Our Verdict
The Diamond Dreamstage mattress is a 14.5″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam, pocketed coils, support foam, and quilted cover.
The Diamond Dreamstage is available in three firmness levels — soft, medium-firm, and firm. It also has three different types — hybrid, lux quilted hybrid, and all-foam. With each of these different styles, there is a total of 9 different configurations available on the Diamond Dreamstage.
This review is of the medium-firm hybrid. In our tests, it had very deep sinkage and moderate levels of bounce. I would expect the softer versions to have deeper sinkage and less sinkage on the firm versions.
In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 9.00, ranking the mattress in the top 22% of all mattresses tested to date.
The Diamond Dreamstage is $1,499 for a queen-sized mattress, which is right at the average price for a hybrid mattress.

How is Diamond Dreamstage Different?
The Diamond Dreamstage is a 14.5″ hybrid mattress with an overall performance level that is better than average and a price that is right at the average. This dynamic results in a mattress that is a better value, giving sleepers more performance for their money.
Advantages
Aside from the value price, other performance advantages of the Dreamstage include better cooling, lower motion transfer levels, fast material response time, and great pressure relief.
The Dreamstage has a 5.0″ comfort layer, where 4.2″ is the average. It also has a longer warranty than average (20 years compared to the 14-year average).
Neutral Factors
This mattress has very deep sinkage and moderate bounce.

Disadvantages
Disadvantages of the Dreamstage include worse edge support and a longer off-gassing duration. This mattress takes 13 days to off-gas, which is 6 days longer than the 7-day average.
Cooling Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has excellent cooling. During our tests, I did not feel any significant level of heat retention around my body.
Baseline Temp.
77.8° F
Max. Temp.
90.2° F
Ending Temp.
81.5° F
The mattress is equipped with a cooling cover, which has a slight cool-to-the-touch feel when you first lie down.
That said, the cooling feel isn’t dramatic and much of the cooler feel is lost after you lie in the same position for a few minutes.
Max. Temp.

Ending Temp.

- Baseline Temperature – the temperature of the mattress before anyone lies on it
- Maximum Temperature (0 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after lying on it for 15 minutes
- Ending Temperature (5 minute) – the temperature of the mattress after being lied upon and having no one on it for 5 minutes
Once the cooler feel subsides, the mattress returns to a more neutral temperature, which is not uncommon for cooling covers on mattresses. Beyond the cover, we have high-quality foams that all seem to breathe well and a hybrid design bringing extra air flow into the mattress.
In our objective temperature tests, we measured a max surface level temperature of 90.2° F. This is 0.3° warmer than the average of 89.9° F, based on all of our tests to date.
After getting off the mattress, the temperature declined by 3.7 degrees from minutes 0 to 1, which is 1.0 degrees warmer than the average 0 to 1 minute decline of 4.7 degrees.
Heat Dissipation Over Time

When we consider the combination of objective data, my subjective experiences, and an analysis of the materials, I’m confident in my view that cooling is excellent.
Sinkage Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has very deep sinkage. During our tests, we measured a pressure point sinkage depth of 2.71″. This is 0.53″ more sinkage than the average sinkage depth of 2.18″, based on all of our tests to date.
Sinkage Depth
2.71″
Sinkage Feel
Very Deep
The level of sinkage is documented in the image below.

The mattress creates a balanced body contouring hug. It’s not too much nor too little. The euro top feels amazingly good on the body. The mattress does a fantastic job of creating hug, contour, pressure relief, and comfort, all without feeling overly enveloped or creating any type of a stuck feeling.
The Diamond Dreamstage is using a mix of memory foam, poly, euro top, and pocketed coils to create a balanced, non-polarizing feel that most sleepers can enjoy.
Motion Transfer Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has a very low level of motion transfer. During our tests, we measured a total acceleration range of 5.56 m/s². This is 36% less motion transfer than the average of 8.66 m/s².
Max. Acceleration
2.84 m/s²
Min. Acceleration
-2.72 m/s²
Accel. Range
5.56 m/s²
The Dreamstage has many design and material choices helping to reduce motion, including the thicker-than-average total profile, thicker-than-average comfort layer, and higher-density foams.
Each of these factors is working together to restrain and dissipate energy, while also reducing bounce, which was notably below average.
The level of motion transfer is also documented in the video below.
In our motion transfer chart, which visualizes our accelerometer data, we can see the highest motion peaks from 0 to 0.15 seconds. Immediately after 0.15 seconds, we see a notable step down in motion and by 1.08 seconds we return to near-zero levels of energy.

