Best For
- Fast material responsiveness
- Great edge support, significantly better than average
- Low price, under $400 for a queen mattress
Considerations
- Higher levels of motion transfer
- Low bounce is not great for sex performance for couples
- Pressure relief is good, but not great—below average
Our Verdict
The Siena Signature 12″ is a 12″ foam mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam. It has a thin cover and does not contain any coils.
The Siena Signature 12″ is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm. This firmness is generally acceptable with a wide range of sleepers.
This mattress has minimal sinkage and very low levels of bounce, giving the mattress a restrained feel. Minimal sinkage tends to be best for back or stomach sleepers, but some side sleepers may enjoy it.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.45, ranking the mattress in the bottom 35% of all mattresses tested to date. But what it lacks in performance, it makes up for in price.
The Siena Signature 12″ is only $399 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 64% less than the average foam mattress. This provides a savings of over $700 on a queen-sized mattress.

How is Siena Signature 12″ Different?
The Siena Signature 12″ is a foam mattress with an overall performance level that is slightly below average, but also a price tag that is significantly less than average. If you’re in the market for a budget mattress with near-average performance, Siena certainly fits the bill.

Advantages
Beyond the low price, other advantages of the Siena Signature 12″ include faster material response time, better edge support, and faster off-gassing (4 days on the Siena vs. 7 days on average).
The company score is also better than average, offering a slightly longer trial period (180 nights vs. 171-night average.)
Neutral Factors
This mattress has minimal sinkage and very low levels of bounce. Both of these factors are considered neutral since different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas.
Disadvantages
Given the low cost, there are quite a few categories where the Siena scored lower than average.
The Siena has worse cooling than average, higher levels of motion transfer, a lower sex score, and worse pressure relief (despite having a 4.0″ comfort layer and 12″ overall thickness).
The low bounce really kills the sex performance, which can be problematic for couples.
Cooling Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has good cooling. During our tests, I felt a slight level of heat retention, but it was nothing extreme.
Baseline Temp.
76.0° F
Max. Temp.
91.6° F
Ending Temp.
81.2° F
While cooling was good, it’s also far from great. And yet, that’s exactly what we expect from this type of mattress. The mattress is an all-foam design and uses a 2.0” layer of memory foam on top.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
This design limits breathability and also retains more heat. The Siena does use a gel infused memory foam and thin cover, both of which are helping with cooling, and yet, these design choices are not enough to push cooling to the excellent or outstanding performance level.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.6° F. This is 1.7° more than the average of 89.9° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 6.5 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.7 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is good.
Sinkage Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has minimal sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 1.97″. This is 0.24″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.21″, based on all of our tests to date.
The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. According to the Siena product page the top 2.0” layer is a memory foam, but it feels more like a poly foam to me.
Sinkage Depth
1.97″
Sinkage Feel
Minimal
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The more restrained hug and contour is similar with other poly foams and has less in common with memory foam. The topmost foam is also highly responsive, which is more similar to most poly foam.
Interestingly, this top foam comfort layer differs from the top foam comfort layer on the 10” version of the Siena, which does use a more traditional memory foam. The Siena Signature 12” is equipped with a thin cover, which creates a more direct engagement with the foam layers.
Lastly, there is a higher degree of pushback on this mattress, which we see with the limited sinkage and more balanced body contouring hug. This isn’t good or bad, but it is a more specific feel.
Motion Transfer Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 9.72 m/s². This is 12% more motion transfer than the average of 8.69 m/s².
Accel. Range
9.72 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.69 seconds
The Siena mattress benefits from the all foam design and 4.0” thick comfort layer on top. Both of these design attributes are helping to reduce bounce and dissipate energy and motion.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
That said, we still see more motion than average and it’s seemingly the result of the taut thin cover. Movement on the mattress can cause the cover to tug abruptly, which can create a modest increase in motion.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. By 0.69 seconds we’ve returned to near zero levels of energy, which is 0.18 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.87 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

While motion intensity is slightly more than average, motion duration is notably lower than average. When we consider this performance level alongside the price point, it really feels hard to complain too much.
Response Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.4 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.20 seconds faster than the average of 0.40 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.59 seconds faster than the average of 0.99 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
This is nearly tied with the other fastest responsiveness mattresses we’ve tested to date. The nearly instant material recovery means the mattress is easy to move around on and you’ll never feel stuck on the mattress.
The all poly foam 4.0” comfort layer and thin knit cover are both helping to ensure mattress responsiveness is effectively instant.
Bounce Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has a very low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 5.95″.
Max. Depth
4.98″
Max. Rebound
0.97″
Total Bounce
5.95″
This is 2.95″ less bounce than the average of 8.90″, based on all of our tests to date. The all-foam design does a great job at absorbing and dispersing energy, which creates less bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower level of bounce is a major reason why motion transfer was kept to such a reasonably low level. However, lower bounce also makes sex performance worse, so there are pros and cons to consider.
Edge Support Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has excellent sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
3.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 3.25″. This is 0.71″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.96″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions.
The Siena Signature has a simple three-layer design and does not include any type of reinforced edge support foam.
Despite the lack of edge support foam, the mattress still performed incredibly well for both sitting and lying edge support.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The limited sinkage depth and thin cover are helping to create a more supportive mattress in general, and that supportive feel is extending all the way to the edge. Overall, this is an impressive level of edge support performance, especially given the price point.
Sex Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has fair sex performance. First, let’s talk through the positives. Noise is minimal and edge support is excellent.
With just 3.25” of sitting edge sinkage the edge of the mattress is highly supportive and a usable part of the mattress for amorous activities.

