Best For
- Heavier sleepers over 250 lbs.
- Outstanding pressure relief with a 6.0″ comfort layer
- Very fast response time
Considerations
- Higher levels of motion transfer than I typically like to see
- Super thick profile makes for a very tall mattress
Our Verdict
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ mattress is a 15″ hybrid designed for plus-sized sleepers. This mattress has a 6.0″ comfort layer including a 2.0″ quilted Eurotop.
This mattress has deep sinkage and contour, while still providing support for heavier sleepers and maintaining a fast response time without any type of a “stuck” feel. Bounce is slightly lower than average but still in the moderate range.
It comes in a single firmness option that is a medium firmness of 5 out of 10.
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a performance score of 8.92, ranking it among the top 25% of all mattresses tested to date. It is slightly lower than the average plus-sized mattress we’ve tested. Although, we have only tested 12 plus-sized models so far.
A queen-size Comfort+ costs $1,624, which is $251 (or 18%) more expensive than the average mattress. But for just plus-sized models, it is actually slightly cheaper. Altogether, this mattress is an excellent value and a great option for plus-sized sleepers.

How is the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Different?
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a higher performance score than the average mattress and also a slightly lower price tag compared to all plus-sized mattresses tested to date.
Advantages
It also has a slightly faster response time, better cooling, better company policies, and a faster off-gassing period.
The biggest advantage to the Comfort+ is its 2″ thicker comfort layer, which helps provide outstanding pressure relief for sleepers of all sizes.
Neutral Factors
The Comfort+ has deeper sinkage and contour, slightly less bounce, and a 3″ thicker mattress height compared to the average mattress.
Disadvantages
The biggest area in which the Comfort+ may disappoint is with its slightly higher motion transfer. Those sensitive to movements during the night run a risk of having their sleep disturbed.
Cooling Test
Cooling performance on the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ was excellent. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat build-up or heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
77.1° F
Max Temp.
91.6° F
Ending Temp.
82.4° F
The combination of a hybrid design and all poly foam comfort layers (as opposed to memory foam) creates great breathability and reduced heat retention in the foam layers.
Max Temp.

Ending Temp

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
The mattress uses a high-performance cooling cover that creates a cool-to-the-touch feel.
In our objective cooling tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 91.6° F. After getting off the mattress from minutes 0 to 1 the temperature declined by 5.1°.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

From minutes 0 to 5 that decline was 9.2°. Based on my subjective experience, our objective temperature data, and an analysis of the materials / mattress design, I am confident that the mattress will sleep cool enough for a vast majority of sleepers.
Sinkage Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a deep level of sinkage. In our tests, we measured a sinkage depth of 2.59”.
Sinkage Depth
2.59″
Sinkage Feel
Deep
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

This is 0.44” more sinkage than the average of 2.15”. The extra thick 6.0” comfort layer and quilted cover create the right environment for additional sinkage.
More sinkage isn’t necessarily better or worse, but it does create a more notable hug around the body.
While the sinkage depth is deeper, the body contouring hug isn’t as dramatic as a memory foam mattress is going to be. It still creates a balanced hug, contour, and exceptionally good pressure relief.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a moderate level of motion transfer.
In our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 10.30 m/s² of acceleration. This is 17% more motion than the average of 8.80 m/s².
The level of motion transfer is documented in the video below.
Max. Acceleration
3.34 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-6.96 m/s²
Accel. Range
10.30 m/s²
Looking at our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.28 seconds. Motion remains slightly spiky until 0.92 seconds, when it returns to near zero levels.

