Our Verdict

The Nolah Signature is a 12.00″ foam mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and support foam. This mattress is available in an all-foam version or a hybrid. The version we tested here is the all-foam version.

The Nolah Signature is available in a single firmness level — medium-firm, which is a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. For most sleepers, this firmness creates a good balance of support and comfort.

This mattress has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. The combination of memory foam and poly foam provides a balanced contour when sitting or lying on this mattress.

In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.51, ranking the mattress in the bottom 39% of all mattresses tested to date. But if we exclusively look at foam mattresses, that rank rises to the top 50%, performing right at the average level.

The Nolah Signature is $1,299 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 15% more expensive than the average foam mattress. Although the price is slightly higher, the Nolah is still be a solid option.

One quick note before we dive in, I want to point out the small manufacturing error that we noticed on the Nolah Signature.

The cover of this mattress says that it is the “Nolah Signature Hybrid”, but when we cut into the mattress, it was clear that it was the all-foam version.

Despite photos of the outside of this mattress indicating that it’s a hybrid, I want to reiterate that this is the all-foam version of the Nolah Signature.

How is Nolah Signature Different?

The Nolah Signature is a 12.00″ foam mattress with an overall performance level that is right at the average performance level and a price tag that is slightly higher than the average.

Re 2026 Lounging
Nolah Signature 2026 Lounging

Advantages

Advantages of the Nolah Signature include better cooling performance, faster material responsiveness, better edge support, and improved pressure relief.

The Nolah has a 6.0″ comfort layer, which is 1.71″ thicker than average, despite the overall mattress thickness being very near the average.

Moving along, this mattress also off-gasses faster than average, taking only 2 days instead of the average 7-day duration.

Neutral Factors

The Nolah Signature has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. Both of these are considered neutral factors, as different sleepers may have different preferences in these areas.

Disadvantages

The biggest disadvantages of the Nolah Signature include lower levels of motion transfer and a lower sex score (largely due to the lower levels of bounce). For couples, this can mean two pretty major strikes against the Nolah Signature.

9.0

Cooling Test

The Nolah Signature has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.

Baseline Temp.

77.4° F

Max. Temp.

90.2° F

Ending Temp.

80.3° F

This mattress utilizes an all-foam design, meaning we have multiple layers of foam making up the entirety mattress.

Although there are no coils (which typically improve cooling performance), there is a mix of poly foam and memory foam in the comfort layer. Memory foam tends to be warmer than poly foam, so having a mix of foam types helps resist a more substantial heat sink.

Max. Temp.

Re 2026 After Cooling Test
Nolah Signature 2026 After Cooling Test
  • Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
  • Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
  • Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes

Lastly, all of the foam layers look and feel high quality and seem to breathe well, which is great to see.

In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.2° F. This is 0.2° warmer than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date.

After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 4.2 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 0.6 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.

Heat Dissipation Over Time

Re 2026 Heat Dissipation Chart

Notably, this mattress is also available with an optional cooling cover called Glaciotex. We tested the version with the standard cover, but we’ve tested Glaciotex covers on other mattresses and always found it makes a substantial cooling impact.

If cooling is important to you, then I would 100% recommend adding the cooling cover.

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.

Sinkage Test

The Nolah Signature has deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.35″. This is 0.11″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.24″, based on all of our tests to date.

The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

Re 2026 Sinkage Test
Nolah Signature 2026 Sinkage Test

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. Notably, this mattress also has more of a memory foam feel, though it’s not especially dramatic.

We have two layers of memory foam on top, then two layers of poly foam, and a support foam base. This combination of materials creates a more even, balanced, and less polarizing type of feel.

All that said, this mattress does have slightly more hug and contour than the Nolah Original mattress (see our review of that model here).

6.8

Motion Transfer Test

The Nolah Signature has a high level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 12.11 m/s².