Certainly, the level of motion duration is longer than I hope to see and longer than average. Even so, motion intensity is well below average and that is the central driver of motion.
Given the considerably below average motion intensity, I don’t expect this level of motion transfer will be a problem for most sleepers.
Response Test
The Diamond Dreamstage is a mixed bag for material responsiveness, with an extremely fast mostly recovered response time and a fast fully recovered response time.
Mostly Recovered
0.2 sec.
Fully Recovered
0.8 sec.
In our mostly recovered test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.2 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the average of 0.42 seconds, based on all of our tests to date.
In our fully recovered responsiveness test, we measured a recovery speed of 0.8 seconds, which is 0.19 seconds faster than the average of 0.99 seconds.
The level of responsiveness is documented in the video below.
Most of the materials within the Dreamstage rebound back to shape quickly. However, the topmost copper-infused foam takes an extra moment to recover to its original shape after it has been compressed.
This slows down the total material responsiveness of the mattress slightly. Even so, I am not worried about responsiveness speeds at this level. These material recovery speeds do not notably impact ease of movement and should be more than sufficient for most sleepers.
Bounce Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has a moderate level of bounce. During our tests, we measured a total bounce height of 8.83″. This is 0.31″ less bounce than the average of 9.14″, based on all of our tests to date.
Max. Depth
5.97″
Max. Rebound
2.86″
Total Bounce
8.83″
Max. Sinkage Depth

Max. Bounce Height

The plush euro top cover is taking a ton of energy out of the mattress, which is contributing to the lower bounce. In addition, the thicker-than-average comfort layer is also helping to reduce bounce. The lower bounce is a major reason that motion transfer is well below average.
The level of bounce is also documented in the video below.
However, a low bounce also has a negative impact on sex performance. Even so, while bounce is slightly below average, it is still sufficiently high enough to facilitate good ease of movement and a reasonably good level of sex performance.
Edge Support Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has fair sitting edge support and good lying edge support.
Max. Sinkage
4.75″
Lying Support
Good
In our sitting edge support test, we measured a sitting sinkage compression of 4.75″. This is 0.75″ more sitting sinkage than the average of 4.00″, based on all of our tests to date. It’s fair to say that sitting edge support leaves something to be desired.
The level of edge support while seated is documented in the images below.
Sitting, 140 lbs.

Sitting, 200 lbs.

While lying directly on the edge of the mattress, I felt that the support was good in all sleeping positions; however, it’s clear it’s also not amazing. The edge does feel slightly squishy due to the euro top.
There is a slight downward curvature of the euro top at the edge, which means the body also has a slight downward angle when lying on the edge.
It’s definitely not the worst version of this type of cover I’ve seen, but I do think it is worth mentioning as more sensitive sleepers could find this problematic.
The level of edge support while lying is documented in the images below.
Lying on Edge, 140 lbs.

Lying on Edge, 200 lbs.

According to the Diamond website, there is supposed to be a support foam running along the entire perimeter of the mattress. However, the Dreamstage we tested did not have this edge support.
In my view, the lack of support foam or reinforced support coils running along the edge is the primary reason that edge support doesn’t rise to the excellent or outstanding level.
Sex Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has good sex performance. First, let’s talk through what the Dreamstage does well. Noise is minimal and pressure relief is outstanding.
In addition, cooling earned a good score and while there is room for improvement, it should be more than good enough for amorous activities.

Next up, we have bounce with a middling performance at 8.83” of total bounce height. This level of bounce is below average. When it comes to bounce, more is almost always better and the below-average level of bounce is definitely holding down the total sex score.
Sex Factor | Factor Weight | Score | Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Bounce | 65% | 8.0 | High |
Edge Support | 20% | 7.8 | Fair |
Noise | 5% | 10 | Minimal |
Pressure Relief | 5% | 10 | Outstanding |
Cooling | 5% | 9.0 | Excellent |
Last but not least, we have edge support, which only earned a fair score at 4.75” of sitting edge support.
At this sinkage depth, it’s notably worse than average and means the edge isn’t as robust, which decreases the usable surface area of the mattress. All things considered, the Dreamstage still earned a good sex score, but one that has plenty of room for improvement also.
Pressure Relief Test
The Diamond Dreamstage has an outstanding level of pressure relief. During our tests, I felt no significant pressure points on my body. Quite to the contrary, I found the mattress to be exceedingly comfortable to lie on.
Comfort Layer
5.0″
Support Layer
9.5″
The mattress is equipped with 5.0″ of comfort material, which is 0.85″ more comfort material than the average comfort layer thickness of 4.15″, based on all of our tests to date.
Beyond simply having more comfort material, the quality of the comfort layers is also excellent. The poly foam layers within the comfort layer all look and feel high quality, both on the body and in-hand. I was especially impressed with the quilted cover.

