Our Verdict
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is a Costco-exclusive 10.00″ foam mattress made of poly foam, memory foam, and support foam. It has an all-foam construction designed as a value mattress.
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm, which is a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. This firmness is generally suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
This mattress has moderate sinkage and low levels of bounce. If you like a little contour, but don’t want to be overly enveloped, this could be a good dynamic, although overall performance is still far below what I’d like to see.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 7.48, ranking the mattress in the bottom 8% of all mattresses tested to date. When we look exclusively at all-foam mattresses, that rank drops even lower to the bottom 5% of all mattresses.
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is only $430 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 62% less expensive than average. While the price is indeed low, the performance is severely lacking. As such, this isn’t a mattress I would recommend for most sleepers.

How is Novaform SoFresh Plus Different?
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is a 10.00″ foam mattress with an overall performance level that is below average and a price that is also below average. The result is a foam mattress that offers a low price and equally cheap material quality, which ultimately negatively impacts overall performance.
Advantages
Advantages of the SoFresh Plus include fast material responsiveness, faster off-gassing than average, and a lower price tag.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has a moderate level of sinkage and a low level of bounce. These factors are considered “neutral” since different sleepers may have different preferences.

Disadvantages
Disadvantages of this mattress include worse cooling performance, higher levels of motion transfer, weaker edge support, lower sex score, and disappointing pressure relief.
This mattress has a 4.0″ comfort layer, which is only slightly thinner than the 4.29″ average. That said, the overall thickness is thinner than average. The Novaform is 10″ thick, whereas the average mattress is 12.2″ thick.
Thinner profiles can make it more challenging to earn the best pressure relief scores, since there is less material to comfort and support the body.
Cooling Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has good cooling. During our tests, I felt a slight level of heat retention around my body. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything too extreme.
Baseline Temp.
74.9° F
Max. Temp.
90.7° F
Ending Temp.
81.8° F
This mattress is a very simple all-foam mattress. We have 3 individual layers of foam that make up this 10” mattress.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
This mattress uses a 3.0” poly foam comfort layer, which is preferable to memory foam on top and certainly helps to improve cooling.
In addition, the cover is thin and seems reasonably breathable. However, it’s also fairly basic. This mattress doesn’t contain any special or advanced cooling materials.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.7° F. This is 0.7° warmer than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.6 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.2 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is good.
Sinkage Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has moderate sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.21″. This is 0.03″ less sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.24″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.21″
Sinkage Feel
Moderate
Body Contour
Balanced
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug due to its mixed foam composition. We have a 3.0” poly foam layer on top and a 1.0” memory foam in the core.
Having more poly foam than memory foam, in addition to it being placed on top, gives the mattress a less extreme body hug, which you often get with memory foam mattresses.
The more balanced feel and moderate sinkage make it a good choice for a wider range of body types and sleeper preferences.
Motion Transfer Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has a moderate level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 10.94 m/s². This is 25% more motion transfer than the average of 8.77 m/s².
Accel. Range
10.94 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.72 seconds
This mattress is a mixed bag for motion. The lower-than-average bounce and all-foam design are helping to reduce motion, and we see that with a shorter-than-average motion duration.
However, the highly responsive poly foam on top, in addition to the taut cover, creates more motion. That taut cover in particular is tugging back and forth from side to side during motion-generating events.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
As a result, we measured a higher-than-average level of motion transfer. In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Motion declines thereafter, but we do see a notable secondary energy spike from 0.4 to 0.5 seconds. By 0.72 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.16 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds. Overall, we see that motion transfer leaves something to be desired.
Response Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a very fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.6 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.21 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date. In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.6 seconds, which is 0.41 seconds faster than the average of 1.01 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
This is nearly tied for 1st with the fastest responsive mattresses we’ve tested to date (just missing the rank by 0.1 seconds on the fully recovered time).
Super fast material recovery speeds help facilitate ease of movement and improve sex performance. I expect that most sleepers will find this responsiveness speed is more than satisfactory.
Bounce Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 7.22″. This is 1.54″ less bounce than the average of 8.76″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.15″
Max. Rebound
2.07″
Total Bounce
7.22″
The lower-than-average level of bounce is a product of the all-foam design. Foam simply absorbs and disperses energy more than coil mattresses, which creates less bounce. Having a lower level of bounce does help to keep the motion transfer in check.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
However, the negative of lower bounce is that sex performance is worse. Lower bounce can also negatively impact ease of movement. However, in this case, I don’t see it being an issue, primarily because the material recovery speed is so incredibly quick.
Edge Support Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has good sitting edge support and fair lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.25″
Lying Support
Fair
Reinforced Edge
No
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.25″. This is 0.33″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.92″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was fair in all sleeping positions. Thinner mattresses often struggle more with lying edge support, and that’s exactly what we experienced here.
The foam wants to contour and hug the body, but at the edge of the mattress, there just isn’t enough material to both contour and support the body.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

As a result, we end up with a weakening of edge support. Notably, this mattress does not include any type of reinforced edge support.
Reinforcing edge foam can help to improve lying edge support and it seems clear to me that the lack of edge support is a major driver in the weaker edge support.
Sex Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has fair sex performance. On the positive side, noise is minimal and both cooling and sitting edge support are good.