Accel. Range

12.11 m/s²

Motion Duration

0.70 seconds

This is 38% more motion transfer than the average of 8.77 m/s². While the memory foam layers do help to reduce bounce and decrease motion duration, they alone are not enough to overcome the higher motion intensity provided by the poly foam layers.

The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.

In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds. Motion drops significantly immediately thereafter.

By 0.70 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.18 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.

Motion Transfer Over Time

Re 2026 Motion Transfer Chart

While I do wish the motion intensity were lower, it’s great to see that motion duration was notably shorter than average.

9.0

Response Test

The Nolah Signature is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with a very fast mostly recovered response time and a moderate fully recovered response time.

Mostly Recovered

0.3 sec.

Fully Recovered

1.0 sec.

In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.3 seconds, which is 0.11 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.

In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 1.0 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than the average of 1.01 seconds.

The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.

While these material recovery speeds aren’t instant, they are more than fast enough to facilitate good ease of movement and avoid any type of “stuck” feeling in the mattress.

I would have liked to have seen a slightly faster mostly recovered time, but overall, I don’t expect these responsive speeds to be a problem for most sleepers.

Bounce Test

The Nolah Signature has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.20″. This is 2.54″ less bounce than the average of 8.74″, based on all of our tests to date.

Max. Depth

5.02″

Max. Rebound

1.18″

Total Bounce

6.20″

The lower bounce is a product of the considerably thicker-than-average comfort layer and two layers of memory foam in the mattress. The comfort layer is 6.0” thick, which is notably thicker than the average of 4.29”.

Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

Re 2026 Bounce Rebound

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.

In addition, we also have 2.5” of memory foam, which also has a suppressive effect on bounce.

This lower bounce is helping to keep motion transfer held to a reasonable level, but has an especially positive impact on lowering the motion duration. That said, lower bounce also makes sex performance worse, so there are pros and cons to consider.

9.5

Edge Support Test

The Nolah Signature has outstanding sitting edge support and excellent lying edge support.

Max. Sinkage

2.75″

Lying Support

In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 2.75″. This is 1.17″ less sitting sinkage than the average of 3.92″, based on all of our tests to date.

The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.

The combination of 12” total profile height, reasonable sinkage depth, medium-firm feel, and high-quality foams are all working together to deliver excellent edge support.

7.5

Sex Test

The Nolah Signature has fair sex performance. First, let’s talk through what Nolah does best. We have outstanding edge support, minimal noise, and both excellent pressure relief and cooling. That’s 4 out of 5 sex testing factors with outstanding or excellent scores.

Re 2026 Edge Support
Nolah Signature 2026 Edge Support

The edge support in particular is especially robust, with just 2.75” of sitting edge sinkage. A more supportive edge extends the usable surface area of the mattress and will be an amorous boon for couples.

The one area the mattress doesn’t do great in is bounce, which we measured at 6.20”. This is considerably less bounce than average.

Sex FactorFactor WeightScoreRating
Bounce65%6.3Low
Edge Support20%10Outstanding
Noise5%10Minimal
Pressure Relief5%9.0Excellent
Cooling5%9.0Excellent

When it comes to bounce, more is almost always better for sex. The more limited bounce level simply makes it more strenuous and tiring to have sex on the mattress and it’s the single biggest factor holding the sex score down.

9.0

Pressure Relief Test

The Nolah Signature has an excellent level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body.

Comfort Layer

6.00″

Support Layer

6.00″

The mattress is equipped with 6.0″ of comfort material, which is 1.71″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.29″, based on all of our tests to date.

Re 2026 Back Sleeping
Nolah Signature 2026 Back Sleeping

In all mattress tests, we make a point to cut the mattress open to examine the material layers and quality. Overall, I’m pleased with what I see.

The material layers all look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand. Notably, the mattress is available with an optional cooling pillow top cover called Glaciotex.

We tested the mattress with the standard cover, but have tested the Glaciotex cover on other mattresses and found it delivers a huge improvement to both pressure relief and cooling.

