Best For
- Low price, 48% less expensive than the average hybrid
- Better than average motion transfer levels
- Excellent edge support
Considerations
- Fair cooling with moderate levels of heat retention
- Disappointing pressure relief, especially for side sleepers
- Slower material response time
Our Verdict
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is a Costco-exclusive 13.50″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam with a pocketed coil base. It has a plush pillow top cover and ships uncompressed to your door. In-home delivery is available at no additional charge on this mattress.
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is available in a single firmness level—8 out of 10, which gives the mattress a firm feel. This is quite a bit firmer than the “Medium” feel that Sealy claims this mattress has.
This mattress has moderate sinkage and moderate levels of bounce. Although both of these are preferential factors, this gives the mattress a balanced feel, although it does have more pushback than expected.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 7.73, ranking the mattress in the bottom 13% of all mattresses tested to date. But given its low price, the performance isn’t hugely surprising.
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is $800 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 48% less expensive than the average hybrid. This saves sleepers over $700, but there are certainly performance sacrifices to hit this target price.

How is Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor Different?
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is a 13.50″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is below average and a price tag that is also considerably below average.
Advantages
Advantages of the Sealy Highland Manor mattress include lower levels of motion transfer and better edge support. The low price could also be an attractive advantage for sleepers on a tight budget (assuming you have a Costco membership).

Neutral Factors
This mattress has moderate sinkage and moderate bounce. These factors are considered neutral since different sleepers will have different preferences in these areas. But moderate levels in these categories give the mattress a balanced feel overall.
Disadvantages
There are a handful of disadvantages of the Highland Manor mattress including below-average cooling performance, slower material response time, and worse pressure relief.
The Highland Manor hybrid has a thicker profile, 13.5″ and 4.50″ of comfort material, but even despite these thicker layers, there is a high amount of pushback on this mattress and far-from-ideal comfort. In general, we found the foam quality to be significantly lacking.
Lastly, this mattress is exclusively sold at Costco so you’ll need to have a Costco membership to purchase this one.
Cooling Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has fair cooling. During our tests, I felt a moderate degree of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
77.4° F
Max. Temp.
92.7° F
Ending Temp.
81.7° F
This mattress is equipped with a tall coil unit, which brings more airflow into the mattress. Even so, the top layers of foam seemed to struggle more with breathability.
Our thermal imagery photographs show considerably higher than average temperatures. In addition, subjectively speaking, the mattress simply felt warmer with a notable hot spot where my body was lying.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 92.7° F. This is 2.7° warmer than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 6.8 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 2.0 degrees cooler than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is fair.
Sinkage Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has moderate sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.20″. This is 0.04″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.24″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.20″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
Body Contour
Slight
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates only a slight body contouring hug. It has more of a floating feel where the body lies more “on” the mattress as opposed to sinking down “in” the mattress.
Despite the relatively thick foam comfort layer, this mattress feels more like a traditional coil mattress. The specific type of poly foam used is less conforming, more rigid, and simply less flexible around the body.
The combination of only a slight body hug and a floating feel is working together to create that more traditional feel.
This is neither good nor bad, but it is a more specific feel, one that you’ll need to prefer to be comfortable on the Highland Manor mattress.
Motion Transfer Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 7.12 m/s². This is 19% less motion transfer than the average of 8.78 m/s².
Accel. Range
7.12 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.72 seconds
Motion transfer on this mattress benefits greatly from the below-average level of bounce. With less bounce, there is simply less energy that needs to be absorbed and dispersed, which results in lower motion transfer.
In addition, Sealy is using a fairly unique coil design within this mattress and it’s one I haven’t seen anything quite like it used elsewhere.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In my view, this novel coil design, which is supposed to improve support, appears to also has the side benefit of isolating motion better.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Immediately thereafter, we see motion dropping down.
By 0.72 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.16 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Both motion duration and motion intensity are below average. Overall, I’m pleased with this level of motion transfer, and I don’t expect it to be a major issue for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has a moderate material response.
Mostly Recovered
0.6 sec.
Fully Recovered
1.2 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.6 seconds, which is 0.19 seconds slower than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.2 seconds, which is 0.19 seconds slower than the average of 1.01 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Most of the materials within this mattress spring back to shape effectively instantly. However, the foam within the pillow top cover is slightly slower to recover to its original shape.
As a result, total responsiveness on the mattress is slower than average. Despite the slower-than-average material recovery speed, I didn’t feel stuck or have notable difficulty moving around on this mattress.
Bounce Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has a moderate level of bounce.
Max. Depth
4.64″
Max. Rebound
3.75″
Total Bounce
8.39″
During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 8.39″. This is 0.36″ less bounce than the average of 8.75″, based on all of our tests to date.
The lower bounce level appears to be the product of the novel coil design. Typically, mattresses with this tall of a coil unit and an all poly foam comfort layer would have more bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
In my view, this coil design seems to have a suppressive effect on bounce. The lower level of bounce is beneficial for motion transfer. However, lower bounce also makes sex performance worse. So there are pros and cons to consider.
Edge Support Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
2.25″
Lying Support
Excellent
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.25″. This is 1.68″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was excellent in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with reinforced edge support coils.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