Moving onto middling performances, we have both pressure relief and cooling, both of which earned good scores, albeit far from great.
Even so, they are good enough to not be a major hindrance to the horizontal hokey pokey for most couples.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 6.2 | Low |
Edge Support | 20% | 9.7 | Excellent |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
Lastly, we have bounce at just 5.95”. This is significantly lower than average and is the greatest detractor to sex performance.
More bounce is almost always better than less when it comes to amorous activities and the below average level of bounce on the Siena greatly impacts sex performance in a negative way.
Pressure Relief Test
The Siena Signature 12″ has a good level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.
Comfort Layer
4″
Support Layer
8″
The mattress is equipped with 4.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.27″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.27″, based on all of our tests to date.
The foam layers look to be a reasonably good quality. However, it’s clear that they do not rise to the excellent or outstanding foam quality level that we’ve seen on more expensive mattresses we’ve tested.

Moving on, the thin cover allows for a higher degree of engagement with the foams below. What this means is simply that the body sinks in faster and there isn’t any type of quilted material within the cover.
The Siena also has a higher degree of pushback due to the limited sinkage depth. This isn’t good or bad, but it does create a more specific feel.
In our objective pressure mapping tests we measured a max PSI of 0.56. This is well within the ideal pressure range we hope to see at 1.0 PSI or less.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.14 | 0.56 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.46 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.41 |
Ultimately, this is an incredibly budget-friendly all-foam mattress and as such there is just only so much the mattress is able to accomplish in terms of pressure relief due to the limited foam material quality and foam quantity.
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be good.
Off-Gassing Test
The Siena Signature 12″ had a moderate smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 4 days. This is 2.8 days shorter than the average smell duration of 6.8 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Moderate
Off-Gassing Period

Company
Siena mattresses come with a 180-night trial period and a 10-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |

Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 10 years |
Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |

Comparing 100+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 171 nights, 9 nights less than Siena offers.

The Siena warranty is 10 years, 4 years shorter than the average 14-year warranty. In addition, 41% of mattresses offer lifetime warranties, further growing the gap between Siena and its competitors.
How firm is Siena Signature 12″?
The Siena 12” mattress has a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This firmness is generally accepted by a wide range of sleepers, with varying sleeping position preferences and body weights.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Siena Signature 12″ is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with an 8.0″ support layer.
This is 0.11″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.89″, based on all of our tests to date.

The Siena Signature has a medium-firm feel, which makes it a good match for most body types and all sleeping positions. Pressure relief isn’t exactly incredible, and yet, it doesn’t have a notable negative impact on the support performance.
Moving on, the mattress does not use any type of zoned support foam. That said, zoned support would be totally unexpected at this price point. The comfort and support foams all look and feel to be a reasonably good quality.
Certainly, they aren’t incredible, but at this price point, the foam quality is more than fair.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident most sleepers will find support on the Siena Signature 12″ is excellent.

The Cover
The Siena Signature 12″ has a polyester-blended cover, enhanced with polyethylene (a common type of plastic). It is light gray with thin white stripes on the top and solid gray on the sides.

There is no fancy tufting along the top, cording at the edges, or handles on the sides either.
Presumably, these design choices are an effort to help keep costs down and gives the mattress a pretty basic look.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 4.0″ thick and made of two types of foam. Directly below the cover is a 2.0″ memory foam (grey) followed by a 2.0″ poly foam (white).

The top foam is primarily for comfort, while the poly foam serves more as a transitional layer between the memory foam and the support layer below.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 8″ thick and made of a single layer of support foam. This foam is firmer than the foams that make up the comfort layer and is designed to provide deeper support.

Product Evolution
The original Siena memory mattress launched in 2022, as a sister mattress from the parent brand, Nectar. This mattress was developed as an incredibly budget-friendly mattress.
In 2025, the Siena mattress was updated and re-released in two available thicknesses—a 10″ version as well as a 12″ version.
Prior to 2025, you could not order the Siena in the thicker 12″ option. For sleepers looking for better pressure relief and a thicker profile, this was a nice upgrade.