Just a few moments lying on the mattress you can feel the difference in the shoulders and back as it alleviates pressure.
In our pressure mapping tests, we measured a max PSI of 0.68, which is well within the ideal range we hope for. A 2.0 PSI is a high pressure point and none of our tests on the Dreamstage were anywhere near that level.
Pressure Map – Side Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Side Sleepers | 0.13 | 0.56 |
Pressure Map – Back Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Back Sleepers | 0.08 | 0.60 |
Pressure Map – Stomach Sleepers

Pressure Relief (PSI) | Average | Maximum |
---|---|---|
Stomach Sleepers | 0.08 | 0.68 |
When I consider our objective pressure mapping tests, material thickness, material quality, and my subjective experience on the mattress, I’m confident most sleepers will find the pressure relief to be outstanding.
Off-Gassing Test
The Diamond Dreamstage had a strong smell upon the initial unboxing. The mattress smelled for 13 days. This is 6.4 days longer than the average smell duration of 6.6 days.

How firm is Diamond Dreamstage?
The Diamond Dreamstage mattress is available in three different types and three different firmnesses. The different types include:
- Hybrid
- Lux Quilted Hybrid
- All Foam
And the three firmnesses include:
- Soft
- Medium
- Firm
This gives a total of 9 different configurations available on the Diamond Dreamstage. We tested the hybrid version in the medium firmness.

The medium version of the hybrid type has firmness to be a 6 out of 10, which gives it a medium-firm feel.

Based on the materials used, I would estimate the Soft version to be a 4 out of 10 and the Firm version to be an 8 out of 10.

Support & Sleeping Positions
Support on the Diamond Dreamstage is excellent. During our tests, I felt well supported in all sleeping positions. The mattress is equipped with a 9.5″ support layer. This is 1.57″ thicker than the average support layer thickness of 7.93″, based on all of our tests to date.
Notably, the Dreamstage includes a zoned support pocketed coil unit. This means it creates more support in the middle of the mattress, where most sleepers carry most of their weight. A zonal support unit can help to improve support and better resist body impressions and sagging.

The Dreamstage is available in 3 different firmness options. We tested the medium version. Having multiple firmness options is ideal, as it assures there is likely a firmness configuration that will work best for your body.
Most sleepers need a medium feel, but some side sleepers and some lighter-weight sleepers prefer soft.
Meanwhile, back and stomach sleepers, in addition to some heavier weighted sleepers, prefer firm. Of course, there are exceptions to these guidelines.

Our charts in the firmness section can help you determine which firmness is best for you based on your sleeping position and body weight.
Check out the table below to see the sleeper weights and sleeping positions that would be best suited for this mattress.
Soft Version
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Maybe | Yes | Maybe |
250-300 lbs. | No | Yes | No |
Medium-Firm Version
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Firm Version
Sleeper Weight | Stomach Sleeper | Side Sleeper | Back Sleeper |
---|---|---|---|
Under 150 lbs. | Yes | No | Yes |
150-250 lbs. | Yes | Maybe | Yes |
250-300 lbs. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Lastly, the total profile height is thicker than average and the comfort layer is also thicker than average. These design choices, in addition to high-quality materials used throughout the mattress, ensure that support is more than sufficient.
Based on all of my tests to date, an analysis of the materials, and my subjective experiences, I’m confident that most sleepers will find support on the Diamond Dreamstage to be excellent.

The Comfort Layer
The comfort layer is 5.0″ thick, if we include the 2.0″ quilted cover. Beneath the cover, there are two layers of poly foam—a 1.0″ copper-infused poly foam followed by a 2.0″ transitional poly foam.

These foams work together to provide comfort and transitional support above the coil base.
The Support Layer