It’s likely that material and design choices that make the mattress better for heavier-weighted sleepers are also responsible for the increase in motion. IE, more dense foams and a lower gauge coil for the pocketed coils.
All that said, the motion transfer we measured isn’t bad, only that it could be better.
The worst part of the motion is the immediate spike, which is ended by 0.28 seconds. While slight motion lingers for around 1 second, it’s pretty minor by comparison.
Response Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a very fast material response time. In our tests, we measured a mostly recovered response time of 0.3 seconds and a fully recovered response time of 0.9 seconds.
Mostly Recovered
0.3 sec.
Complete Recovery
0.9 sec.
The mostly recovered time is notably faster than average (0.41 seconds), while the fully recovered time is essentially average (0.92 seconds).
The level of responsiveness is documented in the the video below.
The fast responsiveness ensures that sleepers never feel stuck in the mattress and makes it easier to move around on the mattress.
Bounce Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a moderate level of bounce. In our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 8.21”. This is 1.29” less bounce than the average of 9.50”.
Max. Depth
5.66″
Max. Rebound
2.55″
Total Bounce
8.21″
Ideally, I like to see 8-12” of total bounce height on each mattress. At this range, it maximizes ease of movement and sex performance, while minimizing any negative motion transfer issues.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max Bounce Height

At 8.21” the Nolah is on the low end of my ideal range, which does negatively impact sex performance. Even so, it’s still reasonably high and within the preferred range that I look for. I don’t expect the bounce will be an issue for most sleepers.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
Edge Support Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has good edge support for sitting and even better support for lying. In our sitting edge support tests, we measured a sitting sinkage depth of 4.0”. This is 0.05” less sitting sinkage than the average of 4.05”.
Max Sinkage
4.00″
Lying Support
Excellent
Ideally, I like to see 4.0” of sitting sinkage or less (with less always being better). The Nolah hits the mark I look for and I felt well-supported even when sitting directly on the edge of the mattress.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

Lying edge support was equally as good. During our tests, even when lying directly on the edge of the mattress I felt well supported by the mattress. The zoned coil unit (3 zones with a 13.5 gauge coil) creates great support in general.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

In addition, this mattress is equipped with a perimeter edge coil that creates higher levels of pushback and support at the very edge. The result is fantastic sitting and lying edge support.
Sex Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has good sex performance but with plenty of room for improvement. The best mattresses for sex have high bounce, good edge support, quiet materials, and good pressure relief and cooling.
These 5 factors make up the NapLab sex performance score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 7.6 | Moderate |
Edge Support | 20% | 8.8 | Good |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
This mattress has a moderate level of bounce, which ultimately hurts the sex score, as bouncier mattresses are typically better for sex.

In addition to bounce, the Comfort+ also has excellent edge support. These two factors alone make up 80% of the sex score and have the most influence in terms of scoring.
Noise, pressure relief, and cooling were also high-scoring factors. Overall, this is a comfortable mattress that should not hinder sex performance.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has outstanding pressure relief. The mattress uses a thick 6.0” comfort layer on top of a high-performance zoned coil unit.
Comfort Layer
6.0″
Support Layer
9.0″
The euro top quilted cover and comfort layer foams create a beautiful balance of body contouring and hug, with a slightly deeper sinkage depth.
During our tests, I did not feel overly stuck or enveloped by the mattress. In addition, at no point did I feel any significant level of pressure point build-up.

I expect most sleepers will find pressure relief to be fantastic. What’s most reassuring about this mattress is that it’s designed for heavier-weighted sleepers (300+ pounds) and yet, even at 140 pounds I felt incredibly comfortable.
As a result, the pressure relief dynamic is such that both heavy and lighter-weight bodies can find it comfortable. This is tremendously valuable, especially for couples of different sizes (ex. where one partner is heavier and the other partner is lighter or moderated weighted).
Off-Gassing Test
Off-gassing of the Nolach Evolution Comfort+ was strong right out of the box. But the smell dissipated fully after 3 days.
Initial Smell Strength
Strong
Off-Gassing Period
3 days
This is 50% faster off-gassing than the average period of 6 days (average across 270+ mattresses tested to date).
Company
The company score takes a look at factors that may influence your experience with the mattress.
Factors include length of the trial period, warranty, shipping / return costs, and country of origin.
Company Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Data |
---|---|---|---|
Trial Period | 15% | 8.0 | 120 nights |
Warranty | 10% | 10 | Lifetime |
Shipping | 5% | 10 | $0 |
Returns | 20% | 7.0 | $99 |
Trust | 50% | 10 | Outstanding |
Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
This mattress comes with a 120-night trial period, which is sufficiently long enough for most sleepers. That being said, the average trial period length is 176 nights among all mattresses we’ve tested to date, so Nolah is about 32% shorter.