The combination of reinforced edge coils with a firm feel and moderate sinkage is all working together to create robust edge support.
Sex Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has good sex performance. First up, the biggest positive is simply edge support.
With just 2.25” of sitting edge sinkage, the edge is incredibly robust and supportive, which extends the usable surface area of the mattress.

With a good, but not great performance, we have noise, which we rated at a moderate level. Our remaining sex testing categories all earned less-than-good scores. Both pressure relief and cooling were fair.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 7.7 | Moderate |
| Edge Support | 20% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Noise | 5% | 8.0 | Moderate |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 7.0 | Fair |
| Cooling | 5% | 7.0 | Fair |
All that said, the biggest negative impact is simply the below-average level of bounce at 8.39”. When it comes to sex, more bounce is almost always better. A lower level of bounce can make intimacy more strenuous overall.
Pressure Relief Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has a fair level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt slight to moderate pressure on my body. Overall, I found the mattress not especially comfortable.
Comfort Layer
4.50″
Support Layer
9.00″
The mattress is equipped with 4.50″ of comfort material, which is 0.20″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.30″, based on all of our tests to date.
In all mattress tests, we make a point of cutting the mattress open to examine the materials and their quality.

While the comfort layer is fairly thick, the material quality just doesn’t look or feel great. There is a notable “crunchiness” to these foams, which is typically something we only see in foams that are dried out and at the end of their useful life.
Just running a finger across the foams, you can feel and hear how dry they are. My fear is that they simply are not going to last very long, and more quickly lead to sagging and body impressions.

On the product page, Sealy says it’s using three different layers of gel memory foam. In our examination of the layers, they don’t look or feel like any gel memory foam I’ve ever seen.
These all look like fairly basic poly foam. Lastly, there are only two comfort layers, not three, as stated by Sealy.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.43 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.41 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.44 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be fair.
Off-Gassing Test
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor had a strong smell upon the initial arrival. The mattress smelled for 7 days. This is 0.2 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.2 days.

Company
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor does not come with any trial period; however, it is backed by a 10-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 0 | 0 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 10 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Costco mattresses are backed by a “100% Satisfaction Guarantee,” meaning you should be able return the mattress. The only caveat is that the mattresses must be clean and free of any bed bugs. Dirty mattresses will not be accepted for return.
All that said, this is not the same as a trial period. Sealy does not provide a trial period separate from Costco, and in our chats with Costco customer service, they made it clear that Costco does not provide any trial period for their mattresses.

Comparing 106+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 173 nights and the average warranty is 13 years, 3 years more than this mattress. Additionally, 41% of mattresses offer lifetime warranties, a significant jump over the Highland Manor.
How firm is Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor?
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is available in a single firmness, 8 out of 10, which gives the mattress a firm feel.

