Best For
- Outstanding cooling performance
- Exceptional pressure relief
- Side sleepers looking for deeper sinkage and dramatic contour
Considerations
- Weaker edge support (5.75″ sitting sinkage)
- Mediocre sex performance score with low levels of bounce
- Slightly higher price than the average memory foam hybrid
Our Verdict
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is a 15.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress made of memory foam, poly foam, and a pocketed coil support layer. The mattress is topped by a thin cover.
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is available in a single firmness level — soft. This is a 4 out of 10 on our firmness scale, where 10 is the most firm. It’s also the the soft Nectar mattress we’ve tested thus far.
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. The deeper sinkage gives the Ultra Hybrid a more dramatic contour. You’ll need to really enjoy the feel of memory foam to enjoy the feel of this mattress.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.99, ranking the mattress in the top 23% of all mattresses tested to date. Looking exclusively at memory foam hybrids, that rank slightly drops to the top 37% but that’s still well above average.
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is $1,999 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 22% more expensive than the average memory foam hybrid. Despite the higher cost, if you know you’re looking for a high-profile soft memory foam hybrid, the Nectar Ultra checks a lot of boxes and is a strong performer overall.

How is Nectar Ultra Hybrid Different?
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is a 15.00″ memory foam hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is well above average and a price tag that is only slightly above average.
Advantages
Advantages of the Nectar Ultra Hybrid include better cooling performance, lower levels of motion transfer, and exceptional pressure relief. The Nectar Ultra is backed by a 365-night trial period and lifetime warranty, which gives Nectar a very consumer-friendly company score.
Neutral Factors
This mattress has extremely deep sinkage and extremely low bounce. While these are technically “neutral factors” since different sleepers have different preferences, these specific feel factors are on the extreme ends of the rating spectrum.

If you’re looking for a bouncy mattress or like to sleep “on the mattress”, the Nectar Ultra Hybrid will definitely not be the right choice for you. But if you enjoy the hug of traditional memory foam with lots of sinkage, this mattress may be fantastic.
Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Nectar Ultra include a worse sex score and a below average edge support. If you want ideal sex performance, this mattress may disappoint.
Cooling Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has outstanding cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
75.8° F
Max. Temp.
88.9° F
Ending Temp.
80.6° F
Quite to the contrary, the mattress was quite cool and the top fabric layer had a notable cool-to-the-touch feel.
This mattress benefits from the hybrid design, which brings extra airflow into the mattress. In addition, the cover is woven with cooling fibers.
Lastly, there is a layer of phase change material beneath the cover. This combination of cooling fibers and phase change materials is able to deliver a cool-to-the-touch feel on the surface.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 88.9° F.
This is 1.1° cooler than the average of 90.0° F, based on all of our tests to date. After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.6 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.2 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.8 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is outstanding.
Sinkage Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has extremely deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 3.23″. This is 1.01″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.22″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
3.23″
Sinkage Feel
Extremely Deep
Body Contour
Dramatic
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a dramatic body contouring hug and has a classic memory foam feel. There is lots of hug, lots of body contour, and lots of sinkage.
When you lie on this mattress, you are really lying “in” the mattress due to the extremely deep sinkage level. This feel can be fantastic for many side sleepers, as it helps alleviate pressure points and brings the hips into alignment.
However, it’s also a more polarizing feel that not all sleepers will love. Stomach sleepers, especially, will likely find this sinkage depth is simply too deep to properly support the body.
Motion Transfer Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 8.22 m/s². This is 6% less motion transfer than the average of 8.76 m/s².
Accel. Range
8.22 m/s²
Motion Duration
0.72 seconds
The combination of an extra thick comfort layer, considerable usage of memory foam (as opposed to poly foam or latex), and below average level of bounce are all helping this mattress create lower than average motion transfer.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.2 seconds.
Motion begins to decline immediately thereafter. By 0.72 seconds, we’ve returned to near-zero levels of energy, which is 0.16 seconds shorter than the average motion duration of 0.88 seconds.
Motion Transfer Over Time

Both the motion intensity and motion duration are better than average. As a result, motion transfer on this mattress is excellent.
Response Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a fast material response. In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.4 seconds, which is 0.01 seconds faster than the average of 0.41 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
Mostly Recovered
0.4 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.8 sec.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.8 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 1.02 seconds.
While these material recovery speeds aren’t instant, they are still better than average and more than fast enough to facilitate good ease of movement.
Given the extremely deep sinkage and thick 4.0” memory foam comfort layer, I was quite surprised at just how good the material responsiveness is.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
The memory foam used in this mattress is more of a modern formulation that retains the body contour, hug, and pressure relief that sleepers love from memory foam, while also remaining highly responsive.
Overall, I’m pleased with the response time and don’t expect it to be an issue for most sleepers.
Bounce Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a low level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 6.18″. This is 2.61″ less bounce than the average of 8.79″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
7.02″
Max. Rebound
-0.84″
Total Bounce
6.18″
This mattress has multiple factors that are contributing to the suppression of bounce, including a thicker-than-average comfort layer, a 4.0” memory foam layer, extremely deep sinkage, and a softer feel.
All of these design and material attributes have a suppressive effect on bounce.
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
The lower bounce makes it harder to move around on the mattress; however, some of that ease of movement is improved by the fast material recovery speed.
In addition, the lower bounce makes sex performance worse. If there is a silver lining to the low bounce, it’s that it’s a major factor in helping to keep motion transfer lower.
Edge Support Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has mediocre sitting edge support and good lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
5.75″
Lying Support
Good
Reinforced Edge
Yes
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 5.75″. This is 1.81″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 3.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions. This mattress is equipped with two rows of reinforced coils running along the perimeter of the mattress.
These coils are almost certainly having a positive impact on edge support and yet, they aren’t impactful enough to overcome the extremely deep sinkage and memory foam feel.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

While lying on the edge of the mattress, we have the classic memory foam problem where the memory foam is weakening the edge support as it tries to contour and hug the body.
That memory foam body hug is great in the middle of the mattress, but when it hugs at the edge, we experience a weakening of support. This isn’t necessarily a problem with Nectar Ultra Hybrid specifically, but rather many memory foam hybrids struggle with edge support for this reason.
This is also true when we see this level of sinkage and softness. Overall, edge support leaves something to be desired, especially the sitting edge support.
Sex Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has mediocre sex performance. First up, let’s hit the positives, where we have perfect 10 out of 10 scores from noise, pressure relief, and cooling. This is a comfortable mattress that is also quiet. Unfortunately, that’s where the pros end.

