cooling was slightly below average, with slight levels of heat retention
Our Verdict
The Sleepmax Podium is a 12.00″ hybrid mattress made of a poly foam comfort layer, pocketed coil support, and a support foam base. Of the materials, only 3.0″ is dedicated to comfort layers, which is 1.3″ less than average.
The Sleepmax Podium is available in three firmness levels — 16″ Plush, 14″ Medium, and 12″ Firm. We tested the Firm version, which was an 8 out of 10 on the firmness scale. I would estimate the Plush to be closer to a 4 out of 10 and the Medium-Firm would likely be a 6 out of 10.
The Firm version of this mattress has very minimal sinkage and high levels of bounce. The Plush and Medium versions would likely have deeper sinkage since they are softer materials and also thicker mattresses (14″ and 16″ respectively).
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.55, ranking the mattress in the bottom 43% of all mattresses tested to date. Looking specifically at hybrids, that rank drops even lower, to the bottom 34% of all mattresses. But what it lacks in performance, it may make up for in price to some sleepers.
The Sleepmax Podium is $900 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 40% less expensive than the average hybrid. If you’re on a tight budget, the Podium can be a nice value hybrid, especially for the firm version. However, the plush and medium versions are more expensive, making the value proposition less-than-ideal.
Type: Hybrid

How is Sleepmax Podium Different?
The Sleepmax Podium is a 12.00″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is slightly above that of the average mattress. The price is also significantly below the average, a savings of 40% (or $595 less than the average queen-sized hybrid).
Advantages
Beyond the price, other advantages of the Sleepmax Podium include lower levels of motion transfer, faster material response time, better edge support, and better sex score as well.
The Podium has high levels of bounce, which contributes to the high score for sex. The company score was also well above-average, marked by its lighter trial period and lifetime warranty.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very minimal sinkage, which is a neutral factor in a way, but also could be a disadvantage for side sleepers or sleepers who are looking for better pressure relief through deeper sinkage.

That being said, we tested the Firm version. It is likely that the Plush and Medium versions of this mattress would have deeper sinkage, which could be a better option for side sleepers.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of this mattress include a lower cooling score and struggling pressure relief. This mattress has only a 3.0″ comfort layer compared to the 4.31″ average.
The off-gassing duration is also significantly longer, taking 13 days to fully off-gas. For sensitive sleepers, this could be a bigger issue for some than others.
Cooling Test
The Sleepmax Podium has good cooling. During our tests, I felt a slight level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
78.1° F
Max. Temp.
91.7° F
Ending Temp.
82.8° F
Fortunately, it was nothing extreme or anything I’d describe as “hot”. This mattress is equipped with a cooling cover that, according to the product page, lowers “contact temperature by 5–8°…”.
Based on my tests, it didn’t seem to make a particularly notable impact. However, it does have a slight cooling feel. In addition, this is a hybrid mattress. The coil unit brings extra airflow into the mattress, which helps to mitigate heat retention and improve cooling.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
According to the product page, this mattress is also equipped with a poly foam infused with phase-change materials. Unfortunately, these phase change materials don’t seem to be making a major impact on cooling performance.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.7° F. This is 1.6° warmer than the average of 90.1° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 4.3 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.5 degrees less cooling than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is good.
Sinkage Test
The Sleepmax Podium has very minimal sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 1.49″. This is 0.76″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.25″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
1.49″
Sinkage Feel
Very Minimal
Body Contour
Slight
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates only a slight level of body contouring. Moreover, it creates a floating feel where the body lies more “on” the mattress as opposed to sinking down “in” the mattress.
To be clear, we tested the firm version of this mattress. It’s likely that the medium and plush versions would have deeper sinkage and create a more balanced level of body contouring hug. In order to feel comfortable on the firm version, you’ll need to strongly prefer a floating feel, slight body hug, and very minimal sinkage.
This feel isn’t good or bad, but it is a more specific and polarizing feel. The vast majority of sleepers will be better served by the medium version of the mattress.
Motion Transfer Test
The Sleepmax Podium has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.36 m/s². This is 17% less motion transfer than the average of 8.85 m/s².
Accel. Range
7.36 m/s²
Motion Duration
1.05 seconds
Typically, firmer mattresses and mattresses with more bounce struggle more with motion transfer. However, that’s not what we measured on the Podium. Notably, the Podium uses a more novel coil design. These coils are configured together in a honeycomb-type design. Seemingly, this configuration is able to reduce energy and motion transferred across the mattress.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion declines dramatically thereafter, but we do see a small secondary energy spike from 0.5 to 0.6 seconds.
By 1.05 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.16 seconds longer than the average motion duration of 0.89 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