It also comes with a lifetime warranty and free shipping to your door. Only 28% of mattresses that we’ve tested offer a lifetime warranty, so this is a big win for Nolah.
If things end up not working out, Nolah does require a $99 return fee, which hurts the company score a bit.
How firm is the Evolution Comfort+?
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a firmness of 5.5 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm. This is the same firmness as the Evolution 15 Luxury Firm and is suitable for a wide range of sleepers.

Nolah rates this mattress at a 6-7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. While I could see an argument that this is a 6 out of 10 firmness, that is the highest I would consider rating it. There is a lot of plushness in the top layers that creates more of a medium feel.
Support & Sleeping Positions
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has excellent support. During our tests, I felt well-supported in all sleeping positions.
The Nolah checks all of the major boxes that I look for. We have a total mattress profile height, comfort layer, and support layer that are all thicker than average.
Mattress Height
- Nolah: 15″
- Average: 11.9″
Comfort Layer
- Nolah: 6.0″
- Average: 4.2″
Support Layer
- Nolah: 9.0″
- Average: 7.7″
That added thickness, combined with the high-quality foams and coils, creates better-than-average support. In addition, the coil unit itself is quite high-performance.

It’s a zoned unit, with 3 zones aimed at creating better spinal alignment for sleepers. In addition, said coil unit uses a lower gauge coil, 13.5, which creates more robust and appropriate support for heavier-weighted bodies (which this mattress is specifically designed for).
Overall, I am exceedingly pleased with the support on the mattress. From layer design, material choices, and material specs, the mattress has got basically everything I look for.
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
According to Nolah, the Evolution Comfort+ can support up to 500 lbs. per side, but is best suited for the following sleeper profiles:
- Side sleepers weighing 250 pounds or more
- Back sleepers weighing 170 to 400 pounds
- Stomach sleepers weighing up to 200 pounds

Materials
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ is a 15″ mattress with a 6″ comfort layer and a 9″ support layer. In total there are 5 separate layers—from top to bottom, these layers break down as follows:
- 2.0″ quilted cover
- 2.0″ poly foam
- 2.0″ poly foam
- 8.0″ pocketed coils
- 1.0″ support foam

The Cover
The cover of the Evolution Comfort+ is organic cotton and 2″ thick. The materials are quilted together for a very plush feel.

This cover is identical to the cover used on the standard Nolah Evolution 15.
The Comfort Layer
Beneath the quilted cover is a 4.0″ comfort layer made up of two foams. The top foam is a 2.0″ poly foam with a transitional 2.0″ poly foam directly below.
Nolah calls this layer an AirFoam, which is denser than the foam used on the standard Evolution 15. This helps provide better support and pressure relief for heavier sleepers. In addition, denser foams create better foam longevity and durability over time.

The Support Layer
The support layer of the Comfort+ uses an 8″ pocketed coil base with a 1″ high-density support foam below for stability and structure.

Product Evolution
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ is the newest version of the Evolution line, recently launched in early 2023. There have been no changes to the Evolution Comfort+ since it was launched in 2023 (as of the publishing date on this review).

The Nolah Evolution (standard) has been around since 2020 and was recently updated in July 2022 where got a new cover and modified foam layers. The cover on the Evolution Comfort+ is the same cover that was introduced in the 2022 launch.
Nolah Evolution Comfort+ vs. Nolah Evolution 15
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ has a similar structure to the Nolah Evolution 15″, but a few notable differences make it better suited for plus-size sleepers.
The Comfort+’s foam is denser than the standard Evolution’s foam layer, improving durability (ie, takes longer to form body impressions and body impressions will be less dramatic), support, pressure relief for heavier sleepers. The Comfort+ also uses lower gauge steel within the pocketed coils, improving durability, support, and stability.
The standard Evolution is available in three firmness levels so if you’re looking for something softer or firmer than the Comfort+, the Evolution 15 may be the better option for you