On the negative side of things, we have edge support, which we measured at 5.75”.
This is considerably worse than average and means that the edge isn’t going to be robust enough to be a usable part of the mattress for amorous activities for many couples. In addition, we have bounce, which we measured at 6.18”. This is significantly lower than average.
| Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce | 65% | 6.3 | Low |
| Edge Support | 20% | 6.6 | Mediocre |
| Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
| Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
| Cooling | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
When it comes to sex, we want as much bounce as possible. The limited bounce, especially combined with this sinkage depth and the memory foam feel, means it’s more strenuous and tiring to have sex on this mattress. Overall, the sex performance on the Ultra Hybrid just isn’t great.
Pressure Relief Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no pressure points on my body. This mattress is absurdly comfortable to lie on, even for extended durations of time.
The mattress is equipped with 6.0″ of comfort material, which is 1.71″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.29″, based on all of our tests to date.
Comfort Layer
6.00″
Support Layer
9.00″
During our tests, I opened up the cover to assess material quality and overall I’m pleased with what I see. The material quality looks and feels good.
It’s not the absolute best I’ve seen, and yet it’s better than most and incredibly thick. While this mattress feels amazing and creates fantastic pressure relief, it’s not for everyone.

Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a soft feel, extremely deep sinkage, a dramatic body contouring hug, and a memory foam feel. That combination of feel attributes can be more polarizing. So you’ll really want to make sure it’s a good match for your preferences.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |

| Side Sleepers | 0.09 | 0.43 |

Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

| Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach Sleepers | 0.07 | 0.31 |
In our objective pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.43, which is well within the 1.0 PSI threshold that I want to see.
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 7 days. This is 0.1 days shorter than the average smell duration of 7.1 days.

| Warranty | 20% | 10 | Lifetime |
| Shipping | 10% | 10 | $0 |
| Country of Origin | 0% | USA |
Comparing 103+ brands tested to date, the average trial period is 177 nights, which is 188 nights less than the year-long trial that Nectar offers. Nectar also offers a lifetime warranty, which is only offered by 40% of brands.

How firm is Nectar Ultra Hybrid?
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is available in a single firmness, 4 out of 10, giving the mattress a soft feel.

This firmness won’t be suitable for all sleepers, as too much softness can feel like a lack of support for some sleepers. But for the right match, this soft feel may be the perfect blend of plushness and pressure relief.
Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Nectar Ultra Hybrid is outstanding. During our tests, I felt well supported on my side and back. However, the sinkage depth while lying on my stomach wasn’t great and I did not feel supported on my stomach.
The mattress is equipped with a 9.0″ support layer. This is 1.09″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.91″, based on all of our tests to date.
| Support Factor | Data |
|---|---|
| Comfort Layer | 6.00″ |
| Support Layer | 9.00″ |
| Firmness | Soft |
| Body Contour | Dramatic |
| Zoned Support | Yes |
| Reinforced Edge | Yes |
This mattress has a more unique and polarizing support dynamic. Notably, we have extremely deep sinkage and a soft feel. That support dynamic is great for side sleepers, but not ideal for stomach sleepers.
Back sleepers may enjoy the feel, but some could also find the sinkage depth is just too deep.
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid is equipped with zoned support via a firmer layer of foam in the center third of the mattress.

Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 150 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
| 150-250 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
| 250-300 lbs. | No | Yes | Maybe |
Zoned support via foam isn’t as ideal as zoned support via a reinforced coil unit, but it’s still better to see that than no zoned support at all. Overall, I’m pleased with this level of support.
However, you should know that this firmness and sinkage depth is best suited for side sleepers, less well suited to back sleepers, and not a good choice for stomach sleepers.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most side sleepers will find support on the Nectar Ultra Hybrid to be outstanding.

The Cover
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid has a thin, seamless cover. Despite the price tier, all Nectar mattresses have a thin cover.
The base and lower half of the side panel use a reinforced fabric that appears to be more durable than the top. But the thin top also allows for great cooling.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 6.00″ thick and made of memory foam and poly foam. Directly below the cover is a 4.0″ memory foam followed by a 2.0″ zoned, transitional poly foam.
You can note different poly foam layers where the foam switched between white to blue in the photo below.

This thicker comfort layer, combined with the zoned approach, all contribute to the Ultra Hybrid’s exceptional pressure relief.
The Support Layer
The support layer is 9.00″ thick and made of an 8.0″ pocketed coil followed by a 1.0″ support foam at the base.

For a high-quality hybrid, this is precisely the type of support layer I’d expect to see.
Product Evolution
The Nectar Ultra Hybrid was released to their lineup in 2024 as a top-tier, high-profile hybrid. It was also released in a memory foam version.
In our tests, the Hybrid has slightly better overall performance than the Nectar Ultra memory foam mattress, but it also comes at a slightly higher price.
Since its release, there have been no notable changes made to this mattress.