Nolah Signature Corner View
Nolah Signature Corner View

To be fair, it’s expensive, but if you want the best levels of pressure relief or cooling, it feels worth the money, in my view. Even without the Glaciotex cover, I am overall pleased with the pressure relief performance here.

This mattress has a balanced feel, medium-firm firmness, and a mix of foam and material types that create a non-polarizing feel that many sleepers can enjoy.

How firm is Nolah Signature?

The Nolah Signature is available in a single firmness, giving the mattress a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale.

Firmness Chart

For the wide majority of sleepers, this firmness is widely accepted as a nice balance between support and pressure relief.

Support & Sleeping Positions

Support on the Nolah Signature is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 6.0″ support layer. This is 1.92″ thinner than the average support layer thickness of 7.92″, based on all of our tests to date.

Support FactorData
Comfort Layer 6.00″
Support Layer 6.00″
Firmness Medium-Firm
Body Contour Balanced
Zoned Support Yes
Reinforced Edge Yes

To create ideal support, a mattress needs to support the body, creating a neutral spinal alignment, while also delivering sufficient comfort and pressure relief. The Nolah Signature meets both of those requirements.

In addition, this mattress has a medium-firm feel, 6 out of 10 firmness. This firmness is a great middle ground that is appropriate to the needs of most sleepers. In addition, this mattress utilizes zoned support.

There is a poly foam layer just above the support foam that’s cut into 3 zones, with the center zone being firmer and more supportive. This type of zoned configuration helps to create better support and resist sagging and body impressions.

Design

The Nolah Signature is a 12.00″ all-foam mattress that comes in a single firmness option—Medium-Firm (6 out of 10 on our firmness scale). This mattress is available as an all-foam mattress or a hybrid.

Within the Nolah collection, the Signature is one tier above the Nolah Original, but at a lower price (and lower performance level) than what we saw on the Nolah Evolution, which is Nolah’s best and most expensive model.

The Cover

The Nolah Signature has a 0.75″ quilted cover that is soft and stretchy. This is the standard cover and the one that was on the Nolah Original we tested.

Re 2026 Cover Feel
Nolah Signature 2026 Cover Feel

For an additional cost ($195 for a queen mattress), you have the option to upgrade to the GlacioTex cooling pillow top cover.

While I did not test the Glaciotex cover on the Nolah Original, I have tested GlacioTex on Brooklyn Bedding and Helix mattresses and have found that it consistently delivers a cooling score of 10/10 in our tests.

The Comfort Layer

The comfort layer is 6.00″ thick and made of four layers of foam. Directly below the cover, there is a 1.5″ copper-infused memory foam followed by a 1.5″ gel memory foam.

The third layer is a 2.0″ poly foam (gray foam) followed by a 0.75″ transitional poly foam (green foam). All four of these layers work together to provide comfort and transitional pressure relief as sleepers engage more deeply into the mattress.

The Support Layer

The support layer is 6.00″ thick and made of a single piece of support foam (pale yellow foam below).

Product Evolution

The Nolah Signature launched in September of 2021, following the launch of the Nolah Original back in 2015. We tested the mattress in 2022 and then again in 2026. This review shows the tests and analysis of the 2026 mattress.

Nolah Signature – 2022

Nolah Signature material layers

Nolah Signature – 2026

Nolah Signature Material Layers

Since our initial tests in 2022 there have been a number of iterative improvements / changes made to the design and materials:

  • Nolah was acquired by 3Z Brands in 2023. Some time after their acquisition 3Z began pouring all of the foam used in the Nolah mattress.
  • Nolah began offering the optional Glaciotex cooling pillow top cover. This Glaciotex cover was originally developed for Helix (another 3Z brand), but has since become an option on multiple 3Z brands including Nolah and Brooklyn Bedding. We don’t have the exact date of this change, but suffice to say it was after Nolah was acquired by 3Z brands in 2023.
  • Nolah released a major design update to the Signature in August 2025. These updates included a new gel foam and additional zoned foam layers.