In our sitting tests, we measure a compression depth of 4.25”. Suffice to say, it’s not perfect, but it’s also not bad and should be supportive enough for many couples.
Where the mattress struggles is pressure relief and bounce. Bounce in particular is a problem, measuring in at just 7.22”. This is less bounce than average.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 7.0 | Moderate |
| Edge Support | 20% | 8.4 | Good |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 6.0 | Mediocre |
| Cooling | 5% | 8.0 | Good |
A lower level of bounce makes sex more tiring, strenuous, and difficult. In my view, the total sex performance on this mattress just isn’t great and I expect many couples will find it disappointing.
Pressure Relief Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has a mediocre level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt notable pressure points on my body, and in general, I found the mattress uncomfortable.
Comfort Layer
4.00″
Support Layer
6.00″
The mattress is equipped with 4.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.29″ less comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.29″, based on all of our tests to date.
We make a point to cut open all mattresses we test to examine the materials. After that material examination, I am just unimpressed.

While the comfort layer is reasonably thick, the material quality doesn’t look especially good. The foams all look and feel very basic, both on the body and in-hand.
To be fair, this foam quality is pretty typical for this price point. And yet, I am greatly concerned by the quality. Lower quality foams typically sag deeper and sag earlier, and my chief concern is that this mattress will create problematic sagging and body impressions.
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.50, which is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold I want to see.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.41 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Back Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.50 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.06 | 0.44 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be mediocre.
Off-Gassing Test
The Novaform SoFresh Plus had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 4 days. This is 3.2 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.2 days.

Company
Novaform mattresses come with a 0-night trial period and a 20-year warranty. Shipping and returns are both free.
| Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Returns | 40% | 10 | $0 |
| Trial Period | 30% | 0 | 0 nights |
| Warranty | 20% | 8.0 | 20 years |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 106+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 172 nights, 172 nights more than Novaform offers.

The average warranty is 13 years, which is 7 years shorter than the 20-year warranty offered by this mattress. Additionally, this excludes the 41% of mattresses that offer lifetime warranties.
How firm is Novaform Sofresh Plus?
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is available in a single firmness and the mattress has a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10.

This firmness is generally suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Novaform SoFresh Plus is fair. During our tests, I felt reasonably well supported, but I also experienced notable pressure points, which created their own support problems.
For a mattress to create ideal support, it needs to both support the body, keeping the spine in a neutral alignment, while also providing sufficient pressure relief and comfort.
This lack of pressure relief means I wasn’t able to lie comfortably in the same position for any extended period of time.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 4.00″ |
| Support Layer | 6.00″ |
| Firmness | Medium-Firm |
| Body Contour | Balanced |
| Zoned Support | No |
| Reinforced Edge | No |
This comfort dynamic creates a restless type of sleep experience, which negatively impacts support and sleep. In my view, the relative quality of the foams is simply creating a mattress that can’t deliver ideal comfort.
The mattress is equipped with a 6.0″ support layer. This is 1.91″ thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date. This mattress has a medium-firm feel, which is ideal for most body types and sleeping positions.
Notably, this mattress is only 10” thick. In general, thicker mattresses perform better than thinner mattresses, and ideally, I want to see at least a 12” total profile.

The 10” thickness in particular is a problem for heavier-weighted sleepers, so if you do weigh more than 250 pounds, you may want to consider a thicker model (take a look at the Novaform Legacy if you want something from Costco / Novaform or here if you’re open to other brands).
Lastly, this mattress contains no zoned support. Instead, we have consistent support and firmness from the head to the foot of the mattress.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 250-300 lbs. | Maybe | Maybe | Maybe |
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Novaform SoFresh Plus to be fair.
Design
The Novaform SoFresh Plus is a 10.00″ foam mattress that comes in a single firmness option—Medium-Firm. It is fairly lightweight (under 70 lbs. for a queen mattress) and arrives compressed and shipped in a box.
| Design Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Type | Foam |
| Thickness | 10.00″ |
| Cover Type | Thin |
| Weight | 66 lbs. |
| Has Handles | No |
| Fiberglass-Free | Yes |
| Ships in a Box | Yes |
More than anything, this mattress is designed for sleepers on a tight budget. Priced under $500, the Novaform SoFresh hits a price that only a few mattresses can. But the sacrifice is a lower overall performance.

Comparing over 400 mattresses tested to date, there are only 4 other mattresses that have a lower price and higher performance than what the Novaform can offer (spoiler: most of these mattresses are from Siena).

The Cover
The Novaform SoFresh Plus has a thin cover that is designed to be machine-washable. It is also designed to be moisture-wicking, helping sleepers stay cool and dry all night long.

There are no handles on the sides of the mattress, and the design of the cover and sides is very simple and basic on these mattresses.
The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 4.00″ thick and made of two layers of foam. Directly below the cover, there is a 3.0″ copper-infused poly foam, followed by a 1.0″ transitional poly foam.
Both of these layers work together to provide a 4.0″ comfort layer for sleepers to engage with before the support layer.

The Support Layer
The support layer is 6.00″ thick and made of a single 6.0″ support foam. This foam is white and marks the base of the SoFresh Plus mattress.

Product Evolution
The Novaform SoFresh Plus was released at Costco at the end of 2025. Being a newer mattress on the market, there have been no major changes made to the mattress since its launch.