While the motion duration is slightly longer than average, the motion intensity is well below average. Overall, I’m pleased with the level of motion transfer and expect most sleepers will find it satisfactory.
Response Test
The Sleepmax Podium is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.4 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.21 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.62 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
These material recovery speeds are effectively instant, and nearly as fast as we’ve tested to date (only missing the full recovery best speed time by 0.1 seconds). The rapid material responsiveness ensures you’ll never feel stuck on the mattress and it’s easy to move around, change positions, and get in / out of bed.
Bounce Test
The Sleepmax Podium has a high level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 11.42″. This is 2.71″ more bounce than the average of 8.71″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
4.92″
Max. Rebound
6.50″
Total Bounce
11.42″
The increased bounce is delivered by a combination of a thinner-than-average comfort layer, all poly foam comfort layer (no memory foam), coil unit, firm feel, and minimal sinkage.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
These design and feel factors work together to create more resiliency, pushback, and ultimately, bounce height. The extra bounce makes this mattress easier to move around on and also greatly improves sex performance. Notably, we tested the firm version, which I expect will have a higher level of bounce than the medium or plush versions.
Edge Support Test
The Sleepmax Podium has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.00″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.00″. This is 0.89″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.89″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with a full perimeter of reinforced support foam.
This reinforcing support foam, in combination with the firm feel and minimal sinkage depth, are all working together to create fantastic edge support for both sitting and lying. The only notable negative with edge support is the incredibly slick cover.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

Depending on your sheet set, you could find it’s easier to slide off the mattress, especially while sitting. As with other performance tests, it’s important to note that we tested the firm version. It’s likely that the medium and plush versions won’t have quite as good edge support as these softer feels will simply create more sinkage on the mattress.
Sex Test
The Sleepmax Podium has excellent sex performance. First, let’s talk through the positives, which include minimal noise, outstanding edge support, and very high bounce.

With just 3.00” of sitting edge sinkage, the edge is incredibly robust and supportive, extending the usable surface area. In addition, we measured a considerably higher than average level of bounce height at 11.42”. That extra bounce makes sex more enjoyable, easier, and less tiring.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 9.6 | Very High |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 7.0 | Fair |
| Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Moving on with good, but not amazing performance, we have cooling. Certainly, we would have liked to have seen a better cooling performance, but it should be good enough for most sleepers. Lastly, the one weak area on the mattress is simply the pressure relief.
Despite pressure relief delivering a less-than-amazing performance, the other performance areas were fantastic, creating excellent overall sex performance.
Pressure Relief Test
The Sleepmax Podium has a fair level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt a slight to moderate level of pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
3.00″
Support Layer
9.00″
The mattress is equipped with 3.0″ of comfort material, which is 1.32″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.32″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all NapLab mattress tests, we make it a point to cut the mattress open and examine material quality. In doing so, we found the foam quality isn’t incredible, but it’s certainly not bad either.

In my view, it’s a fair and reasonable level of quality given the price point. Even so, that less-than-amazing foam, in combination with the firm feel, minimal sinkage, and thinner-than-average comfort layer thickness, set the stage for the fair level of pressure relief performance.
This mattress creates more of a floating feel with lots of firmness, pushback, and not much body hug. This feel is very similar to the Sleepmax Omnifit that we tested here. To be clear, we tested the firm version.