Despite the fact that Sealy calls this a “medium”, in my view, there is nothing medium about it. This mattress has a high degree of pushback and is significantly firmer than the product page suggests, in my view.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is fair. During our tests, I felt well supported, but I also felt uncomfortable.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 4.50″ |
| Support Layer | 9.00″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Slight |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
For a mattress to provide ideal support, it must keep the body in a neutral alignment, while also creating sufficient comfort and pressure relief. While the mattress does keep the body well supported, it fails to provide sufficient pressure relief, which makes it hard to stay in the sleeping position for any extended period of time.
The foam quality also makes me incredibly concerned about support longevity. My fear is simply that these foams are not likely to last very long, which will create sagging and problematic body impressions on the mattress.

The mattress is equipped with a 9.0″ support layer. This is 1.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date. This mattress is only available in a single firmness that Sealy calls “medium”.
Quite frankly, I am shocked by the “medium” rating that Sealy gives this mattress. In my view, this mattress has a firm feel. I rated it at an 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
This firm feel can be good for those who prefer this feel as well as some back and stomach sleepers. However, it is a more polarizing firmness.
The vast majority of sleepers need a medium to medium-firm feel and this mattress simply isn’t that. Lastly, this mattress appears to utilize zoned support, though I am not 100% certain.
Beyond a graphic of the layers on the product page, which shows red-highlighted coils in the middle, there is no absolute clarity on whether or not this mattress uses zoned support. The mattress has 1066 coils in a Queen size.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is fair.
Design
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor is a 13.50″ hybrid mattress that comes in a single firmness option that Sealy calls a “medium”; however, in our tests, we found it to be a significantly firmer feel (8 out of 10 firmness).
| Design Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Type | Hybrid |
| Thickness | 13.50″ |
| Cover Type | Pillow Top |
| Weight | 94 lbs. |
| Has Handles | Yes |
| Fiberglass-Free | No |
| Ships in a Box | No |
It is designed as a budget-friendly hybrid option, priced significantly under $1K, making it one of the lowest-priced hybrids we’ve tested to date. This particular mattress is 1 of 4 Sealy mattresses currently sold by Costco.

The Cover
The Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor has a 2.50″ pillow top cover. The cover is thick, like what we saw in our tests of the Sealy Posturepedic Pro Lincoln Heights.

This is a pretty stark contrast to the thinner covers used on the Sealy Posturepedic Prosser Hills and Sealy Icon.
All of these listed models are comparable, Costco-exclusive Sealy mattresses.
The Comfort Layer

These two layers work together to provide comfort and transitional support into the additional layers below.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 9.00″ thick and made of an 8.0″ pocketed coil support core followed by a 1.0″ support foam base.

Product Evolution

For Performance

Glacier Original
12″ Hybrid, Quality Materials
The Glacier Original is a 12″ hybrid mattress available in 1 firmness level—medium-firm. It has a 5.0″ comfort layer and fantastic performance across the board, ranking among the top 24% of all mattresses tested to date. Compared to the Sealy, Glacier has higher performance in 7 out of 8 performance tests.
For Deep Sinkage

Boring Hybrid
Thinner 10″ Profile
The Boring Hybrid is a 10″ hybrid mattress available in 1 firmness level—medium-firm. This mattress has a thinner profile compared to the Sealy (and also the Glacier). But despite its 10″ height, the Boring easily passes Sealy in terms of overall performance. If you’re looking for better pressure relief and deeper sinkage, while still maintaining a low-profile aesthetic, the Boring is a great pick.
For Firmness Options

Silk & Snow Hybrid
Soft, Medium-Firm, or Firm
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is an 11.5″ hybrid mattress available in 3 firmness levels—soft, medium-firm, and firm. The medium-firm version has deep sinkage and high bounce. There are no major disadvantages to this mattress, and with a price under $800, it’s hard to beat the flexibility of the Silk & Snow.