I would expect that the medium and plush versions would likely have better pressure relief, as those mattresses also have a thicker comfort layer. If pressure relief is essential for you, then I would strongly advise going with the medium or plush version.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.31 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |

| Back Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.83 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.27 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be fair.
Off-Gassing Test
The Sleepmax Podium had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 13 days. This is 5.7 days longer than the average smell duration of 7.3 days.

Company
Sleepmax mattresses come with a 365-night trial period and a lifetime warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 10 | 365 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 10 | Lifetime |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 110+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 182 nights. Compared to the average, the Sleepmax offers a trial that is 183 nights longer.

The Podium also comes with a lifetime warranty, a perk only offered by 40% of all mattresses we’ve tested. The average of the other 60% of mattress warranties is only 13 years.
How firm is Sleepmax Podium?
The SleepMax Podium is available in 3 firmness options: Plush, Medium, and Firm. Each option comes with a different thickness.
The Plush version is the thickest at 16″, followed by a 14″ thickness for the Medium version, and the Firm version has the thinnest profile, at only 12″ thick.
Our tests were performed on the 12″ Firm version, which had a distinctly firm feel and was an 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm.

While we did not test the 14″ Medium version of the SleepMax Podium, we would estimate its firmness to be a 6 out of 10, with a medium-firm feel.

Likewise, for the 16″ Plush version, we would estimate it to have a soft firmness, with a 4 out of 10 rating on our firmness scale.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Sleepmax Podium is good. During our tests, I felt well supported on my back and stomach. However, the firm version of this mattress is not ideal for side sleepers, and I did not feel properly supported on my side.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 3.00″ |
| Support Layer | 9.00″ |
| Firmness | Soft, Medium-Firm, and Firm |
| Body Contour | Slight |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
Fortunately, the Podium is available in a plush and medium version. The plush version is better suited to exclusive side sleepers, while the medium is ideal for side sleepers, combination sleepers, and the vast majority of sleepers in general.
The mattress is equipped with a 9.0″ support layer. This is 1.08″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.92″, based on all of our tests to date.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | No | Yes | No |
| 150-250 lbs. | No | Yes | No |
| 250-300 lbs. | No | Yes | No |
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
Notably, the firm version has a more polarizing support dynamic. We have a combination of firm feel, minimal sinkage, and more of a floating feel. This feel isn’t good or bad, but it is a more specific feel that’s really only well suited to some stomach and back sleepers.

If you’re unsure what firmness will be best for you then I would strongly recommend the medium version.
Moving on, this mattress has no zone support. Instead, we have a consistent firmness and support dynamic across the entire mattress.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Sleepmax Podium to be good.

The Cover
The Sleepmax Podium has a thin cover, designed for cooling and breathability. Unfortunately, cooling fell a little short in our tests. To be frank, it was quite disappointing relative to how strongly the brand markets the cooling features on this mattress.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 3.00″ thick and made of two layers of poly foam. Directly below the cooling cover is a 2.0″ poly foam layer (blue foam) followed by a 1.0″ poly foam layer (purple foam).

These two poly foams create a 3.0″ comfort layer, which is a bit thinner than the average 4.31″ comfort layer.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 9.00″ thick and made of an 8.0″ pocked coil base followed by a 1.0″ support foam base. For most hybrids, this is a pretty standard support setup.

Product Evolution
The Sleepmax Podium mattress is quite new on the market. The mattress first became available for sale in late 2025.
Since its release, we have not seen any design or material changes made to the mattress.

Boring Hybrid
9.0 Pressure Relief Score
The Boring Hybrid is a 10″ hybrid mattress available in 1 firmness level—medium-firm. This mattress has a thinner profile, but it also has fantastic pressure relief and deeper sinkage. Especially for side sleepers, the Boring would be a better pick (while still staying within an $800 budget).
